Nice one Teempakguy. The gist in layman terms is that the rotation of the earth creates a force that is pushing us away from the earth, that force is called centrifugal force. If this was the only force acting on us, we would all be thrown into space. But luckily, there is another even bigger force acting in the opposite direction that is pinning us to the ground, this force is called gravitational force.
Another reason why we don't feel the rotation of the earth despite the fact that it is spinning at the equator at a speed of 1,674.4 km/h is because the angular velocity is very low compared to what you might get from driving through a roundabout. |

I thought it was simple enough. So how is this your notion of God moral? Just like the teacher in your analogy was evil and cruel in his actions towards the children, so too is your notion of God evil and cruel. Why will a God of love an justice torment people in fire for eternity when their sins was for less than 100 years? |

cloudgoddess: And not once throughout your life have you considered other ways she could have effectively taught you that lesson? Burning you and potentially causing serious irritation to delicate body tissues, was necessary for you to learn to respect peoples' things? Your mother was abusive and probably borderline psychotic, and you rejoice for it. This clarifies so much about your way of thinking. You've been desensitized to abuse, so understandably your sense of justice is skewed and inhumane.
And on top of that, this analogy is still lacking because it does not even remotely reflect the hell situation in severity or implication. A more equal comparison would be, instead of putting pepper in your eyes and anus ( ), your mother splashing petrol on your eyes and anus, lighting them on fire, and repeating this process for literal infinity, with no chance of you returning to a state of non-suffering. Repeated pain and torture for the rest of existence, far longer than any human lifespan. Eternal punishment for a finite crime. Brilliant post. |

If you believe in hellfire try to answer these questions.
If God is just, then how can one justify an everlasting torture for the sins of a few years?
If life is a gift from God, why can God not take back His gift from those that choose to misuse it instead of just watching them burn forever?
If there can be no end to the sufferings of those in hell or hope of redemption, then what other purpose does it serve other than making God to appear as a sadistic monster?
Since we were not consulted before being made alive, should we as sentient beings not be given the choice to seize to exist if we happen not to like the gift of life?
Should we worship a God that is wicked and evil enough to watch souls burn for eternity just because we are too scared to stand on principles of love, justice and mercy? |

Liar. He has already admitted that he attends JW and study the bible with them so stop deceiving yourself.
Again, if everything ends in physical death why will God need to raise dead Sinners up on the last day only to kill them again? Does that make sense? You have failed to answer my question because you are afraid of the truth it poses before you. How has Jozzy4 lied? His statement was that anyone that objects to the notion of hellfire is not necessarily a JW, so it would be wrong to just assume that I was a JW. He did not say that I could never be one. Since my clarification came after his statement, it then means that your accusation of him being a liar is false. The second death in Revelation implies that some people will die again. Doesn't it? But to know why, you have to understand that the judgement day isn't a literal twetyfour hour day but a thousand years of Christ's rule. |

