That constitution at independence that you accused Zik of influencing to exclude secession clause was abandoned in 1966. Did zik prevent it from being included in the 1979 or 1999 constitution? DuwaRepublic: Again they committed treason by declaring Biafra. Same way Ojukwu and the rest of the federal govt went after Boro for declaring Niger Delta Republic. You have Nnamdi Azikwe to blame for the removal of a secession clause in our constitution. So until the constitution is amended voted in by two-thirds of the house and senate, any secessionist movement can be charged with treason which is an offense punishable by death, hence the war. |

The only reason North has power to fight is because they are sure of your support. If the North are that powerful, they could have defeated bokoharam, bandits. If the West declare secession today, the North will be forced to negotiate with you because they know the Easterners are already on standby to go. When Yugoslavia and Soviet union broke up, not a single shot was fired because majority left at the same time. If the West leaves, the East leaves, the Lower Niger leaves, middle belt leaves same time, who will the core North fight? Courage is a virtue! isthatso: The only people against secession are the Northerners. We unlike you are smart enough to know we are checkmated...thanks to you and we don’t fight battles and endanger people lives for a battle we can’t win. |

Igbos have the most to loose yet are at the forefront? So why are you afraid of breakup if you have less to loose? You dont seem to understand simple questions. You said you never wanted the breakup of Western region but when I asked what did you do when it was broken up, you keep mentioning Igbo this Igbo that. You said the fight was not your fight but your region was broken up but you did nothing then turned around to claim we caused your region to get broken up as a collateral damage. You never cared about being broken up as far as the East is broken up, you were fine. isthatso: You seem to think your fight was our fight. You decide to fight for something that only concerns you why should we join you? Abeg come and mad man o! Are we the ones that killed Sardinia and Balewa, that the north are retaliating against?

Are the military not humans? You think if all the westerners in the Army abandoned the army like the Easterners did, Gowon would be bold enough to follow through on states creation? Truth is the Yorubas wanted an alliance with the North at all cost and were willing to do anything! You guys ganged up with the North to ruin the country just to spite the Igbos. Even today you're resisting restructuring because you are afraid the Igbos will be more favored in a restructured Nigeria but pretending to be prorestructuring isthatso: you lack understanding, I said they caused the break up of the country because they let in the military! Without the military the north could never appropriate resources, create states at will and these are the things that derailed us as a country. They struck because you cannot settle disagreements peacefully or patiently. A trait that continues today. If you don’t get your way all hell must break loose. The 1st time the SE has not had influence at the Centre and see the divisions in the country. Other regions have seen decades of non representation at the center and they didn’t bring the country to its knees. |
Politics › Re: Reps Approve Buhari’s $22.7 Billion Loan Request. South East Reps Kick by DMerciful(m): 5:52pm On Jun 03, 2020 |
You are emotional. You said Igbos cause the breakup of the country. And I asked why didn't Yorubas resisted the breakup if they never wanted it. I never asked for epistles, just answer the question. Forget about Ojukwu, Eastern region, the war, resources in the East(which came after the division). Speak on why Yorubas never wanted the breakup of the Western region yet did nothing. isthatso: Continue to delude yourself with the stories your forefathers gave their children for your failure in the war nobody is going to tell his child he messed up. But the facts are there if you care to read independent accounts. the day you are prepared to acknowledge your shortcomings is the day you start the path of progress..
1. Ojukwu left Nigeria not because he wanted to keep Nigeria together but because he feared losing control of the oil in today’s SS region.
2. He deliberately let many die because he felt it would help garner international support. This is on record by many international agencies that Ojukwu rejected food aid while he and the Igbo elite fed well.
3. Ex Biafra officers have said that ojukwu planned to invade Ibadan and Lagos.
4. Yoruba never promised to fight a war with ibos. What Awo said was if the ibos succeed in seceding , then we will secede too. You did not success succeed so we did not renege on our promise.
You need to read the definition of courage. Gra gra and heading into fights without strategic thinking is not courage but stupidity. What have you gained for your “courage”? You lost your region, you lost control over the oil, you lost financial autonomy, you lost millions of lives, you scared generations of your people, you turned yourselves into second class citizens politically all to say you have courage? 50 years after the war and minority has seen presidency before you....when will you learn? |
Politics › Re: Reps Approve Buhari’s $22.7 Billion Loan Request. South East Reps Kick by DMerciful(m): 5:25pm On Jun 03, 2020 |
You said the Igbos caused the breakup of the country but the Igbos resisted the breakup by going to war and you guys did nothing. The only reason many people died in the war was because Yoruba did not resisted the breakup. If they had done, there is no way Gowon will fight the East and West at the same time but would have negotiated with the regions. With Yorubas not resisting, it became 2 against 1. A war that has not started at the time and you already saw casualties in millions? Yorubas should have resisted the breakup of the western region, courage is a virtue! isthatso: Of what relevance is that? It was a military govt what could we do? We should go to war and let 2 million people die? We did nothing... so what? Did you do anything when they broke up Easter region into Anambra and IMO?
Western region wasn’t broken up to spite or control yorubas. It was broken up because Gowon could not break up just the Easter region only. So he broke up the North, wester and Easter regions. Of all the regions the western region was the only one broken into 2. All other regions were broken up into at least 3. Of course the Midwest remained as it had just been careated. |
Politics › Re: Reps Approve Buhari’s $22.7 Billion Loan Request. South East Reps Kick by DMerciful(m): 5:10pm On Jun 03, 2020 |
You did not answer the question. What did Yorubas do when Gowon broke up the western region? isthatso: Actually it is on record that the North planned to break away from Nigeria after the coup. It was the British who persuaded them to keep Nigeria intact. The North feared domination by the south especially the Ibos as they were way behind in development. You must remmember that the North did not win the elections, they formed a government by forming an alliance with Zik. Awo offered to form an alliance with Zik but he refused because he thought the less educated Northerners would be easier to dominate. It is in this alliance with the North that the Northerners realized the Ibos were trying to dominate them in the civil service.
As far as yorubas, what does this have to do with yorubas? Did we plan secession with you? We had no problem with Nigeria, we had the benefit of being part of Nigeria and the autonomy of controlling our own resources and development just like every other region, till Ibo greed came and scattered everything. |

