PoliticsRe: PDP Vows To Dislodge ACN From Southwest. Dream Of The Century! by edogirl2: 4:03pm On Apr 11, 2012
alj harem: I you even given then the chance to ? Reason why ACN is ruling SW today is because of Oshomole and Fashola, apart from that them Aregbesola and co would have lost !
The only reason Messi can play football better than I can is 'cause he's talented with an eye for a goal. Remove those 2 factors and I will be better. Honest

The only reason I'm not the US Secretary of State is 'cause I'm not white, female, and named Hilary Clinton. Remove those things, walahi, I'd right now be US Sec of State.

See how meaningless your comment is.

Point is, fashola, Tinubu, Oshiomole, Aregbesola, fayemi etc are all in ACN together - so what's the point of saying pdp will win if this character leaves or stay in Acn
PoliticsRe: Fearless ACN Hits Back At Jonathan, Warns South South Ethnic Jingoists by edogirl2: 12:51am On Apr 10, 2012
edicolove: One funny thing though is that ACN folks keep claiming they were part of Jonathan's emergence. I live in Lagos so I really wonder at such claim. They never came out to vote during the presidential election. The figures are clear on that. The non indegines in the south west were the votes Jonathan got from there. Their claim is very funny and hypocritical. Truth is PDP does not need yoruba votes to win in 2015. If the yorubas don't change their strategy, they will find themselves completely isolated very very soon.
This is about party politics, between two political parties. It's disingenuous to make this a Yoruba thing.

Also, your warning that Yorubas should not 'provoke' non-indigenes into leveraging their numerical strength (not dominance)in the politics of Lagos assumes that so-called non indigenes will line up in single file behind you to vote against Yoruba interest come 2015.

First, most non-indigenes in Lagos are just glad to live peacefully in Lagos. They have nothing fundamentally against Yorubas, at least no more than they have against other tribes. They will not change their position becos JEG can't look after himself

Second, there is a significant number of non indigens who are from outside the S/South and S/East, such as Northerners who live in Lagos and who will have nothing to do with siding with your position unless ofcourse you promise to hand over more of the remaining 30% Nigerian-owned oil blocks they do not already own - to add to the 70% they control. I suspect you wouldn't want to do that, or would you?

Third, many Lagos residents from the South South are clever enough to see this current issue as party politics and nothing more than that, certainly nothing to justify a meaningless gang-up against Yorubas - I include myself in this group.

Regarding your contention that ACN's antics threaten to leave Yorubas 'isolated,' I disagree. Isolated from what exactly. From central govt? When you look deeply, you will find that way back from the First Republic, Yorubas have always been in opposition, including, most of Obasanjo's time as President. Afterall, being in opposition to the central govt didn't stop Awolowo from excelling as Premier. I doubt threatening them with isolation from JEG's government will send shivers down the spine of any right thinking Yoruba person.

My message to you is, keep tribe out of this. Focus on the real issue.
PoliticsRe: Fearless ACN Hits Back At Jonathan, Warns South South Ethnic Jingoists by edogirl2: 8:12pm On Apr 09, 2012
What's interesting is how easy it is for ACN to rile JEG. One gets the feeling the president feels personaly insulted by any criticism from Acn, thus resulting in poorly judged and often ineffectual response from him & Mr Abati.

The latter has really been shown up to be a liability. He does a poor job of managing the president's public perception.

By lashing out angrily at any Acn criticism, including some it should simply ignore, the presidency has shown a chink in its armour, which Acn exploits brilliantly.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Vs Manchester City (1 - 0) On 8th April 2012 by edogirl2: 6:19pm On Apr 08, 2012
Fantastic! Not watched any game all season, but pple kept telling me how rubbish Arsenal have been.

Today, they were absolutely great. The last 20mins from Arsenal was out of this world.

