According to him Asamoah Gyan did not know she was still married to another Ghanaian man in Italy. He [Gyan] is now seeking divorce because his wife is still married to the person legally and that he [Gyan] just found out recently.

The Nhyira FM panelist in a video, that has since gone viral, sounded confident about what he claimed, adding further that Gifty left the first husband in Italy when things became difficult and moved to Ghana.

While in Ghana, she changed her name. Gyan who only found out recently sent a delegation to Italy to plead for forgiveness from the man.

It was there that he realized the striking resemblance of his first son to the man in question. He then began to question the paternity of his kids until things exploded.

Mavin Records Singer Korede Bello, has given his opinion on the dating rumour between Tiwa Savage and Wizkid and according to him, it doesn't matter if it's real or not as they duo are adults and are responsible for whatever happens to them.

In a recent chat with a radio station, the Godwin singer said both Tiwa Savage and Wizkid were two consenting adults and there was no need for anyone to get emotional about the video.

He stated:

“I don’t mind the free publicity I get from the video based on association (the same record company) with Tiwa Savage. To be honest with you, they are two consenting adults and they are entertainers. They are in the show business and it doesn’t matter if it (their romance) is real or not.

Bello, who just released two singles, Champion and Bless Me, insisted that he had to take a break from music to re-evaluate his life.

He explained:

“I just took a nap, to be honest. I went into my room and I took a long needed nap. I had been ‘overthinking’ and I needed to clear my head. At some point, I was climbing and happy but didn’t know why I was climbing. I just lost sight of the reason I was doing certain things. I will say I got blinded by the spotlight. When you are in the spotlight, you don’t see anyone else and it is delusional. At times, you have to step out of the spotlight and see people who are watching you.”

He, however, said he had no regrets, insisting that everything that had happened to him was for a reason and as a result of choices he made at certain times.

“There will always be something you would wish you did better, but you cannot change the past. I only look back to motivate myself and I understand that my decision today affects tomorrow,” Bello said.

Speaking on hate comments on social media, he admitted that he always felt bad that people could attack a peaceful person like him.

He said:

“It is a touchy one, but I am optimistic by nature. Human nature is designed in a way that we see negative things quicker than positive things. Of course, there was a time hate comments made me feel terrible.

But now, I just count my blessings and try to appreciate every positive comment. At a time, I didn’t understand why someone would say something bad to me because I am peaceful. No matter how perfect you are, people will always attack you.”

Bello also rubbished claims that he had left Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, saying people only came to such a conclusion because he had been quiet for a while.

The Nigerian Army has been ordered by a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Friday ordered the to pay the sum of N1.25million to Nollywood actress Ebere Ohakwe as compensation after she was beaten up by men of the Nigerian Army in February 2017.

They were also ordered to publish a written apology in at least two national dailies to the actress, Punch Metro reports.

Ohakwe, popularly known as Jewel Infinity, was travelling in a public bus from Port Harcourt, Rivers State to Onitsha, Anambra State when operatives of the Nigerian Army stationed at Omagwa axis of the Port Harcourt Airport Road stopped the vehicle for a routine stop-and-search and, in the process, physically assaulted her.

The Federal High Court presided over by Justice Adamu Mohammed had earlier ruled on the matter in March 2018.

Mohammed had ordered the defendants (Nigerian Army) to pay the sum of N1m to the plaintiff as compensation for infringing on her fundamental human rights.

But the Nigerian Army through its counsel filed an application to the court to set aside the judgment and resume fresh hearing.

Counsel for the plaintiff, Chime Chime, in a counter-application, urged the court to dismiss the defendant’s submission.

Mohammed, however, struck out the application of the Nigerian Army, stating that it lacked merit.

The judge awarded N250,000 against the defendants in addition to N1m the security outfit was expected to pay to the victim, as well as a written apology to her to be published in at least two national dailies.

The Enugu state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Madam Rita Mbah, has allegedly requested that a sum of N5,000 be paid into her Ministry account before a popular event Oja Cultural Festival could be given the certificate to hold in the state.

This is according to a report by a man identified as Charles Ogbu who is one of the organisers of the event. He took to his Facebook page to call out the Commissioner and expose her plot to block the holding of the event.

