PoliticsRe: Reuben Abati V. Dele Momodu by DrummaBoy(m): 8:27pm On Feb 07, 2012
Beyond that, INEC recorded over 26,000 votes for me nationwide despite not having unrestricted access to public funds like Dr Abati’s boss. I would want Reuben to tell the world if indeed he and his two wives voted for President Jonathan. I doubt it, unless he was a fake critic. I can’t think of Obama’s spokesman bringing the wife of a journalist into an argument. Is this what power does to otherwise sensible men? How would posterity remember Reuben? I guess: A man who voluntarily set fire to everything he ever wrote. Shame!

When I left NYSC in 2003 and went to Lagos to search for a job in 2004, I became hooked on Sunday Guardian. Out of my meager applicant allowi I received from my late Mum, I ensured I bought the weekend paper to read Rueben Abati's coloumn.
Why he took up this job with Jonathan, I don't know. Is it for the money or fame? But like Momodu said posterity will remember him as a man who set fire to all that he wrote.

Shame, indeed!

PoliticsRe: Sng Concludes Plans For Protest Against Corruption by DrummaBoy(m): 10:58am On Feb 07, 2012
Thank you Oyb for that timely reminder.
And for you werepeleri
werepeLeri:
Your thinking is exact reason why corruption can not be eradicated. Who is government? You said "if the government does not offer inflated contracts" - who is government in this case? I guess you mean the individuals in the government agencies - or who is government? You said public Servants - so, are these not individuals? You are simply trying to justify why individuals have to be corrupt hence focusing on an in existing "government".

If individuals are corruption free - then you wont focus on government - government comes and goes - but the individual where ever he or she is, if corrupt, will forever remain corrupt.

If I go into government with a corruption free mind - and everyone else does - then, which government will you blame? It is an individual thing, and it should be killed from the individual perspective.
Do me a favor and answer this question, since you do so well defending this clueless govt:

1. why has Jonathan not declared his asset to this moment
2. why did this govt hav to wait till the occupy nigeria protests at Ojota to begin investigating petroleum marketers?
3. why has none of you offered us a sound reason for the alleged money laundering activities of the first lady, petroleum minister and the rest.
4. why did madueke defend the marketers before even the probes began

5. And how much are you paid to tell us gibberish on NL?

"The Nigerian Entourage list contains 35 names in total, however three of those whose names are listed did not join the delegation and the total number of delegates in Addis Ababa is not more than 32." - Reuben Abati

In other words, we stole a goat, not a cow as widely reported.
My guy you hit the nail on the head. kwanu.

Let's agree that the story was sensational; but, 32 delegates; haba, Jonathan, for what. "It is 32 not 57 delegates". Ladies and Gentlemen, pls where is such done in a sane clime.

Interesting so far.

I support a meeting with the parents. What has been done; is done. That child is their child now whether they like it or not. Blood is thicker than water. And I think Chioma is just been unnecessarily apprehensive, she may be surprised to see the support she will get from her parent.

Let see how it goes; you have my prayers.

By the way, why is it that it is mostly ladies commenting on this thread. Men, where is the milk of human kindness now?!
PoliticsRe: Who Is Funding Violence In Nigeria? by DrummaBoy(m): 4:09pm On Jan 29, 2012
PapaBrowne:
MEND provided money for itself as it controlled oil wells and sold them illegally. They also received duties from ships passing through their territories. They did this in collaboration with the Navy dudes. I knew some junior navy officers that were making up to 1 million Naira weekly working side by side MEND.

OPC and MASSOB don't have money!

Boko Haram- Three possibilities.
*If Boko Haram is Local Politics then it is sponsored by Northern Politicians especially old military Generals.
*If Boko haram is Religious then it is sponsored by the same folks sponsoring Al Qeada- Arab Sheiks.
*If Boko Haram is International politics, then it is sponsored by Iran, same way they sponsor Hezbolla. Remember the Iranian truck load of weapons         intercepted at the ports?? Their goal- Cause a war in the Nigeria to Distract America's military focus!! Nigeria supplies 25% of all American Oil imports.
How can you say MEND provided for itself? What were all the allegations of SS govs using these MEND boyz for their campaign and dumping them after election. The likes of Ibori and Odili. Your premise is laughable.

The next thing: those of you on GEJ payroll, I mean Beaf, Jmaine and you Papabrowne, why don't you call Buhari by his name why use "old military Generals" to mask your cowardice. What you guys cannot live with, despite all you receive from the IT department of ASO Rock is that you cannot defend your stands properly. If you do not know, Buhari has foot soldiers all over the nation(and that is no reference to BH, as many small minds will interpret) who will defend his integrity with the last drop of their blood without collecting a kobo from him. It is these set of people you will never deceive with your subtle and manipulative submissions.

TELL YOUR BOSS HIS TIME IS UP. HE HAD BETTER GO AND FIND SOMETHING BETTER TO DO. NIGERIANS ARE TIRED OF INCOMPETENCE AND WE WANT A CHANGE OF GUARD!!!

