When a thief is caught on your street, do you get sad or happy? Or maybe you don't care if he made away with the stolen items provided it's not your house that is burgled.

I don't know the motives behind everyone's comments but on a general note, people have every reason to be happy when someone who constitutes pains to others is down. I sympathise with the innocent people who had him as a loved one but saying I'm not happy a thief is caught would only make me a crime apologist.
FamilyRe: How Do You Cope If Married To Someone You Don't Love? by etrange: 6:13pm On Jul 05, 2020
ollins:
Let me cut the story short. Had a fling with this girl, along the line she got pregnant. You know all that talk of "if you could sleep with her, then you must marry her" "if you got her pregnant then you must marry her", Iooking back now, I wished I hadn't listened to all those voices.
I knew in my heart that I didn't love her, even she knew but the pressure from the family was too much, I had to marry her. On my marriage day I was practically crying within me.
Her character is just opposite of all I wanted in a woman, she's barely educated, loud and loquacious.
That's my cross I am carrying today, stuck in a loveless marriage.
The warmth and Romance is absent from our home, we have not had intimacy since beginning of the year till now, we just have no interest anymore in each other. We are just living together for the sake of our child.
My question now is how does one cope? Is this how I am going to live the rest of my life?
<deviation>
I also know the talk of "skin-to-skin dey sweet pass", "condom is for boys", "real man go raw and withdraw", etc. Maybe those are what you shouldn't have listened to. If, when looking back, the major mistake you see and regret is getting married to her, then you need to think some more because getting married to her (though avoidable) was a only a consequence of a bigger mistake. The deed has been done, selective regretting can gain you Nairaland sympathy but that won't change a thing in your life. So don't just say you regret getting married to her (that makes it look like she is the protagonist), regret going in raw (a mistake you both made).
</deviation>

Sorry for that deviation, I had to let it out.

Now, I'm not an advocate of sticking to marriage if both parties are not happy, it makes zero sense and it could turn violent easily. Having separated parents is much better for the kids than a violent home. If you guys aren't happy together, I'll advise you go your ways to avoid stories. You have to understand this could result to you not participating actively in your baby's upbringing; a price you pay for your freedom. We just can't have it all.

If she's happy and contented in the marriage, it gets more complicated. Kicking out a woman who is happily married to you with your kid is not an option. True you can't easily cultivate love and you can't find what was never there but if what you don't like is her classlessness and not that she's always nagging, overspending and/or any such vices, then you could still make a friend of her. The so-called passionate love burns out after some years, friendship is what keeps couples going afterwards. If you make her your friend, at least, and she begins to understand you want her well-being, it will be easier to communicate the changes you want to see. Communication is key.

I know my take might not mean much cause it's a very difficult situation but the summary of what I'm saying is, don't be selfish in whatever decision you take, consider the other two parties involved.

Best of luck!

So how does that mean I lied? That you've seen some that weren't as predictable doesn't mean most (like I said in my post) aren't. Apart from series, it's very easy to tell who will kill who in most American movies even by just knowing the names of the cast. This is true and we all know it.

It is not necessarily more predictable than most Hollywood movies where you already know from the onset who will eventually kill who at the end, who will die, who will survive, who will prevail or the group that will eventually win against all odds.

The only reason we prefer Hollywood is the superb cinematography and the inbetweens.

I'm not encouraging crime please don't do crime but let us be realistic in our thoughts and speech,
Not being shady but I honestly didn't get the crux your message. You said you're not encouraging crime, what then are you doing? Are you saying we should pity him? The dude committed crime, true. There are many criminally minded people out there, true. But whichever way, what he did is egregious and deserves all the associated criticisms. He lived a lavish lifestyle most people dream, that's true. There's nothing wrong with dreaming big. The issue is living a lavish lifestyle at the expense of another man's sweat. People lost their future, source of income or even their lives so this guy could buy Gucci and showcase it online; are we supposed to be drumming songs of support behind him? He crime is heavy and he should accept the heavy consequences. That's the way the Law works.

You said you don't support crime yet your entire writeup revolves around how he's better that those who didn't do what he did despite the fact that he's been caught. What other form of support can you possibly offer for crime? Would you write anything like this if you were from a family whose livelihood was lost to this guy's crime? Why would you rather be sympathetic to the criminal and not the victims?

Bro, let's say no to crime.

I rep 2010.

This is my 4th account. I lost my second account after the legendary crash/hack of 2014 that made the app to remain stagnant with old data for days. When the app was eventually revived, data that were entered a few months before attack were completely wiped out, threads were lost and user names disappeared.

That was the darkest moment in the history of Nairaland. It was Nairaland's version of the civil war. I can still remember how boys and girls took to Facebook and Twitter to ask what had happened to Africa's largest online forum! People sought for answers, rumours were peddled but only a few knew what really transpired...

At least, it taught the developers the importance of backing up live server DB more frequently.
CelebritiesRe: Kim K Wrongly Spells The Name Of North's Horse. by etrange: 7:10pm On Jun 30, 2020
eyizlive:
Boy, this is tiring and I can't relate to your "logical perspectives" so here are facts.
*kim bleeped for fame and money (if that's not a hoe and a clout-chaser, you're delusional)
*she bought those horses, she likes those horses and typed "freesian" twice. It's not a typo and if she didn't know the correct spelling she could have googled it but she didn't.
Honestly I don't know what she stands to gain but I know clout-chasing done right is big bucks. so if you're waiting for me to upload a video where she would say she did it for clout (evidence) well...that would explain a lot about you.
A "hoe" is supposedly someone who sleeps with different men. Kim is a married woman with a family who hasn't been accused of cheating. Kim's sex tape with someone she was dating when she was 22 got leaked and she sued the company who paid dearly for it outside court. Besides, she wasn't the only person whose sex got leaked that period but hers went viral cause she was already popular even before the tape. If your point is that anyone who has sex before marriage is a hoe, that's fine, she is one. But then, who isn't?