Charles Ogbu wrote:

I'm actually very ashamed to announce that the biggest obstacle to this year's OJA CULTURAL FESTIVAL seems to be coming from the Enugu state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Madam Rita Mbah

The OJA GROUP has earlier visited the honorable commissioner weekS ago to brief her about the upcoming cultural event as well as seek the support of her ministry but surprisingly, the honorable commissioner became so enraged that the organizers have fixed the date without getting clearance from her.

She insisted they must first register again to get a certificate before they can stage any cultural event in the state and still pay the sum of 5000 to her ministry. (Note: OJA is already registered with CAC and has even won two awards in far away Ghana and South Africa)

Yet, Amarachi Atama and her team complied and went to the designated bank to pay the specified registration fee after paying the other 5k to her ministry. After I hosted the Commissioner on phone via text, she asked her people to refund the 5k which they specifically asked for.

But rather than issue the OJA GROUP with the certificate for the registration money they already paid at the bank, the commissioner insisted they must reveal their sponsors first. Attempts to make her see that the event is being crowd-funded on Facebook fell on deaf ears. I have sent her series of text messages explaining that OJA CULTURAL FESTIVAL is the efforts of patriotic UmuIgbo who simply want to preserve their culture. Yet, she wouldn't bulge.

The OJA GROUP will leave all they have to do to go to her office, spend the whole day waiting and this Commissioner will just come out and drive home leaving them sitting there waiting like a slowpoke.

When they call her, she will claim to have instructed the HOD to issue the certificate but when they go to the HOD, she will deny receiving such instruction from her Boss, the commissioner. This is how this Commissioner has been riding them like Yusuf Buhari's motor bike

All because they volunteered to do a thankless job of promoting Igbo Culture and language, something for which this same woman is receiving salaries and allowances for.

The killing of an ex-minister's daughter Anita Akapson in Abuja triggered an investigation reportedly initiated by the deceased's family and fresh facts have emerged on the circumstances surrounding the killing of the daughter of a former Minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman.

It was learnt that the 31-year-old, who was shot in her 2007 Honda Accord car, allegedly refused to alight when directed by the policeman who killed her on October 13, Punch Metro reports.

After demobilising the car by firing at the tyres, the Superintendent of Police, who shot her, was said to have asked Akapson to come out of the car but she reportedly refused, fearing that she might be harmed.

Sources close to the investigation revealed on Tuesday that the cop insisted that Akapson should step out of her car, but she refused to budge.

“In an attempt to force the door open, the police officer fired at the car door and the bullet went through it, hit Akapson in the stomach and exited into the driver seat,” the source explained while tendering the picture showing the trajectory of the bullet.

The Spokesman, Federal Capital Territory Police, Anjuguri Manzah, declined to comment on the case, saying investigation was still ongoing.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has refuted reports that they have secured an independent investigator to probe the death of their daughter, describing the claim as erroneous.

The lawyer for the family, Kayode Ajulo, said it was untrue that an independent investigator was probing the case, noting that the family expected the police to carry out a thorough investigation into the tragedy and prosecute those involved.

A Nigerian fashion designer identified as Omonigho Aito-Imonah has taken to her Instagram page to call Nigerian socialite Ebuka, who she claimed stole one of the concepts of her original designs in his outfit to the premier of the movie King of Boys.

According to Omonigho, she participated at the GTBank Sketch to Fame Challenge and she could not but wonder how Ebuka's designer could have gotten the inspiration of her concept, if not that he stole after coming across it at the show.

Before taking to Instagram to express her displeasure at Ebuka, she mentioned that she brought the situation to the show host's attention, but he ignored her and even deleted the comment she made on his post.

Jamaican Dance Hall singer Mavado has been called by most of christian fans who accused him of blasphemy after the singer portrayed himself as God in a photo he posted on his social media timeline.

A young man, Kamaludden Bashir, has commenced trekking from Zaria to Abuja for Atiku Abubakar to show his support for the emergence of the former Vice-President as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Bashir, on Tuesday, told newsmen that he plans to reach Abuja within five days

“I am really happy with the victory, that is why I am trekking to Abuja to show him that I am with him 100 per cent.

