CelebritiesKirk Franklin Reveals His Sister Has Been Sentenced To 30 Years In Jail by EmagNig(op): 9:00am On Jun 17, 2018
Award winning gospel musician,Kirk Franklin has revealed his sister has been sentenced to 30 years in jail.

According to him,he wonders what he could have done better to help her. In 2015, he spoke about his crack-addicted sister, saying

“For over ten years, my younger sister was incarcerated in a facility here in Texas. She was in love with a young man who was [a] drug dealer. He introduced her to not only selling drugs, but using as well,”

“When he was arrested for drug trafficking, she was arrested along with him.”

Once being released, Franklin said, his sister fell right back into that destructive lifestyle.

“She quickly started using again, becoming very reckless with her body, which turned into her using it as a means to pay for her habit.”

He did not say why she was jailed again.

After announcing the sad news on his Instagram page, some of his fans wondered why she could have been sentenced that long over a drug-related offence.

A fan wrote:

The average sentence for manslaughter is 2 to 12 years and the average sentence for second-degree murder is 10 to 25 years so how exactly does one get 30 years for abusing or selling drugs especially when people are falling out all over the streets in light of this opioid epidemic

Sometimes it isn't hatred, it is preference for certain reasons. Some love simple colors while some love color riots. My favorite color for shirts and native wears is white while I don't like white shoes and wristwatch. For some reasons I find everything that Gucci designs as ugly. Even if I can't afford their designs (at least for now) I won't exchange their designs for my simple tee shirts and suit even if you dash me. Even Gucci sneakers are ugly to me. I still prefer those simple designed Adidas or Nike sneakers and running shoes.

PoliticsWe’ll Fence Nigeria, Change Name, Currency After Defeating Buhari - JMPP by EmagNig(op): 7:41pm On Jun 14, 2018
The Justice Must Prevail Party, JMPP have stated that if they are elected into power in 2019, the party would construct perimeter fence around Nigeria, change the name of the country and the currency.

Acting National Chairman of the Party, Dr Olusegun Ijagbemi, stated this at a news conference in Abuja, DailyPost reports.

He said that the need to change the name of the country and its currency was divinely revealed to the leadership of the party, adding that the changes were important if Nigeria must make progress.

According to Ijagbemi

“the 14th pillar of our party is to change the name of Nigeria to Pisonia and its currency from Naira to Pison.

“It is a miracle that the leadership of this party got a wind of how the entire African nation is being impoverished with their currency.”

“There are people outside Nigeria printing our currency and they have agents among us, including our political leaders.

“They are printing money and they have agents in CBN and throughout Africa. We brought this information to Nigeria that they are destroying our economy,’’ he said.

The chairman added that about six months ago, the CBN revealed to the National Assembly that more than 20 per cent of Nigeria’s currency was fake.

Ijagbemi said that promoting citizens’ welfare and security of lives and property would be one of the major concerns of the party, if elected.

He said that the party would use technology to monitor the country’s borders and that security forces would be highly motivated.

“This party is going to fence Nigeria and create only regulated route for people to come in and go out of the country.

“You can no longer move boys or girls across the border with trailer and then say you have captured or recovered them.

“There will be no need for people sleeping with their hearts panting. You cannot just come into the country, invade it and steal our oil.’’

Ijagbemi stated that JMPP government would strengthen the immigration laws, and that border control would be exercised maximally.

He said that citizenship laws would also be reviewed to meet the exigencies of current happenings in the world.

Ijagbemi decried the level of unemployment in the country, saying it was unacceptable, “considering the fact that the nation was reputed as one of the richest in the world in human and natural resources’’.

To address the challenge, he said that JMPP would equip Technical Colleges and Polytechnics to provide high-level manpower to form the backbone of technological and industrial development.

“The party will also encourage the formation of new industries in line with modern technological trends using the products of the revamped technical schools and polytechnics.

“Skills development centres will be established in all local government councils of the country,” he stated,

SportsWorld Cup: Russians Are Being Taught How To Smile In Welcoming Tourists by EmagNig(op): 9:45am On Jun 14, 2018
https://lailasnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/World-Cup-Russians-are-being-taught-how-to-smile-in-welcoming-tourists-lailasnews-2.jpg

Workers in Russia are being taught how to smile in a bid to be more welcoming to tourists during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off today.

According to the BBC, Russians do not smile as much as other Europeans. An article in The Atlantic attempts to explain why when it loosely translates a Russian proverb: "Laughing for no reason is a sign of stupidity."

