Yeah, but they'll still have enemies even while doing the right thing. The only way they would be confident kicking asses if they have the reassurance that the government would protect thier families even after the mandate has expired. The thought of having one's family at the mercy of these heartless fraudsters once there is a fall out with the government (corruption, frame-up or otherwise) could deter one from fully pursuing the criminals. Even the strongest of men would think about his family first.

It's more or less a catch-22 situation. They have good reasons to withdraw his security guards yet abandoning the family of someone whose former position naturally gathered enemies like mangoes gather flies will only make some people scared of doing the right thing when place in such sensitive positions. They'd say the Nigerian government wouldn't protect them when it backfires.

Regardless of the reason, the joyful thing is that a kid is getting scholarship. The other day, a boy who sang beautifully well in Igbo got a similar accolade. So this not about slavery but appreciating pure talents. Besides, frowning at other people's culture will only make yours stagnant. Even the US is known for culture appropriation.

As for your question, you can achieve virtually anything you want on the web with PHP but knowledge, they say, is power and versatility is key. After learning one back-end language, I'm 99% sure you'll find yourself learning another, that's how it always goes. For now, you're motivated by the thoughts of being a developer but it won't be long before you start being more labour-market conscious and employability becomes a goal. The more versatile you get, the more employable you are. Even as a self employed person, it's always good to have choices as some languages might be more suited for some projects.

This could be subjective. Node.JS has so many advantages but I'd go with the good old PHP primarily because the way it's designed to work with MySQL and its variants. Node.JS may gain more traction as we progress but presently, PHP is still a more deep rooted as a backend technology. It powers most popular extensible web templates, it has more existing boilerplate codes you can easily pick from the internet, it has a larger community so help is more readily available, it has more documentations out there and, most importantly, it has more vacancies in the market (judging by the Canadian jobboards).

Still the same story. The inheritance system you described, just like the labelling/tagging itself, is for people stuck in the archaic ways of life. Today, anybody (even strangers) can inherit anything from anyone provided a will is written. Even the Igbo traditions can't stand in the way of that. Gone are the days when kinsmen gather to distribute a dead person's wealth however they want (except the dead himself wasn't educated enough to know he needed a will or even rich enough to get a lawyer).

Traditions are good but they should be sustainable and progressive. Otherwise, it becomes a clog in the wheel.

When I did my first HTML page (more than a decade ago), I showed my dad and he asked "what am I supposed to see?". He didn't mean to hurt me, he actually didn't know the coloured box (a styled div tag) was my whole work. I took a deep breath and promised to make him proud.

Someone will be in the industry toiling and then years later when newer people emerge, the person gets labelled as overrated, nawa o. It's possible Mercy is a better actress but you don't need to pull down one to appreciate the other. Genevieve is also a great actress and there's no doubt she has achieved more heights than most of her contemporaries. You're allowed to have your prefered artists but saying Genevieve is overrated is far reaching.

I love Mercy cause she's far more energetic but I think Genevieve is less dramatic and thus brings her characters closer to reality. This is subjective though.

Meanwhile, this may come as a surprise but I think one of the best role interpreters Nollywood has ever had is Tonto Dike. That's one versatile actress I miss so much!

In my opinion, there's no such thing as the best in this scenario. It's not even about programming cause, regardless of what is being studied, the choice would always depend on individual factors. Given the fact that none of these approaches gives you the chance to ask questions, it simply burns down to your brain's working principles.

Some learn more when they listen to someone teach and demonstrated while some prefer to read. Books could have more details but most times, a beginner doesn't need those overwhelming details. At the end, it burns down to you. So instead of asking such highly subjective questions, why not just try both and figure out what works for you?
