masperano: Hello guyz ,plz how do i watch English premiership matches online, any useful link and info. since i came over here(UK) i have missed all the exciting matches.Hope you know you will need a TV license to watch LIVE tv online? Please take note. |
thething: Thank you for the kind words justwise, they mean a lot. One last question, do you know if this format is the correct format to send in with my administration review? I will staple a printed copy to the application. I just want to make sure i have everything right and give them no excuses to deny me.Sorry about your refusal. You have made a strong argument and the letter you wrote is very okay as Oga Justwise said. Just staple it to the Admin Review Request Notice. To be frank with you, and in my personal opinion though, I have a feeling the refusal has something to do with your country and perhaps why you haven't chosen to return there when they think you should have. Hopefully and prayerfully, you will win your review. All the best! |
royalsweetness: Thanks a lot. Lol, it was an oyinbo at the school. I'd be going to GTB this morning for the domiciliary account. The school is RGU and I'm trying to pay a little over a million naira. Is there a problem with that? The CBN daily limit on POS is #1M. So if you're trying to pay above that, your transaction will keep failing. If your school has an online payment platform where you can split the money and pay 2 halves twice, I bet the payment might be successful. Either option of payment, oanda doesn't concern you. If you pay online, the system uses a rate it has been configured to use. And if u pay with a sterling account, the rate of exchange when u change ur money applies. Just use the Oanda to calculate a rough estimate. Personally, I'll say you use an estimate of #268(that appears to be the max in weeks) though the rate is lower at the moment. |
ochukoccna: Thank you bruv for the complimentI'm trying to adapt o my brother, though it isn't easy. But as per say nobody force me come her, I have to adapt. Though I don't take alcohol, I have nothing against those who take it sensibly and responsibly. I was kinda kidding about it. Ensure you don't forget to exceed dietary allowance o, and drink responsibly. I do hope you're enjoying the weather and integrating well too. |
ochukoccna: Run through a friend/trusted associate/family ,your intended decision to give to a total stranger 40-50% of around £10,000 and watch them hail you as wiser than King Solomon ever wasMr Ochukoccna, now this is just for the record. I always feel your comments here and on the sister thread (besides the recent hunt for better-tasting beer though...lol). You always have the right words, perfect humour and sarcasm and a very good delivery. Personally, I think you should have a blog if you don't have one yet. As for royalsweetness, she asked the question because she needed answers. And she was only being humorous in her reply as you were. |
bastien: pls my lady, invitation or uk student visa, which is betterCorrect me if I'm wrong but your question is rather questionable. Are you trying to escape from Nigeria? Invitation and Student Visa are two different things with two different mode of application and reason for application. So why would you be asking for the better one? |
royalsweetness: I opted to pay my fees with my Master card, I just realised this means giving all my card details to a woman over the phonePractically, in the 21st century, the method is unsafe and ethically wrong too. However, if it is some oyinbo at your school that you gave it to, you are still 24% at risk compared to 92% risk if it were a Nigerian (don't ask about my stats). Anyway, my point is, if you have done it already, don't bother about it and if you are worried, tell your bank to cancel the card and issue you a new one. If you haven't, please just open a dorm account and wire your fees in sterling. By the way, which school is it? Also, were you trying to pay above the equivalent of 1 million naira? |
Dis Guy: ahh the joysss of drinking tea, you guys should try it!!Seconded!!! |
Itstyme: Thanks my man.. You have spoken well as had expected. Am just trying to get the right one done as I have had cases of denial in the past for both countries i.e UK & Canada, I applied for a Canadian study permit but was denied sometime last year and the fear of denial is one thing that I wouldn't want to let occur again. The UK Visa policy at the moment is straight forward and I believe once one can meet all requirements, the chances of denial is low i wanna guess unlike that of Canada after submitting all required documents and follow protocols, one still gets denied. Well at this point I will just have to make a swift decision and see what will work best. @Justwise, I need your advise on this issue as well..Life is all about choices! All these countries have their advantages and disadvantages but ultimately, favour is most important. No one can tell you which country is better to the other, you can only be told the advantages and disadvantages of one over the other. The choice, eventually, will be yours. That said, search deep within yourself about what you want and research each country in line with your desire, then make a choice irrespective of your visa refusal history. We will always be here to answer your questions as long as we have answers to them. All the best in your choice. |
