Ihatemumu:It was "man" who decided to construct or create a picture of Jesus. We, Christians, were told not to make any "graven images....etc." We should not be having an "alleged illustration" of the Savior. However, "man-kind", with many of us not being truly led by the spirit of God, decided to cause confusion within the religion. I do understand, though, how the color "white" has always been promoted by sinful "MAN" (under the spirit of satan) as pure and innocent and the color "black" as evil and dangerous. I get that. However, for followers of Christ, it should matter NOT what color skin He had/has. All that matters is the blood He spilled for a sinner saved by His grace....which was red....a color we humans all possess. This fixation with race/color/ethnicity has probably been satan's #1 or #2 most ingenius method of capturing and keeping people forever stuck in his clutches...not realizing their need of surrender/confession, and repentance and to the Lord. Even there in Nigeria, (from reading through tons of articles right here on N.L., and through reading interactions between members here, bigotry against tribes and religions is just as horrific, paralyzing and debilitating as racism is here in the U.S. See, the enemy doesn't care at all HOW he keeps one possessed by him, just as long as one is. If people would truly start analyzing this world and its circumstances through spiritual lenses..(and I don't mean through superstition and fanaticism), it would probably put things in a much better perspective. All of the drawings and pictorials that I have seen of satan show him as a red, 2-legged, 2-horn headed, pitch-fork holding, long-tailed creature. I have never associated him with being black. I am curious to know just exactly what the "real truth of Africa" is in terms of religion? Cause I'm not quite sure that it was only indigenous, traditional religion being practiced before the "white man" colonizers... |
ikorodureporta:Well, I know it seems odd, but "no" I haven't. I have learned about the mega-churches in Nigeria (popular pastors) right here on this section. They seem to be the predominate churches that are written about. I, then, go to YouTube and research some of them more..listen to a little of their sermons. I've learned the abbreviations for the most popular churches. I almost feel like a "pro" now.... The "mega-church" prosperity phenomenon is huge here in the U.S. However, the Nigerian "mega-church" prosperity brand of Christianity differs in some ways. I remember when I first joined N.L. and didn't know who Pastor Adeboye was. A guy said, "You mean you don't HIM?" He was genuinely shocked. I would like to learn about the smaller and lesser known types of Nigerian churches though. |
I like this question. The name of Jesus is the most effective name in my life....and I say that sincerely and from experience. I looked at your earlier OP and while I've never heard of that church (for obvious reasons) and I'm not sure about the nuances of that church ceremony--the heart of the people-- or the truth of the alleged pics, I can say this about my Lord: Matthew 6:24 (KJV) 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. About the effectiveness of the name Jesus: Luke 8:27-29 (KJV) 27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. 29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) Even the demons know the effectiveness of Jesus' name....although "man" may not. Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV) 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father |
MODIFIED (I missed the "cat" part). DISCLAIMER: I do believe that evil forces exist and folks get mixed up into witchcaft, the occult etc....has to exist since there is "good" and "evil". However, I'm not gonna agree with the "break-down" of the word --especially the "cat" part. That is bordering on superstition...associating animals with evil...or human beings which I don't subscribe to. While the word "cult" may be quite harsh or offensive, what the OP listed about the church is factual and accurate. There are characteristics that "cults" must have in order to be deemed one....and sometimes we label falsely...not saying that the OP is right or wrong in his use of the word. What the OP should offer is hope and an alternative. Labeling something "false" or negative, yet not providing an alternative really doesn't accomplish much. My particular denomination (imperfect as it is right now) has been labeled a "cult" since its inception... and made me somewhat nervous at first...and with a few doubts before I eventually knew that I was to get baptized into it as a young adult. But I also wasn't basing my feelings on biblical "facts", but rather "hear-say". So I understand the problems that come with trying to "de-program" a person's belief (whether sincere or in ignorance). However, many of the doctrines of the Catholic church, do not line up with the Lord God's biblical instructions for living and worshiping Him. In fact, many of her doctrines are almost the exact opposite of the Bible. The church's ruthless and dogmatic history is extremely problematic also. I say this with love and no harshness; but the truth has to be told. Perhaps (and I don't fully know because I am not in the head of the person who wrote this) the OP is listing these things as issues to look at for sincere Christians who sense the Holy Spirit gently speaking to them....showing them errors that may affect their spiritual lives. Showing them a path that leads to all truth....and to a genuine relationship with Christ. Get to know Him. The problem is the papal "institution" itself...not so much the sincere, Christians who are worshipping the Lord with all of their heart that identify with the denomination...and don't know anything different. Tradition can be a "beast" sometimes. A few people on this section need to see this thread... |
