I don't know why we like to make everything about Nigeria. Nigeria is not in the top 3 immigrants in most western countries, but whenever any of these countries modifies thier immigration policy, bloggers will find a way to make it about Nigeria. Canada plans to reduce the number of foreign students next year, this does not specifically target Nigeria, but the OP found a way to put Nigeria in the title.

No be Punch Newspaper first capture the thing like that. That's the way news media organizations usually captures people's attention. It's a marketing strategy.

Education / Canada To Reduce Admission Slots For Nigeria And Other Nations by Engr2016: 10:58pm On Jan 22
According to the Punch Newspaper report, the Canadian government has announced new plans to reduce the number of international students coming to study in the country. This may not be unconnected to the increasing pressure on housing costs and other inflation issues. However, this new policy will not take effect until later in the year.

Malta is perhaps the best country to Japa to. Especially using study abroad route. Very decent country, gives PR to dependents, refunds 75 percent of tuition after graduation, far cheaper than all these countries listed. The solemn truth about this japa thing is that it is not a good thing perse because every country have it own peculiar challenges in every ramifications.

Some people are not good candidates to immigrate. How can someone who is established with a thriving career, sell everything including his property especially house just to move abroad?

Yes! There may be need to acquire more income and better form of life especially for the younger age persons but then don't forget that endless bill payments and taxation will take the toll on them in such countries. Not all that glitters is always gold

It depends on your perspective. I live in Canada and currently have a property in Nigeria and pension investments in the country as well. Before I left Naija, the official valuation of the property was ₦ 25,154,000 (i.e $74,526 CAD) while my pensions savings was ₦ 5,249,064 (i.e 15,552 CAD). However, because of the devaluation of the naira and the bad economy, the value of that property and pension savings is now about $36,867.56 CAD and $9,025.45 CAD respectively meaning that I have lost about 50% of my total investment in Nigeria just within 1 year. Abeg, reason am yourself if it still worth staying in such a country.

Politics / Re: CBN Moves Departments To Lagos State by Engr2016: 8:32pm On Jan 13
FreeStuffsNG:
“What is happening now at the CBN is likened to a company with over 500 staff and say 200 used to go to work in other states and return to the head office. It is not out of place for the company to relocate them fully to that state to work and increase their safety and productivity,” he said.

This is very common with most of the Federal Government agencies and it's a form of wasteful avenue to keep getting travel allowances, hazard allowances and estacodes.

Even Unity Bank that used to have its headquarters in Abuja had to move to Lagos when they realised the wastages in moving between Lagos and Abuja routinely and spending so much to keep idle stuff in Abuja.
Check my signature for free stuffs!

You are absolutley right. I was once a consultant to CBN and I can tell you for a fact that the staff usually benefit from travel allowances for travelling to Lagos on even mundane meetings that they could easily do via Zoom, Teams and other online meeting platforms. Secondly, most people don't even know that CBN has 2 headquarters. Abuja is their main headquarters while Lagos is the Headquarters extension unlike most other states that is just ordinary brances or regional branches. I have worked in both head offices too. The Lagos office is one of the largest and tallest high rise buildings in Marina, Lagos Island.

Also, has IRCC updated the POF for dependents of people applying for SOWP just like they recently announced for Study Permit applicants? Thanks ahead.

Hello good day am glad to join this group and bring my plight on here I hope I can get some solution to my issue…I applied for a study permit visa which I got rejected but my proof of funds was enough to get rejected (14 million naira) as proofs, a complete payment of first semester fees and other documents which I still later got rejected…so then I have applied for the GCMS notes to know why they gave me the rejection letter please does anyone here knows how long it take for the notes to be processed any helpful information would be appreciated..thanks
I was in a similar situation last year. If the rejection is about proof of funds alone (then you are quite lucky). How much is the total tuition? What is the duration of the course. Also, do you have sources of income or investment to back up the 14m? Is the 14m equal or more than the summation of your entire tuition fees, living expenses etc for the whole program? Lastly, when you are reapplying, you can try to pay the full tuition for 1 year in advance and convince the VO that you have additional accessible funds to support the rest of your program. I got my PPR just yesterday.

