Thegamingorca:It is not strange... In two states of the South-South, especially Bayelsa and Delta states, names such as "Manager" (the current longest-serving Senator in the entire South-South region, is a certain Senator James MANAGER from Delta state), "Confidence", "Minister", "Reputation", "Government" (that very popular ex-militant from Delta state, Tompolo, has "Government" as his first name), etc are very common; hence, one of the NCC nominees, named Professor Millionaire, is not strange... It's the same pattern of old, almost-forgotten Christian names borne by people from certain parts of Nigeria, such as Syracuse, Hyginus, Paulinus, Modestus, Callistus, Celestina, etc... |
I support the President, I generally support our leaders (I won't insult and criticize them just for the fun of it or to be seen at having a viewpoint). However, Buhari's major weakness is his very, very slow approach to decision-making and governance! Let us even agree that the reason he did not send the list of Ministers earlier was because he did not want to forward it to a Saraki Senate Presidency (for obvious reasons- their well-known sour relationship and the fact that a new Senate was going to be inaugurated in the first week of June 2019), why did he not forward it on the second day of the inauguration of the Senate last month, June? Why leave it till the so-called "this week", almost at the middle of July for a Senate that will go on a 2-month long recess on July 26 ![]() Did you know that so many Executive Secretaries and DGs of certain parastatals appointed by President Jonathan (who Buhari inherited from Jonathan in May 2015) are still running those agencies till today, over 4 years later, without being replaced ![]() Did you know that the Board of Directors of Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) was only inaugurated about two weeks ago SEC, the capital market regulator, had no Board for over 3 years! Why does Buhari hate appointments/appointing people promptly? Is there a rule that says Buhari should always delay appointments? Now, our lazy Governors, who are mostly doing so little in their individual states, across both APC and PDP, have taken a cue from Buhari. Among our Governors only El-Rufai of Kaduna and Okowa of Delta have appointed Commissioners/formed their cabinets yet! Today is July 10... Buhari has so many positives, and I wanted him to defeat Jonathan in 2015 (and also win in 2019) but his penchant for making decisions too late and also for allowing members of his APC party remain largely disunited, without focus, are major flaws... God help Nigeria! |
daroz:It’s either some of you are damn too stupid to read and think, or you are just too blind with hate and prejudice. The current Chief of Defence Staff, the highest ranking military officer in Nigeria today is General Olonisakin, a Yoruba, well-known practicing Christian from Ekiti state, who this same Buhari you insulted appointed and promoted to full General rank! By the way, General Olonisakin was appointed during the period Fayose (the sitting Ekiti Governor at the time) always insulted Buhari almost every day... When intelligent people make comments, they try to be objective; they do not make daft posts one sees all over the place, which are based on tribal and religious bigotry... |
What concerns this perpetual loser from Cameroun, Abubakar Atiku, about Nigeria’s win? Janus-faced, unreliable politician, looter-man, please face your fake server issue at the tribunal, where you will shortly lose again! Olodo! Ndi ara... |
TANTUMERGO007:But when the same judiciary gave PDP two full gifts of ALL elective positions in two states- Zamfara and Rivers- without any effort, it was not compromised ![]() Hypocrites! When a decision favours PDP, they shout through their stinking mouths that judiciary is the best thing after Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed BUT when it favours APC, they moan that the same judiciary is compromised! Efulefus, Ndi Ara, lol... |
backnbeta:Idris Samaila Nyam is also a Christian- that I know. There may be others on that list too. In the North, bearing "Muslim names" Yakubu (eg General TY Danjuma and former Speaker Dogara are both Yakubu; and are Christians), Ismaila, Musa, Yunusa, Ilyasu, Usman, etc does not mean that one is a Muslim; Christians bear such names due to long-term acculturation... The advantage of living (or going to school) in the North, however short the period is, for a Southerner (or other non-Hausa or Fulani speaking Nigerian), is that he is fully abreast of their ethno-religious set-up. The same erroneous belief makes Southerners believe that everyone with origins in the North is an Hausa or Fulani! The Northern people speak over 530 languages...In one Northern state, one could have as much as 55... It's good to travel through Nigeria and mix with other compatriots...It's not only educative, it's enlightening, and reduces unbridled prejudice! |
