79-year-old Bill Oxley, ex-agent of America’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has confessed that he killed Bob Marley, the reggae legend. Marley tragically died aged only 36-years-old, following a four-year battle with cancer. The story of cancer may seem untrue as startling claims have emerged from a deathbed confession made by an ex-CIA officer, where he admitted to the killing. According to a report by the Daily Star,Oxley is alleged to have claimed the murder of Marley among 17 other assassinations for the American government between 1974 and 1985, at a time when he said the CIA “was a law unto itself.” Oxley, who reportedly worked as an operative for the CIA for 29 years, is alleged to have said he was often used as a hitman on targets deemed to “represent a threat to the interests of the United States.” In a purported interview shared widely online, he admitted having no problem with proceeding with the Bob Marley assassination because “I was a patriot, I believed in the CIA, and I didn’t question the motivation of the agency – I’ve always understood that sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the greater good.” According to the conspiracy theory, Oxley used faked press credentials to gain access to Bob Marley at his Blue Mountain retreat; introducing himself as a famous photographer working for the New York Times, and gave Bob Marley a gift. “I gave him a pair of Converse All Stars. Size 10. When he tried on the right shoe, he screamed out ‘OUUUCH.‘ “That was it. His life was over right there and then. The nail in the shoe was tainted with cancer viruses and bacteria. If it pierced his skin, which it did, it was goodnight nurse.” “There had been a series of high-profile assassinations of counter-culture figures in the United States in the late sixties, early seventies. By the time Bob Marley’s time came around, we thought subtlety was the order of the day. No more bullets and splattered brains.” Mr. Oxley says he kept close contact with Marley during the final years of his life, ensuring the medical advice he received in Paris, London and the United States “would hasten his demise rather than cure him.” “The last time I saw Bob before he died he had removed the dreadlocks, and his weight was dropping like a stone,” he says. “He was very withdrawn, unbelievably small. He was shrinking in front of us. The cancer had done it’s job.” Although widely dismissed as fiction, the account does tally with findings by UK scientists in 2014, who discovered the mysterious acral melanomas – the rare type of skin cancer that caused reggae musician’s demise – was in fact not caused by the sun. Bob Marley’s soon Ziggy has previously implied his Father was killed, saying in a 2013 interview about the death: “I don’t know what to believe … there are a lot of theories.” https://lailasnews.com/i-killed-bob-marley-ex-cia-agent-bill-oxley-confesses/

Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west, has alleged that the Nigerian Police are plotting to kill him. In a series of posts he made via his Twitter handle on Monday, Melaye said the police and Kogi government “want to forcefully take me to Lokoja and kill me afterwards”. The senator has been having a running battle with the police, The Cable reports. Among the cases against him currently pending in court are culpable homicide, gun running and criminal conspiracy. Recently, the senator’s relative raised an alarm he was kidnapped on his way to a court in Kogi regarding one of the cases. In the tweets, the senator described as ludicrous claims the purported kidnap was fabricated. He wrote: “Nigerian police working with Kogi state government in trying to frame me up again with culpable homicide and illegal possession of fire arm. “This is going to be the 6th arraignment of police against me. They want to forcefully take me to Lokoja and kill me afterwards. cc: UN,EU,USA,AU “I was the one attacked by the police, they tried to kill me, AIT reporter and other journalists were there … To turn around and accuse harmless me of lies is rediculous.” He added that those behind his ordeal will be “shocked because I know too much.” https://lailasnews.com/police-plotting-to-kill-me-but-theyll-be-shocked-this-time-dino-melaye/ lalasticlala

The spokesperson to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri in his latest tweet said that no woman is ugly, all what is seen is just her negative circumstance. According to him, Poverty, heartbreak and things like sickness draw out the ugliness in a lady because of her negative circumstance. He also said that when a lady negative circumstance change, you will be amazed at her transformation. And so it is not appropriate to mention that any lady is ugly, all that needs to be done is to change her circumstances. Read his tweet below; “No woman is ugly. What you see as ugliness is just her negative circumstance. Poverty, heartbreak and things like sickness draw out ugliness. When her circumstances change, you will be amazed at her transformation. Never call a woman ugly. It is a circumstantial lie #RenosNuggets.” Reno Omokri, through his regular nuggets, has discussed on most controversial issues relating to relationship between men and women. The activist once stated that any lady that receives money from her boyfriend after sexual encounters, should be regarded as a prostitute. According to him, the act of exchanging money for sex is exclusively reserved for love-peddlers and so women that do same could also be regarded as such. https://lailasnews.com/no-woman-is-ugly-poverty-responsible-for-ugliness-reno-omokri/ lalasticlala

