Professional Masters doesn't qualify you for PhD only M.sc qualifies you for PhD ...

For instance if you plan to advance your academic career and you stuck on Your professional Master, (No job mantra) you won't be able to use it to progress further in academic pursuits...

That's the only technical reason I see .... any other reason is an Allusion caused by Nigerian Mindset of always working for somebody in somebody's business....

Do ur passion , once it's done you won't regret a damn thing.

One thing you should know, though, is that when the time comes to get that job, that promotion, that appointment, and you need a Master's or higher degree and you don't have it, boom!

The opportunity is gone and given to the one who has. Talking from experience. Do what you can, while you can.

This is it....... ... My sister usually tells me .. You can quickly run home to pick your certificates when the time of need comes but you can never quickly run to school to obtain one when the emergency comes.

Please go for your M.SC (not professional masters) if you have the means. Most multinationals and banks recently (I know of Ecobank) now includes M.SC. as requirements for even Trainee positions.
It equally prepares you for opportunities in Academia and international NGOs.
Most importantly, don't go for Masters degree for the purpose of getting a job only but do it with the best of your abilities and learn new skills and ideas in your field.
If you can come up with a ground-breaking research in your field, that alone can take you places.
Yes, in Nigeria you can succeed without connections if you know what you are doing.

This was my ideology for undergoing my M.sc ... Don't pursue academics or professional qualifications with sole purpose of blue collar jobs ... what a wrong aims .....

I have a igbo friend who has concluded his M.sc and still sitting in his shop selling Gas and electronics..... Very soon You will see Ekene International..... He will become employer of labour.... With his M.sc if he rise and their is appointment opportunities, he will take it and nobody will disqualify him due to lack or dearth of education....


What I learnt from M.sc Accounting and My ICAN hustle as well as all the money I invested could never have been otherwise profitable .... The knowledge base and maturity is immense ....

No one is an Island but there is a mental paradigm shift in me ....

The reason why the parent and family of the op are hurt is because they believe they gave birth to the said lady and it is her turn to do same just the way they did for her.

The Parent being hurt is because their siblings marriage is important to them , it is also a point of pride among their peers that "I'm a grandmother" .. .... !!

You are right though but look at it for a second, if not for capitalism and civilization, one of the best thing to happen to humans is procreation else the world will end.
That was why i said giving birth to atleast a kid is not bad. No matter your condition, you and your wife should be able to raise a kid even if you are riding bike and wife frying akara by the road side. You can still live a quite gentle life which is not bad.
We all can't be rich or live average you know?
With a good plan, a poor man with his productive wife can live normal life.
