bliss11: hello house, I own a honda civic 2006, I removed the battery to help someone start his car and after that mine refused to start and does not show the ba3 icon on dash board when the ignition is turned on but radio and lights come on, I called an electrician to check he said something abt brain box. pls can brain box be d issue? Wrong terminal connection is a probable cause, u must have fried ur ECU(brain box) in the process. Tell ur mech to check for blown fuses before he condemns the ECU. Most cars are wired to trip a fuse or something of sort when the battery is connected wrongly in order to save the ECU. |

Although Toyota SMG recomends oil change every 5000miles or 6months wch ever comes first. But since u use mineral oil I'll suggest u do an oil change every 3months |

Prettyjanet1: When is it recommended to change a car engine oil that wasn't taken out more than 2 times a month? It depends on the oil formular and manufacturer. As for mobil 1 ;After 6 months for synthetic oil and 3 months for mineral oil. Mobil 1 Extended performance can stay about 1year without change. |

Best advice---"buy something for urself and let her know it's New and tell her, it's one of your female friends that bought it and you love it soooooo much.. Let see how we go from there. Her reaction should speak more Lol...funny but I think it might just work |

After verification, you would be given the verified copy which you would show custom officers any time they stop you rather than the real custom paper, and once they see that form, they automatically let you go. Just 3k bro Well spoken |

Eddee: 09 Corolla 1.8L - average 14-15 litres for 100 km, city driving. AC on all the time (doubt it makes any notable difference) 09 corolla, 1.8L 2zr-fe engine. Average of 23mpg city cruise; AC at mid level, fan speed on 2. Funny enough I don't notice much savings on fuel driving without AC. |

danielconstant: "parasite" please explain in a lame man term Any component or device that discharges(kills) your battery after you shut down your engine could be termed a "parasite". So let's say there's a light bulb in ur trunk (booth) that remains on unnoticed even after u shut down ur engine with the booth closed. In that case the bulb could be called a parasite because it would drain ur battery overnight. |

Kelvin30286063: Hey guys, I've not posted here for a while... Well mainly because my car has been totally obedient. Now the disobedience have started again. Earlier this year, I was forced to change my steering rack after it damaged my pump. It's been licking for a while. After I changed the steering rack, I had peace of mind for a few months but just 5 days ago, I noticed my pump is making noise so I check the fluid and noticed that it's low. I immediately knew that the steering rack is licking again! Now I'm about to buy another steering rack and the kazeem I'm managing said I should not use Abro fluid but instead I should use engine oil. According to him, the transmission fluid is responsible for the quick damage of the steering rack!
Please gurus, advice me! How true is this statement and if that's true, is it advisable to use engine oil as power steering fluid?
I drive a 2006 accord Europe spec. use oem recommended fluid, that could be the reason for recurrent break down |

A nice one for city driving, suggestion are welcomed. Toyota yaris is not a bad choice if I may suggest. Comes in 1.6l dunno if there's a 1.4 variant. Though the interior is crappy but it's car that would take u from point A to point B without hassle. |

Segzila: Dear Boss,
I am now sure I have a serious problem with my Lexus RX 300....last week the lex started smoking and my mechanic said I need to replace the valve seal and gasket.... Gasket and rings etc were changed and today my Lexus loss power on the Lagos - Ibadan express way...in fact I had to tow it to a mechanic place in Ibadan.....now this Mecahnic said I either buy another engine or I replace the camshaft, conrod, mental etc ...now my question is...what is the likely cost for an engine or will the car work well if I decide to change the conrod and others....I travel on d lagos-ibadan express way weekly......which will possibly be d beat option considering cost and workability/durability of the car.
I await your response If I were u, I'll chnage the mech before I change the engine. |

zsch: Hi Gazzuz,
I have a 2005 Camry, automatic, V6. A few days ago someone had borrowed the battery. It was put back in the other day but I didn't supervise. Today I drove the car and noticed the following.
1) It felt a bit sluggish, it was not as responsive as it usually is with acceleration and even going around a corner. It felt..... Sleepy 2) Steering felt a tad stiffer than usual 3) when I slowed the car at a bend, the car died. I'd to restart it. (I had also observed that when I originally started the car, it didn't 'catch' and I'd to do it a second time)
PS before the battery was taken out, it had the check engine light on. Now it's off but the car feels worse off.
What could be the problem please, car never had these issues before? Experience similar situation whenever I take out my car battery to start my neighbors car, did some research online and discovered that engine powertrain module (aka brain box) stores certain information such as idle trim (tells the vehicle the right amout of fuel air mixture required for idle), fueling adjustments, amongst other drive pattern information which ensure a smooth run. In an event the battery is disconnected, all these Information are lost, and one might experience a rough idle on installing the battery. When this happens one has to perform "idle learning" to teach the car how to idle properly. The step is listed below - with the gear in 'p' and hand brake engaged, and all accessories off (radio, fan,ac,lights etc) turn the key to the on position twice but don't crank the engine. Crank the engine the 3rd time -with the engine is running, step on the brake pedal and shift the gear to 'D'.(hand brake must be engaged). -allow it idle for 2 mins and that's all Rough idle disappeared. Or u drive the car around for some time and allow it learn naturally, any way works. |