However, there's now a reason to smile as Russian news agency Tass claims that 1.5 million foreign tourists are expected in Russia during the World Cup. To prepare for all the tourists, workers in key companies like FIFA, Russian Railways, and Moscow Metro are all undergoing unique training.

The BBC says the world governing body for football and the two Russian transport firms are teaching staff how to smile.

The report says that "Russian train conductors are being taught how to smile at foreigners," in an effort to tackle the stereotype that its people are unfriendly.

The classes include “laughter yoga” in which workers practice being lighthearted, friendly and goofy, according to the station.

It’s simply not part of Russian culture to smile as much as other Europeans, said participants such as Yulia Melamed.

“It’s strange for a person to walk down the street and smile. It looks alien and suspicious,” Melamed said.

She was once stopped by a police officer simply for grinning, she said.

But Russians hope to kick their image as cold and stand-offish — at least temporarily — before the World Cup kicks off on Thursday.

Roughly 1.5 million foreign tourists are expected to visit Russia during the international event.

CelebritiesI’m Still Learning How To Dance Shaku Shaku - Alex Iwobi by EmagNig(op): 7:43am On Jun 14, 2018
Super Eagles player Alex Iwobi, has opened up on his ability to do the popular dance step Shaku Shaku and according to him, he is yet to master the dance which seems to be the rave of the moment.

He mentioned this while answering some fun questions in a short BBC Africa video.

Excerpts from the chat below:

Special goal

My goal for Nigeria versus Zambia (Iwobi scored the winner against Zambia in Uyo, the goal that sealed the Super Eagles Russia 2018 World Cup ticket).

Favourite boy band

Kelechi (Iheanacho) has some low-key songs. I’d probably have (Ikechukwu) Ezenwa on the chorus or something like that.

Favourite Okocha goal

It has to be against Middlesbrough. He bent it in. I was with dad that day and it was amazing.

Best dressed: you or Aubameyang?

I believe I’m the best dressed. He’s a bit too flash. I don’t really like too much flash.

Weirdest item from camp mate

Kelechi actually brought a microwave when we were in London, of all things. But I found it useful because he was in my room and we could warm up our food.

Barcelona or Real Madrid on FIFA 18

Barcelona.

Best and worst roommates

Both have to be Kelechi. He has this tendency to be late and I don’t like to leave him behind because we’re roommates and I feel we’re in this together. But at the same time he’s fun, he’s always enjoyment. He’s the best and the worst at the same time.

Most difficult dance move

ShakuShaku. I’m still learning it and I have to learn it before the World Cup by force. I’m still learning the footwork.

CrimeI Only Inserted My Finger - Man Accused Of Defiling 15 Year Old Girl by EmagNig(op): 7:16am On Jun 14, 2018
A man identified as Emmanuel Okorie, who was accused of allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 15 year old sister, has denied the allegation with the claim that he was made to sign a statement under duress.

The defendant, who is standing trial on a count charge before a Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere yesterday, told the court that he did not defile the victim.

Okorie, who was testifying before Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye on trial-within-trial, said:

“I put my hand in her vagina and when I noticed that she was a virgin, I let her go. I didn’t sleep with her, because I didn’t want to injure her.”.

He said the incident occurred at his elder sister’s house in Ejigbo area of Lagos. The defendant, who was led in trial-within-trial by his counsel, Mr. Worer Obuagbaka, also said that he neither made any confessional statement nor told his investigative police officer, IPO, that he had sex with the victim.

His words:

“This statement you are seeing was not written by me. I was not given any paper to write. I was inside the cell when a man nicked named Sean Paul came and brought me out to where the IPO was. “

The next thing he did was to slap me and then I saw Inspector Amina Adeoye with an envelope and I was asked to sign.

“When I asked to read the statement, Sean Paul hit me on my forehead and I started bleeding. I did not read the statement, I signed under duress.”

Prosecutor Earlier, Lagos State prosecutor, Mr. Akin George, had called the third prosecution witness, Inspector Amina Adeoye, who narrated how she recorded the defendant’s statement. She said:

“On December 1, 2015, a case of defilement was transferred from Ejigbo Police Station to State Criminal Intelligence Investigation Department SCIID, Panti, Yaba, and the victim that was defiled was 15 years old then.

“After the case was transferred, I took the statement of the victim. Thereafter, I cautioned the defendant in English Language, then recorded his statement. “.

After the defendant’s statement had been taken, we had to refer the victim to Mirabel Centre at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, where she was treated and the report was sent to our office.”

She also told the court that she read the statement Okorie made at Ejigbo, where he denied committing the offence, adding that she did not force him to sign the statement.