Hello house. Please what is the procedure for submission of passport at the Canada VFS office in Lekki, Lagos? I have booked their appointment yesterday. Does it require booking for DHL, UPS etc separately for the movement of the passport or do I have to come back to the VFS office to pick it up physically after it has been stamped? I will appreciate feedback especially from anyone that have done it before. Thanks and regards.

Except you are financially okay and come from a rich home. I advice anyone who want to come here to come in with PR. If you are struggling do not bother coming here with. Student visa because it’s hard here.
Are you in Ontario province or in Toronto city? If yes, then the cost of living will be very expensive. But be hopeful and persevere till you reach your goal by God's grace.

EyinjuGod:
Good morning all
God did it
He finally made me smile after 2 rejections
I’m a 3rd time time applicant and I already promised to give back to the page that gave me so much hope and inspiration.

I reapplied last year December after paying full tuition
Had about 8/9M in my account as POF and I also used a sponsor as co sponsor but was rejected in Feb
It was really a tough one and I didn’t tell people until about a week or 2 weeks after the rejection

I summoned courage and started putting my documents together again. I reapplied on the 30th of March after I had waited for my CGMS note and was tired of waiting.
Voila, notes came out same day I reapplied. Got there notes in the afternoon and I reapplied in the morning around 4 a.m.
reason for rejection was because I didn’t prove enough relationship btw sponsor

Reason for first rejection was because I was self sponsored and didn’t pay tuition and VO felt I have higher degree already but I finally got a PPR with the same admission letter

I prayed even though I felt I did justice to relationship btw sponsor on both occasions
I used my uncle though.
Things I did differently this time around.

I mentioned that the program is a necessity for my career and academic progression due to the specialization and also the course isn’t studied in Nigeria
I added my fathers landed documents as a claim that it can be liquidated if any need for urgent funds arise.
I also mentioned that I am my father’s manager and I manage all his properties here and I’ll come home from time to time to oversee it.
I used my parents as home ties. Used my job that I’ll return to the job and I also Used a landed property and also used my father’s properties since I am his property manager.

I got PFL on 14th of April and I was given just 7 days to reply with evidence that I didn’t use fraudulent bank statement
I was sad, worried. I had to go to bank to request for updated bank statement and I reached out to my sponsor to help with updated MBS and I got a reference letter from the bank too because my sponsor and I used same bank so I wasn’t sure of the particular statement they had issues with
I attached a letter to address the PFL and possible reasons that I could think of which could have warrant the letter

I was truly scared because my research shows that PFL is usually followed by either a rejection or ban.

I kept on praying and God did it on the 4th of May
And funny thing is I have been counting days to God since may 1st
I’ll tell God, God, today is day 1 of May, please put a smile on my face and answer my questions

I got the first email that night because the phone was with me and I got BVL. Then the second email dropped just few mins apart and my hands were shaky. Behold, God did it

This is to encourage everyone not to give up especially for those that got rejected by the embassy.

How is this a discouragement? We are advising our brother on the best. No where did I even mention college. School refers to all institutions including polytechnics, universities, colleges etc. Besides there are many masters programs whose tuition fees are even less than half of that school he stated. E.g University of Saskatchewan, University of Lethbridge, University of Calgary etc total tuition for 2years are cheaper for the entire 2years of 4 semesters instead of his current 6 semesters. Nevertheless, if he has adequate funds that covers his current choice, he is free to go for it.

Good day Gurus in here ,

Please what determines how much I should have as my proof of fund ?

I have admission for a two years course with 8,000 Canadian Dollars per term(semester) and they have 6 Terms for the whole 2years all together, meaning, the Total tuition is 48,000 Dollar.

Please, how much do you think I should I have as a proof of fund here.

Thanks as I await your quick response.

Bro, that school is too expensive and the duration is too long as well. There are several schools and programs in Canada that are far cheaper than this.

You can defer your admission till 2024. Then wait till 6 months before the expiration of the current passport to apply for a new International passport. However, I think you should reach out to any Nigeria Immigration Officer for an official recommendation. Normally if your passport is stolen or missing, or damaged, you don't have to wait till the date of expiration to get a new one but you will definitely pay more fees to get a new one. For instance, you will be required to pay for the flight tickets of the immigration officer who would accompany you to their office in Abuja if you are not based in the FCT. Replacement passports can only be issued in Abuja.