Excess3code:Well, let me phrase it like this: A Christian can choose to do whatever he/she likes, however it may not line up to the biblical guidelines. The model that was set from the very beginning of the Creation account is the following: Genesis 2: 20-24 (KJV) 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. 21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. So to the poster above me, "yes" it is definitely in the Bible. The Lord oftentimes, shows through and by "example" what His plan of life is. We, erring, finite, sinful humans come in and decide to adjust God's standard and then justify it by any means necessary. The problem is with mankind-not God. Three examples of Godly men who will be in the Kingdom of God (yet who made fleshly relationship non-God ordained choices) are Abraham, King David and King Solomon...which you may want to study in the Bible. All three in some way or another transgressed God's standard of marriage by making fleshly choices. Those choices weren't ordained by God..but He did not step in and stop these men from desiring to do what they had the "freewill" to do. Repentance was needed later...which these men apparently partook in. The consequences, however, of those guys' choices were felt through their bloodlines...even till today. So I think the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel ordained the best functioning of a family to be within the confines of "1" husband and his "1" wife...with children if possible. Other religions choose to practice polygamy...which is their decision, but those who follow the biblical Christianity are limited to "1" man and "1" woman at a time. |
ThePlainTruth:In an effort not to further derail the intent of the thread, I will post (2) biblically and historically sound videos on Daniel 2...connecting the past with the present and future prophetic events in earth's history. For those who do not wish to click on the links, the info is there but I will write some of it. Thank you sir or ma'am for your contribution to this thread....which actually is extremely important, although I don't know what your intent was. Please also try to view the videos. To those searching, please always sincerely pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you to all truth. Daniel 2-Gary Kent (The Incredible Journey) Approx. 30 min. Ancient Bible Prophecy-Daniel 2 (Pastor Mark Finley) Approx. 1hr 10 min. |
ThePlainTruth:Revelation 3:21 (KJV) "To him who overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in His throne." Revelation 3:21 refers to the "New Jerusalem" -Revelation 21:1, where God the Father and Jesus Christ will reign eternally. In terms of Daniel 2:44, the passage was referring to Daniel's divinely inspired interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream of the statue. ..which reflected 4 kingdoms: Babylon Medo-Persia Greece Rome The final Kingdom of God will crush all the earthly kingdoms....and last eternally...meaning no human powers can destroy it. Prophetically speaking, we are in the toes of the statue right now...all the 3 other kingdoms have come and gone...Rome, however, is about to be healed...and back in complete power as she used to be in the middle ages....this is her role prophetically. All of this can be verified historically and even up to current events. Daniel and Revelation run concurrently in terms of prophetic events. Neither the prophet Daniel nor John the Revelator got any of the interpretations wrong. There was "0" contradiction on what they revealed prophetically. |
ThePlainTruth:Yes....which is the kingdom of God ( the only kingdom which cannot be destroyed) where Christ Jesus will reign by His side. Revelation 3:21 (KJV) "To him who overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in His throne." |
chukwunweikeemi:Yes, salvation (in and of itself) is a gift through Jesus' blood and righteousness. There is absolutely nothing we can do to "earn" it...correct. However, no one is "once saved, always saved." That gift can be lost though. Those who love Christ and believe in Him and accept His sacrifice, will in part do "good works" because they are saved...not to "be saved". Do not misunderstand me please. I am not advocating a "works-based" faith. The true sign of a follower of Christ is the manifestation of fruit of the Holy Spirit in a repentant, converted life. A repentant sinner will not willfully continue in sin. Those that willfully continue in sin and are unrepentant , YET claim belong to Christ and be headed for the kingdom regardless, are tremendously deceived and are headed for hellfire. They will not be saved. |

Hi to all, I just wanted to share "2" more videos that may answer the questions of those here searching for the truth. There is a ton of information out that concerning last day events to usher in Jesus' second coming. Please be sincerely prayerful, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth..regardless of how it may look. The Lord would not have you confused, surprised, misled or ignorant about His love for you...including all things that must prophetically occur before He returns. Please forgive me for adding just 1 more video. I know that the video I add is of extreme importance. So that will bring my total of videos posted here to "4" instead of my initial "3". I modified my initial statement also. Again, it is my sincere hope that you will somehow be able to view the "20" episode Revelation series....and be tremendously blessed/encouraged with what the Lord has to say concerning His soon coming. Episode 9 "Bewitching Spirits" Episode 15 "Marked for Death" |
toyinaremu:I have been blessed by several of your threads over the past few years...and believe them to be divinely inspired. Thank you for letting the Lord Jesus having used and continue to use you mightily. Happy Birthday... |
