I have always known that if the plan of the redesigned currency was to stop vote buying by politicians it will fail woefully.
It is only politicians who are "JJC" that will be affected, the real politicians who move bullion vans of cash have systems in place to use and exchange their old currencies for new ones.
And that system runs through the bank MD directly. Nigeria is too corrupt to be saved by one poorly thought out plan. |

That's an unsanctified and probably unsaved "pastor" now what do you think will be the fate of his flock.
This is what has tarnished the veracity of Christianity.
Apostle Paul would say "they profess to know God but in their works deny him being abominable, and disobedient and unto all good work most reprobate"
And why did the lady blur out the man's name? She obviously doesn't know this counsel by Apostle Paul "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light" |

Totally unprofessional, and worse than the criminals they are supposed to stop, because atleast, you will flee on seeing a criminal, but these scums will stop you and even kill you if you dont stop. I was recently arrested in Lagos for taking 1 way --- although I blame myself due to the severe flooding which blocked my path: I never knew in Lagos, you must destroy your car or else you will be nabbed by the insane and senseless task force Sanwo-Olu asked to extort Lagosians. Imagine police officers using iphones promax, all of them oh -- I was inside their bus for over 4 hours before they collected 90k from me! This what the Lagos State Police has become under Sanwo-Olu -- a gang of extorters whose focus has shifted away from security, but just milking the terrified citizens dry. Sanwo-Olu, well done. I mean, how can killers be the one walking around, calling themselves Police Officers in a city like Lagos. This year election, I am voting for BAT, but I am NEVER ever voting for Sanwo-Olu again; and will happily cast my vote for anyone else. The guy has lost control of this Lagos Police totally. What is a governor that can't control the security agency in his own state? There is nothing like Lagos Police Force, it is Nigerian Police Force. |

OVB123: In uk cost of living is very high and her citizen are complaining. The reason why most Nigerians see 60k pounds as reasonable is because of the depreciation of our currency (naira). Think about it, if 1 pound was equal to 1 naira, who will kill his/herself living in the UK. The best way to look at it is calculate the proportion of your wages you spend on different costs viz- a-viz rent, feeding, transport, utility bills, medical etc. If you earn 50k monthly in Nigeria and spend 15k on rent, 3k on utility bills, 7k on transport, 25k on feeding with 0k saved. That translates to 30% on rent, 6% on utility, 14% on transport, and 50% on feeding, 0% savings. Now for someone who ends 2000 pounds monthly irrespective of conversion rate. What is the proportion of his wages to his different expenditure? |

quentin06: Like I said before if your annual income in a developed country is not in 6 digits forget it. There is a different between living a lifestyle and renting it. The living costs there are much higher, rent is paid monthly, medicare is expensive, you have to get permits and licenses for things we take here for granted. Raising children is more expensive, taxation much more higher, here you can keep millions in your account no one bothers you over there witnout some form of immunity that money will be taken from you.
Making a lot of money without knowing how to keep it in your pocket is another route to poverty. I don't know who told you the bolded section. The person lied to you. Or you very likely misconstrued what the person was saying. |

quentin06: OP you have answered your question. The movement of migrant workers from under developed economies to developed ones is the cause of the wage downward spiral. The western countries are looking for cheap labour, the idea of these free scholarships are to ultimately get cheap labour from other countries, I pity the locals because in the long run they re the ones being short changed, you can now understand the hostility towards migrants from the original residents of these countries. But then cheaper labour in the long run will translate into lower cost of living. It's just a cycle. |

