What a pity that even at this time, none of you have seen the work of God in our country. Well, time will tell if those words were honoured in heaven. What i see here is a misunderstanding of the message of prosperity and no wonder the campaign against it. With all due respect, i stand to refute outrightly the statement credited(if rightly) to Pastor Adelaja that the Church is the problem of Nigeria. Though i will not say that the church is fully functioning in its rightful place as salt of the earth, i believe that ignorance and visionlessness have been the problem of our people and not the church. The properity which Jesus brought is that which anoints a man's mind, energizing his thinking faculty such that he is given supernatural wisdom with which he functions excellently, recieving knowledge of witty inventions. It blesses a man in such a way that whatever he sets his hands to do prospers. Brethren, this is not that kind of 'siddon look' properity. I was not taught that. I am a professional and an excellent performer on my job but there is a power at work in me causing me to think and do the extraordinary. That is prosperity!

Of course we will always have broke christians among us. Jesus told us so (John 12:8 )

But i refuse to be poor! I am loaded and that is so that i cn reach out to the lost and help the needy.

Godliness is good but a selfish/stingy man is not godly.

In fact, our giving to the kingdom establishes our righteousness.

I too am a giver and my life has been better off for it. No matter what the adversary brings my way, i always remain on top because my seeds are speaking for me, crying from the sanctuary of God heleluyah!

I can nevr be broke in my life 'because i know the secret of Abundance in Christ.

A man is as he thinks he is. The truth is, every Christian is rich. We all have an inheritance in Christ. But only the doers of the Word enjoy that inheritance here on earth.

They haven't seen anything yet. We will buy up establishments, multinationals for the work of the kingdom. Jesus is coming soon for His church and the time is short. Many are in need of help and Salvation in the world and God is counting on us to reach them.

A church like the one i belong to will only grow richer and richer because from the pastor to the members, Jesus is number one on the agenda. His work comes first before ourselves. When the poor come and hear the word long enough, they become rich. We see destitutes, homeless children, prostitutes, drug addicts brought out of their conditions to the house of God. We give them proper accomodation, feeding and for many, free education. Businesses are set up for some.

THAT IS WHY WE ARE ONLY CHALLENGED TO DO MORE FOR GOD.

What will you rather i do with my money? Build casinos??

Pls answer yes or no to these questions: Is there not a portion of the Koran where Jesus is called the way the truth and the life?

Is there not a portion where He is refered to as the one who will judge the earth?

I think it depends on the circumstances. Whereas there are situations where for concience sake, the individual will go about to restitute for certain sins commited example, returning a car or piece of land which was wrongly acquired. For this to be taught as a doctrine of Christ bothers me b/c in actual sense,how much can you pay that will amount to the price already paid for your salvation.

I see it as a display of self righteousness as well as outright folly to teach this as a doctrine of Christ. Imagine someone going about looking for a man from whom he stole 20 kobo in 1979. Rather than recieve forgiveness and believe the Word of God which declares him a new creature in Christ,he puts himself under satan's condemnation by dwelling on the past. And they see others who have had their guilt rolled away as incomplete. Well if they carry on like that not recieving the fullness of Christ, they'll surely be condemned to hell at the end.

While i believe the christian should do all he can to maintain a clear concience at all times, these things should be put in their proper perspective. Thank you.

Yes i know the gifts and callings are without repentance. But brother, to have those manifestaions continuously in your midst sustained and in increasing measure, you will have to be very much acquinted with the giver of those gifts.

If you know the Holy Ghost, you will know that He gives more grace to him that is faithful.
It is strife, envy, pride, jealousy and the like that frustrate the grace of God more than anything else.

The grace of God is evident among the saints in our universities and in incresing measure. So do not hide behind the cloak of 'the gifts and callings of God are without repentance' because if you don't have any manifestaions in your midst year in year out, the chances are that Jesus is not there.

I am sure there were scripture references there. tke them down. study, compare scripture wuth scripture and the confusuion will end.

I have not seen you quote exact scripture in all your write ups.

This trouser and perming thing has taken many to hell already. Many who do not know the gospel are preaching tradition instead of the Word, condemning themselves and their hearers to hell.

If you know the Holy Ghost, there is nothing to be careful about.

look at what paul wrote concerning the Galatians: for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.

We know how to appreciate good gifts. Pastor Chris is a gift to the body of Christ and you know that.

God will always honour those who honour his prophets and those who come against them, he will do what he does best: leave them where they are and put his grace on His servant in such a way that it will provoke them to envy.

There is no need to be angry about a man's succes, rather bless Him and bless God who gave him such grace and you will be a partaker of his grace.