Popular Nigerian cross-dresser, Bobrisky has opened up that he is not gay and does not associate himself with anything that has to do with gay people especially visiting a gay club. In this new interview with Christy Anyanwu of Sunnewsonline, Bobrisky talked about having a girlfriend who is not based in Nigeria and he plans to take her as wife one day. Read excerpts from the interview below: Do you have a girlfriend? Yes, I have a girlfriend and she lives in London. My girlfriend understands the game, I made her understand and told her not to get distracted with what she hears about me. How do you relax? I’m an indoor person, I don’t go out. After my business I stay in my house. What is your favorite fashion accessory? I love jewelry. I wear designer items. I love Gucci and Christian Louboutin, these are the fashion accessories that keep you classy and expensive. What is your wardrobe made of? I don’t have male stuff in my house. I don’t have anything male in my wardrobe. However, I have little men stuff I wear in my house, when I am all alone. Some people find me interesting outside the country. In places like Europe and America, they find me interesting. They love my fashion sense. They tell me I wear my dresses better than females. I did a lot of research on how to crossdress before I dabbled into it. People ask me if I’m a transgender and I tell them there are differences between a crossdresser and a transgender. So, I’m still a crossdresser. So one day you will become a transgender? I will never. Nothing will make me change my gender. Nothing. I have already drafted what I want to be and what I want for myself in life. So these are my secrets. Would Bobrisky have a wife someday? Yes I will. It’s going to be a lavish wedding and I will surprise the world. When would that be? That’s a secret for now. Your girlfriend is in London, won’t that affect the relationship? No. Because I travel to London often. I will be in London in less than five days. You walk like a female, did you learn it? I learnt all that. It’s all part of fashion. When you are into fashion you learn how to catwalk and how to walk on heels and how to behave when you wear native outfits. Some girls don’t even know how to behave when they are in traditional outfit or in Aso-Ebi. They should act like a native or local person in Aso Ebi. But when you are in a classy English attire, you should act expensive and walk expensive. Most girls don’t know about that. I want them to come and learn from me. Later, I will set up a grooming school to educate girls on how to catwalk, makeup and how to compose yourself as a woman. You see, many women act like men. They don’t know how to compose themselves. That’s why their husbands cheat on them a lot because their husbands want a sexy behaviour and comportment. I will teach all these things in my grooming school. What lessons has life taught you as a person? Just be yourself and be who God wants you to be in life; don’t allow anybody to distract you. Though a lot of people insult me and call me names on social media, I just laugh over these things because when they come to where I live, they are dazed, wondering where I get the money to do all these things? The more they insult me the more I make my money. There’s a transgender club/crossdresser club. Do you belong to it? No! Never! I even don’t have a friend. Like I told you, they have different reasons they do their thing, my own reason is totally different, which is to be famous and get my goods sold. You can never see me in gay or transgender clubs. What will I go there to do? You can never see me there because I’m not gay. With all these are you still a Muslim? Yes. But I won’t lie to you, I don’t practice Islam. I know this is wrong to say…. my busy schedule doesn’t give me time to practice the religion. However, I still kneel down before I sleep and talk to my God, thanking God for the day, his provision. It’s the prayer from heart that God prefers not the dramatic ones that you must go to the Mosque to pray. That’s why I founded Bobrisky Foundation. What is your foundation about? It’s about helping people. Helping widows and orphanage. I pay school fees for people because a lot of people helped pay my school fees. When my mother died, I went around my mum’s friends for school fees too and they were there for me. So, when I see people in need of something, I like to help because I have been there before. https://lailasnews.com/you-can-never-see-me-in-a-gay-club-because-am-not-gay-bobrisky/ lalasticlala