Arsenal rules in London! Chelsea! Tottenham! where are ya!
PoliticsRe: ACN's Call For President Jonathan's Resignation Is Satanic - Anglican Church by edogirl2: 1:13pm On Apr 06, 2012
Mr Okoh should show dignity and intelligence by keeping his mouth shut and away from politics. You live a multi millionaire lifestyle, surrounded by so much poverty, and make it your job telling opposition party who & when to criticise. You have no credibility, and I say that as an anglican. GEJ Sycophant, when are you going to get out of your mansion/palace, leave your motorcade behind, and walk to the poor, feed them, and bring them the good news. Ofcourse you won't do that.

As for the ACn, they lose credibility each time they make these silly impeachment calls.
CelebritiesRe: MTN Pulse : Davido 'Damiduro' Is The New Face by edogirl2: 12:32pm On Apr 06, 2012
Saw the ad at my cousin's last night, and I thought it was really good. It's everything a typical nigerian advert isn't. I understand it may not play well with everyone, but for their target market, prob 16 - 21 year olds, it's perfect.
PoliticsRe: Lagos State To Contribute ₦1 Billion To Fund Tinubu's Birthday Celebration? by edogirl2: 3:33pm On Mar 26, 2012
This report is so amateurish in its attempt at xter assasination, it's laughable.

So poor Mr Tinubu got on his phone to local govt chairmen and governors DEMANDING they contribute to his birthday OR ELSE! Lol

You can rub dog poo several inches up the motor-way sized nostrils of some people & they will not recognise it's poo. If you hit these people in d face with with propaganda, they still insist it's not.
PoliticsRe: Flash! Ghana Against Ngozi Okonjo Iweala. Nominated Prof. Jeffery Sachs!! by edogirl2: 10:58pm On Mar 25, 2012
Ghana has to play this in line with its national interest. From a Western, and possibly global perspective, Ghana is seen currently as the social, political, and yes, economic flag bearer in West Africa - size isn't everything they say! Ghana may well calculate that supporting an American as opposed to an African will portray it in the international community as a modern, open country that is willing to look beyond a parochial/default 'African first' policy. The Obama white house which appears to be in a perpetual love-in with Ghana will certainly notice that. Our folks in Ogbomosho, Abakaliki , or Zaria might struggle to understand Ghana's position, but something tells me Ghanaians are smarter than we give them credit for. They take our money when in distress, but cleverly outwit us when we need them. Clever!
PoliticsRe: Flash! Ghana Against Ngozi Okonjo Iweala. Nominated Prof. Jeffery Sachs!! by edogirl2: 10:23pm On Mar 25, 2012
The reactions against Ghana are over the top, and show once again, our (almost) innane tendency to arrogate to ourselves (Nigeria) a level of importance, respect, dignity, and positive recognition that the vast majority of nations do not buy into. Aside ocassional/obligatory polite public comments, in private diplomatic circles, we are generally seen as a joke country. I won't be entirely surprised that one of our neighbours, Ghana, see us in similar light. What's surprising is that anyone genuinely believed the Nigerian lady had a good chance of becoming World bank president. The fact she is Nigerian is an obstacle in itself. Others do not rate us as highly as we ignorantly rate ourselves. That's not to say a Nigerian can't ever head a tier 1 global institution, we just need to start improving the image of this country, starting with you and I and every nigerian that cares.
PoliticsRe: Get Our Oil Wells Back, Oshiomhole Tells New Edo Nddc Rep by edogirl2: 1:28pm On Feb 25, 2012
If Edo State has a credible claim, I'm surprised they haven't pursued it all this while. In any event, they should throw it in the open with details such as location, names etc.

Also, Pa Omouigi's comments do not constitute fact until they positively pass the test of a formal public scrutiny. So long as they remain unproven, his comments don't count for much I'm afraid.

Re: Akoko Edo/Afemai thing, this is another inaccurate Wikipedia story. Anyone can go on Wikipedia and make entries - well, almost. Yet, people quote these Wikipedia entries as some sort of absolute authority on things. Even assuming this Afemai story has some truth in it - one thing is certain, a significant part of Akoko Edo do not fall into this Afemai plot.

