I feel a poll should be conducted over if Nigeria should split or not - I know there are enough people who would appreciate an Oodua Republic - I love my Yoruba people!
That has been done so many times, but the owner of the site is too frightened so he either fixes the votes or changes the poll.

Who?

Even better:

"Educational attainment: Women (no education)

North Central 35.5%
North East  68.1%
North West 74.2% (wow)
South East 6.3%
South South 6%

South West 12%"

"Men

North Central 15.4%
North East 45%
North West 40.7%
South East 0.9% (wow)
South South 2.3%

South West 5.2%"

Makes me wonder what would have happened if Lagos and Abuja weren't capitals at one point.
PoliticsRe: Ojukwu - The Economist by ezeagu(m): 7:39pm On Dec 02, 2011
Though he was himself an Ibo and a lieutenant-colonel in the army, he had not been involved in this Ibo-led plot, nor, less surprisingly, did he take part in the second coup, six months later, which was led by northerners. He was a federalist, which is to say he believed in keeping Nigeria as a federal state.
Bookmarked!

The colonel was clever and more educated than his counterparts, which may have been why he would not defer to his antagonist, Lieut-Colonel Yakubu Gowon, the federal supreme commander; or perhaps he was just proud and obstinate, as his critics had it.
Bookmarked!

At the time, though, Biafra still seemed to offer the prospect of a country better run than most others in Africa, and the fears of genocide were certainly well founded.
Bookmarked!

Use of Insecticide-Treated Nets

North Central 4%
North East 4%
North West 4%
South East 11%
South South 9%
South West 5%

Nigeria's average: 6%

Again, every region apart from the "south south" is half of the south east. The only test failed is violence, and by failed I mean the south east matched the average. All this with no foreigner filled former capital. It seems the south east are more health conscious (or more enlightened?) so their health rates will obviously be lower than regions that don't have adequate check ups, for example the HIV testing, where 1/4 of south easts young women are getting their proper check up, which gives it a higher HIV rate than Nigeria's tiny 1/10. The same can be said for the Infant mortality rate (the south east has the highest Births assisted by a skilled provider).

Nigeria is holding people back.
My own take on the matter is that the SW is the best zone, aside from the oil-rich SS.

Either #1 or #2 in each of the following statistics:
Higher GDP, GDP per capita, life expectancy, IGR, literacy rates, JAMB pass rates, JAMB take rates

Couple this with the migration we see to this zone, indicators like construction projects we see on sites like Skyscraper city, # of banks, reports like the following (http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2011/12/01/honda-place-opens-in-ibadan/), etc, and the picture becomes pretty clear.

Then again, this isn't anything new, I suppose.

Prior to the discovery and large-scale production of oil in Nigeria, Yorubaland was also the wealthiest part of Nigeria.
In this thread, we're trying to back things up with accurate trustworthy sources.

Ekiti is the 2nd lowest in Nigeria period, it seems.

In fact, this PDF is making me sad, certain regions are misrepresenting other regions. How can 23% of the south east's women be doing their duties and getting HIV tests regularly, yet Nigeria's overall percentage of those getting HIV tests is only 7%. South east teenage child bearing is 8%, yet Nigeria's average is 23%, south east vaccinations coverage is 43%, Nigeria 23%.

Holding people back!