Nollywood movies enthusiasts will remember Opemipo Bamgbopa, aka Maradona, who used to be a very famous kid actress back in the days. Having featured in a number of productions including Maradona that earned her the nickname, Ope took a break from acting to pursue her education. Now back on the scene, Opemipo Bamgbopa vowed that her comeback is going to be better and different from the norm. The actress reveals much more in this chat with Damilola Fatunmise Could you tell us briefly about yourself? I am from Epe, Lagos State. I am currently studying Transport Management at Lagos State University. I have featured in a number of productions including One Love, Bororo, and Maradona among others. How would you describe your growing up? My growing up was fun, most of the time I was on set. So, I was mostly multitasking my brain and doing things that were creative. I was almost too busy to have time to play with my peers, but somehow I did. It’s been an interesting journey. How did you come into acting? I came into acting through the influence of my mum. It was not pre-planned because it was one of those days I followed her to auditions, as she has been in the industry before me. So, I was just lucky on one of those days to have been auditioned and interpreted the role well. Alas! I got the big break. How old were you when you started acting? I started acting at the tender age of six. Why were you absent from the screen for a while? I took a break from acting because I had to do some other things, and also go to school. I started acting really early, and life is a process with different stages one has to unavoidably pass through. How would you compare the industry then to the one we have now? Nothing stays forever… some things drastically dropped in terms of morals, but all in all, things have really progressed in the industry. We have improved over time. Have you produced any movie? No, I have not. But I hope to do so soon. It used to be mother and daughter’s game. Why is your mother not acting again? I am an adult now, and my mum is a civil servant with the Lagos State Government. Though, she still advises me and calls me to order whenever I do wrong. Back then, I was much more younger and so the attention and dedication I got back then was needed. What were the challenges you faced at the initial stage of your career? No challenges really. I have a mum who has been in the industry before I became part of it, so it was much easier having her as manager back then. Just that academic-wise I had to double my efforts, reading scripts and attending school. So, it was both challenging and interesting. Do you have actor crush? Yes, I do. It’s American-Indian actor, Akshay Kumar. What kind of man would you settle for? I will settle for a man who is a complete package! A man perfect in his imperfect ways, because there is no perfect human being. A man with dreams and aspirations; intelligent, hard working, focused and of course God fearing. Wealth is not included because having all these guarantees all one can wish for in life. Do you have any regret so far? No regrets, everyone makes mistakes but mistakes make me a better person, not a regretful person. Are you living the life of your dreams? Yes, I am. Nothing makes me happier than having to do all I want to do in life. I am a product of grace. Who is your role model in the industry? My boss, Abiodun Jimoh, who heads Prodigy and Pens Communications, alongside my big sister and rave of the moment, Jumoke Odetola. He is an outstanding producer, director, screenwriter, actor, and I can go on and on. His mentorship and unique ways are evident in the industry, and all of us in the team are distinct because of him. The industry has to watch out for this great man. Has life been treating you well? Life is not a bed of roses. It has its ups and downs. It doesn’t always give us what we want, but it’s left for us to make the best out of our lives. Is Opemipo in any relationship at the moment? I want to make that private for now. What’s your happiest moment? My happiest moment is when my mum gave birth to my kid brother. I named him Morenikeji because I was lonely for so long. So, I have just one sibling. Are you ready for marriage? Marriage is a whole lot of work! And it takes a lot of maturity regardless of age. I see a lot of marriages crash these days and most times the causes are invisible. When it’s time and I see all the signs that I am ready, I will go ahead with it. What turns you on? Bank alerts turn me on. I am a different kind of me. What should we look out for in you? My comeback is going to be a different version of Opemipo. It’s going to be something better and different from the norm. https://lailasnews.com/bank-alerts-turn-me-on-actress-opemipo-bamgbopa/ lalasticlala