I was a secondary school student at the time Buhari was military Head of State, with General Tunde Idiagbon of Ilorin as his deputy. The civilian Buhari, from 2015, is a different animal- slower than a snail! It is incredible, but it is true, that some DGs, Executive Secretaries and other heads of agencies Buhari inherited from Jonathan’s administration in 2015 are still holding such positions! In July 2019! Amazing... Buhari is the slowest ever President Nigeria has had, regarding taking official actions- in terms of appointments, sacking, redeployments, etc. It’s so sad, considering that some of us truly believed that he could take actions much faster... The National Assembly resumes tomorrow, July 2, but the media are only reporting rumours, projections, and guesswork regarding his cabinet- Ministers/Federal Executive Council. Truly sad... |
The failed candidate (Abubakar Atiku) from Republic of Cameroun has gone to the venue of his fake server strategy session (Dubai) again! He will fail again... I see Baraje, Bukola Saraki’s almost 70-year old political boy, sitting beside Atiku. Timi Frank, the young, nonentity loudmouth is also there with his Atiku-branded cap. Na wa o...Group of failed and pained looter-politicians...LOL. |
braveboy64:You obviously didn’t read the story and yet, you responded! Lazy youth! It was clearly stated that the judgement was: the bribe received AND property attached should be forfeited to the FG. |
False headline. Adamu is Titi Abubakar’s son. Therefore, the Baba who was buried in Onitsha was Jennifer’s father; he is NOT Adamu’s grandfather... |
BeijinDossier:Ignorance is not bliss. How could he be Jennifer’s son? How old is Jennifer? For your information, Adamu is one of Titi Atiku’s sons; not Jennifer’s... |
Tolexander:Exactly my thought as I saw the portfolio. Most politicians are daft, corrupt and wasteful. How could Sokoto state, located in the arid desert of the North West appoint a Commissioner for Petroleum Resources? And that poor, unviable state appointed 27 Commissioners? 27! Kai! |
I like the part of Dr. Olaokun Soyinka's post where he alluded to the fact that youthful people think it is far; and that the youth of today will soon become elders of tomorrow. If the young man truly disrespected the respected Prof, he should pray that in his old age, at over 80 years old like Soyinka, young people would not disrespect him too. If otherwise, he acted within his rights. Another angle to the issue is the clear contribution that the stoppage of History as a subject in our schools has caused to diminish the youth of today! Did you know that this same Soyinka helped Biafra to hijack a radio station during the Civil War and was jailed by the Nigerian Military Federal Government? Did you know that Soyinka has always been a human rights advocate all his life? He fights every Government's indiscretions- without any preference. His fights during the Abacha years is worthy of being written as a book! He had endless rallies for Jonathan to become President when the cabal under Yar'Adua did not. When Jonathan lost his head, he did not hesitate to criticize him. He also supported Buhari, but when Buhari started making mistakes, he has written countless statements and granted many interviews attacking Buhari. To me, Soyinka has been consistent! He is not one of the rotten ruling class of his generation. Prof Wole Soyinka deservedly earned his stripes through global literature and human rights activism! I RESPECT THE GRAND OLD MAN OF LITERATURE; WOLE SOYINKA, THE GOLDEN PRIDE OF AFRICA AND THE BLACK RACE! |
Johnnyessence:He hasn't been released? Are you daft, a slowpoke, demented? Or don't you have a brain at all? Please choose one. The report clearly stated that he (Shollyment) was arrested by DSS in the morning and released in the evening of the same day (yesterday), yet, nincompoops like you, and the five idiots who "liked" your daft post, believed that he had not been released... What a generation of lazy twerps (who cannot read a very short report) our country is breeding! |
They only did their job! No need for any drama or criticism of the Speaker. They should work in an air—conditioned office if they can’t do this... |
He has passed his ‘political exams’. Google is your friend- check up the conduct of politicians regarding taking back their words, blaming the media for being misquoted, etc in the US, Europe, Asia, etc. It’s the same! I listened to some voters in a recent election in an African country; the lady who was interviewed said that: “The President’s party is popular because they have been ruling us for long, but they never keep their promises, like the politicians that they are!” Lol. A successful politician anywhere in the world who cannot lie is a non-starter. How they do it is interesting... |
The girls did so well. No one gave us a chance- the 4th best female team in the world (France) struggled to defeat the 38th best team (Nigeria) 1-0; and even at that the so-called 4th best team got a huge dose of help from the partisan French (host) crowd, VAR, biased referee decisions (too many yellow card calls by French players not given). This was in addition to a very unprofessional, biased TV commentary... This game was the Falcons' most professional so far. Some analysts and pundits predicted 5-0, 6-1, 7-0 score line against us before the game... Let's hope that we qualify as one of the 4 3rd place teams that will qualify for the 2nd round... Best wishes, girls! |