According to her, “he wrote the statement that the girl and her friend were actually coming back from school when the incident occurred.”

FamilyGrandmother Caught Transporting Children In Dog Kennels - Video by EmagNig(op): 1:57pm On Jun 11, 2018
A 62 year old grandmother, Leimome Cheeks, has been arrested after she was captured on camera transporting her grandchildren in dog kennels in the back of her vehicle.

She has been charged with two counts of child endangerment after the children, aged seven and eight, were released.

According to the police in Memphis, a city located along the US Mississippi River, the video was shared online showing the two children getting out of pet kennels in the 3700 block of Elvis Presley Blvd Saturday evening.

“There were no air conditioning vents in the back of the vehicle and the children became hot.”

Temperatures in the area reached around 35°C.

A police report said that the children said they were told to get into the kennels because there wasn’t enough room for them to sit in the main part of the vehicle.

However, a local news source WREG reported that neighbours know Cheeks to be a wonderful woman and was unlikely to let the children go through that situation.

One of them, Skylark Blake, said:

“Cheeks is a ‘nice lady’ adding that he ‘can’t see her doing that’.”

“I think she needs some help. Something is going on with her. If she did that, then that’s out of character for her,” Eugene Richmond said.

Cheeks was being held Sunday in the Shelby County Jail.

EducationUniversity Of Ibadan Pardons Expelled Student Over Social Media Rant by EmagNig(op): 1:38pm On Jun 11, 2018
The University of Ibadan has recalled a 100 level student, Kingsley Chinemerem Anyanwu, of the Geology Department who was expelled during the 2015/16 academic session.

Kingsley Chinemerem Anyanwu was expelled for embarrassing the university and calling the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka various unprintable names on social media has been pardoned and readmitted.

He was expelled during the 2016/17 session for gross misconduct after facing Student Disciplinary Committee and found guilty.

However, following a contrition on the part of the student, the Vice Chancellor according to his Media Assistant, Sunday Saanu in a Facebook post graciously forwarded his case to the Council for reconsideration and forgiveness where Anyanwu was told to go and sin no more.

He has since been allowed to resume his studies with effect from the beginning of this current 2017/18 academic session .

Speaking on the development recently, the VC, Prof. Olayinka asserted that his administration was not ready to jeopardize the future of any student by expulsion, but added “yet, we have the responsibilities to instill character and learning in them”

“We are in loco parentis expected to process them for the ultimate use of the society. A 100 level student is still raw and green. We take some of these insult and embarrassment in our stride in order to ensure that they have a rosy future. But we will not hesitate to wield a big stick for anyone considered to be incorrigible because the certificate going out from UI must be based on sound character and learning ” said the VC.
However, the Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, warned that the fact that his administration was lenient shouldn’t embolden any student to be rude, pointing out that a 400 level student in Anyanwu’s situation may not have been so lucky because that is considered a mature level.

Two Nigerian men have been arrested by detectives on suspicion of impersonating some of Kenya’s top leaders, including the First lady Margaret Kenyatta, in bid to swindle citizens of the country.

Police claim many Kenyans have fallen prey to the suspected fraudsters, Timothy Ogba Ebakole and Alex Olusegun Adebayo.

The suspects allegedly impersonated the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Kilifi Senator Steward Madzayo and his Bomet counterpart Christopher Langat on Facebook.

Kilifi Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer, Christopher Chesoli, said his team tracked the two suspects to Kayole in Nairobi after they got tips on their nefarious activities from the victims they have swindled.

According to him, they almost shot him if not for the intervention of the people around the location and without any incriminating exhibit, the SARS operatives allegedly deflated their tyres and labelled them Yahoo boys

He wrote:

It’s really funny how every young boy out there is assumed a yahoo boy smh.. My experience today though !
.
So I was driving today with my sister at ajah junction wen sars officials stopped us , funny enough they initially allowed us to pass o,just when they saw me at the passenger's sit they quickly stopped us probably thinking I was a yahoo boy and my sister had already passed because one of the officers already said she should go.
.
so when the other officer said she should stop because he saw me she refused and zoomed off because we already passed the junction and one of the officers already told us to go ,as we were driving thinking it was all over just for us to see them with their corolla chasing us like criminals.

