Crime300 Persons Killed In Plateau Community - The Vanguard Newspaper by ehissi(op): 1:28pm On Sep 17, 2018
The indigenous people of Jos North, Jos South, Riyom and Barkin Ladi Local Government areas of Plateau State, have said no fewer than 300 persons have been killed in the troubled Plateau State in the last three and half months by herders.

Speaking on the platform of Berom Ethnic Nationality, they pleaded for the intervention of the international community to end the incessant attacks in their communities, lamenting that the deaths were between June and September in Barkin-Ladi and Riyom Local Government areas.

According to them, they have lost confidence in the ability of the Nigerian government to protect them in the face of continuous killings, harassment and confiscation of their ancestral lands by rampaging herders and called on the international community for urgent intervention before they are wiped out.

In a statement by General Secretary of Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation, BECO, Da Davou Choji; President of Berom Women Development Association, BEWDA, Ngo Florence Jambol, and President of Berom Youth Moulders Association, BYM Choji Chuwang, and issued in Jos, they said they need international intervention to save them from extinction.

According to the statement, “the Berom Nation has lost confidence in the ability of government to defend the rights of its citizens in the communities under attack by herdsmen.

“So far, between June and September, more than 300 lives have been lost, 38,000 others displaced and property worth millions of naira destroyed with no tangible remedial action or programme in place by government at all level.

“The call has become necessary given the failure of Federal Government, security agencies and the state government to uphold the basic tenets of justice.”

The statement also frowned at the sudden transfer of the then Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Anthony Atolagbe, under “very suspicious circumstances, having arrested 11 suspected killer herdsmen in connection with the massacre of June 24, where over 230 innocent lives were wasted.

“The lack of prosecution of arrested attackers is injustice as well as a high level of collaboration against the Berom and indeed, other victims by yet to be identified powers from above.”

The people called for “the reconstruction of destroyed villages, relief materials to IDPs camps and the guarantee of security in the affected areas, more so that the attacks have remained unabated and determined to penetrate the Jos city centre and environs.”

Throwback:
The only bias I have betrayed here is a bias towards the circumstances of the Nigerian in the diaspora.

Many who have bothered to reply my post here seem to think that the NYSC is so important to the daily living of the Nigerian who knows US or Europe as their home or society, talkless of those who were actually born abroad and lived all their lives there.

NYSC only becomes relevant when they opt to associate with Nigeria that was previously just a holiday destination for family engagements and functions.

So we as Nigerians need to understand and be rational in analysing such circumstances. This is not a defence of forgery, and that is why I even fault her for even bothering to enquire about something that ought to be an irrelevant forgotten past, that should not matter as regards her Nigerianess that she embraced in adulthood.

Many are faulting her that why didn't she come back to serve when she graduated as though she deliberately hid from Nigeria, that was of no significance to her life then.

In fact, some have painted a picture of criminality when an American or Briton or German who is Nigerian only by ancestral heritage, refuses to come to Nigeria (that they may have never visited before) to serve in the NYSC scheme.

That is the perspective I and Alibaba have tried to bring to the fore. The perspective of the American or Briton that might one day return to his/her heritage, while the irrational Nigerian mob chorus, "why didn't you come to serve NYSC when you graduated from the University of Munich or Stanford 20yrs ago when you were 22yrs old?".

CC: ehissi, safarigirl.
Bro!!! Get it together and get it right once. You are not under compulsion to rush back to Nigeria immediately after you graduate abroad as a Nigerian to come and serve.

What is compulsory is that you must have NYSC discharge certificate before you can get or work a job here in Nigeria. You get a discharge certificate either through 1yr service or exemption.

If as at when you obtain your first degree you were over 30, then you are automatically exempted, when you apply for the NYSC you will just get a discharge certificte straight with respect to exemption . They won't allow you serve, it's that serious.

But if you obtain your first degree before the age of 30, and after a number of years you return back to the country. If you must work, first go and do your NYSC and get discharged because no serious establishment will employ you without it, why? Because it is crime to do so, its that serious.

However if you return back to the country before or after the age of 30, and you obtained your first degree before the age of 30 and you still want to avoid NYSc, only then can you apply for exemption

100% NYSC will only give exemption on health grounds, or if you are in a situation, legal or otherwise that restricts your movement e.g you are an IDP camp resident or in prison or police custody or undergoing trial etc

Else you must submit NYSC parade, that is why I know she forged it clean and clear. Even people whey dey forge go ask you wetin you want.