"EARTH'S LAST EMPIRE" Episode 2 The last video that I want to share will be posted soon... Remember it's a "20" episode series.. |
So I'm really excited to share this "20" episode series on the Book of Revelation, entitled, REVELATION NOW presented by Pastor Doug Batchelor, also President of "Amazing Facts". The series, which was done live on October 25-November 14, 2020, biblically addresses the unprecedented, turbulent and challenging times that we are now facing. I had last year, on my "Testimonies" thread, recommended that people hear his-Pastor Doug's (along with 2 other guys') testimony. I, several years ago, went to a Revelation prophecy seminar which changed my life. I am extremely impressed to share this here..for someone. God knows who you are. Warning: the presentations are about 1 and 1/2 hours, but they are all on YouTube. You can alao go on the RevelationNow.com website to view from there and get other resources. I sincerely pray that you will be blessed, surrender to Jesus and get ready for His soon return. 1st Presentation "REVELATION'S COMING RAPTURE" Episode #1 |
obonujoker:Thanks for the mention. Short answer: those who have made their calling and election for Christ sure. Those who chose Christ, lived and/or died obediently for Him and were ultimately saved. I'd like to put this video down for those who (feel comfortable clicking) and would like to explore the topic further. It's around 28 minutes or so. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBdsrlRLShc |
enilove:Yes sir....I do. Good morning I addressed my thoughts towards Christians and our election on my thread: https://www.nairaland.com/6244948/sincere-christians-place-eyes-back#95871569 I will say that it would be the better choice of the two to lean towards a candidate that more accurately reflects one's views. However, there is a very slippery slope to walk when church and state ARE NOT separated....which should have been the case...from the beginning. Some aspects of government and "religion" just aren't gonna comfortably co-exist. |
enilove:I don't know the politicians in Nigeria...never lived there. I can only speak about the ones here in the U.S. I just looked at your title and read through your thread to see you bashing Christians or what I perceived it as. I don't know that it's really a politician's obligation to bring people to Christ. Maybe sometimes a Christian shouldn't be in certain positions anyhow cause it directly conflicts with certain convictions... I think it's a Christian's obigation to bring people to Christ....but it has to be done in a wise manner. Perhaps we should pray for those in governmental positions to renew their relationships with Christ....and live a life daily that will cause people to enquire about why the person is in a peaceful/joyful mind-set daily. |
DappaD:Ok....thank you. |
IfIPerishIPeris:Ok...thank you. |
Perhaps you should say "some" instead of a blanket statement which would include "all" of only "1" religion. Not "1" religion, be it true or false, has a perfect set of people in it. I have yet to see it....cause it doesn't exist. Agents of darkness have been scattered throughout each and every religion or lack thereof.... Please be fair...thanks. |
DappaD:Ok...so you are or aren't a Christian? I also didn't understand fully what you typed. The book of Revelation states that the earth as we know it, will be destroyed and made anew. If you accept/say "yes", and give me a few days, I can suggest a biblical presentation which will help you understand the Book of Revelation.... You won't then be confused with scripture verses as the one you stated above. If you'd like it, please let me know. I, as well, don't argue over scripture.... |
IfIPerishIPeris:I apologize and meant no disrespect nor do I intend to argue. You are my Christian brother...I believe.....however sometimes "we" as Christians don't always understand scripture passages. No one in his/her right mind, wants to go through any sort of tribulations/trials or even death. No one likes uncomfortable situations... Yet never did Jesus promise us a smooth, trouble-free life. We get to experience it all as soldiers on this earthly journey. The Bible (not myself) states in Revelation that the saints will have to go through something just as the Christians in the Dark Ages, the disciples and apostles did, and modern Christians living in non-friendly Christian countries do... Yes, Christ died for me...and I owe Him everything...which is a life surrendered and obedient to Him...regardless of what earthly consequences may occur. I can't change what the Bible says.... |
DappaD:Not at all. The scriptures explain the 2nd Coming in Revelation....the book of prophecy regarding the end times of earth's history. |
DappaD:Not sure if you are a Christian or not, but I am in the tiny minority here about that word you bolded. It doesn't exist in the bible...the word "rapture" or "secret rapture". Hollywood got in the bible and interpreted it the way it wanted to....regarding an alleged "secret rapture". There will be no secret rapture....as shockingly as that may seem to the majority of the Christian world. Matthew 24:37(KJV) 37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Many well-meaning Christians just don't understand this event... Actually, below is one of the scriptures (that you posted above) that is difficult for people to understand and describes what will occur after the great tribulation. People will be "caught up", but as far as the actual word "rapture" being in the Bible..it doesn't exist. 1 Thessalonians 4:17 (KJV) 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. The words "caught up" are presumed to mean "rapture". |
