Interesting times as we stand on the threshold of finally ending this lean period and then players begin to fall like flies. Really feel for Theo and hope Cesc makes the final on sunday. We still haven enough quality to do it.

Here rests the stinkin carcass of a wannabe big club that thought money was the all and be all for greatness, yes they did touch greatness but alas were not qualified to hold on as their foundations weren't rock solid but found to be on the most slimy of sand. This club and its arrogant money peddlin owner would do well to heed the lessons of their subsequent crash from greatness and seek wisdom from those who have trod the true well worn paths to enduring greatness in order to learn from them.

The path to true greatness is not money as important and utilitarian as it might be, it is seeking out the right principles and philosophy to operate by, it is holding on to those principles when others of less stout composition and inferior mien would have longed returned to pitiable oasis of indulgent comfort and boring pastimes of ordinary existence. It is learning to pursue a dream and a goal, learning to fail a thousand times and still muster enough strength and confidence in oneself to try again without taking shortcuts that give a fleeting glimpse of attainment as through a telescope but subsequently turns out to be as far as the tiniest of stars.

Seek true greatness o fallen chelsea, learn from the adventurous, brave and bold Arsenal and maybe then your dry bones can be raised once more with plenty of meat.

But then Dr. Kit, is that football brutucu not what we complain about at Arsenal? and is that really how footie should be played? That exactly is the reason why England cannot do anything reasonable in the international arena where such kicking is rightly penalized.
The only club they don't kick the hell out of is Manure cos they respect their Lord Fergie too much to do that, but for the smart-ass Frenchie all is fair. If Messi plays for Arsenal, he might end up like Eduardo as you rightly point out but if he plays for Manure be sure that he might even end up with better stats than he is now afterall he is running head to head with CR9 on goals and trouncing him in assists while playing in the same league.

Come, I am beginning to suspect this replay thing na gimmick to make more money this year. Haba!!!!
Me sef don dey hear that conspiracy theory and I have almost started to believe it, thats an extra 6m already this season as the emirates makes about 3m per matchday. Abeg what are people's impression of Miquel? a bit suspect in terms of pace but not as slow as Senderos and will definitely improve physically but good composure, aerial ability and impressive composure to play out from the back. I liked what I saw at a level at least higher than u18 or reserve level, He'll likely join the loan brigade next season.

I don't have much complaints about the game, some of our players actually need more game time anyway and its good for Rosicky to break his duck, we played like we were practicing and we almost coasted through all the same. We will put it to bed at the emirates for sure.

@DUDUSPACEWhat was the purpose of this type of message? Wasn't it meant as an insult to provoke a reaction from me? Now that you provoked a reaction your accusing me of having thin skin. Since mukina2 and v3 are both gooners (who are obviously biased against us spurs fans and part of the problem) they will never lift a finger to do anything about this type of senseless post.

If this had been posted in another thread apart from this one then you would've faced a ban and your post deleted. But then since mukina2 and v3 are part of the problem they don't seem bothered to do anything about it. Continue with your senseless posts ok. I can't stop you i'll just make i'll make you guys are happy by getting the spurs thread thrown in the recyle bin.  smiley

Secondly, you and I know very well that the message you sent to me would receive a ban if posted on the forum which is why you sent it through that means in the first instance or if yu're proud of it why not post it on here?

I have no problems with you having known you from the religious section even before I became active in the sports section and if you find my writing as being insulting, I do apologise for it, believe me when I say it was meant in jest and that I've had worse post than that written about me, I also believe that anyone who read that post would take it for what it is some harmless fun because the forum in the first instance is not a physical place where Muki can come to answer nature's call. I would never have thought that you would make a Keys/Gray moment out of some harmless banter and you do need to develop a thicker skin.

RVP Quotes, what a committed player. To be honest, if he wanted to leave I'm sure there is a club out there willing to pay up to 30m for this guy.

