royalsweetness: Lol, it's not like that o. I don't think I could have pulled it off with no mistakes at one trial, especially since no one else had really been involved with my application except you guys here. So I really owe a lot to this thread and I plan on being here for as long as I can afford it.
Okay. Very good.

Oga Mayo47 and awistle over to you guys now to make sure I have a smooth transition from Nigeria to UoS grin.
Congratulations to you and royalsweetness. I told you not to worry but you wouldn't listen. Ensure you start preparing early and get few winter clothes before travelling. God be with you guys and all the best in your endeavours.

danny4sure: Pls guys one more help. I Have my CAS now and I want to travel for my visa application by wed or thursday, but the problem now is that I want to print my statement today tues, and the last transaction was on Friday 13th Dec (I withdrew with ATM). So can I print from 15th Nov to 17th Dec even without any transaction yterday huh
Secondly, the transaction thing a day before printing statement is it one of the UKBA requirements? And must the transaction be by deposit or can It be either deposit or withdrawal huh Me I like to Withdraw with
ATM ohh grin
Plssss Helllp
Yes please, go may go with printing your statement (whether you make a transaction today or not).
The transaction-before-printing advice is to ensure you show enough required detail on the statement and prove the money is still there. Personally, I will advice you to make a transaction today (you can withdraw small change as long as the balance is sufficient for your required money) and print tomorrow...but you're safe if you don't.

gloaded: On this forum? I have read through the last 10 pages and only those who submitted seem to have gotten response. The other 2 that made similar complaint I presume are yet to know their fate. Unless you are talking about some people not on the thread.
Well, a friend of mine who applied in Abuja did not submit his App8 and got his visa after 3 working days. I mentioned that two reported it earlier because I had believed one person who shared her visa news on the thread didn't submit her App8 too but I checked the thread again and realised she did. So that makes it one person that I know of; sorry I said two earlier. Anyway, it's no reason to panic.

gloaded: @all
Reading through all the posts here I have a major concern. I submitted my visa application at ikeja last week monday and the lady there returned my appendix 8 form saying it wasn't needed.
It seem every other person is submitting and also it is written on their website.
Can my visa be denied because of this 'error'
on the part of the lady at the visa centre?
Apparently, the Appendix8 may have become somewhat obsolete as many other people did not submit it since the website upgrade by UKBA recently. At least two people have reported getting their visas without submitting the form. NO WORRIES!

bunburized: I did subscribe but got just one sms till date. I wonder if it is now N400 for one sms. They even failed to send me an update sms that the passport is on transit to vac, so the point of paying for it is defeated.
Anyway, I will be there Monday. Don't think I can be patient enough to wait till tuesday.
Although there is about 70% chance the SMS will come on Monday morning and a 95% chance it will come by evening, I still suggest you're patient enough to get the message first (or see your tracking status changed). There is nothing to be anxious about. However, all you need to gain entry is that photocopy of your passport info page (with your receipts stapled to it). Everyone gets 2 messages for 400Naira grin

danny4sure: Thanks @ royalsweetness lol, na to dey on safe grounds ohhh. Alright and noted grin
One more question ohh grin I have been withdrawing from my account ever since ohh, even today sef, though the bal hasn't gone below 3m. Hope say no be another wahala ohh
royalsweetness has answered your question. But to add; did you make a transaction on Monday, 18th Nov? If you did, then you can print statement from 18th Nov - 16th Dec, if you don't want your small balance to show. But like she told you, it doesn't matter anyway since UKBA will not ask about it.
As long as the account balance (at any point in time within the 28 days) did not drop below the required money [i.e. required money >= account balance (for 0<=t<=28days), then no cause for worries even if you withdrew everyday.

Only if you are using your parent's account for proof of funds and not yours.

danny4sure: Thanks @ royalsweetness, sorry for this too-many questions grin but one needs to be on the safe side. Ok, the second part of my question wasn't addressed, I need to know if the account "MUST" show the date when the money was paid into my in bulk ie 15th nov huh Or can I just print from the day after which is 16th nov huh
Print a statement from 15th November to 16th December. It's advisable you deposit a small change into the account on the 13th of December(Friday) so you'll just print the statement on the 16th of December (Monday). All the best.

bunburized: Mine was also returned. It seem to be the new "policy".
The lady took a look at it and returned it saying it is not needed.
Same with other tier 4 applicant I know.
Actually, I noticed that almost everything on the Appendix 8 form was covered on the online Vaf9 form I filled. I assume the form has been updated to cover information needed on the Appendix 8 hence no need for a paper version.
The recent upgrade to the website may account for this new procedure.
As long as they returned the form themselves at the vfs centre I do not see any problem with that.
Okay. I guess it's the new policy since the updates they made recently. But no one reported it earlier before royalsweetness did.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by DonOms(m): 2:26am On Dec 10, 2013
royalsweetness: Sorry, what they did not collect is my appendix 8 form, that's the handfilled one. I gave it to the woman and she gave it back to me.
Why would your VAF9-App8 form be returned to you without submission with other documents? That can be risky and lead to delay if not worse.
PhonesRe: How To Stop 'spam' Calls From GSM Operators by DonOms(m): 1:46am On Dec 08, 2013
For one, those calls are not called "spam calls" but they are called Robocalls. It is a recent mobile communication tool that is used for infomercials, campaigns or timed message delivery. It is not in Nigeria alone that these calls are received, but in many other countries including the US and UK.

