Abufo: Africans and Nigerians are some of the most unserious and useless people on this planet! Bloody rent seekers think producing oil is like going to CBN to roundtrip forex....they are in for a shock! The oil majors not only have Petroleum engineers they also have some of the smartest and accomplished economists and accountants....ok O ! let us see these agbado and aboki rent seekers make money from the so called marginal oilfields.........whiteman says the oil fields are no longer profitable..........yet the greedy and largely illiterate politicians want to go and try to squeeze water from stone! The only way they can possiblly make money is if they have the most efficient refinery in this universe!..........Nigerians are not good managers at all.................They have not thought it through at all! This was why I kept saying the FG has no Biz with Biz, they should stick to governance. |

immortalcrown: You are trying so hard to change the topic. The point is that Nigeria lacks the required tight policy for effective privatisation. You yourself pointed out that the required tight policy is lacking. They abandoned NITEL because people are not making calls. The invention of GSM or mobile phone motivated people to start making calls. If your logic is correct, they would have sold NITEL before they coming of MTN. They sold NITEL to remodel it for GSM (mobile phones). The point here is simple, if we stick to prepaid Meters those who call themselves Investors in the power sector will be bankrupt as we will provide our own electricity. The company goes back to the FG and serious people come into play cos they can see clear route to monetise their investment. The simple reason NITEL failed is this, there was no room for non-service billing as there was an option ie MTN and co,The Power sector has loads of options, Diesel Gen and Solar Gen.You keep going back to these policies and you do not seam to know what the policy statements are,In your own words what do you think these so called Policies I mentioned means and do you think there are no policies? |

immortalcrown: You shy away from the main point. You shy away from the fact that privatisation does not work in Nigeria as it works in other countries.
You are also wrong in your claim about the survival of companies in Nigeria. You still have rail corporation, NNPC, NTA, FRCN and etcetera. They will continue to manage whatever they have not sold or a competitors will come in just as MTN and the rest came in before the sale of NITEL. Why do you think NITEL died? Howman FG owned companies do you think are in production today? Take a look at the NNPC for example, thier overhead is more than 10 times what they produce so FG is running at a lose, do you want to visit NPA? you mentioned NTA who tunes to NTA? when was the last time you tuned your TV to NTA and not on the DSTV dish?.I think you are misinterpreting the word privatisation here, it simply means relieving a company from a 10% owned by govt to a % stake by the public, usually 60%40.What is the point of k eeping a non performing company on FG pay role .Just so that I know we in same page, When NEPA was sold what is your understanding of NEPA being Sold/privatised? cos you seem to have your wires crossed here I recon. |

immortalcrown: But those countries, unlike Nigeria, have good policies to protect citizens against outrageous bills by the electricity companies. You yourself pointed out that the required tight policy is lacking in Nigeria. So, privatisation of electricity distribution in Nigeria is undoubtedly a big scam. If not for privatisation by now,U wont even be talking of electricity, you would have to provide your own electricity for months on end, it would have vanished NITELl AND NNPC Right about now FG needs to force them to provide Prepaid Meters as the only source of billing, that will force thier hands into i nvesting in the sector |

immortalcrown: It can't be the wisest move since the required tight policy is lacking. No government provide electricity in the developed world. It has to be private, take for example imagine if Nitel was still providing us telecommunications, we wont even have internet. |

immortalcrown: Story for the gods.
Sell to who and why exactly? That's how Nigerians believed that the sale of NEPA will improve power supply. What has been happening since after the sale of NEPA? Artificial scarcity of prepared metres, outrageous bills for those billed with estimation, no rapid response for areas where estimation billing is dominant, physical abuse of Nigerians by the staff members of the electricity distribution companies, houses connected to electric polea are billed every month even if those houses experience blackout for a year.
This is also how it is claimed that Dangote Refinery will make fuel affordable for Nigeria. How cheap are cement, salt, sugar and flour for Nigeria? The sale of NEPA was the wisest move ever, however we need tight policy to hold thos it was sold to accountable,1st of such policy should have been the complete outlaw of estimated billing, by now we all should have pre paid meters so no light no bill. |

I always wonder how stressful it is when you are in the sitting room just chilling and you need to pee especially late night like this ...do u walk outside or go to your room just to use the rest room?
When you can easily stand up tak a turning and use the vistor tiolet
Its best design in a way whr the door is not directly facing your sitting room
Visitor tiolet inside still remain the best in my own opinion Im not talking just inside the house Im talking about when the door is visible from a sitting position inside one's living room |