Before Nzeogwu coup, there were other coup in the pipeline as coup was gaining popularity in Africa as a whole. It was really a question of first to execute. You needed to read history and not assume other military officers were docile until Nzeogwu opened their eyes. What the North implemented through Gowon was already planned. When the country was being divided, what did Yorubas do? The East declared Biafra when the East was divided, when the West was divided, what did they do? isthatso: .
It depends on who is writing the history. Others may say the SE are the ones who upended our collective development in 1966, unwittingly resulting in central (Northern) control of regional resources and revenues which is the genesis of our stagnation and underdevelopment.
Some would say the the misadventures of the SE in 1966 and 1967 is the reason we were saddled with a constitution designed not for economic progress but primarily for political control.
If there was no coup and there was no civil war, there would be no 36 states, the North would be developing their minerals and agric to compete with the south, there would be no quota system. SE would control Nigeria’s oil and the west would develop with agric and industry.
If there was no coup and no civil war we wouldn’t have a situation where northerners illegally mine their minerals and pocket it because they can spend oil money from the SS. If there was no coup, northerners would be in a mad rush to send their kids to school instead of breeding them like rats for elections. |

Are we paying subsidy or not? What do you mean officially or unofficially? Is Nigerian money not being used for subsidy? danietohbadt: Let's not talk about NNPC cos this issue will only drag longer. The corporation has always been a sacred cow and a corruption hub.
Let's leave it.
In my previous posts, I didn't discuss elaborately because I didn't deem it necessary.
Officially, FG isn't paying subsidy.
Unofficially, they're paying subsidy.
The basis of it all is just that whether crude oil price is high or not, we will still pay high prices from PMS as long as we still import petroleum products and as long as the naira remains weak.
In my early post, you could see clearly that the price of a litre of PMS is less than half a dollar, but when converted to naira, it becomes well over N120.
That has been the problem all along. The naira is weak and we keep paying the price for its weakness.

Who cares if he goes or not? Like I said he has a strong case for the direct primaries using covid as a necessary excuse. The election proper is still far away so they may have been a solid cure for covid by then to change the dynamics regarding INEC conduct duwdu: LOL; the election proper to be organized by INEC, is even a bigger form of direct primary, and INEC said it would go ahead as planned, COVID19 or not. So Obaseki's reasoning has no basis and will go up in smoke, just as your own post supporting Obaseki's way of reasoning, is in fact an insight into why some of you fail repeatedly in your political permutations and expectations.
