@OP, I don't think there's anything to be worried about. If you're comfortable with NIV, by all means continue. I personally use KJV, NLT occasional amplified in my personal study.

As I said at the other thread, and yes, as disconcerting as it sounds, KJV contains many verses which were not in some earlier manuscripts, hence its removal in later translations. However, I believe this does not in any way negate the validity and inerrancy of the Bible as a whole. It remains and will remain God's infallible message to his creation.

Simple, just 3steps...
1) learn and understand the Hebrew language, for the Bible was originally written in Hebrew.
2) Get the original Bible, untranslated and read the whole from word to word.
3) Before venturing into 1 & 2,pray for the SPIRIT's guidance and divine understanding and interpretation of His word.

And where do you get the original hebrew text from?

MrPresident1:

Ishi, there is no relief yet, we have been shouting about the authenticity of latter day Bible translations and the motives for their production and circulation for a while now, hopefully a few more people will do their own research and get to their own conclusions, everyone will not see it yet, but blessed is the one who is able to make the connection, because it is the first step out of slavery.

The NIV Bible is heavily doctored and compromised, is it when they publish the gay Bible that my people will wake up from their slumber? It may just be too late by then.

The Bible is written in figurative language; deep allegories, metaphors, etc. It was never meant to be literal, or literal interpretations are the very first steps, remember Paul warned about the dichotomy of milk and milk and the Proverbs tell us about understanding the dark sayings of old.

The NIV compromised Bible in its fake and dubious attempt to make the Bible literal (purportedltyto make it easier to understand) has heavily doctored and watered the Holy Scriptures to suit an evil agenda, this is a very serious attempt to hide the truth of God's nature, and it is a direct attack against God.

See how the KJV and NIV renders this verse:

Isaiah 45:1 KJV
Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;

Isaiah 45:1-7New International Version (NIV)
45 “This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut:

Look at how KJV renders the verse, pay close attention I know you are very good with English, you will realise that 'loosening the loins of kings, and opening the two leaved gates' is figurative language for the effect of fear that now causes one to lose control over ones bowels. God is telling Cyrus that He will put Cyrus' fear in the nations he would subdue.

Now compare with the rubbish NIV has interpreted. This is one of many.

Daniel told us that the wise will understand.

How do you know KJV is the right one, and NIV is wrong? Hope you are aware they were both translated by humans like you and I. Or do you have access to the original manuscripts?

THE NIV WAHALA!

I have had to address privately questions bordering on the NIV and the name of Jesus. Some of the inquiries are through my inbox while others are direct.

I didn't consider it worth troubling myself about but since the faith of many is being rattled I'm obligated to talk. FIRST, let me say that I've used NIV all my life and find it very good. I also find it worrisome that those calling it names demand that it be torn or burnt. NEXT, let me say that the Bible does not warn only against removals from but also additions to the Bible. Having said that, the critics have not proven to us that the KJV with which they judge the other versions is not an addition to the word of God.

THIRD, the criticisms assume the KJV is the original bible. That is not so. The KJV like the NIV and other versions, is a translation from the original manuscripts which are in Hebrew, Greek and aramaic. To verify the accuracy of any version therefore will require comparison with the original manuscripts and not other versions. To do this one has to not only be versatile with the original languages but also the science of translation known as TEXTUAL CRITICISM.

I happen to be introduced to elementary knowledge of textual criticism while doing a masters degree in theology at the evangel theological seminary Jos. I can tell you that I've not yet found any reason to rate the NIV anything less than the best scholarly work on translation of the bible.

I know that ZONDERVAN is nothing but a printing press. It is not responsible for the translation of the Bible. It also has published many other sound Christian literature as well as many ungodly ones. NIV was a work done in 1964/65. From the claims of the critics Zondervan was bought over in 1998, 34yrs later. How can that nullify the accuracy of the NIV. AGAIN, I observed that all the "missing" texts are footnoted by the translators.

FINALLY, I have been around for sometime in this race. This is not the first time it's coming. it wont be the last. I think that this is an attack on the Bible. The devil does not want the Bible in the people's language. He fought it at the beginning killing Tyndale and co for translating the bible from the vulgate (the Latin version by Jerome) to English. NIV employed the principle of dynamic equivalent in translation which simplifies the language without losing the force of the truth as in the coolparaphrases. The KJV is the product of literal translation and is limited to the Masoretic texts of the Bible.

