Why tell your boss that you have an exam when you can easily fall sick for a week. Except your organization supports a study leave, you shouldn't in any means communicate at your work to anyone that you are engaged in advanced studies, especially postgraduate, your boss probably has the same certificate as you, she wouldn't want you to boss her. Anyway, weigh what you prefer most, the job or your postgraduate, only you can advise yourself. If you have any other option, quit the job and go for your exams, it is clear your development isn't supported by your boss.
lmao! cheesy those that are sick are praying to be well oh

This post reads like a prophesy.

I work in an oil company.

I have a training in one European country in 0ctober.

My Group Head will also be coming from our UK office.

I plan to go with my wife and kids.

I have never given a thought whether it will involve extra costs for my company.

Now that I read this, I have to run it by my travels department to be sure I don't run foul of any company policy.

But I know there will be nothing wrong in taking your family along for training, provided no extra cost to the company.
I have noticed this among Nigerians (even outside Nigeria) whilst in contrast I have never seen any (non-Nigerian) colleague taking their families along on a work-sponsored trip rather they take leave days and plan a proper family holiday typically during the summer. Is there a particular reason Nigerians try to do this? i.e. take the family along for a work-trip? Is it to save costs or what, I really don't get it. Why be on a working holiday trip when you can have a proper holiday.

Secondly, during work trips, evenings are usually to network and have dinner with colleagues based in that location, would you take the family along for such?

It was useful in getting him the job.(Much to his surprise).

Well....that was decades ago....
Head boy is different from timekeeper though - more responsibilities & leadership skills.

Krysstie:
One of the most common Nigerian trend is for unemployed graduates to lament about sending out their CVs over a hundred times a month without getting a single feedback. They even curse the government for not giving them jobs.

You see, when the HR manager or whoever is receiving CVs get 20+ mails from unqualified individuals, the next question that comes to mind is, “Can I just get a few qualified applicants”? The moment about 5 qualified CVs arrive, that’s almost always the end of the show. If the HR is not as impatient as I am, he or she might decide to go through the frustrating experience of opening another 20+ unqualified CVs in a bid to wait for 5 more qualified applicants.

The job recruitment and application process is just crazy! From just one job ad, over a 100 CVs are received. How about a solution? There should probably be a way to close the mailboxes after a maximum number of CVs has been received. It’s really frustrating for the HR, and also frustrating for you to keep applying for jobs month after month without feedback. Save your CV from a life in the trash folder. Get experience! Read the job ad over and over again to know if your qualification and experience fit! Make things easy for yourself and whoever is receiving the CVs.

All the best in your job search!

http://houseofmo.com/diary-of-a-pretend-hr/
I understand it's frustrating but totally disagree with closing the mailbox after a set number of CVs are received - as long as the deadline hasn't passed.
Solution - would be to make use of a portal / online form which applicants would fill online and their details will go to a back end database; from there you can filter based on multiple factors age, degree, or whatever criteria it is and shorten it down - rather than poring through a hard copy CV.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Graduate With A Distinction From UK Uni & You Offered With N50k Job In Nigeria by ephi123(f): 11:26am On Jul 22, 2015
Lots of envious vexed comments on this thread, why na?! cheesy

I know the quality of education overseas is much better than what Nigerian universities offer but anyone travelling abroad for a degree should not expect to automatically receive a job offer on a platter of gold, neither should you have a sense of entitlement cos frankly the job market in Nigeria is over-saturated.

As others have rightly said, it is all about the VALUE you can bring to the company (it is up to you to demonstrate that during your interview, your degree alone will not do it for you).
And yes, experience does count.
CrimePolice Violence In The US: Emily Bland's Story by ephi123(op): 11:06am On Jul 22, 2015
Anger over Sandra Bland's death in a Texas jail has boiled over after newly released video showed what happened at the traffic stop that led to her arrest.

Now, many question whether she should have been arrested at all.
The dashcam video shows Texas state Trooper Brian Encinia pulling Bland over July 10 for allegedly failing to use her turn signal. What started as normal conversation gets testy after Encinia asks her to put out her cigarette.

"I am in my car. I don't have to put out my cigarette," Bland said.
"You can step on out now," Encinia replies.
Bland refuses to get out of her car, and the trooper opens her door and starts trying to pull her out of the vehicle.