I then told my sister to stop I went down and confronted them and asked why they were chasing us like criminals and one of them said if I talk he was going to slap me,I said why would you slap me what's the problem and they started tagging us "criminals" while the other one said i'm a "yahoo boy" on the process of trying to talk to them one went straight to my sister's tyre and started lessing the tyres and even threatened to shoot at us.
.
in the process of stopping them they cracked gun at me if not for people around they probably would have shot at me and immediately they ran off after people came out and started screaming at them , please I'm calling on the @nigeriapoliceforce to look into this....it's no longer a funny matter , not all young guys out there are fraudsters or yahooboys ! CelebritiesWhy I Offered Up Coming Actress Movie Role - IK Ogbonna by EmagNig(op): 8:24am On Jun 10, 2018
Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has shed more light on the reason why he offered an up coming actress a role in his forthcoming movie.

If you recollect, a certain actress identified as Cynthia Agu, was in the news recently when she lamented that she had attended a lot of auditions where she was promised roles but never got them. The actress wondered why film-makers sometimes called for auditions when they would end up using only known faces in their movies.

Shortly after she made this post, IK Ogbonna reached out to her and offered her a role in his forthcoming movie.

However, some people felt he offered the role to attract cheap publicity. In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Ogbonna explained why he decided to help her.

He said:

“I modelled for a very long time before I started acting and I know the type of hustle that comes with auditions. I went for a lot of auditions and there were times that I wasn’t picked. I understood her point of view when she said that sometimes, it seems like you’d be offered the job, and then you don’t get the final call back.

I know that for her to have been picked initially means she has some sort of talent. I cannot help everybody but I try to assist as many people as I can. I saw her for the first time when she made that post. The reality of life is that if you don’t bring yourself out there, nobody would see you. I sent her a message on Instagram and she responded.

She is going to appear in my next movie and if any other job that I can recommend her for comes up, I would do that.”
Reacting to insinuations that he offered the actress a movie role to cash in on the publicity that trailed her post, Ogbonna said:

“I already have free publicity because of what I do. I usually act three movies in a month; sometimes four. I don’t see the need for publicity stunts. It wasn’t even as if I made a post about it; I just made a comment on her post.”
On how it feels being judged publicly for every action he takes, IK said:

“In life, you are judged by every single thing you do; whether good or bad. There are people who see the good in what you do and celebrate you. I don’t care what people say. I have a positive mindset and if you come to me with positivity, I would embrace you. If you come to me with negativity, I would pray for you to get positive. I am not seeking anyone’s validation.”
Speaking on his forthcoming movies, the actor and producer said:

“I would be producing two movies in October and November. One of them is titled Left or Right, while the other one is, The Thief in You. Cynthia Agu would feature in The Thief in You and she would be playing the role of a friend to my character’s wife, which would be acted by Nadia Buari.

At the end of the day, I can only give her a role and recommend her to producers but she has to project her talent herself. If she impresses me, she would also appear in my second movie.”
On how he intends to fund his movie production, the Excess Luggage actor said:

“I invest my money wisely; I don’t believe in spending stupidly. One of the things I invest in is movie production. This year, I have been very busy travelling; so, I have not had time to work on my personal project but I want to wrap up the year with my own works.”

CelebritiesWe Didn’t Control Nina During Interview - Management by EmagNig(op): 7:22am On Jun 10, 2018
The management team of former Big Brother Naija housemate, Nina Oyenobi, has debunked the allegation made by a media outfit on them making an attempt to control the star during her interview with them.

A member of the management team, who spoke to Sunday Scoop on condition of anonymity, said they had informed the interviewer earlier that they didn’t want questions on her sexual intercourse or relationship with Miracle during the Big Brother Naija reality show.

The source said:

“We have been managing Nina since she left the reality show. Before the interview commenced, we told them not to ask Nina questions on sex and they agreed to that. But the lady, who interviewed her, kept asking questions on her relationship with Miracle and she became uncomfortable.

Though Nina was ready to reply the questions, we had to give her signs on what to say and they became angry. We did not control her as claimed; we just wanted to control what they put out since she is our client.”
On why Nina did not react to the viral report, the source added:

“When the story came out, we told her to ignore it. Our focus is on bigger projects; so, we don’t need such distraction. She granted an interview with another television station almost at the same time and there were no issues. The online media is just looking for relevance.”

CelebritiesMan Narrates How LASEMA Official Saved Him From Thugs In Lagos by EmagNig(op): 6:37pm On Jun 07, 2018
A man identified as Tolulope T. Toluwalase has taken to Facebook to narrate on how he was saved by a Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA official from touts who wanted to exploit him after his car had a break down on 3rd Mainland Bridge.

According to the man, he was surprised at the quick response of the agent after his wife made contact with them through the social media.