[Quote]
A trip to Leyton Orient in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday is the immediate priority and Van Persie is excited about what the club could achieve this season.

Despite having not won anything since 2005, the striker is proud to have been part of the young team's progression over the past few years and maintains that he could never contemplate a move elsewhere.

"I don't have the inclination to go anywhere," he explained. "This is the best team for me to be in.

"The bottom line is that I want to win trophies with Arsenal, not with anybody else.

"I know you can win trophies in many countries and in many ways, but I want to do that in our way and in an Arsenal shirt.

"I'm sure I could win things at another team in another country, but would it feel like our trophy, my trophy? I'm not sure it would.

"Anything we win here will come from the heart and that's what I want. It's my dream and I see no point in speaking about other teams when I have these dreams.

"I think other people know that about me; I'm just hungry to win with Arsenal and that's it."

Nateevs is very right about Sturridge's situation, You can't have 2 stirkers in their 30s and then refuse to play a very promising 21 year old who you might end up paying 6 - 8 m for, (at least I know Arsene wouldn't do it) then turn around and go buy a 26 year old for 50m. It is simply a lack of foresight.

Carlos Vela's idiocy might just  turn out to be Chelsea's gain as he was Owen Coyle's first choice to bring on loan but stupidly chose to follow money under the influence of his agent, I'm happy for Sturridge cos a few more games as he is having now and he would have staked a very big claim to be considered for first team action under a manager who knows what he is doing.

Sagamite:
Now let me go on the other more plausible summarisation of what appears to be going on:

* The boy is constantly in fights in school.
* The boy is being into drinks and drugs, just like a lot of youths in UK that Nigerian parents dread their kids to be like.
* The boy socialises all night till 4am, just like a lot of youths in UK that Nigerian parents dread their kids to be like.
* The boy claimed a practice that does not exist in his culture, more so when he has educated parents.
* The boy is going to do "Business and Media", typical subject choice for academically underperforming black kids that UK universities frown on.
* The boy was sent to a fine school in Nigeria immediately he arrived.

He has all the wrong trademarks.

All the evidence point to the fact that the most plausible happening is that it is the same dejavu of another Nigerian child raised in the West turned wide and the Nigerian parents are trying to reclip the wing before he becomes another statistic of failure/crime/knife victim like alot on Nigerian UK-based kids of recent. But, in this case, it is too late, this child is worse than most and even more cunning than they envisaged.
All this has arisen from your imagination, yu have made up all sorts of conclusions about a case you have little facts about and concluded about imaginary scenarios based on your own prejudices.
Morals are not being judged here but adherence to the laws of a country in which an individual 'willingly' chose to be resident.

If you believe you can't properly raise a child in the west then don't take them there. There are a thousand and one other Nigerians who have no problems raising up their children there and are still raising up their childrent over there without any problems.

Outstrip:
No police officer (unless he is interested in breaking the law) can ask a man to leave the house he lives in if it appears the woman is making up stuff. I know someone who even found out that her husband was shopping for ways to kill someone and that was not enough to ask the man to leave. There is a reason these laws are made and they were made out of a need to have them. Society realized that certain groups of people need to be protected.
Abi o, the prevailing Nigerian attitude to most of these laws are funny as if they just came about because someone was high on weed while drafting the laws. grin grin

Sagamite:
It is flimsy if they could not do a basic check/analysis that there is nothing like forced marriage in his tribe and there has never been any history of such.

Even a 12 year old can be jailed in he kills someone and face similar extradition requirements.

Without any evidence and no history of such culture amongst the people (forced marriage IS a cultural/religious thing) and the court only took the word of a minor WITHOUT even giving the parents notice or a chance to come to court to defend allegations, it is not being applied reasonable or rationally.
Yeah, and if a 12 year old alleges such offences against him as this, he will also be listened to.
They don't have to check for possibility of forced marriages in his tribe, they can't possibly know Jack about every society or culture in the world and they don't really need to, all they've asked for is that the child come back and state his case, no one has been convicted yet for a forced marriage.