With the internet these days, individuals are at a whim, able to make up and revise history to suit their purpose. We see it all the time on sites like Nairaland, Wikipedia etc.
PoliticsRe: CBN Donates N100m To Kano Govt For Boko Haram Victims by edogirl2: 10:56pm On Feb 11, 2012
@hercules, re the yoruba stuff, he repeated more or less the same stuff in 2011 during a book lunch in lagos or ogun in the presence of elderly vip guest. just seemed very rude to chastise people in this sort of way. although people rightly ignored him, that, and subsequent loose talk/actions about issues outsiide his remit all point to an unstable megalomaniac. although i'm shocked that a cbn governor has the power - assuming the law allows - to dole out such huge amount, the shock will have been tempered were the amount being distributed to all affected states, not just his own state.
PoliticsRe: CBN Donates N100m To Kano Govt For Boko Haram Victims by edogirl2: 10:23pm On Feb 11, 2012
what seems strange to me is how he has politicised the office of the cbn governor, quite unlike anything i've seen before. when he's not openly telling us 'yorubas are at the root of nigeria's problems,' he's busy telling cnn that revenue sharing formula that favours southern states is one of the reasons behind boko haram. and now, a highly politicised donation. god knows d pple of kano needs all d help they can get, but why focus on your state only. the fact this guy gets away with all these strange actions reinforces the point of those who say jonathan is a weak president. sanusi operates outside his remit at will, just like the president of his own little fiefdom.

CultureRe: Myth or Reality: Yoruba is closer to the Edos culturally than the East is. by edogirl2: 1:47pm On Feb 04, 2012
i hasten to add that i'm not an expert in these things, so i could be wrong. what's important though is that, i do not forsee a situation where binis will agree to form a political union with igbos. dont ask me why? they will in my view, prefer to look westward, or join a 'niger delta' country even though that may not be perfect either.
CultureRe: Myth or Reality: Yoruba is closer to the Edos culturally than the East is. by edogirl2: 1:40pm On Feb 04, 2012
there's historical connection with binis, but in honesty, today, an average edo can't understand a word of yoruba, and i would agree that the average edo person sees himself as closer in many ways than one, to some1 from warri, sapele, or even asaba than someone from oshogbo. whether you can stretch it further & say an edo person feels close to someone from owerri than a yoruba person, i doubt, but i coould be wrong. ofcourse, there are people in edo state, other than binis, who feel closer to igbos. yoruba language degradation amongst hitherto 'yoruba' folks is edo state is a key factor. not sure if it was ogbemudia or someone wlse who 'banned' the teaching of yoruba language in those parts in the 70s. the result is that only the elderly & those born before that era can speak yoruba. the younger ones now speak the local dialect and pidgin only.
PoliticsRe: Festus Keyamo Disagrees With Bankole's Aquittal. by edogirl2: 2:33pm On Feb 01, 2012
another example of an average lawyer thinking he's bigger than he actually is. only in a country like ours where all professional standards have fallen by the way side will you see a lawyer debunking a judgement line by line in the press. losing a case is not a personal matter - in law you win some, you lose some. how does it enhance respect for the bar to play to public gallery in this way? in times past in nigeria, and in serious countries, however disappointed you are with the outcome of a case as a lawyer, you don't try and re-run the case in the press. you simply say you're disappointed with the outcome and will be conferring with your client to chart a way forward, which usually means you'll advise them to appeal or not. when lawyers don't respect a fundamental time-honoured unwritten code, one has to wonder. can anyone imagine rotimi williams behaving like this? not that i wish to compare the abject keyamo to the magnificent williams.
PoliticsRe: Sw: What Is Next? by edogirl2: 12:07am On Feb 01, 2012
i'm not surprised the governments in ekiti, oyo, osun, and ogun have been slow off the mark. one factor comes to mind - certainly ekiti, and possibly osun are not the most viable states. during the 4-year term, govts in these states will end up patching a few roads, re-paint a few school & hospital buildings, and distribute imported used toyotas & nissans to their pre-election cheerleaders/thugs/iyalodes etc and make big pronouncements about poorly thought-out projects, and that's about it. if a govt pays over 80 p/cent of its revenue in salaries, what can it really do in terms of financing beneficial legacy projects? very little. on top of these problems, the previous pdp govts left the acn newcomers with massive debts. little surprise then that the acn govt are harmstrung & will spend their first couple of years trying to free themselves from the debt overhang. i suspect this is what the poster meant by consolidation. also, just as the governors heave a sigh of relief in year2 or 3, the next election will be round the corner. then come that time pdp will blame them for non-performance! how can they perform if you leave states finances in shreds when you were in govt? folks need to cut their expectations of these acn governors to realistic levels. the guy in edo has been able to perform slightly better becos of oil cash, i think. and he's been around longer than the others bar fashola.