Read what he wrote below:

#HonourableNigerians

I think it was the Speaker of the House of Representatives who recently told President Muhammadu Buhari at the commissioning of the EFCC HQ in Abuja that there were several incorruptible Nigerians all over the world. Here is an example of a decent and honest Nigerian, a LASEMA official, as shared in this copied post. Government should commend and reward acts like this immediately to encourage others. The French President, Emmanuel Macron immediately honoured Malian migrant 'Siderman' Mamoudou Gassama with the medal for courage for climbing a Paris city apartment block to save the life of a dangling 4-year old.

THE POST
Was dashing out of Lagos to meetup a 4:00 p.m speaking engagement at Osogbo - Osun State.

At about 11a.m, with the early morning rain still pouring down, i negotiated Osborne/Foreshore Road-Ikoyi inward 3rd mainland Bridge. Suddenly my car tyres hit some metal shrapnel hidden underneath the flood on the lanes. A little movement towards Adeniji/Adekunle and Gboa!! Two tyres went FLAT.

Getting stuck on #3MB is not an experience you wish for. Before i could blink - #ALAYE's (3 Area Boys/Street Urchins) from Adeniji Adele were already jogging towards me.

They started demanding #OwoILe. 20K!!!!!!.....I'm like - can you sight any ATM machine in the car? Trust the Area Boy instinct in an average Lagosian, i started wording them. They started getting unruly and i was calculating my next moves incase they try getting physical. Their chairmen were calling from under the bridge for updates and they were like....Bobo yi o cooperate o (He's not cooperating o).

Network was horrible and when my phone could find a bar, i quickly called my wife to call #LASEMA ( @lasemasocial )and my mechanic to get tyres and meet me up.

In less than 5 minutes and i'm not kidding, this #LASEMA Agent - MR OWOLABI OLAWALE JUBRIL rode in on his bike. He already envisaged the situation and notified a Government Patrol convoy on his way coming. At their arrival ALL THE BOYS TOOK TO THEIR HEELS.

He took charge - Setup Cone barriers on the road to condone off other motorist in the rain till my mechanic joined me, approximately in about an hour.

After we were done, i requested to give him some cash as appreciation, HE DECLINED. Requested for his account details - HE DECLINED. Just said I AM DOING MY JOB. He only permitted me to take his pictures and i codedly snapped his bike plate number. I was not only impressed, I was DAZED.

This post is to celebrate MR OWOLABI OLAWALE JUBRIL ( Facebook - OlawaleowolabBike Number - LRU- 008 LA) for being such a RARE Nigerian and to LASEMA (@lasemasocial ) for such amazing, timely and Speedy response.

You only get to experience such social service abroad but right here in @akinwunmiambode 's LAGOS, it is HAPPENING.

CrimeRe: Man Stoned To Death By His Neighbours In Ogun State by EmagNig(op): 6:59am On Jun 07, 2018
CrimeMan Stoned To Death By His Neighbours In Ogun State by EmagNig(op): 6:59am On Jun 07, 2018
A man has been stoned to death by his neighbours at his residence at Ota-Idiroko, in the Ota area of Ogun State.

The man identified as Peter Ayole was allegedly pelted with rocks when he reportedly complained of the fumes emanating from the generator set of his neighbour, Punch Metro reports.

The 52-year-old was said to be an auditor at the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, Abakaliki, Ebonyi.

The victim, who was said to be on leave, had reportedly decided to spend the leave with his wife and children at their house in the Ota area.

His widow, Oluwafunmilayo Ayole, explained that the incident happened on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.

She said:

“We were together at home that morning when he said he was going to our site to see how the plumbers were doing. We had had some people coming to ask us that they needed rooms for rent.

“Not up to 30 minutes after he left, I got a call that my husband had fallen after he was stoned. The site is just a stone’s throw from our house, so I got there in no time. I saw that he had been laid on a plank, lifeless. I asked what happened and I was told that he was stoned by some people who sold confectionary beside the construction site.

“I learnt that when he arrived there, he met the plumbers idle. The plumbers told him they could not work because of the fumes from the generator of the neighbours who were selling confectionary. My husband had complained to me several times about them before and all his appeals to them to shift their generator house were abortive.

“So, he picked a stick and climbed three blocks beside the toilet under construction. He started hitting the roof of their building with the stick and calling them to turn off their generator.”

She explained that one of those in the building made a snide remark about the chartered accountant, telling him to stop disturbing their peace.

The late Peter reportedly became aggravated when he was called a “mad man” and threatened to continue hitting the roof.

“My husband continued hitting the roof when someone stoned him with something like a grinding stone, which hit him in the head. He fell and became unconscious.

“The workers at the site took him to a private facility in the area where he was confirmed dead. He was subsequently brought back to the site.