Sagamite:
Ok.
So you mean if police are called to a house of quarelling couples having hot verbal words, and she says she does not feel safe and has fear for her kids as well, the police will not request the man to leave? I would be very surprised. The demeanor intepretation is very arbitrary, even the assessment of "cooled down" is down to intepretation. So maybe it is open to irrationality.
Yeah, there is a range of interpretation and policemen aren't always rational in their interpretation of the law but then you also have the right to complain about that also so you still have the opportunity to seek redress.

Sagamite:
Any child, even far below 17 has a right to let the courts hear them, I am not doubting that.
But no courts should have a right to deny parental rights over a ward they are responsible for without SUFFICIENT evidence/possibility of danger to the child.
Where there is a clear and present/imminent danger, parental rights can be suspended even if temporarily but that is not done without putting up enough reasons why. What more reasons is needed to be shown here? The child has obviously been taken out of the country against his will and he obviously continues to communicate with his defence team telling them he is being held against his will and abused.
Are you saying the judge should close hid eyes to all that just cos its being done by his parents? undecided

Sagamite:
The court does not have the right to say the parents are guilty and the boy is right, just as much as they cannot say the boy is lying and the parent is right. They need to do an adequate risk assessment. Considering forced marriage DOES NOT and has NEVER been a culture of the Urhobo people or any other tribe miles around them, and the fact no evidence was produced that the parents mentioned marriage or are in preparation for one will FAIL any form of adequate risk assessment.

Judges allocating arbitrary orders that impedes parental rights is dangerous. When he is 18 he can do what ever he likes and if anyone tries to stop him, they are kidnapping or impeding his rights.
The judge has said no such things, the court has ordered the child to be brought back to state his case but the parents are impeding that order which further implicates them I dare say. This has nothing to do with Urhobo people and their culture.
CrimeRe: Nigerian Mother Jailed In The Uk For Sending Son To Nigeria. by duduspace(m): 9:30pm On Feb 18, 2011
Sagamite:
Yes, the state has a right to deny your parental rights if they believe there is a danger to the child, I agree.

But the state has a HUGE responsibility to justify their "belief" with rational and strong evidence/possibilities before exercising that right to deny a parent a right to raise their kids.

The state did not do such in this situation before place the Order. It was UTTERLY flimsy.

But then the court's only order was that the boy should be brought back to stat

I keep on telling you my argument is about the flimsy preceding order, not what happened afterwards.
It may look flimsy to you but to the Judge it is not, a child at 17 can be jailed if he kills someone and would be liable for an extradition request if he runs away while undergoing trial, if such a child now alleges a crime is being perpetuated against him, would you as a judge listen to him or not?
Its all about ensuring fairness to all.

Sagamite:
The law being an arse does not justify not attempting to apply it reasonable and rationally.
There is nothing I see here that suggests it is not being applied exactly like that.

Sagamite:
My understanding is that the law allows for a woman to call the police and demand a man/husband is evicted without having to produce one iota of evidence to show he is about to beat her, has threatened her or has ever done either. He would be given a few minutes to pack some personal item and go and find a roof over his head irrespective of the weather or situation. So keeping one's cool and/or never raising a hand does not count for jackshit under such laws.
When laws can impede people's rights, it is pertinent its application is rational and fair. That is my argument.
I live in the UK and can tell you for certain this is untrue. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar. The police would only advise and try to defuse the situation, they will only remove the man if there is evidence that he has actually raised his hand to the woman or if from his demeanour they feel he might for example if there is a shouting match or some pushing and shoving going on and they won't prevent him from coming back when he has cooled down.
A barring or restraining order can only come where there is proof of physical or emotional violence. In the occasion of a separation or divorce proceedings the needs of the children are put first and the woman may actually be the one to leave the house if for example she has a 'house husband'.
