Why can't you do a masters degree whilst keeping the relationship?

Will you be separated by distance?

What are his issues exactly?

Where were you admitted?

Are you employed?

Education / Re: Bsc! Teaching? by ell77(f): 6:39pm On Apr 10, 2009
I am not sure about Nigeria. That sounds strange to me! But in UK physics, microbiology and biochemistry are highly recognized degrees and have their own fields and career paths associated with them. However, teaching is also a respected profession here. It must be false, what about banking jobs, they take any degree. Whoever, told you that, I believe has told you the wrong information.

This company is registered in the UK.

It specializes in helping Nigerians apply to study in the UK, they are coming to Nigeria next month (some of their represented universities have agreed to discount the tuition fee by the amount this company is willing to sponsor the students by, and it will be written on their admission letter if offered a place at this institution - only available if you apply through this company). Please check out their website for more information.

I tried posting in Education and did not see it, then I tried travel and also did not see it, I finally put it in Education Services though.

But maybe I will try again, perhaps it was a bug, I just thought the moderators deleted it, that's why I decided to come to this post on scams.

By the way, I have an official email address now director@degreeangel.co.uk. But still updating the website.
NYSC / Re: Help Please! Advice For Expatriate Going For Nysc by ell77(f): 10:15pm On Mar 24, 2009
@poster - ok I am assuming you are a Nigerian that schooled abroad and so the correct term in terms of NYSC is foreign student. ok?

I was born, bred and raised abroad (UK). The first time i visited Nigeria i was 16.

I felt sad I missed out on the opprotunity to know my country and after finishing my degree and working for a few years I went to Nigeria last year to do my NYSC so I can advise u.

There are alot of hypocrites on this forum. In my room out of 28 girls (lagos camp) about 5 left. 2 left on the first day and came back on the last day of camp. Make no mistake about it I was the only foreign student in this room so this is not a foreign phenomena in fact it is the ones who have family here 'who get leg pass'.

Those who did not leave completely also tipped guards to go for the day and come back in the evening.

Those who did not leave faked health problem.

As for the service year there are even more ways around that.

I am proud to say i did my best to serve my country. I am of dual Nationality but i know what colour my skin is and i dream of settling in 9ja finally - hopefully bringing jobs and a few institutions that will help the people. I elected for a special CD to help better Nigeria and I am proud of the little cointribution i made 'cos i know it made a difference.

It is fine to be scared - anyone would be going to a place where so many people ar neagtive about the experience. Ok during camp i was sick the doctors gave me worng advice and condition deteriorated i contracted malaria and typhoid simultaneously and had to be hospitalised on drip for one week - infact the drugs i took gave me ringin in the ears and i felt like dying.

I lost about 1 stone and a half.

During my service year i was in an okada accident with a car.

I narrowly missed one chance/last chance (woteva its called).

These are not exagerrations they are fact.

I know plenty of people who did not do much of the NYSC and collected the certificate (foreign and home students alike).

I can't blame anyone for not wanting to do it. Look at the corpers that died during the year - just because they wanted to serve their country (I'm not even talking about the riots in Jos).

But if you ask me would i do it all again.

The answer, YES

The NYSC lacks alot - not paying on time, bad administration, not matching graduates to jobs that fit their profile, inadequate health care etc.

But in the year I grew.

In life I have learnt to make the most out of everything and though i was raised in UK, i am fully Nigerian in the sense of 'suffering and smiling'. But more importantly it helped me to earn street awareness.

I know how to cross a dual carriageway. I know how to talk to danfo conductor. I know how to mve around. They might still be able to cheat me in Lagos. But not as much as they can cheat a freshie like you!

It is an adaptation process - and I now know that whatever job or business i enter in 9ja i will feel content cos i have been thru' worse.

There is a lot of jealousy towards foreign students - and i am not directing it to anyone on this forum but i don't see anything wrong with what she asked.

Is it any different from a Lagosian not wanting to go to Jos?

The fear of unknown coupled with rumours and stories is always very strong.

You showed her that Nigerians are not supportive of Nigerians in diaspora and so she won't want to come back.

If she can get someone to put her in a company all likelihood is she doesn't have to do NYSC at all. She can buy her certificate.

The fact that she is asking ur advice shows she feels bad about not doing NYSC and deep down wants to do the NYSC but just wants some support, guidance or ideas.

Nigerians living in Nigeria might think it is not their job to welcome back foreign students - but i saw how men were so welcoming of female foreign students and females so welcoming of male foreign students and not to their own gender.

I wonder why? perhaps they want a fiance visa??