Here in the UK, new laws against robocalls were made late this year so as to protect people's privacy. Basically, as long as one does not subscribe for these calls, one shouldn't receive it. But as we know in Nigeria, things are abused. I once called AIRTEL about it and the agent who picked the call explained how "normal" it is and told me he receives the calls too while he claimed the calls are not made frequently as I claimed.

Anyway, I support the blocking of the numbers that make these calls and send the SMSs but beyond that, individuals can call the service providers and complain about the calls and SMS, and also notify NCC through their offices or website. This way, very soon, something will be done about it.
Christianity EtcRe: Mandelanism - A New African Religion? by DonOms(m): 4:47pm On Dec 06, 2013
ROSSIKE: Is it time to ditch Jesus and Muhammed and adopt MANDELANISM as the new African religion?

It's main tenets - love, freedom, forgiveness, humility, selflessness, compassion.

I see the passing of the great man as the perfect opportunity to create a new African philosophical/spiritual belief system based on his humanist principles.
You don't have to dump Jesus for Mandelanism, While Mandelanism will make you be a better person to influence the world and make it a better place (which in turn makes people give glory to God upon you), JESUS CHRIST is the Way, the Truth and the Life and anyone who believes in HIM will gain the Kingdom of God. Philosophy is never a replacement of Salvation, it is a supporter of it.

For the most basic, download google chrome and visit that link.

To each, his own wink
VFS is an indian company and their backbone servers are indian links. Not only is the site real, the issue shouldn't be an argument. Let the said brother just track it. After all, the message didn't say he should come to a particular place for collection or that he should send further details or money.

keji11: Thanks Don oms,I have the deadline on my CAS already, but should I still go ahead writing d letter notifying d 2weeks extension deadline or ECO will see it on the CAS.
The letter is nt necessary then. But if you like, you can still write it; that will mean you're telling the ECO to do his job well by opening his eyes...lol.

keji11: i have not applied but when the money is 28days matured and about to apply,I will have 10 working days to school resumption and 2weeks for late resumption left .Please reply justwise or anybody.
I understand your situation and it is not uncommon with us Nigerians. The implication is this: It is risky. God forbid, (1) but if you have delay in your visa processing, it might lead to refusal; (2) or if refused visa, there will be no time to either re-apply or submit an Admin Review Notice.
While that is said, and in the hope that the above will not happen, this is what you should do. ENSURE you let your school indicate the deadline of resumption on your CAS. And if not, let them write an additional note along with your CAS to UKBA. And if not, let them send you an email telling you of the extension and then you print it out and add it to your application. Also, you may need to write a short formal introduction letter you will address to the UKBA and note there that there is a two-week extension on your resumption date.
If this is done, you will reduce the risk of refusal due to late application. But ensure you have every other thing correct and in order because you must be given the visa, else you will be forced to wait till another admission entry. Good Luck!

I was asked the very same questions that were listed here in response to my query.
I really appreciate the effort, patience and time.

Happy to hear the "appointment letter" wasn't a problem at the end of the day. But seriously, we didn't need to mention that, sis. Once you book an appointment, there is an instruction at the end of the booking that you must print your appointment letter and bring it with you to the Visa Application Centre. I think the print dialogue box even comes up immediately without any stories. Also, it has always been mentioned on this thread in recent times. Wait a minute! Did you use your mobile phone to book the appointment?
Christianity EtcRe: Women Wearing Trousers: Conversation With A Brother by DonOms(m): 2:26am On Dec 06, 2013
vickyO: I'll love to see your face on that day also.
When you see me wearing my glorious crown.

And before It gets too late let me deal with the issue of revelation.

If God revealed something to you, note that it is just for you.
E.g. God told Abraham to go kill His son. He obeyed without telling anyone.
If he had told Sarah she'd have called him a mad man and discouraged him
If he had told his friends, they'd have discouraged him.
Does that makes Sarah a sinner? Nope.
He told no one, and God blessed him more due to his obedience.
Does this now mean Abraham should go about preaching that
the only way to get God's blessing is by trying to sacrifice your son?
No. that's why I said God deals with everyone according to their level of faith.
So if God tells you not to wear trousers, don't tell others about, carry your cross, obey him and he'll bless you just as he did Abraham.
Develop a personal relationship with God.
God tells some people not to marry, not to own properties, not to settle in a place, e.t.c
Does it mean people who do the opposite of the above are sinners? No, it doesn't...............

I'm quite tired and I hope you understand my little write up.

