I guess there's a stage you get in your career you start leaving the stage for the younger ones after you. Rita Dominic, Chika Ike and many of the popular ones then, are not acting as much and are into other businesses.
Omoni Oboli on the other hand still acts, makes her own movies and is still happily married, but I think her own career didn't take off on time.
Mercy has other businesses she does, and even though she may love acting, the money has to be long before she follows it. Don't forget she also got a political appointment at some point from Kogi state. Same as Richard Mofe Damijo, Desmond Elliot etc.

She'll not be bashed. She'll not be called names like "smelly", "olosho", "snatcher" and other unprintable names Nairaland boys use. You know why? Cause she appears to have left her career to stay at home and breed kids; just the fate a typical Nairaland boy believes is ideal for a woman. Any other thing outside this is "olosho", "old woman", etc...

That said, I love Mercy Johnson. She's smart and I'm certain she knows what's best for herself. I just miss seeing her face in recent movies. Congrats mama!

What's all this about someone being irrelevant? People have their time and it's very unfair to use the expression "irrelevant" on an artist who's already making way in the industry. A better thing to say would be "not in his prime".

Dude, let's not bring religion into this. What I stated was about relationship between humans as it relates to domestic violence.

Back to the issue at hand, a second chance is great. Especially if both parties are willing to give it when one misbehaves. That's why I used the expression "order of the day" which means continuous. The OP's wife doesn't have a history of nagging, why didn't he condone this one and give her another chance? He came back in the middle of the night without prior calls and when the wife expressed dissatisfaction, he ignored her. When she continued, he beat her up. Only then did he know there was something called apology/explanation. And then we expect her to just cry and swallow it so that she'll be called a virtuous woman whose duty is to compromise. When something happens to her tomorrow, we will be here asking "why didn't she speak up?".

I believe both parties should learn the art of second chance. But I also believe victims of domestic violence should confide in someone. Someone needs to know the true narrative in case the story changes tomorrow. Who else to confide in if not the mother?

Separation is 100 times better than domestic violence. Asides its life threatening nature, children raised in homes where domestic violence is the order of the day are far more likely to constitute nuisance to society.