Most people forge medical report with medical conditions like caridiomyopathy - that thing reign well, well that year, Jos corpers dey craze grin - and apply for exemption and move on, which is the next legit option, instead she chose oluwole certificate.

Haaaaaaaaaa...........

In any case, the conclusion of the matter is this, the compulsion for NYSC is tied to you getting a job here. Meaning if you are not going to get a job, you are free to bone NYSC.

If kemi had come to Naija and just slayed all day on instagram, no problem, technically no crime has been committed.

But the moment employment or a job comes to the scene, its a crime for her to take it, knowing she has not served - whether she owns the company or not isnt relevant - that's chapter one.

Chapter 2 is that, Kemi Adeosun's resignation suggests that she opted to stopped working, not that she was fired for presenting a fake certificate, which indicts her employers, in this case the Federal government.

If you are employed, and your employers take your documents for verification - which must be done in your first year of employment, that is mandatory in government circles - and it is discovered that your NYSC certificate is fake, the employer - in this case the goverment - ought to have her fired and then refer her to the AG for prosecution.

In Aunty Kemi's case, she worked 3 years, no verification. It was a third party - premium times - that exposed her forgery, which was even defended by 2 members of the FG's kitchen cabinet and in the end, Aunty kemi simply presented letter of resignation and escaped to the UK.

Both ogun state government that referred her to the Federal government, after she served there as a commissioner of finance and the Federal government that didn't sack her are both culpable of aiding and abetting forgery and employment of a fake discharged corper.....

This is what the law dictates, any other thing short of this is infantile sentiments that has no place in our law books, nor in any court of law who foundations are rooted and grounded primarily on the 1999 constitution and other legal books worthy of preview by members of the bench or the bar.......

Interesting feedback.

So are you saying anyone who qualified to serve at the age of their university graduation, are still legitimately allowed to be mobilised for NYSC even when they are already adults?

Is that arrangement allowed as per NYSC statutes?

All I have been harping about is her circumstances being a Briton living in her foreign society where she had no business with NYSC then. This same circumstance is still prevalent with many foreigners of Nigerian heritage, who may someday want to associate with their Nigerian roots and work with the Nigerian government in public office.
@Bolded! Yes My aunt was 40/41 when she was sent to serve. It's noy a mater of sentiments, it what the law says. Why did you think she ran away?

Majority of the Medical Doctors that serve, how many are under 30yrs?

Plus our laws do not permit foreigners to serve as ministers, so I already know that even though, she may be forming british passport, she worked in the Cabinet with her Nigerian Passport, meaning the NYSC Act applies to her, and so does the mandatory 1yr NYSC program.

Any other thing is just sentimental higgy hagga.

Of which that is by the wayside. There is also prescribed punishment for employers who give jobs to graduates who haven't undertaken NYSC.

That is why, all employers of labour must verify the NYSC Certificate of graduates before they are employed. Meaning both the Ogun state and the Federal government also have a case to answer.......

Dude all that you know about NYSC is because you were resident in Nigeria and schooled in Nigeria or abroad.

The Nigerian who was born American or Briton, does not know anything about your NYSC within the American or British society.

So there are many Americans and Britons of Nigerian heritage who have graduated early and proceeded to secure jobs in their foreign society that they know as home.

If any circumstances make them begin to associate with Nigeria in their adult years and obtain a Nigerian passport due to their heritage, are telling me you will be asking them why they did not come and serve in a Nigeria that was not their country or society at the time they were living their distant life in UK or USA with their family?

I repeat, that the mistake Adeosun made was even bothering to enquire about getting any exemption from NYSC.

Even those who are known to have had patents resident in Nigeria and even had part of their own education in Nigeria, went abroad for studies and never looked back as per NYSC, only to take government jobs later on and never resigned when it became news that they never serve or got NYSC exemption.

Adeosun should have just disregarded NYSC altogether. Her nationality and residential circumstances at the time she was young enough to qualify for NYSC in a far away foreign Nigeria, would have been enough waiver to hold on to whatever government office she might have been in charge of.
False!! She sought to get a job immediately she came back to naija - check her internet diaries - plus she worked as commissioner of finance in ogun state. She was interviewed severally and serially in between job hunts till Ibikunle called her to serve as commissioner .

There is no way she would not have been told. When my Aunt was invited/taken on loan to serve in a sensitive position in FCMB, a woman who does not have WAEC, she schooled and lived all her days abroad, from Bsc to her MBA at the Prestigious Kelloggs busines school, who has worked in 2 major us banks that I know of, they asked her for her NYSC Certificate during her briefing/interview, she said she didn't need one and there, there they told her to go and serve.

