PoliticsRe: Ganduje Awards $1.85b Contract To China To Construct Kano Light Railway by Dollyak(f): 12:42pm On Sep 02, 2016
Goke7:
Do you know many international business transactions are in Kano, you think it has an international airport for nothing? in terms of agriculture, do you know how productive kano is? Please get more information, google is your friend.
It has the worst PMI (purchasing managers' index ) out of the major states in Nigeria, which pretty much settles it. Let's not talk about IGR or growth outlook shall we.

You used all your space attacking the messenger rather than the message.
Rail project is never a bad idea anywhere but the message is that Nigeria at the moment do not need to spend our monies on projects that are not localised.
Localised in the sense that the money will be spent locally. $1.85b! The truth is that more than $1b of that money is going to China.
We need to mobilise our local contractors and construction firms. They will spend the money locally thereby not putting pressure on the Naira.
Time for international contracts has been halted for now.
Hope you understand the point now.
Indeed. In addition, there won't be any transfer of technologies from china as it is always the case with many African countries cue Ethopia rails agreement with the Dutch.
2. The lack of economic drive (extremely negative purchasing managers index) in Kano means the project is unsustainable. so effectively the federal government would always need to stump up cash to subsidize this toy project.
3. Geographically, in terms of population density I don't even think they should be in the top 10 for this kind of projects.

You have surely been misinformed which is very unfortunate, Kano unproductive? Jesus christ
Most state in Nigeria are unproductive but some more than others. For being such a major state with many 'unfair' historical capital funding, it's really unproductive. Relative to States like Lagos, River and even Kaduna to an extent.
PoliticsRe: Ganduje Awards $1.85b Contract To China To Construct Kano Light Railway by Dollyak(f): 12:13pm On Sep 02, 2016
What's the economic viability of this project? Even more so for a state, according to statistics, has been one of the most unproductive states in the scheme of things. No doubt, the southerners would be forced to stump up the repayment of this sum.

The fact this thread is on front page is scary as this should be in fictional section.

Adaure4ever:
Lalasticlala and Mynd44 should agree with me.
The narrative 'White minorities must give up their ill gotten wealth for lazy Africans' has to be up there among the most ridiculous thing i've ever had the unfortunate chance of reading on this forum, and that's saying something.... How do we determine the people with unethical wealth? Where does this definition stops, especially with 3rd gen whitea minorities?
This, in addition to the narratives about socialism screams of laziness to me. Most African countries would bankrupt and self implode before it starts. Venezuela is a perfect example of what Africa will be like if they dare adopt any form of socialism.

One of the most potent ways of suppressing and dominating a tribe/race has always been a theft or distortion of identity. His deliberate misleading attempt at Yoruba name origin narratives is lame. Typical of people from that region

Yes but if we have 20 of such in the country, our power generation will improve. One step at a time.
The world will leave Nigeria behind I'm afraid. Micro generation is by far the least efficient way of powering a nation.

Is like you are not happy the govt is working hard, sorry chill down grin
You bush people obviously are oblivious to the ridiculousness of this power for a country like Nigeria. In terms of asset management bigger power are way more efficient and lucrative in the long run. Most small plant are only used as a back up in western world or to supply a small town.
Constructive criticism tends to rub most Nigerians the wrong way.

Enemy of progress. Reason, don't let hate blind you. There are already facilities that generate between 3,000-4,000MW on ground already. If we have 10 of this 200MW across the country, it will add up. Hope you know that when we were generating at 5,000MW, steady power was enjoyed all over the country. Before the militants started bombing.
Enemy of progress indeed. Had a steady power with 5GW grin ..... I don't know how you could make that conclusion, even with a low ADMH of 1KVA per house in Nigeria you can't have a steady light with 5GW.
PoliticsRe: Fashola Inspects Power Plant In Kaduna State(pics by Dollyak(f): 9:01am On Jul 14, 2016

It will all make sense in the end. I know power will be steady before 2019.
You know the amount of 215MW plant required to ensure stable electricity? At this rate your won't have steady light in the next 30 years.
PoliticsRe: Fashola Inspects Power Plant In Kaduna State(pics by Dollyak(f): 8:58am On Jul 14, 2016
215MW plant? Nigeria has a long way to go.