“We took him to another private hospital, where the doctor did not even allow us to bring him in before confirming him dead. But he said we could still keep him in an airy place to see if he would regain consciousness.

“By evening, we took him to the last hospital where he was again confirmed dead. By this time, blood had started flowing out from his nostrils and mouth,” she added.

Oluwafunmilayo told our correspondent that before her husband was taken to a mortuary, some policemen from the Onipanu division visited the site, saying they had come to arrest the late Peter for disturbing the peace of the suspects.

She explained that the policemen, on discovering that Peter was dead, demanded that she follow them to make a statement at the station.

“I was weeping and pulling my husband’s legs and head for him to wake up when the policemen arrived and said they had a complaint against him.

“Obviously, those people after seeing the damage they had caused, went to report to the police as a cover-up. One of the men with me later volunteered to make a statement on my behalf at the division,” she said.

Our correspondent learnt that the late Peter, a certified information systems auditor, was survived by seven children.

His elder brother, Isiaka Ayole, a police officer attached to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, Lagos, described the deceased as “highly intelligent.”

Isiaka said only justice would assuage the pain of the family.

He said:

“When I went to the police station, the Divisional Crime Officer told me my brother killed himself. But we checked the statements of the witnesses and they said he was stoned. All I want is justice for my brother,” he added.

Our correspondent gathered that five suspects were arrested by the police for Peter’s death.

The suspects – Morenike Akinleye (43), Ajah Chijioke (46), Sulaimon Akinleye (30), Bose Adebesin (24) and Nurudeen Adekunbi (20) – were later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

They were arraigned on Wednesday before an Ota Magistrate’s Court on two counts of manslaughter.

The charge read,

“That you, Morenike Akinleye, Ajah Chijioke, Sulaimon Akinleye, Bose Adebesin and Nurudeen Adekunbi, on May 23, 2018, around 12.30pm at Km 6, Ota-Idiroko Road, Ota, Ogun State, in the Ota Magisterial District, did unlawfully conspire together to commit felony, to wit: manslaughter, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006.

“That you did unlawfully cause the death of one Peter Ayole, aged 52, by stoning him with stones, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 325 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006.”

While the defence counsel moved the application for their bail, the prosecutor asked that they be remanded in custody.

The magistrate, J.A. Akan, remanded the defendants in prison and adjourned the case till July 9, 2018.

HealthAppointments With Doctor In LASUTH Takes Months: Lady Recounts Graphic Experienc by EmagNig(op): 6:41am On Jun 07, 2018
A Nigerian caterer identified as Omolade Adebisi Abiara took to her Instagram page to recount a sad experience she had at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH.

According to her, the hospital, irrespective of the severity of a patient's case, usually schedules months before the patient could book an appointment with a doctor.

She also gave the illustration of a woman who needed emergency attention as she suffers from a serious ailment she has been battling with for years. But it was quite appalling as the medical personnel over there asked her to come back in November to see a doctor.

Read her narration:

So I was at Lagos University teaching hospital Ikeja #lasuth yesterday after being referred from Isolo general hospital for medical attention on my daughter's ear, I got to the hsp few minutes past 6am and I was called exactly 11.30am,only for the admin to write on my referral letter that my appointment to see the doctors is November!!!! 6months from nowhuh

I was very SURPRISED I was practically begging them that at least I need to see the doctor for first aid, all I was told after my talk talk and long lamentation is that ..Its their protocol and there is nothing they can do about it..

My own case is very mild Compare to one young lady I met there, she narrated all she has been through since 10yrs and it's been from one hospital to the other, what I saw dripping from her ear is thicker than Mucus, she said aunty it is chronic..

These pple were not interested in knowing how urgent anyone's case is.. THEY ALSO GAVE HER NOVEMBER APPOINTMENT...she had to give them money for them to change the appointment to next month according to her...

Where are we going in Nigeria, What's the way forward pls? the menance in goverment hospital is now out of the world, the health care staffs in Nigeria are to safe us but they don't care anymore, in as much it doesn't involve their family member, I had my 3kids at the government hsp and I know their way, is it from insult or their carefree attitude?

Most times I calm other patients down to be gentle with them cos they are human like us and they get tired too.... But the height of it is risking our lives.... How can you tell me to go back home and come back November without seeing a doctor at all, I think it's the duty of a doctor to tell me when to come back after seeing the situation if it's mild or needs urgent care.. This is a child I had in this same hsp...

After I told few friends, they advised I go to some specialist hsp like redington, lagoon and it's likes... Hmmmmmm.. We all know what's involve,

why do I have to suffer being a citizen.. Goverment pls help us....