“Along the way, I will sensitize thousands of youth to join me in the campaign to make Nigeria great under Atiku as president.

“I believe that only him can overcome the problems of unemployment, poverty, insecurity, communal and ethno-religious crisis disturbing the peace and stability of the country.

According to him, he left Kwarbai area of Zaria at 6:30am on Monday after his parents prayed for him.

Bashir believed that Abubakar’s structures all over the country were strong enough to push for his election in February.

“I believe in Atiku, that is why I am trekking in solidarity and praying for him to win the 2019 presidential election.

“I believe he is the best man that can fight corruption and take Nigerian youths to the promised land.”

According to him, he was robbed of his money, food and water along the way, but said the experience would not deter him from continuing with the journey.

Bashir urged Nigerian youths to support the former vice president during the general elections so as to put Nigeria in a better direction.

Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has reacted to the trending rumours that her house was allegedly bought by Governor Ambode.

An unknown writer had sent out a write-up earlier today alleging that the actress was pimped out to the governor and before they could say Jack Robinson, the duo had become an item and lavish lifestyles followed the romance.

The actress took to her Instagram page to debunk the rumours and even claimed that the house is just a tip of the Iceberg and that there is more that the world is yet to see of her.

She wrote:

Dear Bloggers, the mumu upcoming script writer! and association of instablog bad belle, jobless commentators....this house you see in this picture was bought with my hard work and God's grace( not that I owe y'all an explanation)......

Popular social media critic and youth advocate, Japheth Omojuwa has responded to the trending rumours on famous Nigerian celebrities Mercy Aigbe and Toke Makinwa.

Omojuwa came in defence of the women and wondered how Nigerians easily spread false information on other hard-working citizens of the country.

He took to his Instagram page to write:

A society can never advance beyond the collective mentality of its people. Poor societies are poor because their systems are set up to make people poor but essentially because there is a mentality that drives poverty, cultures it and amplifies it.

The same mentality that kills or gets on the way of enterprise. I know these two enterprising ladies. Without knowing them personally, you see them creating businesses and products and getting stuff done. They create products, write, create platforms, movies, sign endorsement deals...their path to wealth is apparent to any rational person.

But ours is a society that suspects progress and wealth. When a young person is rich, even with an apparent value creation system, we ascribe their success to everything other than the fact that they create value and earn income.

These days, we have blogs and sites focused on damaging people’s reputation than pushing progress. You create a product and they look away; someone starts a dirty unfounded rumour and they jump on it. They amplify.

They drop denigrating comments. Some people subconsciously think that the reason their own lives are failing is because others are progressing. We need to do better. When a lady succeeds or starts to shine, we ascribe their success to the rich and powerful. Even some women with powerful platforms either push or amplify this madness. We are disempowering young girls. We are telling them being enterprising is a lie.

That working smart and hard is useless because to succeed you have to be dating a governor. They believe this because of the lies we form and amplify about the successes of those they look up to. We go to church on Sundays, to the Mosque on Fridays, to the Shrine and we pray to succeed. To thrive. We work hard too.

But when we see others succeed, we insist they had sex with someone, they are gay, they are anything but the culmination of their sweat and intellect. Our leaders are mostly bad. Our collective mentality is actually worse.

These are human beings. Young girls making a living. For each time you push this myth that these folks succeed because of some immoral acts with men, remember your daughter, your sister...let’s do better!

The Plateau State chapter of Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), has threatened to withdraw its members from the ongoing military search and rescue operation of the missing general, Muhammed Alkali.

The group also expressed concern over what it described as arbitrary harassment and intimidation of members of public, Premium Times reports.

NUJ made its position in a press statement signed by its chairman and secretary, Paul Jatau and Peter Amine respectively.

“The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council is concerned about the way and manner the Nigeria Army is going about its search for missing Maj. Gen. Idris Alkali (rtd).

“The abitrary harassment, intimidation and arrest of members of the public as part of their search is a thing of worry to the NUJ.

“We recall that at the commencement of the evacuation of water from Dura Du pond in Jos South, the Army told the public that they have credible intelligence that the missing general’s car was in the pond and true to their word, the car was retrieved from the pond.