A lady in Abuja has busted a Taxify Driver who specialises in tricking his passengers to pay more after their trips. According to the lady, what the Taxi Driver does is to show the passenger a screenshot of a previously saved trip, which definitely will cost more than the current trip and she was certain a lot of people must have fallen for the trick. She wrote: “I requested for Taxify this yesterday morning (21st ), from galadimawa to Karimo in Abuja. I got into the cab, the driver started the trip and we set out. On getting to our destination. I noticed this guy became very uncomfortable as he kept on operating his phone while driving. I snooped successfully and noticed he closed the taxify app, went to the home page, gallery then he scrolled through some pictures in a folder. They were actually screenshots of past trips fare summary. I was shocked. He opened one of the pictures it was N2,400. He then locked his phone with the side button. . His plan was to unlock the phone and voila my trip is N2,400. Trip ended in a few seconds. I smartly told him to enter a gas station, so if he denies what I just saw him do when confronted, I will show him small madness. He quietly parked, I told him to end the trip, he put his phone down after a few seconds he tells me it’s #2,400. I requested for his phone, giving him the excuse that my phone was bad. Dude was shocked. He succumbed, I collected the phone, flipped the page on his screen and saw other taxify trip summaries. I confronted him, he immediately collected his phone, went to the taxify App, ended my trip and it was 1,100. I gave him #1,500 but he didn’t have 400. So he gave me back my #500. I left his car with a leap of joy. Imagine early morning scam. I don’t know how long this has been going on for, but it’s totally wrong. I’ve had quite a number of irregularities with trip summaries on Taxify. I have been oblivious of the schemes of these drivers, but I thank God for this encounter that has exposed them. Please help spread the word. We usually trust the drivers so much that we forget to check our fare summary after every trip on our phones. Stay woke guys.” https://lailasnews.com/lady-busts-taxify-driver-who-tricks-passengers-into-paying-more/

Around 400 gay people in Ghana will reportedly take part in a gay ‘cure’ therapy forum in the country. The attendees, who have all allegedly signed up voluntarily, will receive ‘counselling’ and ‘reformation’ at the anti-gay conference, which has the theme: “Exploring the myths surrounding LGBT rights.” The National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values (NCPHSRFV), which is running the forum, said in April that Prime Minister Theresa May’s pro-LGBT+ speech to Commonwealth leaders was part of a Western plan to reduce the continent’s population. PinkNews reports that the leader, Moses Foh-Amoaning, said that the “400 men and women voluntarily surrendered themselves and registered with the coalition to undergo a sexual evangelism programme recently.” The event will take place in an undisclosed location in the country. Foh-Amoaning then announced plans to open a ‘Holistic Sexual Therapy Unit’ at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra which will also attempt to ‘cure’ queer people of their sexuality, according to the state-owned Daily Graphic. He said that religious leaders and people versed in ‘traditional medicine’ would ‘treat’ people alongside medical staff. He also revealed plans to make the law, which currently criminalises homosexuality with a maximum prison term of three years, force queer people to undergo gay ‘conversion’ therapy. Foh-Amoaning said that “a bill known as ‘Who is on the Lord’s Side’ will then be introduced in Parliament for subsequent passage into law. “We will make our punishment corrective instead of punitive.” The head of the NCPHSRFV has a long history of anti-gay campaigning, having previously insisted gay people shouldn’t have rights and that pro-LGBT+ activism was a form of neocolonialism. Foh-Amoaning has also stated that “the anus was not created for sex” and compared it female genital mutilation. His group campaigns against any political party which supports homosexuality in the country. In 2015, he said that churches would end up being “dominated by homosexuals” if the clergy didn’t stage a “blistering crusade” against homosexuality. The law lecturer said the “dormant posture” of the Ghanaian clergy would see the “houses of God being ruled by evil homosexuals.” Earlier this month, the country’s President Nana Akufo-Addo said he had “no plans” to change the country’s laws on homosexuality. This represented a disappointing shift from the President’s comments last year, when he said that the legalisation of homosexuality in Ghana was “bound to happen” eventually. He rowed back his position in a speech to the 2018 Synod of the Global Evangelical Church, insisting that he would not support such a change in the law. The President said it was “important that we do not debase the principles we purport to uphold.” He added that Ghana’s government has “no authority” to make leaps forward in legislating for LGBT+ equality, “and we will not seek any authority to do so.” https://lailasnews.com/about-400-gay-people-in-ghana-to-be-cured-of-homosexuality/