PoliticsSenators Laugh Out Loud When Transmission Was Read Out In Buhari's Letter by EmagNig(op): 4:03pm On Jun 06, 2018
Nigerian senators during the plenary session on Wednesday could not hold their laughter as the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, read President Muhammadu Buhari’s cover letter on an executive bill.

Senators laugh out loud when transmission was read out in Buhari's letter

Reading out the letter to members, the mention of “transmission” in its title generated laughter in the chamber, Punch reports

The title read, “Transmission of the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Amendment Bill 2018.”

Saraki also burst into laughter, forcing him to start reading the letter afresh.”Let me start again,” he said.

Buhari’s letter read,

“I forward herewith a draft Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Amendment Bill 2018 for the kind consideration and passage by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while hoping that the bill will receive the usual expeditious consideration and passage by the distinguished Senate.”

A viral video had shown the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, struggling to read a speech at the inauguration of the Police Technical Intelligence Unit in Kano, Kano State, in May.

The video showed the IG stuttering over words like “commission” and “transmission.”

Immediately after the video of the Inspector General experiencing difficulty in reading his speech, the word transmission became the trending word for that period in time and a lot of parody videos were made in that respect.

CelebritiesI Try My Best Not To Take Advantage Of My Female Fans - Singer Praiz by EmagNig(op): 7:07am On Jun 03, 2018
Nigerian RnB songwriter and singer, Praise Ugbede Adejo also known as Praiz was a second runner-up at the maiden edition of Project Fame West Africa and he has remained relevant in the industry since then.

In this interview with Joe Agbro, he talks about music, fame, cooperation among artistes and sundry issues and his relationship with his female fans.

Why are you still with X3M Music?

What has kept me going in X3rm music for the past eight years is the fact that we’re family and it’s beyond just business. X3rm Music believed in me when nobody did. And for me, it is very significant and the way Mr. Steve Babaeko takes me as his brother, as his son. I mean, we’ve built a relationship that goes beyond business.
Are you making money?

When I look at my career from when I got signed in 2010 and now. I mean, all I can say is ‘God is good.’ I mean, there’s been a drastic change in my life, in every part of my life. So, definitely growth is needed but I mean when the thing is right, I think we’ll know what to do. But right now, everyone is happy and we’re only just hoping for the best.
Are you comfortable wih your genre of music?

I’m very comfortable with my genre of music which is R&B; though it doesn’t change the fact that I’m a complete musician. When I say I’m a complete musician, I sing, I write, I produce, I play the drums, I play the piano and I love all genres of music.

And it’s not out of place for me to want to do something that’s different from the norm. Music is supposed to make you dance, supposed to make you feel in love, supposed to make you meditate, and it’s supposed to make you think. And I like to just go with the flow of music. So, sometimes, I do a style of music that is not what everyone is used to from Praiz. But that doesn’t change the fact that Praiz is R&B and will always represent R&B.
The female fans?

I try my best to accommodate my female fans by always replying them. And I try my best not to take advantage of my female fans because obviously they love you and it would be wrong for me to take advantage of the fact that they love my music, love my personality for my own selfish reasons. So, I do my best not to take advantage of my female fans

CelebritiesActress Ejine Okoroafor Asks Bbnaija Ex-housemates To End Their Feuds by EmagNig(op): 6:31pm On Jun 02, 2018
Nollywood actress Ejine Okoroafor has asked feuding ex-housemates of the Big Brother Naija reality TV show to shield their swords and stop unnecessary malice.

The actress who was also a product of a reality TV show: The Next Movie Star explained how it is necessary to mend broken fences as no one knows what tomorrow may bring and there are lots of achievements to enjoy together and at the same time, there are so many benefits attached to healthy friendships.

Read her post below:

In a world where true friends are scarce, the lovely video of Tobi and Alex I saw this beautiful morning struck a chord in me and I think a little story of mine is worth sharing... So I remembered back in 2008 during the Next movie star.

I had met a girl - that has turned out to be my best friend - at the audition that held in Abuja and for reasons I guess was fate, we just clicked. At that time, my bf was going to UK for a short visit and I told him to help buy us sneakers for working out as requested by the organisers of the reality/talent hunt show...

Again as fate would have it, we both made it to the house but for some reasons still unknown to us both, we drew apart and that saw me drifting towards Karen Igho during my stay in the house.... Interestingly, immediately after the house we settled our little differences and continued our seemingly life-long journey of friendship.

Ever since that day till today we have been best friends - though we have had our fair share of ups n down -but we have remained besties, sisters and she's a life saver...For me, I can't trade our friendship for any one as much as I know this my BFF would do same.