Hello my people,

Please I need help on this issue.
My passport will expire next year July, 06 2024, and I’m applying for study permit that should last for a duration of three years.
Do you think I should get a new passport before applying or continue with my old passport and hopefully to renew it when I get to canada.

Please I need your advice!!

Based on my experience , you will have to wait until about 6 months before the current passport expires before you can apply for another passport unless it is lost, damaged etc. I was in a similar situation last year and the advice I got from the Nigerian Immigration Officer is that I have to wait until 6months before the passport will expire before I could apply for another passport. Applying for a 3 year study permit with a passport that will expire in 1 year is extremely risky. In fact, IRCC would not even allow it.

This is just to help anyone, it is gotten from a previous post and I find it very useful
Simply create a GC key account username and password and continue an application to come to Canada. You will be promoted to create security questions and answers, which will take you to the online questionnaire. The process is simple and straight forward. Once you're done with this you will be redirected to a section where you will be required to upload all documents in their various sections.

You should see a typical of the below on your online dashboard when you begin the process.

Application for study permit made outside of Canada (IMM1294) (required) - Complete, save and Upload the study permit form.

Passport (required) - Upload your international passport.

Letter of Acceptance (required) - Upload your letter of acceptance from the school.

Proof of means of financial support - Upload your Sponsorship letter, Affidavit of support, bank statements, payslips, sponsor's source of income (like- employment letters, introduction letters from employer, promotions letter etc.) or bussines documents (CAC certificates, tax clearance certificate, article of association and memorandum etc..) Also, include your already paid tuition receipt in this section (if any).

Digital Photo (required) - Upload your Passport Photograph. The passport size should be between 60KB to 240KB and the dimension should be 420X540.

Family Information (IMM5645) (required) - Complete, save and Upload the family form.

Schedule 1- Application for a temporary Resident Visa made outside Canada (IMM5257) (required) - Complete and Upload the form.

Client Information (required) - Upload your SOP/LOE, degree certificates, transcripts, birth certificates, recommendation letters from past and present employers, NYSC discharge papers, your work ID, your employment letters, resume etc... (every supporting documents should be uploaded in this section).

I hope you find the above information useful. Feel free to ask questions.

All the best in your application.

Thanks for the info. However, as regards the photograph, these are the requirements stated in the IRCC application portal.

If you are applying through the Nigerian Study Express (NSE) route, your visa will come out in about 30days. However if it is through the regular route, it may take up to 4 months.

I know ircc to hold your refusal letter after months of waiting. I booked appointment with immigration lawyer already even went to change and defer his course yesterday
Perhaps it was based on living expenses because that is the second leg of proof of funds.

Hi everyone,
Do you think it’s possible to get a status change after refusal from IRCC. My lil bro biometric was updated on 2nd , he got biometric letter and refusal letter same day. It’s weird because he was refused based on financial status since he has paid tuition. He got another message saying status has change after receiving his refusal letter. Today is 4th so his biometrics and refusal Same the same day, we printed it out yesterday and today a status has change. Could it be ghost message?
Do you think there can be a reconsideration after refusal we didn’t do or submit anything

As regards the tuition fee he has paid, is it for full 1 year or just a part of the tuition fee or just a regular tuition deposit fee? Secondly, does he have additional funds that covers his living expenses?

Fill the total cost of your 2years tuition fees in the Tuition cost, while you fill the total cost for your living expenses for 2 years in the “funds available for your stay”. Cheers

Thanks a lot. But the info on the IRCC site and the university recorded video guide on Study Permit indicates that it should be for the 1st year tuition and living expenses only.

Hello Gurus in the house. Can you help me to confirm if my funding details below and in the screenshot is adequate this time around after my refusal last year due to inadequate funding/asset. Got an admission for a 2yr MSc program. The total tuition fee for the 1st year is 13,513 CAD while the second year is a smaller fee of just 4,300CAD. I have fully paid more than the 1st year tuition fee in advance (i.e 13,600 CAD). I also have additional 18,358 CAD in my bank accounts and 9,000 CAD guaranteed funding for 1st year from the university. I don't want to add the second year renewable funding for now since it has not been officially awarded. See screenshot below. Please is this adequate for me to reapply now? Thank you.
