Politics / Re: Pix Of Ibadan Flood by EuroMeko(m): 12:45am On Aug 29, 2011
OP, thanks for the great pictures. Please post more if you have them.

YoAdek333:

Seems to me a problem of garbage piling up on the roads thereby blocking any available drainage left rather than flooding due to rain alone. I wonder if Ibadan is one of the more dirty cities in Nigeria. Just because people are not rich does not mean they should be untidy and dirty. I have seen some of my fellow Nigerians in the EU and US looking good and sharp dressed in public but their home is dirty and untidy. No wonder the streets back home are messy and dirty. Clean up the streets first then we can worry about the floods later.

Thank you.

This palava is easily averted is the citizens simply start house by house, neighborhood by neighborhood, city by city, don;t wait fro the hapless government to come and assist.

Anyone that doesn't agree with you is a TV watcher. Okay I see.

I don't watch much TV, I listen to NPR on the radio (Google what NPR is, it's not my job to educate you).

I've also been to the Museum of Tolerance here in LA and saw pictures and videos of Hitlers atrocities.

So before you lump me into the clueless pile stop and have a think.

Anyways, good luck with your jihad against the will of the Libyan people. Let us know how it end for you and your "Brother" - lol

No Yeye4live, that is not the situation, what I mean is I find it difficult to read abbreviations, e.g. chino anyi's comments, and mind you I schooled in Lagos and I was tought queen's english right there in lagos one of the best Catholic schools then in the 70's and 80's so please bear with me, I cannot keep up with abbreviations.

I share your sentiments.

I ignore any post that is written in that most common idiotic manner. Very hard to read and comprehend.

I am pretty sure Hitlers henchmen can also rant off a few positive things he did. That should really make the Jews all warm and fuzzy. Right?

Another sheeple that knows nothing that is going on around him, Do we actually know who are the people rebelling against Gaddafi and why ? They are not majority of Libyans, These people said they got links to Alqaeda but we are condemning Boko Haram that also got links to them.
You did not highlight anything Gaddafi did wrong but all you typed here just showed the problem of the average human being, They cant read or think for themselves

Which of course excludes you, right?

I don't personally support NATO actions unilaterally but that doesn't mean that your Libyan Dude isn't deserving of the ass whooping he is getting.

This century seems to be the one where all evil doers gets their comeuppance and it's good. Others should take note.

In your Ghana example, the problem with people like you is you want a quick fix, so it took Ghana 50 years to become stable. In the same 50 years where is Nigeria?
Phones / Re: What Is So Special About The iPhone? by EuroMeko(m): 12:17pm On Aug 27, 2011
A good device is one that does what I want to accomplish with little fuss, for me it's an iPhone and always will be.

Are there other devices that can do some stuff better, cheaper, faster? Of course, such is the way of technology.
Family / Re: Advice Pls by EuroMeko(m): 10:00pm On Aug 26, 2011
I don't care about OP or her Husband, they are grown ups and will adjust, my only concern is the innocent chidlren.

OP, have you sat down and considered how this will affect his/her development?

Remember I haven't told you what to do, I only ask that you consider how this affects the innocent.

PS: By the way, maybe I'm in the minority but a Male emailing my Wife and saying Hi Love, is obviously unacceptable, but then I've been accused of bneing a knuckle dragging trioglodyte grin

I wish you the best for your family in the future but I don't think divorce is your answer.

PPS: It's clear now that NL is full of feminists, every single advice in this kind of situation always pegs the Male subject as the bad element. Be careful about advice's from here, even mine.

Sorry I never did cuz I'm too damn selective and love sampling my chick.

Yes but we all know Ladies always come up with their best behavior in the beginning.

The Lady you met is not typically the Lady you broke up with. Unless of course you are talking about beauty while I was talking more about character. For beauty of course one wouldn't date any ugly chick, even if one was drunk wink

They haven't made a potent enough beer yet.

But to each his own.

This is so sad and today I am ashamed to be a Nigerian.

Thanks to the educated folks on this thread that used good judgement in their commentary.

We still have a long way to go if we're still trying to hurt those that are helping.

Add both and you'll get a white American Lady. Duh!

No, Duh! doesn't cut it if you're going to be credible.

Where did you pull the American Lady from? It was not mentioned in the article.

Obviously you lack editorial etiquette if your best response includes Duh!
Politics / Re: NAPTIP investigates suspected American child trafficker by EuroMeko(m): 11:54am On Aug 26, 2011
Brand_new:

A white lady suspected to be a trafficker was attacked by a mob yesterday in Asokoro Abuja after she was found with 15 under aged children inside her vehicle.
An immigration officer who saw the woman raised an alarm, and when she refused to stop, he blocked her way and created a scene.
Many people, suspecting that the children were being trafficked, gathered around the van. When the woman was not responding to inquiries, they smashed the vehicle.
She was later handed over to the Asokoro Police Division by the Immigration officer.
A police source at the station confirmed the story and pleaded not to be named. He said the woman refused to talk saying she was mistreated when she was stopped and was said to be unhappy about it.
People were still gathered around the station at the time of filing this report. But the police were pleading with them to go home, saying investigation is already on.