Trouser, skirt and other clothing aren't the sin, the flesh is.
Let's deal with the flesh and move on.
I have been reading this post silently and never felt to comment amid the "unwarranted" arguments which has been flying around (just as it has been flying among Christians in the last decade.) While I find this post interesting although I refrain from airing my own personal views on the subject matter, this post of vickyO's seems to be the only worthy post of my "like" and "quote." It doesn't necessarily mean I have been agreeing with her all along, it only means we know the truth and hide from it (or we don't actually know what the truth is.) I can only pray that God in His infinite mercies will open our eyes to know what is important to HIM and what is not; what is worthy of our precious time and what is not, and finally, that we may not "neglect the more important things" [Matt 19:23] while we are at the business of pointing fingers; AMEN. I pray God keep us burning for Him, even as we await the coming of our LORD Jesus Christ.

kellyemms: My dad deposited d maintainance money in his account last friday can we start to count d 28days the next day which is saturday or we start counting from the begining of the next working days which is monday. Also According to Don Oms, he was like we should make transaction on d first day. If i am to count frm saturday banks dnt open on saturday whr by i wil b able to make transaction. Lastly, he collected some little loans from the bank to complete d maintainance. Do i need to add the loan letters with my visa application for the interview? Plz make una help me out oooo
Reference to the letters in bold: See me see yawa o. When did I say that? Please, always try to patiently read posts and understand them so as to avoid misinformation. I have always noticed people misquoting (or misunderstanding) others on NL and I think it's only simply because we do not pay attention to details but rush through everything in a new fast-paced world we have created for ourselves.
Anyway, to answer your question. The 28-day rule DOESN'T SAY it is working week. So your first day of counting is the Saturday i.e. DAY1 of 28 is Saturday.
And NO, you do not have to make any transactions the next day. What I had earlier advised is this: When you make complete-money deposit on the 1st of December, don't tell the bank to print a statement from 02 Dec - 29 Dec, because the implication is that the deposit of the 1st Dec will not reflect and the ECO may not be sure your money was there on the 1st Dec if your next transaction on the statement is not the 2nd of Dec. I know that may look confusing but we have had people lose visa application fees because of it.
So in essence, when you print your statement, let the 1st day on it be that same day you made full payment or a day before it. And try to deposit a little amount a day before the day you print your statement.
NO, DO NOT include any loan letters. It is not the ECO's business where you got money from.....We have said that times without number here.
I hope your comment on misquoting me hasn't made this post rather verbose.

Pay your money anytime you like. Start counting 28days from the next day after payment and ensure you have at least 20 days for visa processing before your school resumes.

Please, Print Your Statement From November 30th to December 29th/30th. Ensure that you have a transaction on the first day of counting your 28 days, else the ECO might not be very clear and assume you have not had the money since the time you claim to have had it.
RomanceRe: Nigerian Men Abroad Prefer Marrying From Home? - Why? by DonOms(m): 1:30pm On Dec 03, 2013
Many people have spoken well on this matter but adding more won't be too much I guess grin.
The main problem with those who go home to marry people they hitherto haven't had a relationship with is "misplaced priorities." A guy goes to Nigeria from overseas, after one week he meets a girl introduced to him, marries her after a month, zooms off overseas after marriage with his bride. Trust me, he might as well have set the clock on a time bomb. The truth is, you can get a good Nigerian wife anywhere. Although the chances are slim overseas since you have a little fraction to pick from. What is most important is putting God first by praying to get a good wife, making yourself a respectable husband material, then shining your eyes to find one that will love you and make you happy, whether she can cook or not.
RomanceRe: Nigerian Men Abroad Prefer Marrying From Home? - Why? by DonOms(m): 12:41pm On Dec 03, 2013
Alleinad: this thread has been an eye opener to me. There are virtuous women everywhere, it just depends on where you're seeking them from. I also think alot more ladies need advice, its not like they are intentionally that way, its just that they dont know any better. the media has brainwashed them n nobody has sat them down to re-orientate them. my mum once sat one of such girls, very beautiful girl, n spoke to her. the girl used to pass our shop, she was always dressed indecently n had been searching for a husband for some years, after my mom spoke to her, she broke down n cried for hours, she said no one had ever told her these things. long story short, she changed n is now married.
Women r not the only ones at fault, men too. we r in an era where u shudnt beat a woman in the name of correcting her. you shudnt shout at her because ure angry, shes not ur child or slave. you shudnt force her for sex cos ure her husband n then say its not rape, it is. any woman wud react to such . its nt that shes not wife material. if u treat her like filth, she 'll lose all respect for u.
Don't mind that I quoted you. I just love it when people with correct brain comment.

anwunta: We guys are quick to quote the 'submissive' part of the bible, but forget to quote the full verse of the particular scripture. What happened to the second part that said "husbands love your wife and do not be bitter towards them"?. If you love and care about your woman immensely, she will naturally submit to you without anyone saying it. And remember, the submission is to HUSBANDS not tyrant or bullies. Like sexkillz said, some of these men want a tame woman that they can bully around and it's not right. If you can't care and love your wife very well, don't expect her to submit and respect you. Respect is reciprocal my brother

@OP, another reason is culture. Culture matters a lot and some people wants to imbibe such cultures into their kids and who's to do better than a nigerian woman?. Also forget all the thousand threads created to talk about the faults of nigerian women(they have their faults), the truth is no place like home. If you get a good nigerian woman as a wife, my brother, you have gotten a good thing cool
Your head is very correct.