Family › Re: Issue Between My Mom And My Wife by dochenaj: 11:34pm On Dec 25, 2022 |
Kswine: Please what is this thing about mother in-law and daughter in-law that doesn’t make them get along?
Am in the middle an issue and don’t know how to proceed, let me tell you how it all started.
I’m the first born of my family, my father left us with my mom and marry another woman. To assist my mom I had to get a part time job while still in secondary school and this really affect my life.
Fast forward to 5 years ago I met my wife and we begin dating, during this time I won’t lie I saw some red flags about her family but was hoping things will change along the line. Her mom is a prophetess in a white garment church, she said my wife was her favorite in all her children. I didn’t count it because I see it as a normal thing for a mother to love her child endlessly.
To cut the long story short, last year my babe got pregnant and we decided to introduce both families and after that she will go stay with my mom for a while because am not always around and she need someone at home with her.
Now during this time mom do complain that she’s not free and do isolate herself from the rest of the family, on many occasion I’ll sit her down and we talk things out only for it to repeat itself.
On the second month of her stay with my mom I told her to go visit her mom maybe when she comes back things will be better, my wife got to her house and told her mom all sort of things and the next thing she and her mom started insulting my mom. All this thing happened around March this year and since then they have been begging because I told her nothing will make me marry her again.
Family meeting upon family meeting has been going on and at the end they want me to forgive her and bring her home which my mom insist.
Now I don’t want to look like a weak man because she and her family went too far by insulting someone I love and cherish and on the other hand I don’t want my daughter to grow up without a father figure in her life, so I don’t know what to do.
Please no insult I don't understand why you would think that forgiveness is a sign of weakness. If your wife is truly repentant then you should take her back after all she is your wife. But then you must get her to appreciate and understand how severe it is for her to insult your mother. |
Family › Re: My Mom Just Rejected My Girlfriend's Gifts by dochenaj: 11:11pm On Dec 25, 2022 |
Supreme145: So I've been dating this lady since early this year and everything has been going on smoothly, in fact I even had to tell my mom about her, the first time I would talk to my mother about a lady, but she sounded not too pleased about the lady. Someone she hasn't even met physically.
I've two younger sisters between aged 17 and 15, I didn't like the way they were dressed the last time I visited home so I always try to send them a token every month end to get new cloths. This Xmas I have a lot on my table and have been brainstorming on how to structure my expenses.
My babe is an only child and a fashion freak so she has loads of cloths in her wardrobe. She offered to give some to my sisters without me even asking. She gave me over 30 different pieces of cloths, and bought an ayaya gown or whatever its called for my mom worth around 15k. This is a student that doesn't even have a reliable means of income and I don't give her much. She opened up that she has been saving to get my mom a gift.
I called my mom this morning to tell her that I would be sending the cloths over with some other stuffs I bought for them and she outrightly rejected the girl's gifts citing spiritual reasons that she cant accept gifts from someone she doesn't know. She even accused the girl of trying to pressure me into marriage by pretending to love my family.
I am 30 years old and have dated countless ladies and none has showed genuine concern towards my family like this particular one. It would be so heart breaking to tell her that my mom rejected her gifts knowing how she enthusiastic she was gathering those items.
Sometimes I get tired of my moms spirituality, she's not considering that my sisters even need those items. Those cloths worth over 50k even as second hand materials. I don't understand why she would dislike someone she hasn't even met before.
How do I handle this situation, I don't know what to do with these items, I can't return it to my girlfriend cos it will really hurt her. My impression of you is that you are a simple minded "enlightened" young man who doesn't realize that the world is beyond what can be seen with the eyes. But your mother knows better. Sadly you are interpreting her rejection of your girlfriend's gift as her rejection of her. Both are not the same thing. Tell the girl that your mom didn't accept the gifts because she will rather wear dress that she bought by herself. Case closed. |

pocom35: Lol..
Be deceiving yourself.
Peter Obi ruling means igbos ruling as far as Nigeria is consigned..
If your narrative is correct.then there is no crime in buhari handling over power to another fulani for another 8 years as long as his vice is from the south and has cabinet members from all states.
Same way there is no crime in having Muslim Muslim ticket ..as far as the cabinet members have christians there.. think Interestingly I have no problem with another Fulani or Northerner being president of Nigeria after Buhari. I don't even have a problem with Fulani after Fulani ruling Nigeria for the next 100 years as long as they have Nigerians at heart. So don't make the assumption that I do. Where you come from doesn't concern me one bit, as much as your agenda and plan for the nation. I know Nigerians see correction as attack but I see it as doing each other a service. So I'll add this it is "concern" not "consign" |

Offpointng: Clans of Peter Obi... The unsaid truth no one wants to agree with is, The SE are not prepared and lack what it takes to rule Nigeria atm and it doesn't look like they'd even be ready in the next decade. But this is a Topic we're not ready to talk about How is the SE or any zone for that matter going to rule Nigeria. That the president comes from the zone doesn't mean the zone is ruling Nigeria. He picks a vice from a different zone and has cabinet members aptly represented from each of the states. So I don't understand this narrative of SE/Igbo ruling Nigeria. |

God1000: I feel very bad for Afghan women under Taliban regime.
They keep introducing draconian laws everyday targeting women and girls.
Spineless Ashraf ghani fled away, I don't know how he will be feeling now, a president that couldn't stand and fight for his people.
Everything crumbled the moment US pulled out
Afghanistan had about 300,000 soldiers compared to 85,000 Taliban fighters then, and yet they all surrendered to Taliban without any resistance.
Only 2500 US soldiers kept the Taliban fighters at bay for so long.
This is why I like president zelensky of Ukraine, his inspirational leadership is commendable, he refused to leave Kyiv when he was advised to do so. How many of these 300,000 soldiers don't buy into the ideology of the Taliban. That's the first question you should ask. |

Are there people who are undecided voters and campaign crowds are the turning point for their decisions.
I doubt that, in a free and fair election. Howbeit campaign crowds has always been justification for rigging in the past.
Well except in the case where you have your opponents chiding with your voters that voting for you will be tantamount to throwing away their votes hence you need to lobby, rent, and pay for crowds to show that you have following and hence a vote for you is not a wasted vote. |

Namzy: So how did the over voting come about? That's a serious security flaw, and puts BVAS into question Over voting has nothing to do with BVAS actually. Actually it is the BVAs that makes the over voting an issue. Because the number of counted ballots is more than the number of people accredited by BVAs. So somehow, unaccredited ballots made their way into the ballot box (basically ballot stuffing) While I am not very versed with the BVAS, there could be a simple way of accrediting the ballots too with the BVAS such that during counting only ballots that have been authenticated with the BVAS are adjudged as valid and counted while the others are discarded as illegal ballots. |