Did you say zeal without knowledge? How untrue. Look at the universities for instance. Those young boys and girls. full of love for Jesus. Pastor Chris isn't there but he has armed his children with God's word and they are doing exploits for the kingdom. healing the sick, casting out devils. That is not zeal without knowldge my brother for they know the master Jesus.

If we are your brothers like you say, then love us and dont castigate us openly before unbelievers like many have already done bringing condemnation to themselves.

Yes pastor Chris saw a vision of Saints of Old ( not dead saints but saints that are alive in heaven).

Paul did not show up in the meeting according to the vison; they only saught to behold the wonder tht was happening on earth( where 2.5 million gathered for a single night'sservice in the city of PortHarcourt, bringing the city to a standstill).

Yeah brother. God has already given you all of that in his word! Holliness, sanctification and the rest. All that's left for u is to TAKE IT!

Yes i also do. It is a 'wake up call' for our Nation.

The last has not been heard of the Good friday miracle Night that held in lagos on the 14th of April. Testimonies of miracles occuring as a result of this historic meeting are still pouring into Christ Embassy churches and offices.

Millions recieved blessings from God and our Naition is already reaping the benefits of the program. The wicked have lost control of our Nation. The plan of God for our nation will surely come to pass.

As for me, i am yet to finish counting the blessings i recieved by reason of the program. Just to mention a few; I just got a new and more challenging job with a salary that's double what i was earning before and a brand new car (kia cerato). Praise to Jesus!! The Word works!! I am happy about the development. These are the last days and the enemy is doing his best to seize the airwaves but God's people who know their God are doing exploits , taking back what is rightfully theirs.

Many do not understand the purpose of the laws of the old testament and until they do, they can not enjoy true liberty and power of the Spirit.

If I may ask, how come the children of Isreal continually broke the law?

Because, though the law was Spiritiual, they were carnal, dominated by their senses.

God in order to deal with this problem brought about the Spiriual man who's life is not subject to the law of commandments. God said, I[i] will write my law in their hearts,[/i]

Now, the new creation does not need to 'hear thou shall not steal', for he has a teacher living within him. His driven from within to do what is right and pleasing in the sight of God.

This was the difference bw Moses and the children of Isreal. While Moses had such an encounter with God on the mountain, listening to His words, to the point that he was literally transfigured, glowing with God's presence; all the children of Isreal knew was thou shall not,  They did not know the real glory.

That is why up till this day, as many as teach that the christian must live by the law will keep themselves and their hearers estranged from that presence and glory. That veil still remains, shielding them from the glory, it can only be removed when they come to surrender to Christ and recieve from Him that free gift of righteousness and the precious Holy spirit.

There is no room for boasting.

When you are acquinted with the Spirit of the Word, you will know how to handle the law properly( as something that has been abolished). The old testament was written for our learning and the new was written for us to live by.


For the law was not made for the righteous man but for sinners. For the ungodly and for the disobedient.

For those of us who have believed the true gospel, we not only recieved righteousness as a free gift from God; we were made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

The law does not have the ability to make a man perfect. Only the Holy Spirit has that ability to build his church.

The law of the Spirit is that higher law of life in Christ.

God said in Ezekiel: I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statues and you shall keep my judgements and do them.

and the bible says: for it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

According to the bible, there is no need to argue over days, months, holy days or festivals. The essence of our exixtence is CHRIST.

A lot of us are aware that sunday might have been declared a day of worship by men.

But for folks like me who go to church, every other day, i do not see the difference between sunday and monday or wednesday.

I remember a time when i was in church everyday. Mondays: prayer services, tuesdays: foundation school, wednesdays: worship service, thursdays: cell leaders' meeting, fridays: cell meeting, saturdays: early morning prayers and sundays: worship service.

And remeber, if you seek to be justified by the law of Moses, you are a debtor to keep the whlole law, and i hope you are aware that that goes beyond the ten commandments. Of course there will be condemnation awaiting such a one.

The time has come when the true worshipers shall worship the father in Spirit and in truth. We should let the law of the  Spirit guide us into all truth because u see, this law is the only thing that can lift you above sin, the world and the devil.

I would agree with one writer who said that we aught to worship God everyday, and that is very much true, but in all practicality, we can't keep everyday holy, can we? While we must live holy lives everyday, we must also be obedient enough to follow the Lord's command to keep HIS HOLY DAY. Jesus is very much still the Lord of the sabbath.

Isn't this a contradiction? With one breath you say it is not possible to keep everyday Holy and with another, you say it is.

