This is the terrible nature of the Nigerian, the inability to think and plan tomorrow.

A woman, who had done tremendous work in Africa. A woman who along with her husband is responsible for eliminating polio from Africa, and a woman has shown concern for Africa is giving advice to Africa, based on what she saw in Ecuador.
Instead of us to disagree with her politely, we are supporting a known drug addict and a serial womaniser, who had never done any charitable thing in his life to demonise her.

She has a point. The fatality rate in Nigeria so far is about 3%. Out of about 300 people confirmed infested with the virus, 10 are dead. Imagine the number of death if up to a million people are infected. That would be 300,000 thousand.

Even the the Trump administration is using a projected figure of between 100,000 to 200,000 deaths as a best case scenario. Worst case scenario is between 1 million to 1.2 million deaths.

See this disease wont do much in Nigeria because of many factors:

The government was more proactive more than many western governments..Those that traveled through Heathrow, JFK, and many other busy airports in Europe and America said there was no restrictions or check as of February but Lagos and Abuja airports were doing serious checks as of that February period

Nigerian government locked our borders and airports at the right time.
Many of these western nations allowed the disease to spread around, they were caught napping, hence the havoc and fatalities.

Even China's neighbors in the Asia Pacific region had less death than the Europeans and Americans because they responded in time.

The west failed woefully
They handled the issue poorly

The incubation and manifestation period for this virus is about 14 days or there about. Most of our people that returned from overseas before the lock down is past three weeks now.
Everyone with the virus must have manifested in either sickness or death


By the end of this extended 2 weeks Nigeria will have been free.

The only problem will be for government to put tight control at our airports and borders so that anybody that comes into Nigeria after the lock down is over must be quarantined and seriously tested.


I don't even see the death toll here reaching 20 self.

The US sells treasury bonds and China buys them. That is how the borrowing happens. Asking how a bigger economic borrows from a smaller economy is just naive.

Even if every foreign company pulls out of China it will not effect China that much because they already have lots of domestic manufacturers to fill the void and keep the masses employed. China has a large population and it will be very hard for everyone to earn large salaries. But the income level will improve as the Chinese economy keeps growing. China is only poor in GDP per capita due to their large population but they are still the second richest country in the world.

America has a higher standard of living because they have being enjoying steady economic growth for over 150 years while Europe and China were in war and political turmoil. The US population is also lower than that of China so it is much easier to have a better standard of living when the population is not so much. The US has a better standard of living also because they rely on cheap labour overseas. Just bring manufacturing back to the US and watch their standard of living depreciate.

China's economic reforms and rise only started about 30 years ago and they have already pulled out 700 million out of poverty in such a short time which is two times the population of the United States. Just give them 20 more years and you will witness another rapid increase in standard of living. China already has better public infrastructures than the US.

The US is only 16% percent of Chinese global trade. Which means China still has 84% of the world to trade with. Therefore China can survive without trading with the US. The trade war wouldn't do them any severe damage.

You don't measure a rich country by just size of GDP.

You measure a rich country by how well off the citizens are. Even Japan, South Korea are richer countries because of high standard of living, good per capita income, good minimum wage, better quality of life. Hdi index etc.

China is coming up, not slowly but very fast. USA has said many times they are very worried with China’s rise, and it's a reality.

China is and has been the number one reason the Kims of North Korea have remained in power, as they aided the North against the US-backed South Korea. China gave North Korea nuclear capability.

More importantly, China has the advantage of a dictatorship style of central government. Chinese government can arrange all resources they have through central government without squabbles which can not happen in a democratic country. For example, the coronavirus in 2019 , due to the sudden outbreak COVID19 , they can build brand new hospitals in 6 days. They can arrange all medical resources immediately to fight the virus, it will be hard to see a country replicate that in days even USA will struggle.

China has massive supply chain. If they stop, it means the world have to stop and wait for her. So many things tagged western products are produced in China. China is even integrated in the world economy than USA or any country.

My man, China will grow to be very powerful in future because they have some natural advantages and no country, I said no country can stop that.

China doesn't have what it takes to rule the world. They are still far behind many industrialised nations. Even in the Asia Pacific region.

China lacks influence/acceptance around the world. Ordinary global finance they don't even have a say. IMF, world bank are still controlled by the West.

He also had a baby on me and begged me to raise the child with him if it was his after dna...I was scared toput myself in that position as a time when I have to depend on him will come and he would not man up as he should so I broke it off. Many manufacturing jobs are leaving China. Vietnam for example are building a lot of mobile phone manufacturing plant. Most of the clothes sold in UK department stores are produced in Bangladesh.

Wise countries are already positioning themselves to take away a lot of manufacturing jobs from China.

African nations still have the advantage of cheap labor but due to incompetent leadership cannot maximise the opportunity.

There is nothing special with what China is doing. It's not even hi tech manufacturing done by the likes of Germany, Japan, South Korea etc it's just normal manufacturing any nation can do.

I was surprised to see many traditional healers having local treatment for many of these diseases and they work very well as well when combined with hospital treatment (they give vitamins for stroke patients and blood thinners), many people drop the blood thinner, use vitamins and herbal cure. Really, something borders me on this covid 19 stuff... The US who is doing more testing and taking precautions seriously with her people are experiencing increased deaths almost everyday and here in Africa and Nigeria in particular, testing is very limited and people are not dieing as expected, logically I have the following feelings :

Our immune system is so strong in Nigeria that the covid19 could not break easily and I attribute this to the fact that we engage malaria drugs every now and then.

The countries doing more testing are experiencing increased cases and deaths, could it be that testing makes it more pronounced?

I wonder how long we will practice social distancing and isolation. Even if all cases are eradicated in 3 months, and borders are. opened, one foreigner with the disease and no symptoms visits and it spreads again. A cure is what is needed.

Actually what is needed is a vaccine.
Viral diseases don't actually have cure because a virus can't survive on its own. So it uses the cell of its host to multiply.