So my advice to all this big brother housemate fighting each other is to give up, stop letting your fans strike chords of discordant, quench the bile, forgive & let love rule because afterall, we are in small world where everything that goes around, comes around...echi di ime (Tomorrow is pregnant)because that friend I met in 2008 in Next movie star is today, married to a billionaire and do you know what?

As busy as she can be, she has always been there for me, she will always make time for me out of her busy schedule just as I would do same for her...For future contestants of BBNaija, money ain't the only reward for being in the house, true friendship is also a reward and please be nice to everyone irrespective of their ways towards you.

Remember, True friends are priceless...Happy birthday Tobi and may God bless your beautiful heart

CrimeSix Out Of Ten Youths In Lagos Are Cultists - Police by EmagNig(op): 8:57am On Jun 02, 2018
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Edgal Imohimi, has stated during a town hall meeting with some residents of Surulere on Friday that six out of ten young people in Lagos were cultists.

The forum was on “ Partnership with Community for Crime Prevention.’’

The CP called for state of emergency on cultism, saying that cultism among youths in Lagos was alarming.

The Commissioner said:

“I instructed one of my officers to carry out a research on the reason for increase in cultism among the young ones, and it was revealed that it gives them a kind of advantage over their peers.”

He added that:

“For some, they joined to avoid being intimidated. Whatever reason it is, the blame is on us parents for not caring enough about our children.”

Imohimi appreciated the residents of Surulere for their support in crime fighting and criminality in their community, adding that the level of criminal in the area has drastically reduced.

He urged the residents of Surulere to continue to provide useful information to the police in their area, urging them to report any “unprofessional” conduct of police officers.

He also called on parents and guardians to monitor their children’s movement to prevent them from being used as political thugs during the forthcoming general elections.

Imohimi added:

“The election year is approaching and it is time we started talking to ourselves. Do not allow politicians to come and use your children as touts.

“All you need to do is get your PVC and vote peacefully. Let us not allow some people come from elsewhere to disrupt the peace in Lagos.’’

CelebritiesID Cabasa: How I Discovered Olamide As A 14-Year-Old Boy by EmagNig(op): 7:52am On Jun 02, 2018
Legendary music producer, Olumide Ogunade, popularly known ID Cabasa, is a beat maker who brings his artistic value to both music production and business.

In this interview with Olaitan Ganiu he spoke on the origination of his record label Coded Tunes and how he discovered hip hop star Olamide.

Professionally, when did you start your career?

I started as a teenager way back in the late 80s. I was in the secondary school while also doing music by the side. But, professionally, it was around 2003 after I left the university. I worked in a corporate company for a while before I left to fully focus on music production.

Is that when you started Coded Tunes Record?

I started Coded Tunes production in my house in 2003. But before Coded Tunes, we had a clique called, The Smiling Head Soldier which was headed by 2phat. It comprises me, 2phat, Lord of Ajasa and MC Spako. And then, we used to have a lot of squads coming to make beat in my studio.

There was this massive squad called, Yabtown Squad which is where Reminisce originated from. It is a clique of both rappers and singers and some of them were my juniors in secondary school.

From there, we decided to gather momentum and create something larger than just being Smiling Head Soldier or Yabtown Squad. And obviously the name of the studio that unites us is Coded Tunes. So, that was how we started Coded Tunes.
You’ve been a blessing to many big stars of today. Do you receive accolades for this?

I will say I’m one of the few lucky ones that got the accolade that I deserve. In fact, I get more accolades than I think I deserve because all of those I’ve worked with till date are still much loyal to our friendship and some of them still mention my name in their interviews. Last year, 9ice titled his album after me. Olamide still doesn’t believe we are in a way apart.

He doesn’t see me as ID Cabasa who just produces beats for him but rather sees me as his father and always consults me at any of his projects. We still play and do things together. The same goes for Reminisce, Seriki and every other guy, even the ones that are not part of Coded Tunes family which I’ve worked with. They still appreciate me; the likes of Banky W, Ruggedman, Durella and co.
How did you discover Olamide?

Olamide came with a friend to record in my studio; a friend was featuring him. I fell in love with the young boy of 13 or 14 as he delivered his rap line. I could hear a depth that you won’t get from most of his age mates.

I was so impressed that I told him that he’s free to come to my studio at any time. He will come to the studio, then I will make beat while is writing his lyrics. From there, the interest to have him as part of Coded Tunes developed and the rest is history. By the time Coded Tunes transited to a proper recording label, Olamide was the first person signed alongside Seriki and Kayefi.
