tegrianonigltd:Well, you can either keep lamenting about the scam or, like other successful people here, make something out of the little you have. Whichever, don't discourage others. |
lexy2014:Did I say anyone should not seek better opportunities? Read my messages, I never said that. I only called out a guy who called education a scam in Nigeria and rubbished an entire faculty of study. I said some people made in that same country with that same course. So if it didn't work for him, he shouldn't discourage others |
sagitariusbaby:Bro, if you've never lived here, you may not understand what racism really is. Truth is, these guys can't just not care cause the more they try to, the more it's smeared on their faces. Meanwhile, the dude just made the whites score more points with this stupid act of his. |
lexy2014:First, having active systems has never stopped anyone from seeking more opportunities. And I was never saying Nigeria is better than the western world, so what's your point exactly? |
There's nothing as rewarding as happy employees! |
lexy2014:Cause I got a job offer ![]() |
tegrianonigltd:I'm typing this from Toronto where I live and I'm not comparing our education with the education here. Far from it. I'm saying that people are making it even with that mediocre in Nigeria so I will never stand with someone who comes online to say education is a scam in Nigeria either because he got the chance to study abroad or cause he couldn't make with the little Nigeria has to offer. That statement is becoming popular and it's not good for our upcoming stars. If you can go abroad, fine. If you can't, make the best use of what you've got. You have nothing to gain from totally giving up and coming here to project blames cause no matter who agrees with you, you'll still be only one living your failure. |
Y'all are here forming over serious. It's just for fun! Nigerians can form! Tufia. |
tegrianonigltd:Dude, go to YabaTech and see what OND guys are doing there. I didn't study there but after getting most of my best interviewees from there, I had to go and see for myself. When I was in Africa, my office had a branch in Accra, I'm not disputing the competence of their graduates, but just like here some schools churned out goods grads in certain fields of study while others did better in others. I am in the so-called abroad university now and I'm not comparing foreign institutions with ours, that would be over reaching. But I'm saying people are making it even with our institutions so that guy's sweeping statement about Computer Systems and education as a whole in Nigeria is overly bold, faulty misleading to upcoming lads. There are Android developers, ERP developers, etc. scattered across the nation. They might have been better if they had better education but they aren't here calling education a scam so what excuse does the guy have? It didn't work for him, it's as simple as that. Some of us did the same courses in the same country and we're doing well even outside the country. You had the chance of going out, he doesn't. Instead of him to make the best use of the little he has, he dicided to discourage others. |
lexy2014:I said I have legacy and active systems there. An active system is a system you're still supporting or improving on up till date. Smh |
AfroKnight:What is "traditional ladies"? |
Neoteny:I get it now. You don't know the difference between subject and object in linguistics. You're defining them in general terms. That's why you feel the "someone to blame" is the subject. After all, the sentence is all about him. I also understand why you asked what verb has to do with this. Well, that's not the case. In Syntax (the branch of linguistics that studies sentence structure), the subject is not necessarily the main He blames someone. Q) Who does the blaming? A) He - that's the subject of the verb "blame". Q) Who gets the blame? A) someone - that's the object of the verb "blame" (this type of object is called a direct object). In summary, subject is the doer while the object is the receiver. I oversimplified the explanation to make it clear. I really wish you understand it now. |
lexy2014:Read my first response. I said I worked in Nigeria before leaving for North America. So I have active and legacy systems there |
lexy2014:I said I am sir. My clients can testify to my handiwork. I am contributing my quota. I'm not online blaming others for anything pertaining to me. Thanks. |
Neoteny:Why I think verbs have anything to do with grammatical functions baffles you? That's an absurd statement and simply shows you have zero idea what we're discussing. Seriously, you don't know the difference between "whom" and "who" hinges on whether the pronoun is acting as an object or subject of the verb? You didn't even read my post. Now go back and read it and show where I said "who" is an object. I repeat, "whom" is the objective form of the pronoun and the acceptable word in my context where it acts as the direct object compliment of the verb "blame". It is the recipient of the blame action. Let me teach you like a kid in case you're preparing for an exam: The guy is looking for whom to blame. The guy is doing the blaming, he is the subject of the verb). An unknown person (whom) is receiving the blame, he is the direct object of the verb. I can replace the guy with "who" but I can only replace the unknown recipient with "whom". This article title Whom Do You Blame? sends the message home: https://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/01/14/whom-do-you-blam/ If you like, learn. |