She mentioned age/exemption, they mentioned law and that was how she had to go squeeze her big yansh put for inside khaki for one year, before she could even start working in FCMB, they didnt even permit her to handle her position as a corper.

Stop all this trash, she knew. She cannot claim that she was oblivious from that time till no that it was fake. Stop all these sentimentally higgy hagga abi is she that daft or dumb?? huh

If you even know anything about NYSC, then you would have known that the age a Nigerian graduated and acquired Bsc is used in determining if you do your NYSC and not the year or age she was resident in Nigeria.

Meaning, even if she return back when she was 50years of age, so far she was under 30 when she gained her first degree, from wherever in the world she got it, she is owing us one year mandatory NYSC parade....... angry

She will only be exempted on health grounds.

The problem with Kemi from the beginning was trying to lie that she applied for exemption on the ground of age. That was where smart Nigerians knew she was lying and her certificate was forged.

If she asked the NYSC some real questions, then she would have known that her age, when she returned is not grounds for an exemption and that was where she was caught in her lie that she got exemption based on age.

If you don't believe what I have said, ask anybody you know in Camp or doing NYSC right now to confirm for you.

The NYSC Act is a public document, you can confirm for yourself.

My aunt who returned from the US after she finished her masters and had worked in 2 major banks there for some years, did her NYSC at age 41.

I know architects who did NYSC at age 50, so what is so fantastic about doing NYSC at 34..... huh

Are you too daft to understand what she wrote in her resignation? Or did you read that she left Nigeria as a teenager to go study in a university abroad, thereby necessitating the customary return to Nigeria that only exist in your own imagination?

She only visited Nigeria with her British passport on occasions. She was never a resident of Nigeria until she was 34yrs. Till today, her parents still reside in the UK where she was born.

Her interests in Nigeria only began long after she had passed the age to serve. Many Nigerians born and resident in the UK have graduated below the age of 30yrs, yet they do not come to Nigeria for any NYSC because they do not have any business with Nigeria besides visiting when a grandparent died or a cousin was wedding.

That they do not have any interest with Nigeria now does not mean they might not show an interest later.

These are the same type of Nigerians that are daily celebrated here on this forum, as working with Google or Facebook or NASA or the White House. Nigerians in the diaspora, like the ones that were on hand to receive the vice president when he visited Google in the US. Nigerians that don't even know that anything called NYSC exist as it remains irrelevant to them, until the day they decide they want to be Nigerians and not American or Briton.

So by default she made enquires about securing an exemption, and one was certainly obtained through her associates from NYSC but fake. It was not obtained under the bridge at Obalende. It was certainly obtained from NYSC officials who gave a document that was not the legitimate issue.

Many Nigerians currently hold particulars that they think is legitimate having been obtained at the legitimate relevant government office, yet they are invalid.

EventsRe: Demoralized: I Went To A Wire Wire Wedding by ehissi(m): 7:58pm On Sep 16, 2018
InvisibleB:
Dear Nairalanders

Over the weekend, i got invited to a wedding by a friend who is related to the couple getting married. So I put on one of my nice outfits and went with my friend. The wedding went smoothly, and we then left for the venue of the reception. When we got there after eating and drinking, the couple hit the dance floor and started dancing. So guests joined them on the dance floor and started dancing with them and spraying them money. I waited for my food to digest a little and then beckoned on a lady selling new notes. I bought some so i could spray the couple too.

While I was waiting for some people to leave the dance floor so I could dance and spray the couple a group of boys entered the hall surrounding a guy in the middle who looked like their leader who was carrying bundles of new naira notes. They started to spray the couple several bundles of high denomination of naira raising eyebrows. They exchange pleasantries with the groom and left. Soon after they left several groups entered and repeated the same thing. Most of these guys were in their 20's and obviously, wire boys. I became hesitant to get up and go spray my small change. I went outside to see what was happening and marvelled at the kind of exotic cars they brought. One group had soldiers guarding them! Yes, Nigerian Army soldiers!

Brethren, I cannot do wire wire, because I have a sensitive conscience and it pains me when my money is stolen, but I have come under pressure over the years from several of my friends to do it as i am good with computers. I have made some money online from adsense and crypto but right now both of these niches are at a low ebb. I really want to have and spend money like those guys, what legit online stuff are you doing that is paying very well that you would advise that I learn and do? Thanks for taking the time to read. Happy Sunday
