FamilyRe: Okada-Riding Ladies? I Think They'll Surely Thrive! by Ejadamen(f): 8:25pm On Jun 20, 2009
Nigeria is too conservative. I personally have never seen one and didn't know they existed till today.
They exist o! Yes in Nigeria. Take a road trip to the east. Once you cross the bridge into Onitsha, pass the town and move on toward Okija/Ihiala you'll see them. Women riding okadas. My eyes almost popped out the first time I saw it shocked shocked. I've seen them in Imo state and Aba but never carrying passengers commercially. I think it's more common among the villagers as a mode of transport compared to bicycles. But the one i saw in aba was not a villager rather a woman on her way home from church shocked grin shocked Wonders shall never end. So since women are doing it in the east already it just might develop into business. wink grin
FoodRe: I Don't Know How To Cook! by Ejadamen(f): 2:37pm On Jun 19, 2009
@ brein, it's none of your business what i do while my husband goes to the market. You don't want to go to the market and you want to learn how to cook. How possible? Then marry a woman who shares your ideas about the market and forget about cooking. I was merely trying to point out that men do go to the market and they don't die before getting home.

Jollof rice:
You'll need tomatoes, tatashe(big red pepper), pepper, onions, crayfish, rice, groundnut oil(or any other you like), rice, salt and other seasoning e.g knorr cubes, curry, thyme, ginger, garlic etc(i use all).

NB: You'll have to determine the quantities of the raw materials yourself. Work with what you think is best for you.

1. Blend the tomatoes, tatashe, pepper, onions, crayfish, garlic and ginger to a smooth paste.
2. Boil this paste until all the water dries out. Don't let it burn o!
3. In a frying pan, heat up some ground nut oil and add chopped onions to fry for abt 1 minute.
4. Add the hot oil with fried onions to the pot containing boiled tomato paste.
5. Fry the paste, add curry, thyme, salt and knorr cube(s) to taste.
6. Wash rice with water and set it down and stir frying tomato paste frequently to prevent burning
7. Frying should not exceed 5 mins, add some water into the fried mixture(enough to boil your rice) and add washed rice.
8. Check rice periodically and add water as needed until rice gets done.

You can garnish your jollof rice with green pepper, chopped carrots, shrimps, onions etc. Just add them at the end, when the rice is done and let the hot steam cook them a bit. They taste better crunchy. For shrimps, you'll have to add them a little earlier.

Lemme know how it goes. wink

FashionRe: Fashion Face Off: Beyonce Vs Rihanna. by Ejadamen(f): 12:56pm On Jun 19, 2009
tpiah:
Cant believe I'm saying this but in these pictures Beyonce has a more natural, confident look.

Her expression matches the outfit and she looks like she's having fun, unlike Rihanna.

Body language: Rihanna looks somehow stiff. Dont know if its the camera giving that impression.
I disagree. Rihanna does not look stiff. Yes Beyonce looks confident cos she is but having fun? Strikes me more like playing to the camera. I am tired of that smile. Rihanna looks natural. She's herself. She doesn't have to smile to look good on camera whereas Beyonce has to smile and pose just right to look good. My opinion anyways.
FashionRe: Fashion Face Off: Beyonce Vs Rihanna. by Ejadamen(f): 8:35pm On Jun 18, 2009
I love Rihanna's style. She looks good in almost anything and it just flows with her body.

Beyonce looks nice but she does look like she's trying to hard. undecided

FoodRe: How To Make Mama-put Stew by Ejadamen(f): 12:04pm On Jun 15, 2009
@ ifyalways, ha!!!

I think to get mama put stew, don't blend the tomatoes and pepper to a smooth paste it should be rough. This is best achieved using a manual vegetable grater. Fry the stew, preferably with smoked fish and spices that u like(you can use something else,i'm a sucker for smoked fish.) Also use iru (locust beans) while frying the stew and let the stew be thick not watery. The iru gives it that wonderful mama put aroma. Try it and see.

FoodRe: I Don't Know How To Cook! by Ejadamen(f): 10:44am On Jun 12, 2009
Today's lesson is in okro soup
Choose what you want to use: fish, meat, chicken etc
IMO, the best way to eat okro is with smoked fish kiss
1. Buy okro, in the market you can have it grated or sliced, your choice.
2. Wash and clean the smoked fish.
3. In a pot pour in a small amount of water, small o!
4. Add grated okro, some dry pepper, salt, knorr cube, washed smoked fish and some sliced onions(if u like)
5. Add a little red oil and allow to boil for 5mins.

Soup is ready. This is the way i like my okro so try it and let's hear. It should go well with your eba.
FoodRe: I Don't Know How To Cook! by Ejadamen(f): 10:23am On Jun 09, 2009
Where were u supposed to breathe out of before?
Making eba:
1. get some yellow garri(best for making eba IMO)
2. boil some water
3. take a bowl/pot whatever u want to make the eba in
4. pour some of the boiling water in the bowl and sprinkle garri into the hot water until the garri has reached the level of the water
5. depending on how soft u want it you can pour some hot water over the exposed garri
6. cover the bowl for 2 mins
7. turn the eba until all is blended

Since it'll be ur first time it mite turn out funny but more practice will help u get what you want. Try it and report back. wink