Of course we don't know the exact date of Christ' second coming, but we are given scripture to help us recognize "events" or "signs of the times" clearer. A series of events has to occur on this earth...the time of tribulation (which even God's people will have to go through) will have to occur before Christ comes to redeem us. Prayer and study of the Word can more fully help one who may be confused about this. Probation (meaning death) could close anyday for anyone since we don't know exactly when we will die. It's best we live each day having our salvation sure....telling others about the Lord and knowing who we belong to and living obediently to Him. |
He looks so cute. Such a handsome boy....which I already stated before. What I love is how happy he looks...as if he doesn't know what happened although it's forever digitally stamped. I can't believe that he was wondering around for so long as a little baby.....that's just so incomprehensible to me! Will never be able to understand that. Anyhow, he seems to have such a personality already! Just ready for the life he's intended to have. May he always know that he's forever protected and loved. |
Let me say that I appreciate you allowing me a chance to comment on your thread... I like what you have done here...which is the beauty of true Christianity. You have quoted several people of faith, a number of them whom I am unfamiliar with, yet they have mostly made some powerful statements about the Word of God, prayer, the Holy Spirit, being used by God etc., While I may not agree with all of some of the doctrines taught by those of them here who I "do" know, there is a foundational agreement ultimately on the power of who Christ is in a believer's life. That I can truly respect. Ok, now I will be quiet from now on...and silently read the future quotes. |
This was an interesting and very long piece. Not a bad piece, but I must point something out. I hope that I'm not offending this OP, BUT a "woman" in bible prophecy="church". The specific verses that you referenced in Revelation 2:20-24, were referring to one of the seven churches, Thyatira, and the corruption that had infiltrated the church through the "Jezebelic" (Satanic) doctrine...which included the acceptance of sexual immorality amongst other things. Seduction does not always refer to a person-on-person contact... Revelation 2:18-25 (KJV) [b]18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; 19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. 20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. 21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. 22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. 24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. 25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. "Seduction" in those verses wasn't necessarily referring to a literal woman seducing Godly men. It was a doctrines of devils that had crept into that church's once biblically-sound doctrines. The Lord is stating what will happen to those who keep perverting the gospel in His name...deliberately, but give grace to those who are new converts and to those who will repent. The "Jezebelic" spirit is not gender specific...as I'm sure you know. However, it looks like you started off pointing that out, but then went full blast on only a woman seductress for the rest of this piece. It was like you were focused solely on women being the perpetrators and the men being the innocent, Godly victims. Men seducers are just as plentiful.....and probably even craftier than women at times.... I think the enemy does not care whom he uses, just as long as his plans are accomplished regarding a child of God. I don't dispute that Delilah had a "jezebelic" spirit..she did and was used ultimately by the enemy. I think it would've been more palatable had you written from the standpoint of a child of God being seduced....and kept it gender neutral. |
I am working on Igbo...for obvious reasons. I am working on my numbers, letters, and basic phrases. The alphabet is kinda difficult (for example pronouncing (2) consonants together--or the one consonant being silent--"gb"--) I've gotta work harder on that, but I'm loving the numbers. |
Dtruthspeaker:I guess I just am having difficulty with the Steve Jobs/I-phone analogy..... I think I get the other part...thanks. |
kpas4kpas2:I saw this thread a week or so ago, and told myself that I would comment if it came back up again. Interestingly enough, here it is. Now this may tender me yet another ban, but this will be worth it. I don't know what may be going on here between you and the accusations leveled against you by the poster above me, but I would kindly like to request something of you sir. Please be respectful of the words you posted above that I quoted. Those are serious words and don't need to be lightly written. Whether you were being sincere or not, I am asking that you not mock God, a denomination or its prophetess. If you choose to quote a messenger's words, please do so with respect...and not attach her with whatever gigs you have going on....based on your other numerous threads that I have seen on your profile. That's all I am asking. Whatever outside "business or lack thereof agenda" is going on here is not any of my business. However, I feel the need to speak since I (practically am the only one on the site who has posted from E.G. White in several of my threads..and that makes me look suspect). I sense that this thread wasn't created genuinely..although all that you "cut and paste" is very correct. Words of advice: If you want to create a sincere or informative thread about the Sabbath and/quote a book, come to this section during the week and add meaningful posts or comments....show some dedication to what you posted as you do with your Agricultural threads/posts. Thanks for your time sir...and no disrespect meant. Happy Sabbath to you since it is already sunset there in Nigeria--12/18/20... May you sincerely receive an unexpected blessing...if you are serious and want to surrender to Christ. |
