He meant 4k rpm seems too high for a speed of just 120km/hr

double3 may be right about the caliper. Or the brake pads are in close contact with the brake disc even when brake is not applied

Brake pad in contact with brake disc when brake isn't applied= stuck brake caliper

Did u recently drive in muddy water??;u might have a stuck brake caliper.To confirm jack the front side of ur car and try spinning the defective wheel with ur hands.

If uve done business with him before u would always wanto come back. Very straight forward gentleman. One of the most sincere auto Tech guys I've known.

Check Remote key battery,if that ain't the problem then ur car remote unlock module would need to be changed.

Hi everyone , my matrix sometimes last 2weeks entered the gutter and after bringing it out , notice the inner rim bend on the wheel cover . This week I noticed my steering started to shake and I was advised to go for wheel balancing and alignment . I changed two tyres . The rims where bent back to normal for me and they did the balancing and alignment . The car steering kept shaking , took it for another alignment somewhere else but the steering is still vibrating . Please can anyone help me with a solution , car drives well steering just shakes only when on speed . Thanks

U can't "bend a rim to normal", the slightest of indentation would casue vibrations at high speed. Get a new rim

My Camry drop light ac is now my greatest headache. In 3 weeks, I have changed the compressor and the condenser twice with some pipes...
The usual pattern is ,after the AC is installed, it starts blinking without working, I return it to the AC men( 2 different ), they fix the blinking light and then it " hooks" according to them . That means it's burnt.
Of course I don't havie any money to fix it again, but what is the problem in case I boxed up to repair it later.

I think ur problem is getting a competent ac technician. Where do you reside??

It's got a lovely interior,don't know much about the power train, but when it comes to fuel economy the avalon shouldn't be on ur top list.

I have doubts gazzuzz would leave he's abode for such a request; he would help with remote diagnosis but u might have to tow vehicle down to lagos. But be rest assured he would fix it.

Let me break explain from the onset.

I had a failed gear pump(pump stop working all of a sudden in d morning). Although, I initially wanted to replace the gear. Went to Ladipo, guys gave me a wrong gear(05 Corolla gear) requiring t4 oil which I bought (8 litres).
I eventually return the gear and bought a gear pump. Installed and for lack of sufficient fund used the t4 oil on the old gear.


Current issue: early morning... Gear shift very hard(even reverse). But after some 30- 40mins drive ... It shift very smoothly.
Initially thought it was the engine seat but they are all firm. Mechanic says its because the pump is new.
This is the third day and it still doing hard shifting if I drive early in the morning or I park for a long time.

Scanned error code is p2770

For starters I'll advice u change the gear oil to the recommended WS, who knows ur problem might be the T4 fluid. Even if it turns out the oil isn't the cause of the hard shifting, it might definitely ruine ur transmission in a long run.

I used a t4 transmission fluid
just did another check... It looks like it's way above the hot marker.

When the engine is cold it's alwys above the hot Mark, let the vehicle run for 5-10 mins. Then u can check the fluid level.
"cold level" indicates the transmission oil level when the engine runs for 5-10 mins. U don't need to worry about the "hot mark" if uve verified the "cold Mark" is properly guaged.
And i think the required transmission fliud is WS and not "T whatever". I'm not certain though cos I'm not an auto expert; but if it's the wrong fluid uve got there, drain ASAP and use the right stuff.

If I may add,ur frnd should avoid driving at high speed with such level of corrosion.

Go and find the recommended 5w 30 oil. Don’t USE 20w 50 on that engine.

What if the previous owner used 20w50??

Just to be on the safe side,I think u have to find out what grade the previous owner used and continue with that.

Don't use your car in this condition if you don't want to add more to the issue it already has o cos a fan that is ran direct has more risk of failure anytime cos constantly running will reduce it life span,cause engine bore wash and also cause issue for the alternator as well .
Coolant going down if neglected too can cause headgasket leak later on .

We shouldn't always blow things out of proportions. If ur theory of running fan directly affects the life span of the radiator fan motor,then one can also say using AC would affect the lifespan of the fan motor as well cos the fan kicks on whenever AC is in use....what do u think

There's every probability ur fan control module must have been bypassed and motor connected directly to ur battery. If it's OK well, the answer is no, if it can cause harm, answer too is a no but ur engine might take a longer time to reach optimal operating temperature(ie running at the lower temperature for longer than necessary).
Revert to manufacturers design if you can for better performance.
As for ur coolant, there's definitely a leak sumwhere hence the need for frequent top up.
Just keep refilling till ur ready to have it examined.

Its a cheap replacement just replace rather than cleaning.
Cost about 1k5 to 3k.

Fill ur radiator and reservoir(to full mark) with coolant, with the radiator cap open start ur engine and allow it run for few mins till it get to operating temperature( approximately 10-15 mins). At this point u would notice air bubbling out of ur radaiator and the level of coolant drop in ur radiator( that's a good sign meaning entrapped air pockets just escaped). Shut off ur engine and top the coolant in ur radiator. Squeeze the upper hose to further release trapped air. Replace ur radiator cap. And zoom zoom.

Transmission probably had some issues before it was shipped in.

Any update on this project??