My take is own as versions as you can afford and use the one that best guarantees the understanding of the truths therein.

This is not exhaustive but I hope it can give you peace in these perilous times. God bless you all and keep you blameless until his coming day.

@Christaddicted, in the light of this, don't you think you should amend your original post?
Religion / Re: Heaven Or Hell? by doofanc: 2:55pm On Jul 11, 2015
@OP, A pagan cannot be righteous simply because it has very little to do with his/her good works. Righteousness is a gift from God; when one believes and accepts the finished work of Christ.

Rom 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

A pagan is a pagan not because of his evil works per say, but because of his refusal to accept Christ. So no matter how good and lofty his action are, or how 'pure' he is, the end that awaits him will be very unpalatable unless he gives his life to Jesus Christ.
Religion / Re: Disregard ALL Messages On The Social Media About The NIV - Let's Discuss by doofanc: 11:48am On Jul 11, 2015
No be small thing. There are no less than five threads this week alone on the issue. But you should understand why its causing such a storm.

Many anchor their faith on the Biblical inerrancy. God cannot lie, so His Word must be, and is, completely true. Indeed, God breathed His sacred Words to the original authors and what they wrote was totally true to the last dot.

However, much of those manuscripts - the NT in particular - are no longer available. What we have are manually transcribed versions some of which, many scholars believe, contain interpolations - wilful/inadvertent additions by scribes.

Thus while the original texts contained the infallible Word of God, the same cannot be said of the various translations, notably the greek NT, even in the KJV.

I understand that to the average Christian, the mere thought that God's divinely inspired Word has been tampered with causes the nape hair to stand. It raises disconcerting questions. If the Bible I'm holding contains things not said by God, how then can we trust any part of it??

Gladly, a lot of brilliant Bible scholars Willaim Craig, etc, have done justice to the issue. I also read an article on translation process , posted by Oladegbu some time back, and it made a lot of sense.

Those behind the recent attempts to discredit NIV are either totally ignorant of Biblical translation/transliteration process or actually have malicious intent: why the focus on NIV btw? A lot of other contemporary versions also exclude some of those verses seen in KJV.

As Craig puts it, it doesn't mean every word in our translated Bibles are true, it means the message is true. Whether KJV, or NIV, or NLT, all of which I use, the central message remains clear and unambiguous: Christ is the risen King. Those who believe in Him and repent of their ways will be saved. Shalom!

@ Biafrans, you may have justifiable hatred for the Nigerian project and as such choose to align with the radio guy. Fine. I would however appeal that you know where to draw the line especially when spiritual things are involved. Let it not be that when certain things start happening, you start wondering why. Its not a threat, just an appeal for us to tread carefully in spiritual matters.

It's amazing how religious people become when people mention homosexuality. But mention divorce, greed, GLUTTONY, and fornication and religion goes into hiding.....

Religion does not "go into hiding". The Bible expressly condemns all those vices you mentioned. The reason homosexuality seems to be getting special mention is the attempt by a brainwashed group to portray it as 'normal' or acceptable, even by Biblical standards, which is lie from the pit of hell.

For what its worth, I'm yet to come across anyone who would try to justify stealing or fornication - you dont see people forming an association of proud fornicators!

Bottom line, sin is sin, whether homosexuality or fornication or stealing. Those involved should repent and be saved. Shalom

You guys are funny. Do you know how the KJV was obtained in the first place? Obviously not, going by the comments of needless hysteria I'm seeing.

Firstly, The Bible as we have it today was not written in English. It had to be translated from the available manuscripts by humans - who were not infallible - like you and I.

Secondly, the original manuscripts penned by the authors of the various chapters were no longer available to the translators. The texts used by the KJV translators were the ones copied by scribes from the original. It should be noted that during Biblical times, there were no printing press available: in order to make another copy, it had to be hand written. One cannot discount the possibility of minor transcriptional errors in the process.

With the publication of the KJV, more manuscripts (eg, Codex sinaticus), some of which have been found to be older and more reliable than the texts used by the KJV translators, were discovered. In some of these manuscripts, some passages--eg those highlighted above by OP--were either not found or were rendered slightly differently. This led some scholars questioning the credibility of some of those verses i.e. the possibility that they deliberately/mistakenly inserted during transcription.

To their credit though, I know NLT (not too sure of NIV) usually includes footnotes at the bottom of the pages that explain the missing verses.