The police in Kano State have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a middle aged Kano businessman, Abba Aminu. Parading the suspects, the command’s spokesman, SP Magaji Musa Majia, said the corpse of Abba Aminu was discovered behind an uncompleted building in Dambare Quarters, Kano on July 20, 2018. Majia added that: “The family of the deceased reported that he went missing after one of his business partners, Sagiru Lawan, called him at night to purportedly show him a plot of land for sale. That prompted our team of investigators to swing into action in order to unravel the mystery behind late Abba’s death.” One of the suspects, Sagiru Lawan, of Goron Dutse quarters, who reportedly confessed to have committed the crime, said his brother, Naziru Lawan (now at large), had been urging him to mobilise the killers for close to two years, Daily Trust writes. “My brother kept on pushing me to find people who will kill Abba and gave me N150,000 to pay them. So I got them and gave them N130,000,” he said Majia said police investigation further revealed that Naziru was harbouring grudges against the deceased following a row that took them to court and eventually landed Naziru in prison about two years ago. It was gathered that Sagiru eventually thought of one Balele who was once their watchman believing that he could carry out the heinous assignment. Balele reportedly accepted the task and also invited his friend Kabiru Yusuf (a.k.a. Alaramma) from Gwarzo town. Majia said Yusuf was also arrested and confessed that four of them beat the deceased to death, adding that Yusuf said he bought a phone from the said Balele not knowing that it belonged to the deceased. Majia said the two fleeing suspects would soon be arrested while duo in custody would be arraigned before a court. https://lailasnews.com/police-arrest-2-men-over-killing-of-kano-businessman/ lalasticlala

Nollywood actress Liz Anjorin has finally addressed the issue on her fight with Ronke Oshodi-Oke, another actress in the industry. The duo got into a social media war some couple of weeks back and this was after Ronke Oshodi-Oke called out some celebrities for always showing off on social media. The post got Anjorin angry who in turn lashed out at Ronke and calling her all names. However in a new chat with Sunday Scoop, Liz Anjorin opened up on her side of the story; “It is not only in the Yoruba movie industry that women fight one another. If you go to another industry or country, the same thing happens. Wherever women are gathered, there will be evil. Once you see three or five ladies, next thing that comes up is fight and the major cause is always inferiority complex. If you don’t carry them along, they will tag you a bad person. If you carry them along in all you do, they will expose and shame you. As a woman, you have to just settle for one side.” On if the have settled their issue, Anjorin said; She added: “The problem with Nigerians is that we don’t celebrate people. If you want to write bad stories about me, you should celebrate me too. I know you are calling me to talk about my fight with Ronke. If you buy a car and see the need to show it to the public, is that a sin? I don’t have any fight with anyone. It is a message and the person I sent the message to received it. I am not even fighting for only me but others too. At least, we should behave in a way that people will stop seeing Yoruba actors as poor people.” https://lailasnews.com/liz-anjorin-breaks-silence-on-fight-with-ronke-oshodi-oke/ lalasticlala