“We expect them to use the same intelligence they used to locate the car to go after the suspects as they continue the search for Gen. Alkali or his body.

“We are perturbed because innocent people are not spared by the crude method they have employed thereby instilling fear and overheating the polity.

“The Army on Saturday in a statement, assured the public that they will exhibit high level professionalism according to international standard in the search but what is on display contradicts the assurances.

“The same Saturday, a member of our Union, a reporter of the Punch Newspaper was arrested alongside other persons by the army and was detained for 28 hours in Rukuba Barracks as part of the search.

“We wish to state unequivocally that while journalists support the search for the missing senior officer, indeed the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, Plateau State Council will not hesitate in withdrawing its members from covering their activities if the intimidation and harrasment continues,” the statement highlighted.

According to the Punch reporter who was released Monday morning, he and 36 others were, on Sunday, arrested at Anne Breeze Restaurant, Rayfied area of Jos South Local Government Area of the state, where he went to buy food.

“I came back last night after spending about 28 hours behind bars over the Jos missing Gen. Mohammed Idris Alkali (retd). We were 28 men and 9 women (37).

“I went to buy food by 9:00 p.m. on Saturday (curfew starts by 10:00) at a popular Anne Breeze Restaurant when soldiers in two lorry trucks (about 30 of them) swooped on the place, shot indiscriminately at sight and arrested every human being they sighted.

“Even my identification that I’m a journalist didn’t help matters. Twenty-eight of us were kept in an uncompleted building and I had no access to my family, editors and colleagues because they took our phones,” the reporter narrated.

When contacted on the matter, deputy director, army public relations, Kayode Ogunsanya, said the journalist was found in a wrong place, though he did not specifically provide the name of the place.

“The journalist was found at a wrong place at the wrong time. When l recognised him on my own, he was later released. He spent less that 20hrs, as against 28hrs he claimed,” Mr Ogunsanya said.

Mr Alkali was declared missing on September 3, when he was traveling from Abuja to Bauchi.

After a few weeks, the army received intelligence that the general’s body or car was in the pond.

The draining of water from the pond was earlier protested by the women of the community who appeared in black, claiming that the pond has ancestral inclination.

Their protest was unsuccessful.

The car of the missing general and two others cars were found.

A blood-stained T-Shirt and a boxer short, believed to belong to the general, were also found in the car on a Saturday evening by a combined security team.

On Wednesday, the army in the early hours of that day, cordoned off the community and arrested 30 suspects in connection to the missing general but promised not to take any military action on the community.

The army on Friday, dismissed the rumour that two corpses were discovered in the pond.

In India, a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus driver’s name has been struck off the roster after a video of him allowing a monkey drive a bus went viral across the country.

In the video, Prakash, is seen driving with a monkey sitting on the steering wheel. Although he didn't give the monkey the full control of the bus, but his action was considered out of the line by many who saw the video.

The incident took place on October 1 in a bus plying Davanagere to Bharamasagara. According to a KSRTC official, the driver was not the owner of the monkey, but it was owned by one of his passengers.

“The monkey came boarded the bus with its owner. But it went and plonked itself on the driver’s seat and refused to leave despite efforts by passengers to remove it from there. He (Prakash) is an animal lover, but he should not have allowed this while driving a bus.” the official said.

The Man

A man identified as Mide who went viral few days ago for returning N600,000 that was mistakenly paid into his account, is now in trouble with the sender who claimed he exposed his identity to the public.

Mide has posted a screenshot of the conversation he had with the sender's wife and carefully blotting out the details of the sender.

But the sender is now threatening legal action despite the kind gesture showed by the man who refunded his money.

He wrote:

Here is the conversation between the owner of the 600k and myself. He is accusing me of revealing his details- phone number and account number which I carefully blotted out in the first picture that went viral.

The image showing on the chat is so invisible as to be connected to anybody dead or alive. I did inform the wife but there was no response from her. I still don’t regret my actions of refunding the money. How UNGRATEFUL a living being could be. I was going to let this saga die down but the fact that he’s threatening me with the law for doing the right thing.

