Christianity EtcRe: Should Church Share Condoms To People? Drop Your View Here. by EvilBrain1(m):
andyanders: It could be that they wanted to preach about the use of condoms by youths and why it should not be used as abstinence is the only way out rather than depending on condom which is equally a sin when you are not married.
Abstinence is not the only way out because abstinence doesn't work. This has been comprehensively proven beyond all reasonable doubt. Study after study shows that abstinence only education hardly delays sexual activity among teenagers and makes them more likely to not use condoms and therefore get pregnant or catch a disease. Its actually better to not provide sex education at all than to tell teenagers that the only or best option is to abstain. Even pastors can't abstain talk less of hȯrny teenagers who are curious about sex. Abstinence is only useful for hypocrites who value the appearance of holiness over actually doing what is right or what works.

Condoms work. There is no doubt about it. When used properly, they prevent unwanted pregnancies and stop the spread of HIV and all the major STIs. Anybody who discourages the widespread use of condoms is doing evil and contributing to the death of thousands.

What your religion says is irrelevant. We are talking about reality here.

robian1: dude take several seats!!!! you can't use the action of some sinful people in the church to condemn the whole church!! if you put it that way then what about the fake pastors in the Protestant churches? that means being a Protestant is evil!! please go and sit down! you can repost when you have a meaningful point
The pȇdophilia scandal is not so much about the actions of the pȇdophile priests themselves. It is more about the fact that the Catholic church as an organisation was systematically protecting the molesters, covering up their activities and allowing them to continue raping children. The senior catholic hierarchy were all aware of what was happening and for decades, they participated in the conspiracy. There is a mountain of evidence implicating your "pope emeritus" Joseph Ratzinger as the de-facto leader of the plot and he is now hiding in the Vatican to avoid prosecution for his crimes. The soon to be saint John Paul II protected and promoted pȇdophiles throughout his reign. Countless archdiocese all over the world have been implicated in covering up child abuse allowing pȇdophile to extend their careers for decades and retire in comfort.

The church has shown no respect for the children who were being abused, their parents or its lay membership. It is a normal thing for them to post a known pȇdophile to a parish full of children without even thinking of warning the parents or limiting the pervert's access to children. Parents who find out their children have been molested get pressured into keeping quiet about it. Those who refuse get shunned. The church's only priority has always been to protect itself and its priests no matter how many innocent children have to suffer as a result.

Make no mistake, it is the church itself that is evil. There can be pȇdophiles in any organisation. But the only one that protects, pampers and makes life easy for them is the Roman Catholic Church.

mcfynest: depends on what the condoms are use for..... it may be a marriage seminar and a talk on family planning
Married couples rarely use condoms. There are better means of contraception more suited to them.

Condoms are for people who are worried about STIs and HIV ie those with multiple sexual partners or those who are not in long term relationships.

People always think the moral issue with condoms is the unmarried sex, but they are wrong. The moral issue is with being willing to allow people to suffer and die from horrible diseases just so you can push your religious agenda. If you more worried about people having sex without consequences than you are about the spread of HIV then you are a bad person and you need to do some serious self examination.

Christianity EtcRe: Is The Catholic Church Evil? by EvilBrain1(m): 5:00pm On Sep 22, 2013
One of the major reasons people think it's evil is that the Catholic church is the world's largest child rȃpe organisation by a huge margin. The church itself admitted to having 4,392 confirmed child molesting priests in the US alone as at 2002. Not only do they allow their employees to rȃpe children, they also provide a safe haven for them, help rapists move around different parishes whenever they are caught, they pressurise and settle victims and family members to keep them quiet, and have been systematically covering up child rȃpe cases for at least 60 years. Of those 4,392 molesters, only about 5% of them had ever been convicted thanks to the cover-up. Most continued to practice as priests with full access to children for years after the church was first notified of their abuses.

The church is basically just a criminal organisation specializing in child rȃpe nowadays. and this is a world wide problem. I personally know people who have admitted to me that they were abused by priests as children right here in Nigeria. We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

But If you don't see anything wrong with child rȃpe, I guess the church is okay.

The local newspaper where the guy was caught is reporting that he had been transferred at least 15 times since he has ordained in 1988. We all know about the catholic church's policy of shuffling molesters around to make them harder to detect. 15 transfers in such a short period strongly suggests that they did the same thing with this guy.

I wonder what other dirty details are going to emerge form this case.

Uyi Iredia: @ Evil Brain: Not all doctors are like the ones you mention, many are religious, open about it, and you especially should know that.
Correct, which is why I wrote this:

... you get to see first hand the uselessness of prayer. It's hard not to start having doubts by the 10,000th time you see an hours long prayer session lead by a visiting pastor end without result.

...Most of my colleagues who are still religious make sure that they keep their religion at home while at work. And when they are counselling patients, you'd be amazed at how atheistic they sound. People actually think I'm the one that's a Christian.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that you took "The medical profession makes you more likely to be an atheist" to mean "All doctors are atheists, no exceptions!!!". That's the kind of over simplistic, black and white thinking that you are known for.

In case you still don't get my point, what I meant was that not all doctors are atheists. However, the medical profession forces you to confront the realities of life; and dangles the lies and absurdities religion peddles in front of your eyes constantly so you can't ignore them. Therefore, doctors are more likely to be atheists or at least harbour suspicions about religion which they may or may not voice out.

Happy?

An pastor in Los Angeles, USA was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping over 20 female members of his church over a period of 8 years.