Of course it is possible to keep everyday holy in all practicality. If it wasn't so, we would not be commanded to do so.

Of course we need to keep the sabbath day Holy. But it's important we know what day that is and how to keep that day holy. It is the day of the Church. The day of salvation. This is the day of the rest in Christ.

We must ensure that we are in that rest. We must believe the gospel and cease from our struggles, casting our burdens and cares upon him,  Letting Him work out his purpose and plan of salvation in our lives through that eternal life and the Holy Spirit which He gives freely to them that believe. For it is He who works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

This is the true rest.

Anyone who seeks perfection outside of Christ will always end up in strife, envy and hatred.

In Christ dwells all the fullness of deity. And we are complete in him who is the head of all principalty and power. He is our peace, our righteousness and our salvation.

Now you come to the main point of this discussion - and that's something I had
hoped you'd realise. How does one show submission to authority if there's no
concern for what God says about His stipulations for what goes on in church?

And the questions you asked about the lady in a vehicle falling off the bridge
(I just seriously hope that you're not hoping it happens): it's really immature to
even think of it - the whole chapter of 1 Corinthians 11 deals with the activities
in church, not with someone falling off a bridge! Here's an illustration to buttress
the idea of the circumstances you suggested:

Most of our churches today praise God with musical instruments in church - and
I don't have any problems with that. But what happens when people have no
access to musical instruments, can't they praise God and rejoice in sweet and
beautiful melodies in worship to Him as Paul and Silas did in the Philippian jail
in Acts 16:25? So also: when someone is in a dire situation, I believe their cry
or prayers to God will be answered without waiting to grab a scarf - but when
in church, there should be no excuses for acting as if one was falling off a bridge
by ignoring what God's Word teaches in 1 Corinthians 11:1-16.

So, in church the inspired apostle made clear that this matter of submission to
authority is for both men and women to comply with by way of submitting
to what God has said about our hair and head: men ought not to cover; and women
are indeed to cover. The Bible never supposes that the Holy Ghost dwells on our
heads, so your last line shouldn't have been so hysterical.

I'm sorry to disagree with you about those who use headdress in church activities.
They don't do so "just because they feel like it" - they know what they are doing
as 1 Corinthians 11 says. Most of our liberal churches tolerate a whole lot of stuff
that we simply just let them get away with issues because we're not even taking
the time to read the Scriptures.

Good to know that long hair has been given to ladies for a covering. So what then
happens to women who don't have "long" hair, or how "long" is long? The problem
with this type of reasoning is that the previous verses are ignored and then verse
15 just seems to be all too comfy for people who are persuaded to allow just
about anything in church. If we take that view, then there should be no problem
with men wearing long hair - and believe me, I've seen lots of men wearing such
and going about as 'ministers'; it even gets worse, for it was not too long ago that
I saw another 'minister' with long hair and an earring on just one ear!

On the other hand, besides the time-honoured tradition of pratices in church these
days, why then do people have a concern that men take off their hats and caps in
prayer or in church? I don't think the apostle was actually focusing on just one side
of the issue, for many times we often fail to see that this passage of Scripture is
concerned about men as well. So, if hair is the covering, then for love sake our men
should visit the nearest barber, because this is what the Bible says:

"A man, in fact, should [size=13pt]not[/size] cover his head, because he is God's image and glory, but
woman is man's glory." (verse 7).

It's got nothing to do with feelings; it's got everything to do with what God says.

This is not about arguing over religion - and we gain a lot from these discussions.
Anyone can believe what they want to believe, even if that means that they can
drink "the cup of devils" (I Cor. 10:21)!! I'm sorry, but I don't see how this should
pass into an argument of "rubbishness" as you call it - rather, we're sharing ideas
about this and or other subjects. It may not be to your taste, but others will find
something worthwhile to say.

I do like your reasoning and i'm even more comforted by the fact that you mean well.

But i will like to clear certain areas you might have misunderstood.

You must understand that when you have already believed that such a thing is a sin in your heart, there will be no room for excuse when you commit that  sin. For whatsoever is not of faith is sin. You do not make excuses for sin.

Paul said, for as many of you are justified by the law, you are debtors to keep the whole law.

The presence of God is beyond what many think. He is not just in that building called the church, he lives in  the christian.

We do not go in and out of his presence.

The bible did not say the woman should cover her hair only when in church for we carry the presence of God; according to the bible, She must do so whenever she prays or prophesies.

The bible said, man looks at the outward, God looks at the heart. For in christ there is neither male nor female but a new creation.

I will not have bothered to join in this thread but i think some people have gotta be set free to worship God in spirit and in truth.