Two men have been arrested by the Edo State Police Command for robbing a policeman and dispossessing him of his service pistol in the Oredo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were alleged to be members of a five-man gang who specialised in unleashing terror on unsuspecting residents of Siluko, Iriri and Ekenhuan axis of the state capital.

Southern City News gathered on Friday that the suspected robbers had accosted the policeman in Oliha, Oredo Local Government Area of the state, and ordered him out of his vehicle.

It was learnt that on sensing danger, the plain-clothe security officer, was said to have attempted to use his service pistol, but was overpowered by the gang.

The robbers allegedly made away with the gun.

But two of them, identified as Emmanuel Oghenevo and Kelvin Aroiwa, were later arrested following a tip-off.

Oghenevo, who claimed to be a driver from the Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, said that the gang was surprised when their victim brandished a gun as they were ignorant of his identity.

He explained:

“One of us, called I. Y., collected the pistol from the policeman and hit him on the head. As the policeman was coming out of his vehicle, he brought out his gun to shoot us.

“We did not know that he was a security operative. As he brought out his gun, I. Y. dodged and pushed him. Another member of our group, Emma, pinned his hand and took the gun.”

The suspect, however, alleged that he was pushed into crime by poverty and the hardship he was going through.

“I started robbing early this year. But I have not killed anyone. My family was suffering and there was no other way to feed. So, I decided to join the gang.

“I am not happy about my arrest and I advise those involved in crime to desist from it. If I am forgiven, I will leave robbery and join the police,” he said.

But Aroiwa, who claimed to have been under the influence of alcohol when the crime was committed, told Southern City News that he was arrested by policemen at his hideout in the Aduwawa area of the Benin metropolis.

The native from Odighi community in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the state, said:

“We were at Ring Road (in Benin) when one of us told us to go to Oliha. I told them that I was drunk and would not be able to go.

“But they insisted. So, I followed them. I did not even know when we got to Oliha. To say the truth, I did not even know when they collected the gun from him (policeman).

He added:

“As we were driving out, they woke me up angrily and told me that they had collected a pistol. We later went to Ekenhuan road where we robbed another man. I was at Aduwawa smoking when the police arrested me and took me to a police station.”

However, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, assured that the suspects would be arraigned in court at the end of the investigation.

A British music professor, John Collins, has said mentioned that the popular Highlife music genre did not originate from Nigeria and so Nigerians can not lay claim to it.

Collins, who was reacting to a claim by Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Jupitar, that “Highlife is not Ghanaian music”, said the comment was not accurate, reports Myjoyonline.

On a radio show, the UK-born professor, who has lived in Ghana since 1969 said:

“Highlife is not Ashanti. It was originally Fanti and Ga and then, he [Jupitar] said it wasn’t Ghanaian. At the moment, Nigerians are trying to claim highlife, so he should be careful about saying that.

“The word itself was invented in Ghana in the 1920s but what we call highlife goes back maybe 20 or 30 years earlier”, the music scholar with the University of Ghana said.

Giving an extensive history on highlife, Prof John Collins noted that in 1938, highlife was taken out of Ghana to Nigeria by the Cape Coast Sugar Babies and then in the 1950s by E.T Mensah.

“When I first used to go to Nigeria in the 1970s, all the older generation knew that highlife came from Ghana. It’s the younger generation on both sides, who seem to have forgotten where it comes from,” he explained.

Nairabet owner Akin Alabi has won the All Progressives Congress House of Representative ticket for Egbeda/Ona Ara federal constituency.

He clinched an automatic ticket after other contenders stepped down for him.

“I have just been declared the winner of the primary election after the other contestants, Hon Jenrade, Hon Adewale Ishola and Hon Adio all stepped down for me,” Alabi tweeted on Thursday.

The Nairabet owner had in 2015 contested for the Egbeda-Ona Ara seat of the House of Representatives’ election under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, but lost.

He had earlier resigned from the sports betting company to enable him to concentrate on his political ambition ahead of 2019. But maintained that if he loses he is always welcome back into his office at anytime.

“In a few weeks, I will be resigning as CEO of NairaBET so I can fully concentrate on my campaign to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.

“If I lose, my seat will be waiting for me at the head office. Politics is not a do or die affair,” he said.