lexy2014:Yes sir. I did all my degrees in Nigeria, worked there as a software developer before I left for North America. I've not gotten a new degree here yet but I've been competing favourably well with my international counterparts. In programming, you are your own limit. The schools teach you best practices and fundamental theories. They also introduce you to different programming languages but it's up to the individual to master these languages. Anyone who has passion for programming only needs the foundation to stand on. It's like learning a natural language in foreign language departments, the lecturers only guide you. These people that talk trash about computing didn't really know what they were getting into when they opted to study that course. Some of them ended up there cause of jamb effects. |
Neoteny:Dude, stop embarrassing yourself. It's "... whom to blame". "Whom" is the objective form of "who" and in this context, it is object of the verb "blame". |
Localmannn:Please, help me explain. ![]() |
mtinfx:He said everything wrong. You can't wake up and trash a field of study because it didn't work out for you. I did the same course back in Nigeria and I'm riding on it up till now here in North America. Different strokes for different folks |
The person above has failed himself and he's running around looking for whom to blame. Believe me, he wouldn't end up any differently even he was sent to Oxford University. He thought the school would open his head and insert programming. His mates in computing are doing wonders across the nation, he's here projecting his failures. I had friends like him back in school, they hardly attend classes. Lol |

I've seen a lot of mistakes in Hollywood movies too. This is especially in the epic/medieval movies including the famous GOT. But this didn't stop us from seeing their movies. I think there are a few major reasons Nigerians don't like Nollywood: 1) The believe that foreign is better. This is the case with most products and movies are not exceptions. There was even a time they prefered Ghanaian movies despite the fact their excessive dressing, unrealistic use of locations and rather poetic use of words at that time all in a bid to impress the audience. This was until Ghanaian movies ceased to be foreign. 2) Nigerians find it easier to spot the errors in Nigerian movies. This is because it's our environment, we understand it well and we know how things should be at any phase of life. This can't be said about American movies where we take everything as "that's how they live their lives there". Only those of us that live here can actually tell when Hollywood is really going off. 3) We expect Hollywood in Nollywood. Fact is, Americas act about what's obtainable in their society, something Americans can relate with. It'll be a terrible mistake for us to pursue that line. Remaining original in our arts is key to our recognition. 4) A lot of people believe it's somewhat prestigious to say "ewww I don't watch Nigerian films" or "I don't listen to Nigerian songs". These people are just running after the bandwagon. Am I saying Nollywood isn't a messy? No. I'm saying we should be open minded. Praise them when they do well and criticize them when they mess up just like we do with Hollywood. Our movie industry has matured over time and it can only get better if/when we support them. If a movie is bad, call out that movie instead of shutting the door against the entire industry. If Americans did that to Hollywood in the days of their little beginnings, they wouldn't be here. |
But men are the ones killing themselves here. Just deal with it, this is brainlessness at its peak. If it were women fighting over a man, we'd all have a good laugh, call them olosho and talk about how women are thier own problem. Now, fellow men are at it but we still find a way to blame the women. Regardless of how hard we try to portray ourselves as the gender that has it in check, we must agree that stupidity knows no gender. Let's stop blaming everything on the complexity of the female folks and take responsibility. These guys are simply foolish. |
The personing filming and the OP are wicked. We all had our first time with any device so what's the point here? What's the pleasure in making others laughing stocks? How are you different from the white man who used the black man as a play object simply because he was more advanced? |
Nice |
babzo:Which one have you found? |
You're quick to call someone quack yet you're here typing "board maths". Paper maths nko? |
TheGiftedOne:Well, physical sciences are different from biological sciences. That said, I don't see how the garbage in, garbage out clause applies to this situation. |
Hhenryy:Not everyone would have the same body frame at old age. Pete has always been far more flashier. |
He's just aging and that's pretty much normal. |
masterflowx:Not to sound tribal but I thought you'd simply show support the way they did towards Amotokun... |
Davash222:Superiority complex! There's no way it should be. Let people do what works for them. If you like, ask your lady to roll on the floor before taking yours, it's your choice! |