Lawan has started well. The 10-man adhoc committee had both APC and PDP members in equal number of 5 each... Bassey Akpan (core Governor Udom's loyalist in Akwa-Ibom PDP), Chukwuka Utazi (core Governor Ugwuanyi's and Sen. Ekweremadu's loyalist from Enugu PDP), Betty Apiafi (hard-core female loyalist of Governor Wike from Rivers state PDP), Gabriel Suswam (needs no introduction- hard-core PDP man, immediate past Governor of Benue state), Stella Oduah (needs no introduction- a Jonathanian, former Minister and core Anambra PDP woman)... Good to know... Sokoto), Bassey Akpan (PDP, A/Ibom), Gabriel Suswam (PDP, Benue), Solomon Adeola (APC, Lagos), among others. |
Three things here: 1. I would be so disappointed should the issue of religious bias be true. Senator (Governor) Atiku Bagudu is a gentleman and a man who has a very broad world view and does not discriminate. He, and his wife, the medical doctor, are very liberal; they befriend Nigerians of different tribes and religions. I know this... 2. She clearly stated that most of the victims of Justice Ambursa were Muslims. Thus suggests that Justice Ambursa is only using religion to fester his own nest for selfish reasons! 3. Kebbi state, especially the Zuru axis, is a very interesting part of the North West. In that state, regarding the two famous brothers who are Generals, Ishaya Bamaiyi and Musa Bamaiya one is a Muslim and the other is a Christian. Discrimination on the basis of religion, tribe, or political party/affiliations does no country any good. It's toxic! I pray that Justice Karatu will get justice (if her assertions are true)... |
pacespot:Probably...I noticed that he had lost so much weight in a movie I watched recently... |
What a loss! RIP, Sir. He ('Dagunro") was very, very good at his trade/roles, especially the "babalawo/dibia" roles. He had a special (very unique) way of delivering his acting lines and speaking, just like Alapinni, Araosan (Pefuele), Lalude did, as babalawos... |
aolawale025:That was the House of Reps, not Senate. It was clearly written on the screen and we saw it live on TV too. Are you so easily distracted? |
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Delta Central, is the new Deputy Senate President of the 9th Senate: LLB University of Benin; LLM Tulane University Law School, Tulane University, USA (the 12th oldest Law School in the US). My "political source" was right again! Yet again!!! |
chikeze:It must have pained you to your marrow! You, and other hateful souls like you, supported Ali Ndume, who you insulted 4 years ago as a Borno terrorist and Boko Haram sponsor! Hypocrites! Live with it; Senator Ahmed Lawan, PhD. Cranfield, is the President of Nigeria's Senate!!! |
Senator Ahmed Lawan: BSc Geography, University of Maiduguri; MSc Remote Sensing, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria; and PhD Remote Sensing/GIS, Cranfield University, UK (one of the best universities in the UK) is the President of the 9th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria! The ruling party got it right this time! My "political source" was right after all! Yet again!!! |
Game of thrones! My usually reliable sources (check my previous comments before dicey political games) told me that BOTH Ali Ndume (who Bukola Saraki crudely disgraced via almost one year suspension and withheld all his entitlements and influenced his removal as Senate Leader because he supported Magu of EFCC) and Umar Bago (a core Buhari boy from their CPC party era) were planted deliberately by APC and its smart/strategic planners with a view to giving PDP false hope! This morning, Ahmed Lawan, PhD from the UK, and Femi Gbajabiamila, a US-trained lawyer and articulate parliamentarian, will be elected Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives! APC guys have learnt from the Bukola Saraki error of 2015! |
rusher14:SS (South-South) is not excluded. Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of Delta State has been adopted as Deputy Senate President by APC... |
Baroba:You are a fool! A daft clown. Is it Buhari who controls access into the chambers of the National Assembly? Is Bukola Saraki, Chairman of the National Assembly, who hates Buhari wih passion, not a PDP member? What has Buhari got to do with barring journalists from covering the inauguration of a National Assembly, which happens inside the Chambers ![]() Some of you should, at least, use your brains (if you have any), when you seek to criticize! |
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, and Bala Muhammed of Bauchi State, will face the same challenge- they have so many political IOUs to fulfill. All Governors who won based on a wide coalition of diverse support bases will have the same challenge. It is expected. Politics is not business; the nuances and intricacies are very different! They should be courageous to sieve through the many lists of potential appointees, form their cabinets promptly, and appease others with Boards' appointments and Federal slots... |
DSTV is showing the game live. Tune to channel 723, Canal Sport 1! Meanwhile, the commentatory is in French. |
Very true! It took only 19 minutes to drive from V/I to Surulere a few hours ago. When the evil tanker drivers held sway, it took about 2 hours during the same period. I hope that this Buhari presidential magic will be maintained. The relief today was very huge! I almost could not believe it! |
A fraudster at only 29 years..."Not Too Young to Steal/Loot"! Crooks of all ages- the young, the not-so-young, and the old. God save Nigeria. |
