PropertiesRe: Is Tejuosho Market Yaba A Waste? by Fawklicant: 11:04pm On Jan 03, 2016
persius555:
These are the grey sides of the BRF's elitist approach to solving issues that affects millions of lagosians. The shops should have been made affordable so that the former tenants could easily retain them.
Another investment gone down the drain.
Exactly. If they were built in such a way that some previous owners would be able to afford them without much fuss, they'd be better off. Even in many developing countries you still see markets in segments, some with collapsible stalls, lock up kiosks e.t.c for those retailers of low value commodities or certain food items. In 'modern' Nigerian markets, no considerations are made for the women selling pepper and other small roadside commodities and they will continue to be an integral part of the market system. When provisions are not made for them, tbey will always end up by the roadside and we all know the implication of that in relation to traffic, e.t.c.
PropertiesRe: Is Tejuosho Market Yaba A Waste? by Fawklicant: 10:46pm On Jan 03, 2016
Next time LASG will think twice before sending touts to burn any market to effect a forced eviction. Imagine the revenue from taxes that they have missed out on for several years. Huge revenue. Some traders tbere were relocated to Ojota but that idea was DOA. That place is like a cemetary...empty. I wonder what happened to all the planned evictions and relocation of businesses from computer village to lagos-Ibadan expressway and Alaba int'l to... huh

I guess Yaba's issue is still a steep learning slope for them. They didnt envisage the rapid expansion of more modern retail outlets like shoprite, spar, pep store e.t
c. These modern chains kindah negate the need for an outrageously priced market space like the tejuosho market.

dancewith:
It's very disturbing the way we do selective arguments in Nigeria. We can write in support of the indefensible simply because of our political and other leanings and has unwholesome fellowship of like minds even in the face of obvious dishonesty and lies

In the case of Dasuki the judge clearly prohibited all security agencies from rearresting him, a fact that is public and part of the judgement yet Barcanister, in his haste to achive a prejudiced intention, conveniently quoted the portion of the judgment which he seeks to use, knowing full well most people are not going to research this and believe whatever he said to be factual

It is all well and good to prosecute people and uphold the constitution but same must be done within laid down rules and judicial principles. Without some of the reforms introduced in our electoral and political processes by the last administration, I doubt the present government would have been where they are. Under the obasanjo government the chances of an opposition party winning at the centre was almost non existent. We all know how elections conducted then were

The point is we must shun a system where the executive tries to take away the gains we have made as a society and takes us back to the dark ages where political, judicial and clanish success are completely predetermined and controlled by the executive and meted out to those they seek to reward or punish

We the governed should try to be apolitical and demand the government toes the path of the law rather than an illogical display of support even in the face of stone age and draconian tendencies simply because such Present tendencies are targeted at those we hate. There is a reason our forefathers insisted on the courts and laid down processes. If there wasn't such the present government surely won't be where they are now
Dont waste your ink on barcanista, he is trying to port back again stylishly. He is missing out on all the goodies all the other e-rats are enjoying now and wants to creep his way back in. Let him be, don't knock his hustle. He will first try to sound like he is a fair judge, then the leftist leanings will blossom from there. Hustle on bro!

I remembered that some people also promised to form a parrllel government. Just wondering if we have different laws for different people or are we being hypocritical with the TRUTHhuh
And the same man claiming saintly status now also committed treason wen he incited his followers to violence in 2011 and also threatened blood of baboon and dogs. But no! That is not treasonable felony, its his fundamental right of expression! Mtschewww! Hypocrisy of the highest sort.

@Tonyebarcarnista, I get it that you do not like Mr. kanu, in fact I believe you hate him with a passion as demonstrated in the past by your posts, but separate sentiments from your judgements and you'd try to see more clearly.

I only blame GEJ for not arresting the mad man from Daura in 2011. He was just tring to let peace reign.

I lost money severally even as a kid and didnt bit.ch about it let alone an adult losing money meant for entertaining his babe tomorrow as he said. Nor be say na feeding money sef. RomanceRe: 7 types Of Ladies And The kind Of Men most ideal for them. by Fawklicant: 4:25pm On Dec 31, 2015
Toks2008:
I want to share "MY OPINION" on a very sensitive and controversial issue as regards the types of ladies we have and the kind of guys that is best suited for them.

There is no specific formula for a relationship to be a great one and any man can meet and fall in love with any lady and have a great union together regardless of age or status but nevertheless i have come to realize that what i am about to write holds true in most cases and i promise you all that this will be a revealing as well as thought provoking piece.

I present to you 7 types of ladies and the kind of men that will be most ideal for them to go into a purposeful relationship with...

1.The Teenage/adolescent ladies and undergraduates: Many ladies at this stage of their lives tend to mingle and fall in love with guys of same age group like an 18 year old lady falling in love with a fellow teenager or a guy of a very close age gap...Many female undergraduates also tend to get involved in school romance with guys of same academic level or maybe just a year or two ahead of them.

Yes in few cases the ladies in question might just be fortunate enough to grow older together and end up marrying the guy but the truth is that the guys who are most ideal for teenage or adolescent ladies are men of wide age gap say from 6 yrs and above as these set of guys will appreciate these ladies more unlike their age mates or guys with just a year or two older. This may not make sense until these ladies find themselves at age 26 while the guy at age 28 will still be playing around and does not even know what he wants.

2.:Ladies in their mid or late twenties Ladies in this category needs no sooth sayer to know that they should try to look away from guys in their 20s if they really want a purposeful affair.Yes yes we know that some guys are very well focused in their 20s especially late 20s but lets not fool each other..7 out of 10 guys in their 20s don't even understand a jack about commitment so why give yourself avoidable heartache falling in love with guys who are far from ready to commit themselves in matrimony? Guys in their 30s are best suited for ladies in this category.