What happens after that has ignited a debate about what the officer could have done versus what he should have done.
'For a failure to signal?'
In the video, Encinia tells Bland she is under arrest. She repeatedly asks why, but the trooper does not answer, other than to say "I am giving you a lawful order."

They argue, then Encinia pulls what appears to be his Taser and points it at Bland.

He screams: "Get out of the car! I will light you up! Get out! Now!"

Bland then exits the car of her own accord, saying: "Wow, really, for a failure to signal? You're doing all of this for a failure to signal?"
Much of what happens next is not seen on camera, but the officer can be heard saying Bland is not compliant.

"When you pull away from me, you're resisting arrest," says Encinia.
A clearly upset Bland can be heard saying: "You're a real man now. You just slammed me, knocked my head in the ground. I got epilepsy you mother******."
"Good," he replies.
A female officer tells Bland she should have thought about that before she started resisting.

What's the legality here?
Technically, a driver can get arrested in Texas for simply failing to use a turn signal.
In the video, Encinia tells Bland he intended to give her just a warning -- until Bland failed to comply with orders and repeatedly cursed at the trooper.

"You were getting a warning ... until now," Encinia said. "You're going to jail."
CNN law enforcement analyst Harry Houck said the trooper did have the right to ask Bland to get out of the car and then try to pull her out of the car.
"The fact is an officer can make an arrest anytime ... you run a red light, parking ticket, anything like that," Houck said. "What he did was he notices she was agitated."

But Houck, a retired New York Police Department detective, said he was concerned by the video.
"The one problem I have was just that he told her to get out of the car because she wouldn't stop smoking."
CNN legal analyst Sunny Hostin said she advises people that "when you have a police encounter, you want to make it as short and sweet as possible."

"But I don't think that he had the right to ask her to get out of the car because not putting out your cigarette is not cause for an arrest."

Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw said Encinia has been taken off the street and has been assigned administrative duties pending the outcome of an investigation. "We have certain procedures in place, and he did not comply with those procedures," McCraw said. "One of the many procedures is letting the individual know in terms of what actions are going to be taken." The director also said "A DPS state trooper has an obligation to exhibit professionalism and be courteous throughout the entire contact, and that wasn't the case in this situation."

What's the response?
Emotions ran high as people across the country watched the video.

"Just watched about 20 minutes of Sandra Bland's traffic stop," one person tweeted. "(I don't know) if I've ever been so heated. I can feel my blood boiling."

"Half of my family (including my mother) works in law enforcement," Ashley C. Ford tweeted. "I am well aware of my rights. Sandra Bland should've never been arrested."

Encinia has not spoken out publicly about the incident. But he gave his account in his arrest warrant affidavit, as reported by CNN affiliate KPRC. The trooper wrote that Bland became "combative and uncooperative," and that she was placed in handcuffs "for officer safety." "Bland began swinging her elbows at me and then kicked my right leg in the shin," Encinia said. "I had a pain in my right leg and suffered small cuts on my right hand. Force was used to subdue Bland to the ground to which Bland continued to fight back." Encinia also wrote that Bland "was placed under arrest for Assault on a Public Servant."

Its very evil for people to write a test, risk everything and at the end, nothing. No call back. No information.

Only to get a dumb thread from a laggard asking for salary scale.

Why make the recruitment public in the first place. Why make people spend money. Risk life and limb. Why? When you have your candidates picked out.

Is this Nigeria for a select few only?

For me, I personally prefer dress code in Universities .

The Law students wear black n white

The Accounting students wear sky blue n black...etc

Dress code saves money man! I no fit dey rock Jordans go class in other to keep up with craze or fad trends!

It gives this academic atmosphere, much respect is given to them, I so admire the black n white Law students.

Dress codes gives a guideline, imagine you wearing Timberlands and dog chains to class, this is an academic arena not a rap battle contest!

The way you dress is the way u will be addressed.

Mind you, dress code is different from uniform. B4 u quote me, get ur head right.

But why is it that most poor and struggling countries like we have in Africa, are where you see the most homophobic people in the world? Is there a llink between being homophobic and under development?
Remember that the Western countries only started this "turnaround" some years ago. Homosexuality was a crime in Britain until 1967 and Britain was certainly well developed at that point so I don't necessarily see a link between a country being homophobic and underdeveloped.