Lets not deceive ourselves.

Some foreign students can add value to Nigeria. Some can't or won't.

Often the wrong ones enter the wrong places. But whose fault is that?

My dear, my posts are always long and it has been a long time since i have been on this forum. But if u want more specific answers don't hesitiate to msg me using nairaland.

Travel / Re: Building A Rapid Mass Transit System (Metro-Rail) In Lagos by ell77(f): 12:09am On Dec 30, 2008
I will definately be following this post i am very impressed with everything i'm seeing in this post. I know Nigeria is capable of so much and i just wish I could be a part of this new development. I am planning to do a MSc relating to this and general infrastructure and development so that I can play a part someday. After doing NYSC in Lagos for almost a year I know how much of a difference even just the BRT makes and these developments are welcome and attainable.
Imagine:

-Less go-slow - visually nicer and faster routes to destination
-Easier movement for tourists and corpers
-Less Armed robbers
-Less 'One Chance' or 'Last Chance'

As citizens of Nigeria please lets do all we can to make sure this rolls out with no hitches which will mean alot of cooperation as the developmental stages will cause some disruption which is necessary. We can do it!
Romance / Re: Would You Date Or Marry A Poor Woman by ell77(f): 11:56pm On Dec 29, 2008
tope2000:

Excatly, most rich girls are very annoying n spoilt n not all of them make a good housewife cool - too lazy to cook or can't even boil water, can't clean the house, can't do anything without househelp. pathetic!

I don't agree that most rich girls are too lazy to boil water. Anyways whatever happened to substance i.e. what's in the heart? There are wicked rich and poor women who cook and don't cook. I don't believe money is that important when looking at a wife - character is. But having said that of you have to choose I wouldn't go for poor - why would you go for a woman simply because you think she will be grateful for the acquired wealth - remember human beings are insatiable so its better to deal with a woman who already has money (atleast a little) so that you know she values you for you - if a freak accident happened and you lost ur dough - you know she could not only support the family but would still be there.

Think about it . . .

Religion / Re: How Do We Combat Fake Pastors In Nigeria? by ell77(f): 3:43pm On Feb 08, 2008
Yes I thought this was not so much a problem of fake pastors but ignorance caused by lack of education

But somehow there are many educated people who i have met who appear to be otherwise endowed with common sense who still will believe anything told to them in relation to having family members as witches, be it mother, grandma, child etc (in the UK as well as Naija). Also these pastors will always accuse the weakest of people i.e. a widower or child - I wonder why.

Anyway are there any people who can shut down these fake pastors. Eveyone is entitled to believe what they want but when someone is encouraging the mistreatment of ostracising of a human being is that enough for the government or someone to step in? I wish i were able to help these children. As for the parents they are allowing themselves to be used and I don't even have their time. Atleast the guy who took in these children was from the same area. So what was it that made him see the innocence in these children when their own parents could not?

God help us!
Food / Re: Operation: I Must Get Fat! by ell77(f): 1:02pm On Feb 08, 2008
What if when you become fat you want to go back and find you can't? Please oh, I know someone it happened to! Getting fat through unhealthy means will make you . . . UNHEALTHY!

I understand why it may be frustrating though but it is hard to lose fat once you get it so no need to experiment. Besides when you have children you wil add weight and many men add weight once that get older (provided you are not being malnourished).

Eat atleast 3 meals a day of regular portions and make sure there is a balance of carbs and proteins. You should add some weight if you were not doing this before. Also go to a doctor. What are your bowel habits like? You may have intolerances to certain foods if you go to the toilet too frequently in a day.
Food / Re: What Meal Is Appropriate For An Underweight Person by ell77(f): 12:56pm On Feb 08, 2008
Are you trying to fatten someone up! ROFLAO! Anyway, some people are naturally slim and may look that way no matter how much you feed them.

The person may even have food intolerances i.e. food that makes them go to toilet as soon as they eat it.

Besides most veg and fruit any food should be able to add weight. but having a good mix of a carb (pasta, eba, rice, fufu, pounded yam etc) and protein (beef, goat, chicken) is best I guess. Vagetables should also be added for necessary nutrients and these are already found in most in soups.

Red meats and dairy are the most fattening as well as fried foods. Too many of these fatty foods can also lead to high blood pressure, food allergies, heart disease, diabetes, liver and kidney problems, osteoarthritis, colon, breast and uterine cancers.

So rethink if you are trying to fatten this person for the sake of being fat as that is not good a balanced healthy meal will make the peson gain weight slowly and gradually to a healthy level and that is better. wink