PoliticsRe: Wickedness by edogirl2: 2:43pm On Jan 19, 2012
lol, i understand op's frustration. the stuffs we've all been reading & hearing about in the media in recent times have left many, including even comfortable working people feeling angry, and ultimately frustrated by the share scale of the problems that we face as a country, and the lack of hope for the future. people should understand that this is no longer just about subsidy, or a sitting president. total gloom seem to be enveloping society. one must hope for the best i guess.
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Christians, Yoruba Muslims. . . .what Is That? by edogirl2: 2:23pm On Jan 19, 2012
well done katsumoto, exotic, and negro for a largely civilised and fascinating debate about history, religion, & society. thoroughly enjoyed. thank you.
PoliticsRe: Senate Bill: Social Security For Unemployed Graduates & The Aged by edogirl2: 8:59pm On Jan 16, 2012
socialising the economy further in this manner will be a mistake,  it would further weaken the already shaky structure of the economy. besides, asking able bodied men & women to qeueu on a monthly basis to receive free cash will send out the wrong message. also the amount required to fund the process will prob double every year due to corruption & soon it would overwhelm the government. the best way to create jobs is to liberalise the economy in a transparent & responsible way; invest heavily in education, infrastructure & security; plus crackdown on corruption.

PoliticsRe: Breaking News! Petroleum Minister Invites Efcc To Investigate Pppra by edogirl2: 10:05pm On Jan 15, 2012
there's considerable body of evidence, albeit unproven, that leads me to believe the minister has an unhealthy lust for money, our money. she should be investigated, but we know that wont happen.
PoliticsRe: Breaking News! Petroleum Minister Invites Efcc To Investigate Pppra by edogirl2: 9:58pm On Jan 15, 2012
minister - can i have a copy of the kpmg reoport? no, minister, i will not allow you to see this very important report, says mr oniwon. erm,,,why? what do you mean i can't see it. i just won't let you see it, full stop, responds oniwon. ok then, concludes minister. what nonsense. how can you come on a public forum and suggest that oniwon may have denied the minster a copy of the report. how credible is that? people should have their thinking hats on before making ridiculous statements.
PoliticsRe: Breaking News! Petroleum Minister Invites Efcc To Investigate Pppra by edogirl2: 9:50pm On Jan 15, 2012
nothing sincere about this woman, or this gov't. how about all the looters efcc has 'investigated' all these years, how many have been successfully prosecuted and convited. almost zero. this woman's hands are also allegedly dirty when it comes to corruption, so how can she be a credible champion of the fight against corruption. if the nigerian situation wasn't so sad, i'd call it a joke.
PoliticsRe: SE And SS Unity Is The Key To Fight The Sponsored Yoruba Protest In SW by edogirl2: 9:33pm On Jan 15, 2012
this your ss/se unity, when and where was it agreed? you jump from thread to thread insulting yoruba people and blaming them for all your personal problems. people by & large ignore you, yet you persist.  thousands of young people all over the country are visiting nairaland for the first time to garner information following the subsidy saga, yet you, a grown man, polute the forum with this nonsense. pls argue for or against the subsidy and keep the ethnic thing to yourself.