Nollywood actor, Femi Adebayo, has opend up on the craziest act he has carried out in his profession and that was slapping his dad, Adebayo Salami, while on the set of a movie production. While speaking with Sunday Scoop, he said as an actor, one must be ready to do anything to play unbelievable roles. He stated, “I have been presented with scripts where I had to slap my father on set and I must do it as an actor. He has slapped me on set too countless times. The moment we are acting, I don’t see him as my father anymore; I see him as a colleague and we need to interpret our roles very well. He trained me and he is my boss in the industry. He has taught me not to fear whenever I come across a bigger actor or someone like him on set. But the moment the director says stop, I prostrate to him and apologise.” Similarly, Femi Adebayo said he and his father decided to support Jigan with their viral ‘Sho Mo Age Mi Ni’ skit on Instagram. He said, “Jigan is more like a boy to us. When he came out with the trend, we felt we could do a skit to endorse it. The irony was in asking my biological father if he knew my age.” Adebayo, who recently featured in an English movie, The Island, insisted that he had no regrets being a Yoruba actor. He said: “The only difference between an English and Yoruba movie is the language but the reaction as well as interpretation, most times, are the same. Given another chance, I would still prefer to come into the industry as a Yoruba actor because it has made me know my culture. All my days in school, I was taught a foreign culture and language. Later, I had the opportunity of learning about my culture, which I would not have learnt if I had started as an English actor. Majority of the people who started with English movies don’t have the opportunity I have had.” He, however, admitted that there was no way Yoruba actors would earn more than English actors. Femi Adebayo said: “English is a general language and it is universally accepted, unlike the Yoruba language. We cannot expect a Yoruba movie to have the same audience as an English movie. The majority of Yoruba movies’ fans are Yoruba people. Based on this, English movies make more money because it has a wider market. But I don’t regret being a Yoruba actor. We have many Yoruba actors who are very comfortable and Yoruba actors are better appreciated outside their environment than English actors. We get more accolades from our fans.” https://lailasnews.com/slapping-my-dad-was-the-craziest-thing-ive-done-femi-adebayo/

According to the Commissioner of Police Edgal Imohimi, the police officers sacked numbering eight were dismissed over “very serious criminal offences”. Edgal, also said that 108 officers were disciplined for various offences from January to July, 2018 in the Lagos State Command. He made the disclosure at a Stakeholders’ Forum on “Police Accountability and Presentation of Advocacy Materials at the command’s headquarters, Ikeja. The Police chief said that 58 other officers recorded major entries, six officers reprimanded, 28 officers got warning, four officers had extra fatigue, while five others were discharged for lack of evidences against them. “The days of police officers receiving slaps on the wrist for offences are gone. When you performed excellently well, you will receive a CP’s Commendation Letter. “I am not happy punishing any officer, but that does not mean we should overlook unprofessional conducts. When I resumed as CP Lagos, I discovered that the public had lost confidence in the police. “I set up a Citizen Complaint Hot Centre with 10 mobile phone lines through which people can complain about the wrongs of our men. I have received many complaints. “However, there is no way I would know all that my men are doing if nobody complained,” he said. Edgal called on people in Lagos to continue to assist the police with information and other assistance, stressing that the 28,000 officers and men in Lagos were inadequate to police the state. https://lailasnews.com/8-police-officers-sacked-6-demoted-by-lagos-police-command/

