Phones / Re: XIAOMI Discussion Thread [updated]* by eleojo23: 6:25am On Jun 03, 2020
Whether they reopen the old Xiaomi thread or not, it has served its purpose.

It made me a Xiaomi user in 2017.
It contributed largely to officially bringing Xiaomi to Nigeria because it made Xiaomi popular.

I am typing with that same phone I bought in 2017 and I have had no need to take it to any service centre
because it is still as good as new.

Xiaomi has come to stay and if other phone brands don't like it, there is nothing they can do about it. The better step up their game and produce devices that will match Xiaomi's offerings.

Religion / Re: Churches, Mosques To Remain Closed In Lagos by eleojo23: 6:22pm On Jun 02, 2020
Can this government just agree that the lockdown thing has failed?

This makes no sense.
Large number of people have been gathering in markets and pushing themselves in bus stops in Lagos everyday since they eased the lockdown. What is church gathering compared with that?

Corona has spread round Lagos and beyond. We should just be thankful that it is only causing mild symptoms which many people are treating at home.

okpurukata:
Thank God for the courage of the op, and the honesty of various commenters so far.
Mine started with serious body ache. High fever for two days and I went to the hospital without delay. Doctor treated Malaria. This was last week Tuesday and PH was on lockdown. By Friday i had totally lost sense of smell, but can taste sweetness and bitterness. I was so scared. The fever subsided but the body ache remained. I was so weak that i could hardly climb staircase. On a normal day I do 10k plus steps every two days while excercising.
I could not believe this is happening to me. I already have bp problems and also on sugar medication. Scared shit.
I called NCDC but no response. By Sunday the loss of smell persisted. I cannot perceive my perfume, soap, smoke, anything. My husband tried to assure me its not covid but deep within me I knew I have got it. I was scared for my children and family. How do i really isolate when i still dish out food and they always come in to talk to me. By Sunday I called earlier and was told to come to elekahia stadium for test. I went there in the afternoon but was told by security that they were not around.
I went back to see my doctor and he simply told me to add home remedies. Crush ginger and garlic together, add to boiling water, and inhale the fumes while covered with a towel.
I added dogonyaro leaves. This became my medication since then. I just got better. Taste and smell started returning yesterday. Its not like anything i have ever experienced all my life.
My niece also developed symptoms on monday and was taking the same treatment. She is ok now.
Guys, covid 19 is real. God is just merciful to us here in Nigeria. I thank God for the opportunity to share this experience. I am still isolating from the aged and vulnerable.

From some comments here, It seems NCDC is not even ready to attend to people.

That gentleman ought to be flogged, for having the audacity to steal a tailor's dummy, and a dustbin, of all things that must have been there for the looting in that small shop.

WTF A tailor's dummy ? How much is that worth ? Maybe he came back later for the toilet. Damn.

Catch that man NOW, and have him flogged for this act of idiocy that has already entered the history books.

The things we often take for granted are very important.
See how many people are looking for their sense of smell and taste.
After all this is over, let's learn to appreciate the little things.

My sense of smell was down for some days. I had mild catarrh sha after one heavy rain like that...

As for my sense of taste, that one is still intact. I regretted it the day I put a little too much salt in my food, I no fit chop am grin

But on a serious note, I think many of us have caught the virus and recovered. I had mild chills recently and it went away before I could complete the dose of malaria tablets.

We already have herd immunity in Africa.

I think the reason antimalaria drugs help people with covid symptoms is because many of them contain artemisinin derivatives gotten from Artemisia Annua which is the main content of the Madagascar cure.

For 5 houses
Abuja
Kano
Lagos
Rivers
Delta
Fan
TV
Bulbs
Table fridge

Five houses? I see millions....cheesy

But this information is still not detailed enough.

You need to state the power consumption (in watts) of each of the appliances you want to use in each house. Will you use the exact type of appliance in all the houses? How many hours do you intend to run the appliances?

These details are important because it will help to know the size of inverter, the number of batteries, solar panels and size of solar charge controller you will need. The cost of the individual components will give you an idea of how much to budget for the project.

The protest aside, from what I have seen across the country, Nigerian cities lack aesthetics.

Look at Port Harcourt...Lagos Mainland, Aba, Lokoja, Abuja suburbs (Dutse, Lungu in Gwarimpa etc) all dirty-looking.

Don't even bother looking at the aerial pictures of most of our cities. It is a disaster.

We need to do more.

Education / Re: Please Help My English Is Very Bad by eleojo23: 10:48am On May 26, 2020
Read novels, newspapers and books generally.

Also pay attention to dialogue in English movies (but no go learn African-American English sha so that you will not start saying stuffs like ''you was looking at me" grin)

Most of us learnt English from reading novels, everyday conversations and movies not from English grammar textbooks sef. But if you can lay your hands on any good English grammar text, it will help you.

Also where you live and your friends determines how good your English will be. If you stay in an area where pidgin is the order of the day, you will not learn good grammar.

The interstate lockdown was doomed to failure from the begining.

OP, What is the name of the cream na?

This your story is incomplete. State the name of the cream.

There's what they call off-label use and its usually done based on consideration of risk Vs benefit.

Doctors can prescribe a drug will low risk but high benefit for a patient based on the patient's peculiar condition.

Besides, topical agents like creams are less likely to cause damages than the ones you swallow.

I am not defending them
but you see this matter, they will use technicalities to defeat your argument.

Reach out to them first and hear what they have to say but the case is watery if what you stated is all there is to it.

You sure about this cumulative shipping so? Except you don't use the AliExpress recommended shipping methods oo.

Yesterday I was browsing around them, saw an item with like $1 shipping, no wahala. As I dey increase the quantity e dey go up small small. I just say let me try 10 & gbam, shipping went up to above $100. Even the MakeSkyBlue MPPT, shipping for one na like $12 for two $100. Funny eh.

The way to bypass that is to pay for the items one by one. For instance, if you need 5 units, add one to cart, pay for it then add another one, pay and so on. cheesy

6. DON'T FINISH ANY FOOD GIVEN TO YOU
Whether the food is small or plenty, and no matter how delicious it is. Never ask for alcohol if you are asked to make a choice of drink. Don't be carried away. This is very important.

Oga I will finish the food they give me.

Why will they give me full plate of food if they don't want me to finish it? What kind of test is that? sad
If I don't finish it, I'll be pretending and like you said, pretending is not good. And besides, why waste good food?

The only thing I would do is not to eat like a glutton but I assure you that slowly and steadily, I'll finish the food. grin

I have gotten Fullriver 40ah, and APC UPS with Suoer smart charger.

But the APC UPS surge is USA not common Europe/Nigeria

What can I do?

I had this issue when I was experimenting with a UPS some time ago. I couldn't find a suitable plug so I opened up the UPS and connected wires directly to the wires feeding one of the AC out/battery backup point from inside.
The wire was then connected to an extension box. That way, I was able to use it to power my appliances.