Form CNN.com

From praying to preying? Pastor accused of rǟping his parishioners

It would not be surprising for an associate pastor to pray with his parishioners.
But Jorge Juan Castro wound up preying on them instead, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said Friday. He is accused of rǟping more than 20 women, many of whom are Spanish-speaking, undocumented immigrants.
The alleged abuse began in October 2004, shortly after Castro took a job as associate pastor at Las Buenas Nuevas Church in Norwalk, and continued until September 2012, the department said in a news release.
Castro was arrested last Friday at his home in Norwalk and was being held in Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $2 million bail.
The allegations came to light when the women, ages 18 to 39, implicated Castro to a third party who then told detectives, authorities said.
The alleged incidents began in October 2004 and continued until September 2012.
During that time, Castro was working as an associate pastor and counselor at Las Buenas Nuevas Church in Norwalk, the department said.
"The suspect allegedly preyed upon the victims' vulnerability," the news release said. "He did this by invoking fear by threatening to tell the victims if they reported him he would have the victims deported, while additionally threatening to expose the victims to public embarrassment and ridicule."
Castro was booked on an arrest warrant listing six felony charges of rǟpe, oral copulǟtion and penetration by a foreign object, authorities said.
Detectives from the county's Special Victims Bureau were asking for help from the public in identifying any other possible victims.
Yet another example of religious leaders using their position to take advantage of their followers. These stories are becoming far too common.
Christianity EtcRe: How Will The World Look Without Religion Or Belief In God by EvilBrain1(m):
Religion has held mankind back, no doubt about it. Christianity is probably the worst culprit, but all religions waste peoples time and energy and distract them from doing things that actually benefit them, their families and society.

All the progress mankind has made in the last few centuries has been because we're managed to strip the pastors, imams and witch doctors of all real authority. Nowadays those in power govern strictly by atheistic principles even though they themselves may not be atheists. You don't see any serious minded political leader consulting with prophets or pastors any more (except maybe in Nigeria, but then I said serious minded). Nobody sacrifices animals to prevent disasters, or spends money on churches, mosques or temples expecting that to help anybody other than the pastors and imams (except again, in Nigeria). Serious societies all function under the assumption that there is no god, devil or spirits.

And it is working

Sincere 9gerian: There may have been collateral damage but SR is in no position to determine who is a member of Boko Haram and who is not.
He who alleges must prove. If the authorities were sure enough to gun these people down, they should be able to show us the evidence that convinced them. You can't be expecting corpses or their grieving families to start defending themselves after you've already shot them. The principle is "innocent until proven guilty". Since the authorities haven't shown any evidence that they were BH members, or found any weapons or bomb making materials, then they are innocent.

Otherwise, they could just shoot anybody including you and claim afterwards that nobody can prove that you weren't Boko Haram.

The woman had been lifting weights before she got pregnant so its perfectly safe. The worst thing that could happen is that it'll induce labour, but she's 2 weeks to term so no big deal if the baby comes out a little early.

Besides, look at the tiny weights she's carrying. Looks like 45kg total, at most. Even her unborn baby could probably lift that.
PoliticsHow Security Agents Killed Innocent Squatters In Abuja Instead Of Boko Haram by EvilBrain1(op):
Nigerian security agents allegedly killed eight innocent civilians yesterday in a purported raid against an uncompleted building said to be occupied by Book Haram members.

From Saharareporters.com

SaharaReporters can authoritatively confirm that the eight persons shot and killed by Nigerian
security agents in Abuja today were in no way linked to the dreaded Boko Haram sect as claimed by
the spokesperson of the Nigerian secret police, Marilyn Ogar.
The scene of the massacre was an uncompleted building at Bamanga Tukur Street in the Apo
Legislative Quarters.
Seventeen of those who survived the pre-dawn onslaught by uniformed men of the Joint Task Force
(JTF) spoke to us on their hospital beds in Abuja, all of them vehemently denying being members of
Boko Haram.
One of the survivors said they are day labourers who work in the city to make ends meet, and later
squat in uncompleted buildings by paying the guards attached to those buildings. This morning, he
said, they were woken up by a surprising hail of bullets from the uniformed soldiers.
Providing some background, he disclosed that an emissary of an army general had given them a five-
day quit notice but that today’s slaughter was carried out before they could move from the building.
SaharaReporters saw sleeping mats and cooking utensils belonging to the squatters as well as blood
splattered on the walls of the building from the unusual attack on innocent civilians by the Nigerian
military claiming to be fighting Boko Haram.
Nigerian security agents insist that they killed the civilians after they first came under attack while
trying to dig out weapons hidden underground by the insurgents, but one of the injured squatters told
SaharaReporters categorically that the soldiers fled the scene after finding out they had killed
innocent civilians.
“It was after the attack that some policemen and the SSS came to the scene and even tried to help
those of us that survived to get to hospital,” he said
The Nigerian government has often been accused of killing innocent people in its purported fight against Boko Haram extremists. Killing innocents increases anti-government sentiment and makes it easier for Boko Haram to recruit members.

Discuss.

PoliticsRe: Suspect Dies In Custody & Is Buried Without Family Consent by EvilBrain1(m): 2:10am On Sep 20, 2013
Autopsies are mandated by law for anyone who dies in state custody. The prison authorities have broken the law by burying him without one. In a sane country, this would be investigated and somebody in the prisons service will go to jail.

Of course, this is Nigeria so nothing will happen. The police whose job it is to investigate have plenty of reasons not to interfere when a sister agency is trying to cover up a suspicious death.

My advise to the family is to exhume the man, hire their own private pathologist to do an autopsy and release the results to the press. The only way to get any justice in Nigeria is to embarrass the government into action.