A Landlord on Majekolagbe Street, Ibafo, Ogun State has thrown his family members and loved ones into mourning after killing himself by hanging and then blaming his son for his actions in his suicide note. Punch Metro reports that the 59-year-old had disappeared from the community on Tuesday and had also stopped taking his telephone calls. Concerned residents and members of the community development association were said to have forced the door to his house open and found his body dangling from the rope. The Abeokuta, Ogun State indigene, wrote a note before his death, which was handed over to the police from the Ibafo division. A resident, who sighted the note and spoke on condition of anonymity, said the deceased blamed his son for his suicide. According to him, the note read, ‘(Son’s name withheld), you are the one that put me into this problem, which made me to take my life. 3.35pm.’ He said, “Every day, people usually converged on the frontage of his house to relax. Also, some members of Jehovah’s Witnesses visited him every evening. Around 8pm every day, he went to the house of one of his friends, where he would stay till around 11pm to 12am before returning to his house. “Nobody saw him throughout yesterday (Tuesday) and when they called his mobile phone, he did not pick his calls. His first daughter also called him without a response. That was why people forced his door open and found his corpse in the house. “He hanged himself in his late wife’s room. He left a suicide note. He indicated the time he killed himself. The note has been handed over to the police. What is curious is that some of us still don’t know what the son did to him that made him to kill himself. He did not say what his son did.” Our correspondent, however, heard one of the landlords saying that the deceased had approached him for a loan of N50,000 on Monday. The landlord, who regretted that he could not assist the victim, said he (Majekolagbe) had told him that his son was behind his travail. He said, “Despite the heavy rain on Monday, Baba (Majekolagbe) came to my house. He was at my place for more than two hours. He initially asked if I had a loaf of bread that he could eat, which I told him I did not have. I told him that I had pap. We prepared and took it together. “He then begged me give him a loan of N50,000. I told him that I had just transferred money from my account and there was nothing left. He said his son was at it again and the boy had put himself into another trouble. He sounded really distressed.” The landlord said he heard that the deceased’s son owed some people over N1m, adding that the debt was put on Majekolagbe. A shop where the late wife sold drinks, biscuits and other items, had been taken over by the victim, who continued the trade. A resident said Majekolagbe was in a good mood last Saturday at the shop. “I was at his shop that day and he said he would be marking his 60th birthday on December 27. He said he would celebrate it big time. He gave me a malt drink for free and said the celebration had started,” she said. A woman on the street described the deceased as kind-hearted, adding that his late wife was also hospitable. She said the son, alleged to have been the reason for the suicide, was also a great member of the family before things went awry. She said, “When my family newly moved into this street, we brought a trailer load of property from Lagos. His late wife heard my dialect and upon learning that I came from Ekiti, she became excited. Despite the flood, she waded through the water to help us to move our property into our house. We were so close to the family that my children stayed with them when we had not found a school to put them. Both husband and wife were accommodating and loving. “Even the boy in question used to be a chorister in a Pentecostal church. He was intelligent and assisted my children with their assignments. My children were fond of him. “The man was the first to take ill. The sickness was serious that he became very lean. The wife supported him until he recovered. Suddenly, the woman also took ill. She died from a stroke. After that time, Baba started living alone in the house.” The deceased was not attending any religious house until recently when he joined a local church. Our correspondent, during the visit to the community, observed some Hausa men digging a grave in front of the deceased’s house. Some family members, who entered the house, broke down in tears, while there were occasional arguments and blame-trading on the circumstances surrounding the death. Majekolagbe’s three children were also sighted arriving the house. When our correspondent approached a member of the family for comment, he said the family did not want the incident publicised. The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident, adding that the police had a copy of the suicide note. He said, “The man said his son got him annoyed and he decided to kill himself. He did not say in particular what his son did. He just said he could no longer withstand his son’s behaviour.” https://lailasnews.com/landlord-kills-self-in-ogun-blames-son-for-his-action-in-suicide-note/

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle's dad Thomas Markle set to launch clothing line for men, according to Meghan Markle's half-sister. In what is no doubt another hugely embarrassing blow to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Samantha Markle tweeted the news from her private account on Wednesday. "So excited about my father's new clothing line for men! Will keep you posted," she wrote. The tweet prompted a mixed response from her followers, with one accusing Samantha and her dad of repeatedly cashing in on Meghan and the royals. In a second tweet, she said the ex-Hollywood lighting director should "start his own line of hoodies for older men". Continuing her scathing attacks on Meghan, just hours before she had also tweeted Kensington Palace. "Newsflash! #MeghanMarkle does not wear the pants in the Markle family or the Windsor family," she wrote. "Dad sits at the throne at the top of our family folks!" The Duchess of Sussex and her dad have been estranged for three months - shortly after she married Prince Harry in May. Matters came to a head when Thomas Snr slammed the phone down on Harry during a heated phone call. It came after the 74-year-old staged a series of paparazzi photos for cash days before the nuptials, and missed the ceremony at Windsor Castle due to his poor health. He claimed Harry, 33, called to ask about the photos and berated him as he lay in hospital recovering from a heart attack suffered just days before the May 19 wedding. This was the latest in a stream of “dad disappointments” Meghan is said to have endured since she left home to go to university. https://lailasnews.com/meghan-markles-dad-thomas-markle-set-to-launch-clothing-line-for-men/ lalasticlala

Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari, despite being a man of integrity and impeccable character, he is quite too old to rule the country Nigeria. According to a report by Thisday Newspaper, Tambuwal made the statement while addressing the various associations, students and youths, who paid him solidarity visit in Sokoto, the state capital, the governor admitted that pressure is being mounted on him to declare for presidency. He, however, debunked reports that he is one of the enemies of President Buhari. “We love President Buhari and that was why we supported him in 2015 unconditionally, and while doing that, we are too sure that he will seek re-election after his first term, but when things are wrong we have to tell him. “We still believe in his integrity, patriotism and courage but these are not enough for a leader. “We all know that there is a vacuum in the government occasioned by his disposition probably because of his old age or health condition. That is why Nigerians are yearning for younger ones to lead this country,” he said. The governor alleged that some cabals have hijacked the government and are now discharging the functions and responsibilities of the president. According to him, the country needs somebody who will respect the rule of law and would not be selective in fighting corruption. The governor admitted that pressure is being mounted on him to declare for presidency in 2019. “I have been receiving support and encouragement from our leaders and people across the country, and even from abroad to contest for president, and this pressure is there. “It is not my making but there’s quantum of pressure from everywhere because of leadership gap in the country. In the next few days, I will make my position public on the matter,” he added. https://lailasnews.com/you-are-too-old-to-rule-nigeria-tambuwal-tells-buhari/ lalasticlala

An Accra High Court has sentenced a Ghanaian woman, who conspired with a Nigerian to defraud a US citizen of an unspecified amount of money, to 18 months’ imprisonment. Vida Patty Agboletey, under the fraudulent name of Elizabeth Caldwell and her accomplice, Chigozie Awom, aka Davis Wingate, between 2012 and 2013 duped the US citizen of unspecified amount of money and other materials, including mobile phones, laptops and digital game. Her accomplice was the main architect behind the fraud while the money was lodged into her accounts. The convict and her partner were, however, unable to withdraw the money because the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) froze the account due to the suspicion of fraud and money laundering. Apart from the custodial sentence, the court, presided over by Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, sentenced Agboletey to pay a fine of GHC12,000.00 or in default spend 48 months in jail. EOCO has also been ordered by the court to transmit US$20,000.00 in the convict’s frozen bank account at Fidelity Bank. Awom reportedly met the complainant, who is a flight attendant with US Airways on an online dating site. The two later established a relationship and Awom began to demand items and money from the American. He reportedly asked for money and promised to pay back the money after the completion of a purported project in Ghana. The court, at the end of the trial, found Agboletey guilty of two charges; conspiracy to defraud by false pretenses and money laundering. https://lailasnews.com/ghanaian-lady-with-nigerian-accomplice-jailed-for-18-years-in-ghana/ lalasticlala

The Nigerian police, through the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on Tuesday froze the bank account of a Premium Times journalist Samuel Ogundipe who was recently arrested over 'negative' stories he writes about the force. Accordding to a report by Premium Times, Mr Ogundipe was arrested at about 300 p.m. and driven from the SARS headquarters in Abuja to the IGP Monitoring Unit at Force Headquarters where he was made to write a statement concerning the source of a recent story he wrote. He has declined giving his source as allowed by journalism ethics. Mr Ogundipe’s salary account with Ecobank was frozen in an attempt to frustrate him. One of the police officers handling the investigation, Emmanuel Onyeneho, an inspector, was heard saying they had to freeze the account to incapacitate the reporter. At the Force headquarters, where he was taken, a Deputy Commissioner of Police at the IGP Monitoring Unit, Sani Ahmadu, was heard directing lawyers to “rush to court” to obtain a warrant to detain Mr. Ogundipe. They also repeatedly asked the journalist to disclose his source. Mr Ogundipe has been taken back to the SARS headquarters in Abuja and is currently being detained there. Apart from asking Mr Ogundipe to disclose his source, the police also accused the reporter, who covers the security sector, of publishing mainly negative stories about the police. Mr Onyeneho told Mr Ogundipe that they believe the journalist had written more negative stories than positive stories about the police and they considered that a crime. He said the journalist must disclose all his sources for his stories about the police, something Mr Ogundipe professionally declined. Aside Mr Ogundipe, this newspaper’s editor-in-chief, Musikilu Mojeed, and its education correspondent, Azeezat Adedigba, were also briefly detained and harassed by the police at the SARS headquarters in Abuja. https://lailasnews.com/police-freeze-bank-account-of-detained-premium-times-journalist-samuel-ogundipe/ lalasticlala