3.Ladies in their early 30s: If you are a lady who for one reason or the other finds herself unmarried in this age category please calm down and remove your mind from guys of very close age gap even in the 30s because most guys in their early 30s still have eyes for the twenty something ladies but we still have some guys in their late 30s who are very cool with ladies in their early 30s so a 30 or 32 year old lady should expect more appreciation from unmarried guys in their late 30s as well as male divorcées or widowers as they will not only desire these ladies in early 30s but will also appreciate them deeply unlike guys of very close age gap while guys of younger ages should be avoided like plague if you can because most times, they are only interested in playing you and moving on.

4.Ladies in their late 30s and early 40s: We all know that 7 out of 10 guys in this age brackets must have been in one form of committed affair at a point in their life before attaining this age bracket so apparently most guys in their late 30s or early 40s are either widowers or divorcées which simply means that the guys that will naturally be most suited for ladies in this category are either divorcées,widowers or you just might meet with very few ones who have never been married before.

5.The unmarried single mum: Well i believe this is a rather daisy situation as many hot single mums still find themselves in the hands of hot young never married guys who sincerely desire them but lets be frank with each other..It is not so easy for an unmarried single mum to see a never married single guy to really desire her and want her as a wife except she is very fortunate so my advice is for ladies in this category to look in the direction of single guys who are also baby daddies. The widowers with children, the male divorcée with children will be most suited for an unmarried single mum.

6.Female divorcées: If you are a lady divorcée without a child and still very much young then you just might be fortunate to meet a never married man who will sincerely want and appreciate you but if children are involved them your best bet will be a fellow male divorcée with children or a married man who will not mind to have you as an extra wife.

7.The widowed: This depends on the age of the lady but any widow with children and in here 30s may find solace more in a fellow widower with children,a make divorcée with children or a married man.

I know this piece may not make sense to some people but those who reason deep might just see the truth in it but as i wrote earlier on,
IT REMAINS MY OPINION.
Very very useless post for juvenile minds and to think the phrase "reason deep" was attached to it to give it any form of philosophical connotations is purely an aberration to the way young minds are supposed to function. Soon enough you list compilers will get to realize that there's more to life than all these Nairaland lists. Mtscheewwwww! I wonder the source of high for NL mods these days.

Believe it or not,Nigeria is better off as one indivisible nation.Imagine the Igbos with sleek tecnological advancement, the Yorubas as financial and media experts and the North performing wonders in agriculture. What else do we need to improve as a nation?Nothing!Oil is nothing but a curse to Nigeria, that's why we Niger Deltans are so lazy. Our only contribution is oil which is a natural resources,no wonder Nigerians see us as minorities.
Bro, it is self defeatist statements like yours that makes others deride folks like you. I'm not from ND, but on what basis (empirical and otherwise) did you come to the assumption that a whole group of people are lazy? huh
Take a trip to the creeks sometime and experience life there, you just might have a change of heart. And if you have already done that or grew up there, then maybe you are one of the few priviledged ones who think that just because they are fortunate to have succeeded, every other person is just lazying about.

The same oil you call a curse is what brought about the agitations cum militancy which begat the amnesty programme which in turn was on its way to begetting more educated/trained proffessionals for the ND before the present govt. Started truncating the process(from what I hear). Give them quality education just like the rest and give them equal opportunity. Do not allow others use you to surpress your kind.

Exactly. Serious capital flight and near zero FDI. It would take years for the economy to experience any form of improvement if this plan is seen through. World bank and IMF would feast on Nigeria for decades with grants upon grants meant to stiffle growth of any form.

US imports a lot more than most people think. Devaluation has worked for us in the past, it won't be the first time. The FG will not be able to sustain the aftershock of its present forex policies. Suffice it to say that this is not a military regime where all decisions are final. This is democracy...or at least a semblance of it and issues ought to be democratically explored. I don't see how this will help FDI in any way and Nigeria needs it a lot. No one will invest in a battered economic clime with unfavorable business environment. In fact it is tending towards a hostile business environment.

obailala:
... Are you trying to say you do not understand why the CBN is doing what it is doing?....

Economics 101:
The nation is import dependent which means there's a high forex outflow. The main source of forex inflow is oil and oil prices have crashed massively to an 11-year low (even though expenditure has increased massively). Right now the nation spends more forex (via importation) than it earns (oil export) and consequently, the stock of foreign exchange is reducing drastically.

These checks by the CBN are simply to prevent Nigeria from becoming Greece or Venezuela. The CBN is struggling to prevent a situation where the foreign reserves are depleted on ebay businesses or people going on holidays abroad and then in a few months, the country wouldnt have any forex left to import food to feed its populace.

Just incase you didnt know before now but viewed this from only a political angle, I'm sure you should now understand the picture better with my explanations above and you should now understand why the CBN is desperately trying to prevent the outflow of forex; it is to save you and I from the Greek / Venezuelan situation which is imminent in a few months if oil prices don't come up.
Please extrapolate your economics 101 to other sectors of the economy.

What measures are in place to diversify the economy? The giant strides by the previous administration to diversify the economy via agriculture and local manufacturing, praytell what has happened to them? We need to stop thinking of oil only, because it is at times like these that other micro sectors of the economy could be boosted for sustenance. Please how is the government going to stem the consequent rise in crime rate with all the voodoo economics? At the end of the day, the average man doesnt understand squat from all the economic jargons, how is his condition addressed?