Nj girl:
nlanders meeting? Poster have u really read the posts on this section and seen all d venom and tribalism in them. Now u want this same people to meet offline? Personally i would not advice that especially not for politics section members who spew a lot of hate online.
I used to think there would be a time when ethnicity would exit 9ja but with all the ethnic hating i ve seen on nl politics section, i ve woken up from my daydream, but i still wont relent in my peace keeping efforts cos i personally belive that our geographical proximity means our forefathers were related. We nigerians are all brothers and sisters fucccck ethnicity.
I still support the meeting, offline of course. I believe it will be a catalyst to reducing the hate. The reason people feel free to talk trash here is bc of the anonymity this forum provides. If people have to write with their real names or some other kind of ID, they will be sure someone who knows  them will read what they wrote and they will be curtailed. I mean that is the reason we don't have trash written all over facebook (that much). This meeting will give face to the anonymous names and everyone will wake up. And then we can begin to find a platform to agree on; since it is the progress of Nigeria that is a common denominator in all of us.
However, I am sure those who are not interested in peace and will still want to continue their mischief will not come. And I am certain they will not be missed.
PoliticsRe: Support The Call For Jonathan's Resignation by DrummaBoy(m): 1:08pm On Jan 28, 2012
KnowAll:
Mr Jonathan would be a good umpire come 2015, since he would not be running (I am assuming he would not be running not with all this Boko Haram Wahala), let him give us a free and fair election for his absence in the election and he would have written his name in a gold plague, I would not support any move to dethrone the President at this moment.

The President can be a useful tool to help our fledging democracy come 2015.
Why did Jonathan not be the Umpire in 2011 as we all called upon him to do. They jettisoned the well designed zoning system and have compromised the political stability of the nation. He could have reformed the electoral act and stood outside as a good umpire, like you said, last year rather than run for office. But alas he behaved like a normal Nigerian politician.
Let him pray really hard that he would still be in office to be umpire over.
Umpire ko, ex-president most certainly.

I think we get the gist of the OP and the editor's work that has derailed the thread is unnecessary. You will always make mistakes typing in a hurry.

I am very guilty of what the OP was doing in public transport; my hope is that boyz in Ibadan don't get wizened up overnight and learn bad things from their Lagos counterpart.
I rejoice with you that the phone was recovered.

I second this Idea. It's come to my mind before.
Hello Seun, Jarus, let's see how this flies. Have you tried it before?
One thing is sure NL is a social forum where young minds are rubbing together, and whether we like it or not, our opinions here are beginning to help shape national policies.
Maybe when we see each other face to face, the insults will reduce on threads.
And also including the threats to lives.

PoliticsRe: Shocking Stuff! Street Level Support For Boko Haram! by DrummaBoy(m): 6:20pm On Jan 25, 2012
Arosa:
They are just ignorant kids. undecided
They are just not kids.
I have long suspected that BH had the sympathy and support of the ordinary people on the street in the north and that is where the challenge of quenching the fire lies. The govt of GEJ for which Beaf works for would do well not to continue to fan the flames of hate - for which this post was intended, and get down to its knees of working to end the insecurity that pervade the land.

Another thing, Beaf and his twenty chaps on Jonathan's payroll , that spread this Govt propaganda facebook, NL and other social networkds, had tried to make us believe that Buhari and folks in the CPC were the ones fanning the embers of BH. From reports that have emerged so far, not for once was CPC politicians mentioned. If they are not ANPP they will be PDP.

The recent one that showed that the govt of Kano and Bauchi had placed BH members on their monthly payroll of 10 million naira tells us volume. The govt of Jonathan would need to develop some balls and tackle this issue from its roots, and not keep passing the buck of blame. Apparently now there is no one to blame, Mr Jonathan.

Kolababa:
One thing about human being is that if you have a prejudice mind against somebody, you will never see anything sensible in what he does. But if you put that hatred behind you, then you appreciate him. That is why Nigerians only appreciate a person when he is dead. Look at Gani, because of his passion for Nigeria, pple used to call him noise maker activist lawyer but now he is no more everybody including those in power that never like him are now pouring praises on his dead soul.
Where am I going?
I once hated Buhari since he staged a coup of 1983 until 2005 when I went to serve in Katsina. During my service year, I had about five one to one interaction with Buhari. Apart from the fact that this man is very accesible, he has a great passion for Nigerians. He even regretted his coup of 1983 but he said was necessary because of indiscipline and corruption of politicians then.

For Bakare, I got to know him better when Buhari picked him as his running mate. Apart from being a Pastor, activism flows in him. He is even more passionate about average Nigerians than Any pastor in Nigeria. I know the secrets of many pastors in Bishops in Nigeria. Even I have some evidence here with me on how some big pastors and imams collect from the security votes of some governors and other politicians in Nigeria. That is why they cannot advise or critisice them when they are stealing money or imposing hardship on the people. They always hide under "let us pray for them".
But this Bakare man has zero tolerance for corruption. He had once challenged one renown Pastor in Nigeria with about 3 jets then on why he collected 150 million naira from Turai Yar Adua during the Yar Adua sickness. This was the same pastor directing his followers to vote for Jonathan in 2011 or quit his church. This was the same Pastor romancing the Yar Adua's kitchen cabal against this same Jonathan o.
Bakare's stance against corruption is the main reason some of those men of God are critising him not on spiritual ground.
This is what i can say about Bakare. I am not his fan, i am not a member of SNG neither do i go to his church but i am an ordinary Nigerian that want a corruption free Nigeria and i want a better living and security for everybody
That was a blessing. I really do hope many people will see Bakare and even Buhari like you described them.