The builder blocked the entrance to the toilet at the veranda and created a new entrance from the living room. It is beautiful. Those who kicked against it suddenly fell in love with it when the toilet was moved to the living room.
You ll eventually love it… SO you feeel conffy with a visitor doing number two just nxt door to your living room? |

Blakjewelry: @fluid mechanic cool. Anyway I get what you are saying but my emphasis is not really on the availability of power per ser but due to severe factors such as you might need to provide source of energy for yourself and considering the cost of diesel in the country. Also for instance, those producing H beam already have a large market for it but if you are building an Engine and gearbox for just some few hundreds of cars a year then you will definitely run at lost at the end of the day. What I am trying to say in essence is that many most times thinks it is lack of brains that is causing the lack of some industry in Nigeria but it is always so. Sometimes some company actually needs other company to thrive.
I had this discussion with my lecturer back then in school it's more of an argument than a discussion, I told him most of the problem in Nigeria is because of the people with money are afraid to take risk, except for the chip making industry which has some best kept secret, that in today's world you set up any manuctering or production company you want as their company that will set up what you want and it money that will speak. Look simply put, I'm still a Nigerian even though Im British, the thigs I do here as regard work can be done by any Nigerian who is an engineer punt in my shoes. I work globally as I will work on anything that uses pressure and fluids to work.SO what's missing. Answer Investment and initial capital plus unfriendly govt policies. |

Blakjewelry: Which specific area of engineering is your specialty? There is nothing special about design and implementation of a vehicle engine. A good team of engineer with Autocad can give you a design to specifications, send that design to China and you get a mold. Now is it profitable to build a plant just for engine production, nope. Most production company in the develop country depends on other companies. for instance, a car engine manufacturer can produce for different companies all the company needs to do is send their design to the production company you get your product. To answer your 1st question I am a fluid mechanic. Now to your response are you sure you understood what I was trying to say up there?cos I was addressing the ++ We in Nigeria Have power as our problem Key Word Power+++I simply stated that the amount of Energy it takes to manufacture an Engine cast is by far less that one needed to produce a bar of H beam! does this make sense? |

Reeefe: Hello house in a case where an amendment is to be done in a bungalow. I am insisting on moving the visitors toilet entrance to be inside the sitting room rather than in the varrender. So we need to both extend the v.t and put a wall to close out the varrender.
Would it be necessary to put a beam before setting the blocks or would the weight sit well on the German floor when casted?
And would an extra beam be needed on the lintel level too or we can just raise the blocks to leveling level? Bross leave the toilet outside,. I don't think I will be comfortable sitting outside a toilet door facing me directly knowing full well someone is taking a shyte there. I have not seen anywhere in the western world where you can enter and exit a toilet direct from a living room but yet Nigerians seem to have perfect this scene! |

Image123: You buy from anywhere but it is cheap because NHS which is the major buyer gets it cheap. Law of demand and supply. NHS has more demand and gets cheap, other 'competitors also have to get cheap and sell cheap. For example if the Ministry of Labour is the biggest importer of cement and imports at 1000naira per bag, other smaller importers have to source for cheap and sell cheap to compete in sales. Your post of full of assumptions, cos you are entirely wrong, just cos the NHS gets its meds from Uk manufacturers does not determine the price the coys sell thier product. Hey sell at inflation determined prices. I work with a company that does loads for the NHS, we will charge the NHS same price as we will charge siemens in Germany. Why dont you let those who actually pay the NI contribution tell you how it is done or you think they are Dunmb or smthing |

Blakjewelry: There are videos online were some of the works were been done by hand. I mean pure construction on the chassis and doors though I heard he has upgraded to automated process now. From an engineering point of view, the only complex part to a vehicle is the engine and gearbox system not because it is hard per ser but because it requires a mold which in turn requires large amount of energy which is something we are currently lacking as a nation. Well as an Engineer, I will disagree with you on the Engine part, reason is we lack brains not energy to make an Engine,>The pour is manual, the only process that requires Energy is the melt (Heat) we already produce H beams made of steel, so an Aluminium Alloy Engine requires less Energy to melt. Do not forget the Chassis too need a mould and cast also the super structure of the car. Everything else is a press and spot weld which amount to not much energy. |