I've yet to see a Nairaland Christian express horror, disgust, or even vague sadness at the notion of hellfire.
The prospect of human beings being roasted ETERNALLY seems to even warm the smallest part of their cold, cold, crushed, cruel, strange, dark hearts. Maybe you have not been attentive enough, there are lots of christians like myself who think the notion of hellfire is the ultimate expression of evil from a demented mind. We believe that the punishment for sin is death and not life of everlasting horrific torture. Indeed, how can someone have complete joy in heaven knowing that there are people in absolute agony in hellfire? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Hell Fire Real? Considering That GOD Is God Of Love by dorox(m): 7:52pm On Jul 18, 2016 |
Scholar8200: We were not there in existence to be consulted. However, we can choose what course we'll follow after we are born. That is precisely why it doesn't make sense to create a thinking being with free will and not give the being the choice of whether to continue to stay alive by abiding to your rules and regulations or to revert back to being lifeless if they choose not to abide by them. Since God is just, on what grounds should He deny you the consequence of the path you chose? That is the logic behind it all. This your logic fails to address the issue at stake which is whether the scale of justice is balance when infinite torture is weighted as the consequence of sin, and not whether there should be a consequence of sin. For example, most people would readily agree that a father has the right to discipline his child for gross wrongdoing, but should the father pluck out the eyes of the child for whatever offence, he would be condemned by everybody as a wicked father. God's design of man is higher than that of animals. Man was created by an Immortal God for an immortal purpose. Yes the fall has made man unable to serve that purpose, yet Jesus is come to once again make that purpose possible for all who believe in Him.
However, nothing erases/alters that part of immortality.
Let me point this out, God is a Spirit and is Immortal (He can NEVER cease to exist). Man too, is immortal and though he lives in a flesh, he may leave same but does not cease to exist. Yes, it is true that man was created for a higher purpose, but if a man chooses not to attain that purpose should that be a reason to torture the man. Why not uncreate him instead? The bible says that at death we are no different from animals. Read Ecclesiastes 3:19. If man is immortal, then why has Jesus come to save us from death? Rather, the place was created for the ones that could not be redeemed - the devil & his angels. But on what grounds would you expect God to exempt those who choose to follow the devil from this destination and still be a Just God? Especially when all that could be done was done to make them turn from following the devil but they rebelled thinking sin was sweet? So is it right to stop somebody from dying just to torture the person, especially when the person did not beg to be created in the first place? Would the angels and all the saints not feel bad when they hear sinners cry out from hell to God in agony saying; Lord we did not beg you to make us why don't you kill us since we hate your gift of life? |

Scholar8200: God is a loving Father indeed. But right from Genesis Abraham(and other men{I can prove this}) realised that He was also the Judge of the Whole Earth Who, the average man expects, would always do right and Justice.
Hence, if we rebel against all warnings and reject His offer of salvation, follow the devil and end in the latter's destination, do we still blame God?
Or do we expect that He ought to deny us the consequences of our decisions even after we spurned all pleadings/warnings (that came in love) to do the right?

Hoseaovo: How can God who is love send his own creations to an eternal place of anguish? How can he sit comfortably on his throne and watch billions of souls spend their whole eternity in hell and claims he is a God of love? I think it is normal to think in that light.
But come with me: Lets set things straight.
Satan was created with much glory, more glorious than the angels. When he rebelled against God, he was condemned forever and will not ever be forgiven, It means there is no second chance for the him
Man also fell, but God gave him a second chance. How? Out of his own love for man, sent gave man a guide (his commandment) to lead us out of any thing that will make us fall again, he sent his servants to teach us the law, He came to man and showed us an example of how he wants us to live the life. He suffered and died by our own hands again so as to pay for our sins, he gave us his spirit and grace to ensure we have no more excuse to continue in sin
Tell me: How else do you want him to show his love toward man? He has shown to us that he truely loves us and wish we all come back to him again.
Now after all these yet we still rebel and even deny him. We still continue with our fornications, bribery, lust, cheating, idolatery, adultery, wickedness etc to prove to him that we dont even appreciate his love and sacrifice for us. We constantly tell him with our works that he died in vain and even take the our sins to his house and commits it even in his house forgetting that Besides his love, he is a just God.
He has done all and even said 'IT IS FINISHED'. My Dear, hell is for the disobedient. If you accepts Christ finished work on the cross, key into his Grace and Follow his word, you need not worry for your soul but for the lost that needs to also be saved.
In essence God has demonstrated his love and still demonstrates it by keeping us alive hoping that someday we will still repent. However, if we still choose to remain in sin, then we will not have hom to blame for the wages therefrom. Below are some of the issues I have with the answer you gave. I hope you will find time to addres them. MUSLIMS ARE NOT TERRORISTS When muslims start becoming riled up and fight back at the people and groups that associate Allah with terrorism as convincingly as they do when a cartoon is published is when I will start taking the op seriously. It's a simple yes or no question... The Nazi government of Germany under Hitler committed their war crimes in the name of the Third Reich, and not in the name of God. They went to war shouting Heil Hitler, and not Jesus Christ is Lord.