Do you know what happens when u have 4 feet of now on the ground in the northeast? Folks dig themselves out and get to work by 8am as if nothing happened.

Not quite, it snows every year in the Grapevine though I am stretching a bit by using calling Grapevine and LA in the same geographical sentence. grin

Here in Cali we get those numerous times a year.

I didn't mean to sound like I support American companies in a blindfolded way, I don't purchase American made vehicles as a matter of automotive preference as an Autoist.

I was only laughing because you said you were comparing and stated a preference for a local small shrimp like South West to a international lobster like Delta. Not discounting your experience or opinion.
Travel / Re: Anyone Tried United Airlines? by EuroMeko(m): 7:45pm On Aug 23, 2011
You don't like United but you like SouthWest? That defubbles me but to each his, or as in this case, her own grin

I am not one to write to customer service and give praise but United flight from Atlanta to Lagos on 7/27 moved me to write to them.

The Customer Service in Los Angeles was normal LAX stuff (read shabby but that is LAX not United) but the flight crew from Atlanta to Lagos was the epitome of first class service (I was in coach), they were very attentive, responsive and very very friendly. The aircraft was very clean, well stocked and did not make any undue noises. The landing was extra smooth, in fact the landing crew used very little reverse thrust and brakes due to excellent approach skills (they must ply this route routinely), they were skilled is a skilled Aviators.

All that being said, on my return I was flown via Air France (paid for United) and much to my delight the flight from Paris to San Francisco was on the Airbus A380. Friends, if you ever get the opportunity to fly the A380, take it. AS an aviation buff, it was an honor for me to fly in that craft due to what it represents to the aviation industry.

Here's a video of us landing in SFO http://youtu.be/sjmMZGs-o2M

As an American (oh Dear God) I have to support companies that are based here, though their alliances is starting to muddy the water.

godfadda6:

I sat back and i was just reading what everyone was saying about united airline, well I work with United airline in Lagos, (don't ask for my email), as at October 2010, United airline merged with Continental airline making them the largest airline in the world, if in doubt try check www.google.com.

United started flying into Nigeria in December 13, 2010, with a B767-300 series aircraft, the route, LOS is being shared with ACC (accra) being a US carrier, and you know US is number 1 for security now (don't ask me how, I know) passengers deplane in ACC when the flights land in ACC either from the US or from LOS.

In November, Continental airline will be flying to LOS, a direct flight between lagos and Huston (LOS-IAH), they plan to bring the B787 dreamliner but due to delays it will operate B777 out of lagos in November (so watch out for that).

The reservation office in lagos (for now) is

Landover Aviation,
17, Simbitat Abiola way (computer village road)
ikeja,
01-2707551

so start making your travel plans early, hope we can please you, any information needed, please drop your question I will be more than glad to respond to it.

Typical Nigerian aloofness and short sightedness.

Omo forget story ooo. The mosquitoes in yankee are like 5 billion times the number in naija. Only difference is that they don't carry the malaria parasite and they usually don't breed in the cities. I was in south texas recently and if you see the size of the mosquitoes you go runnn. HUGE m***f***kers. You need to see mosquitoes chasing people during the day, BROAD DAYLIGHT. At least naija mosquitoes go still follow you play hide and seek or shina rambo for night. The ones in south texas are VICIOUS.

All the spraying of insecticide is just nonsense.

I can attest to this as I unfortunately have to admit to have lived in God forsaken Texas for 4 years.

The Mosquitoes there are definitely huger but they don't feed on humans, the Chiggers, now those bites hard.

PS: everything is huge in Texas.

Hey Abbey, thanks for your prompt response.

Can you put me in touch with your Realtor so I can make further inquiries?

My email is in my profile in case you prefer to email.

PS: Ten acres is good enough to start with, bravo. Reserve your funds for operating costs. Once you start producing and get a healthy sales outlet then you can start farming in hectares.
Programming / Re: End Of The Pc Era? by EuroMeko(m): 11:05pm On Aug 22, 2011
I'm not a developer, just a high end user though I manage a large scale data center.

Between my iPad and iPhone, I have been using my iMac very little. When I need to do anything Windows intensive I use my NetBook.

Corporate wise, we've been migrating end users to thin PC.

HP leaving the market is not a biggie, a Chinese company will slide in there. Dell is still a strong runner as is Lenovo and Apple.

I was thinking of building a media center around Windows PC but then I purchased a PS3 and that took care of that need.