Ok, let's agree she was chasing clout then since it's a possibility that shouldn't be ruled out, that is not even our argument now. You posited that she made this exact post for clout and I am saying that's an assumption. I don't buy into that assumption cause there are a million things she could use to take over the social media if such was her aim. But again, I'm not ruling it off, I'm saying you shouldn't present your thoughts or assumptions like facts because you could be wrong. You'd agree with me if you aren't being sentimental.

I never for once said the error was a typo. I have always maintained it was an error (limited knowledge) and I am sure there are names you think you know how to spell but can't. Even auto correct wouldn't help you with such unpopular names that are not of English origin. Like I said, you simply made an assumption, the ideal thing was to use words like "probably", "might", etc. since you don't have any evidence. But your sentiments wouldn't let you.
CelebritiesRe: Kim K Wrongly Spells The Name Of North's Horse. by etrange: 6:05pm On Jun 30, 2020
eyizlive:
Firstly, yes, I didn't know it wasn't standard but the comparison you're making is what I'm correcting.
Secondly, I need you to point-out where I insinuated that she had to go to friesland to buy the horses.
Thirdly, an error is not a crime but this here is not an error but clout-chasing (also not a crime) and your love/respect for Kim won't change that. So unless you want to tell me Kim isn't aware that the pronunciation of words aren't always equal to their spelling, you have no point here.
And I'm telling there's nothing that evidently shows it's clout chasing. You're only presenting your assumption as a fact and that's fallacious. And that is even a funny assumption cause deliberate wrong spellings wouldn't get Kim, one of the most famous female celebrities in the world, any more attention than her family tv series or her pictures or her brand or her husband would get her. When it comes to proper nouns like people's names, names of places, etc., wrong spelling is very common even amongst native speakers so it's not a matter of knowing that words aren't necessarily pronounced according to words.

Concluding I'm saying these cause I love Kim goes to show how hastily you make your assumptions. I've not even seen a complete episode of her family show. I'm trying to be logical with my perspectives unlike some people who are calling her a clout chaser or a "hoe" based on pure sentiments and no evidence.

Let me breakdown what you're saying... She bought 14 horses from somewhere she doesn't know. She just likes them and doesn't care what they're called until when she wanted to post it. Then she asks someone for the name and after hearing it, just assumed she could spell it. Is that right?

I wasn't defending myself, insultive is a word although non-standard. I'm not an Englishman neither is this an exam hall. There's nothing called a "freesian horse", so stop trying to compare.
Wow! So you assume she actually went to the Netherlands to buy the horse? Do you guys in Nigeria go to Germany to buy a German shepherd? Oga, I live in North America and you can buy this horse from many breeding houses around here. The spelling she gave would have the same pronunciation as the correct word so she might have always called it correctly and just didn't know the spelling. An error is not a crime and not unusual.

"Insultive" is just an error that is very frequent. Anybody could coin anything and call it a word but regardless of how you paint it, it is still an error cause when you were making that post, I bet your intention wasn't to employ a "non standard word". You probably didn't know it wasn't an acceptable English word until I called your attention to it. And here you are justifying the usage.

That's not how project management works nah. There's a timeline for CAF preparation and there are dates allocated to each phase of the timeline. Phases that should have since been completed by now are halted due to the virus thus extending the duration of the entire preparation timeline. The start date of the tournament would, therefore, have to be shifted by the number of days lost in the timeline.
CelebritiesRe: Kim K Wrongly Spells The Name Of North's Horse. by etrange:

Since you know about standard english words I'm sure you know that:
*It's not free from regional differences
*friesland is a place (the origin of the horses) not some English word that could become non-standard tomorrow because some "professors" don't like it.
Friesland is a place but you'd have to know the horse was named based on that fact that it originated from that place to know the spelling. She might know what someone from there is called but might not be aware that's the basis for naming the horse. Even if she didn't know about the place and what people from there are called, it's still an error caused by limited knowledge and not necessarily clout chasing. Friesland is a region in the Netherlands, you can't possibly tell me you know all the regions there and what people from each are called.

You don't have to be defensive, "insultive" is a frequent error in countries that speak English as a second language. No English language testing institution would accept that regardless of the region. Whether it becomes standard tomorrow or not is another thing entirely.
CelebritiesRe: Kim K Wrongly Spells The Name Of North's Horse. by etrange: 3:31pm On Jun 30, 2020
eyizlive:
I don't want to sound insultive but is that what you do?
A word she spelt wrong twice and this is your argument for her?
And you're correct she's living the life.
She spelt it wrong twice because it never occurred to her the spelling was wrong. It was not a mistake (accidental), it was an error (lack of knowledge). That doesn't make it deliberate. Anybody could be in that position just like you didn't know "insultive" is not a standard English word.

Btw, I wouldn't care if you sounded insulting, that's what NL is known for anyway.