Lexusgs430: Put pillow for nyansh + adjust nyansh position from time to time !!!! (would not be nice if you have a pressure ulcer )Which one be pressure ulcer again o, when it's not iron seat...lol. Cushions go dey the seat well now. |
adaobi123: Trains are expensive. Coach it islol. Coach it is then. Economist Adaobi! ![]() |
Dis Guy: Almost bro!!I won't mind that package too o. Although I stay in Uni accommodation and pay £324 p/m (covers face) but with my Chinese flatmates, no food package o. |
adaobi123: Really ? Okayy.Well, you could come by train too o. I'm not sure about the bus links though. |
ochukoccna: Does anyone know the official CBN rate of the naira to pounds?Sadly, the rate has been between 264 - 267 per pound for weeks now. The BDC in Nigeria is in range 266 - 269. That quote on GTB website is unchanging and thus may be considered incorrect. |
awistle: GTB has been sending me different kind of charges, i see available balance and current balance where by available balance will be lyk 25k difference from current balance, stuffs keep going up and down been trying to remove every money in my mastercard at once and this banks here aint helping, just a maximum of 400 quid u can withdraw so GTB keep dealing with me.The Book balance is your balance with all your money in it. You Available balance is your balance which you have access to. Now, if you withdrew money in the UK and the system ays you, Mastercard,Visa doesn't send the money from GT to the UK bank,Retailer right away. During this time, your available balance is reduced but Book balance remains intact. When the money finally gets "claimed" by the merchant (e.g UK bank) - it can take days - then your book balance will then equal the available balance. |
adaobi123: All those in the north especially places like Sunderland. How do you guys get there ? Train, coach ? Its so far from londonplane things o ![]() |
Greenny: Thanks guys, i will be using my personal account as you said there will be no need TO INCLUDE MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE.November ending is okay. You'll get the visa latest by third week in December. Ensure u have gone through this thread and follow all the UKBA rules to avoid visa refusal. All the best in your application. |
Greenny: Hello house please i need your help.To support what JideVince told you; 1)The Passport renewal thing is entirely up to you. They CAN give you visa that will last beyond the validity of your visa (People have had that in the past) so you'll renew the passport it in the UK before it expires. The FG doesn't renew passports that still have over 1 month before expiry unless they cancel your current passport and issue a new one, I would have advised renewal. But it all depends on the time you have in your hands. 2) As for the middle name issue, are you using your parent(s) bank account details? If yes, that's when you need to submit Birth Certificate. If no, then don't bother submitting it. If you have a need to submit it, then you need to prove to the UKBA that it is an error and let them know which is correct (which should be the one on your passport anyway). If I were you, I'll just have the money in my account and avoid telling the UKBA stories about the name on your Birth Certificate. |
JideVince: Thanks Don! Wish you the best too. Think its kinda of warmer here than London. Yesternight was hell at heathrow. 2 winter jackets + duvet didn't stop from shiveringlol. London's in the south and I don't even think it's as cold as the North but cold is cold. God help us all. Take care and settle in on time. |
JideVince: don! I'm in front of Terminal4 at heathrow right now waiting for a bus to Milton keynes. I got here around 19:20hrs last night but stayed over cos the next available bus was for 23:45 tOo late! Jen1 should still be air-bourne. The cold, though. That's great! All the best bro and I wish you a great time settling down and studying on this cold island. |
fiscalcliff: Chei, una won turn me to terror....see my 'winter jacket wey U go wear go Primark' line dey make headlinesThat your line dey make me laugh anytime I remember it. In fact the line dey chase away my cold sef... And that other one you said, "na cold go chop you yansh from airport to primark." or so. I'm laughing as I type this. |
Jen1: Thanks Adamsjosef and ochuko. Will be leaving toniteHave a safe trip Jen1. I hope you have bought the winter jackets you'll wear to primark o...lol. When is JideVince leaving? I hope he leaves this weekend too so he can quickly get settled for school. All the best, guys. |
danny4sure: Please Nairalanders, we need ur help. My cousin is starting her course by jan in the uk and she is already pregnant.Like Mayo47 said, the least of her problems are visa and POE issues which won't even raise questions if her tummy isn't big yet. one thing I think she should be worried about is how she will cope with her studies (especially if she hasn't studied in the UK before - things are done differently here and it is not easy to adapt let alone with pregnancy). So, if she can defer for one year and come in later with her child, it may be a better option. But in all, let Oga Justwise tell you what he thinks too as he knows more about the matter. |
Jen1: Evening guys. I just got my visa this evening. I bless God and God bless you guys for all the help and encouragement. JideVince, DonOms(for not allowing me to trudge to Lagos out of anxiety), justwise, ur consistency is amazing. Now, that's what I call Multiple Good News! Congrats Jenny! Do have a safe trip and a lovely time studying. |
JideVince: GOODNEWS!!!!Just got my package. I am happy I discovered this goldmine before it was too late! Thank you Justwise, Don oms, princessmoi and every other forumite that made this possible. God bless you all!Congrats to you bro! All the glory to God. I hope you took to Oga Fiscalcliff's advice and have gotten a winter jacket you'll wear to Primark o. Have a safe trip to the UK. |
Afunkybaby: pls justwise and everybody, pls how much does it cost for a student to study in the uk, for masters from toefl exam, visa, school fees, housing, feeding, transport, everything in naira, for two years . ThanksThe required amount depends on a number of variables such as tuition fees, location of studies in the UK, exchange rate at different times e.t.c. So, technically, no one can give you a price. But just so you have an idea for 1-yr MSc, tution (£9,000 - £16,000), Accommodation (£3500 - £5000), Visa Application + t-fare estimate (#100,000), Estimate on Feeding and miscellaneous (£3,000 - £5,000), Estimate on TOEFL/IELTS (#40,000) and Flight to the UK (<=200,000). That's pretty much a clean estimate you can work around. If you want to convert £ to Naira, it depends on the time of year and other factors but to be on the safe side, use #265 = £1. |
Jen1: Don Oms, is the UPS Tracking code same as the one for the vfsNo! The UPS tracking code is the waybill number written under a bar code on the duplicate waybill you were given. It may be about 9 numbers in all and usually starts with a letter like H. |
Jen1: Will they send it directly from Abuja or to Lagos first? Cause that's my dilemma. If they send it to Lagos first, it might take another day for the UPS people to deliver it to PH, or don't you think so? Can I pm you?Your package will be sent to Lagos first and then handed to UPS who will then deliver it to you. Here is my advice: Don't go to Lagos (You may miss your package). Keep tracking your package until you see "Passport Collected" or "Passport delivered to UPS." Once that is done, go to UPS site and start Tracking Phase 2 (My guess is that VFS will give your package to UPS the night it gets to them and UPS will send it to PH @ around dawn [05:00am] and it will get to PH before/by afternoon.) How far is UPS head office in PHC to your house? You have to be @ UPS head office in PHC the moment your package tracking status changes to "Arrival Scan at PHC." (Depending on the time VFS hands over your package to UPS, it won't take long to get the package to PHC.) Don't wait for them to put it in their vehicle for delivery - I don't trust UPS's service. As far as I'm concerned, it's the "safest, least stressful and quickest" method to get your package considering your situation. |
philni055: Welcome to newcastle. Spoken with derby D who is also in newcastle. Thanks a lot bro! I should contact him (DerbyD) too, though he's in Northumbria Uni I believe. |
Deolu_1993: Amen, I claim it meyn..and thanks my guy..btw pls I was thinking of which flights will be the best to the uk, klm, airfrance, which do u recommend, pls?Practically, it depends on your preference. Check the beginning of the previous page for the answer I gave chieftekena I'll also advice you enter your flight details on flight agent sites (e.g. wakanow) to see things like price quotations and duration. When you've made your choice, go directly to the site of the airline for more info then purchase ticket...you'll save a few thousands if you buy ticket directly from airline's website instead of using agent. |
JideVince: I aPpreciate, Don Oms! Yeah! We'll share the goodnews soon. How is Newcastle?Amen. Newcastle dey o my brother, I'm just laying low and observing. The cold is still a little friendly though. I wish you guyz the best. |
fiscalcliff: So somebody coming afresh into the UK should not come with warm clothing no matter how little?Oga Fiscalcliff! You're too funny o. I couldn't help but laugh out loud at the bolded words. Your sense of humour is topnotch.fiscalcliff: @ Jidevince and Jen1, no fret too much, una visa go soon comotPosting on this thread and encouraging others is a way of "giving back," considering what Oga Justwise and others have done for thousands of Nigerians. Thank you bro. By the way, how are you finding the UK? Sunderland, right? |
