This type is a frameless glass with no window hoods. Some people love it plain and simple. The other types are a lot of window hoods, frames and trims that are either plastered in during the window dressing, or molded on the ground and hung, depending on the design.

Both are good, but it depends on what the owners of the house wants.

I am worried the one that is molded on the ground and hung and fall.

I feel this one with the cast with blocks can never fall.

But what do I know?

This is just primary production: cutting lumber to size with modern machine. If the sawmill is modern, straight lumber is a given. This is not rocket science.

Nigerians don't invest in their businesses. The machines in the sawmills up and down the country are old, many are from before Nigeria gained independence. The machines are so old that they wobble when fed the lumber, hence the wobble outcome of timber in the country.

I have a £70 table top cutter that can cut 2x2, 4x4 etc timber perfectly straight. Cutting straight timber is not rocket science if you are not in Nigeria.

Nigeria makes simple things difficult!

now if you want to produce woods with comparable quality, the price will be close to the ₦7,000. Now how many Nigerians will gladly pay that amount for wood when there are cheaper options. What stops the person from going for steel trusts instead. Bearing in mind that for a business to survive, you need patronage

Some house designs use a generous dose of wood, so those would go for it, and the wood had better be uniform and treated.

There is something satisfying and soothing about a house with a generous amount of wood indoors.

If I had my way, I'd even build a wooden gate not a metal one.

So there is a market for it

Do it. Get cozy with upscale developers. Do internet marketíng. You will capture a niche market and comfortably rule over it before others wake it.

It's not for everyone.

I spoke of zoom calls. It also happens if you are doing a download and a data plan is exhausted, even worse if you are downloading a non-resumable file.

Now that you mention it, this terrible behavior also happens if you exhaust the bonus data they give.

Remember that they exhaust bonus data before the main data.

Meaning you have an active plan and yet they lock you out until you switch off and restart or turn airplane mode on and off.

I wonder what whoever let this setup become operational was thinking.

most times you may not need to paint, if the screeding paint matches the paint you want to use for that space, me i paint 2days after screeding have been done, my uncle in Ph, will even paint immediately, screeding wey no go take time, it will cake

I think given tropical temperatures, at least 7 to 10 days is it for me.

It's the reason cement screeding tend to consume more paint as it draws more water from the paint to complete it's hydration.
Rain, dew and moist air tend to prevent the excessive paint consumption.
The paint may not go far and not be sufficiently opaque unless it is primed before painting.
Anything portland or regular grey cement still needs more water after drying to complete water requirement for full setting.

I reread one of my sources and saw:

To fully allow the screed to dry out will take 10 weeks! (assuming the concrete is dry under add a month per 25mm!)

to set hard enough to latex a few days

This means painting can be done after waiting for say at least a week if I read that right.

I am a heavy Glo bandwidth user.

I noticed for several months running that if I was on a Zoom Video Call and one data plan got exhausted, even though I have several data plans stacked but not active.

I have to either turn off the device or put it on airplane mode or even send a text to 127 before the stacked data plans will be activated.

This is clearly a programming error.

It was not the case before.

I am sure that is possible to automatically activate a pending plan as one data plan is getting exhausted.

Any telecoms billing person in the house?

Does anyone else experience this on Glo?

Does anyone else experience this on any other network?

It is very frustrating, annoying and embarrassing and results in missing portions of a Zoom Video call.

I have reported to customer care and they said turn airplane mode on and off.

Or restart the device which does not solve the problem at the backend

I can easily afford to run unnecessary 'pet projects' very comfortably: Resurrected an older laptop that had gotten slow - 8gb RAM, 1000gb HDD. like play I opened AmzDotCom, placed an order for upgrade parts and just completed the hardware installation and operating system cloning..

I learned a whole lot along the way and experienced the huge transition in technology (I had gotten rusty, last tinkering was in naija university with my desktop and post graduation with a troublesome laptop).

I now have a factory reset windows10 system with Core-i5 8250u processor, 16gb RAM, 1000gb HDD, 256gb M.2 NVME and a dedicated graphics card... omo! the system deh flyyyy!
Priced for cheap: a quarter of a million naira ONLY

Maybe I go open my current lappy to see the next unnecessary project to run!
My Lexus Rx go suffer for my hand once our house complete. A big garage, large enof to get my hands dirrrty! Can't wait!

Screeding is composed of cement which may be Dangote or POP + screeding paint + glue (usually Top Bond).

I found this somewhere on the internet:

cement based screeds should not be force dried


Also saw 7 days per centimeter of thickness which can easily amount to over a month of drying time

I also saw ball park drying time 1mm per day

My conclusion is this, I will draw out the finishing time. I will wait a full one month especially for interior screeding.

Something else, I've read about watering the plastered walls, but not much has been said about that on this thread (or I haven't stumbled on it if it has been said).

Seems that these are trade secrets, hence no one is spilling the beans.

@op ask if you could use JAMstack approach... that's working with Headless cms... you could use any of them out there, personally I love Sanity.io and strapi.

With these approach I think you can do this... writing DB schemas isn't that difficult if you understand it.

After which you can easily consume the Endpoints using REST or GraphQL... why I'd always go with GraphQL is, it already have a simple approach to all you just mentioned.

Generally, what you should do for every job invite is to actually do what you were sent even though you aren't going to work with them or finish the project in their own time. It increases your understanding of what to expect in the future.

I remember trying to solve the problem I received from a Polish company, I kuku jam more problems, and beautiful solutions to accelerate the tasks. Today when a person talks about DB and their schema, I know what to do.
That's how I got to learn something like FaunaDB, then I come jam another solution like Hasura and a few others including Sanity.io GROQ. To keep it simple, you can use Postgres via hasura or kukuma go with mongodb

Just give it try if you aren't doing anything for now... comot mind for the work work do you thing. You'd see how you'll automatically start using all these right of the box.

I saw a miracle, a differently able mason who covered more grounds in square meters or inches whichever is your unit of measurement than all the fully able masons I have ever worked with.

If you need a mason in the FCT who cares more about turnover than being daily paid. He is your guy.

Obviously, the answer is not the same for dry and wet season. In the absence of a direct answer to the question, I will err on the side of caution and let the walls be.

I have seen the 28 days narrative in several places. Might have to wait till next year to paint.

If you are in East cutix is okay . 2.5mm cable for AC? IEE standard says 4mm. Below are the recommended cable sizes for appliance by IEE regulation

1.5mm is lighting lighting
2.5mm is for socket
4mm is for AC and water heater
6mm is for cooker

Don't allow road side electrician to give you wrong information . The rating of circuit breaker(MCB) or starblock as normally called by this road side technicians for each of the appliances are as follow:
-10A MCB is for lighting
-20A MCB is for AC(direct from DB to AC switch)
-20A MCB is water heater (direct from DB to water heater switch)
-30A MCB or 32A MCB is for socket( you can loop 5 or 6 socket to one MCB
-32A/45A MCB is for cooker control unit.

Protecting an appliance with 32A with wrong size of cable...hmmm each cable has their own current carrying capacity and each breaker has their own protective current as well

Using 30A to protect AC it means if there is fault current somewhere and your breaker suppose to trip off, it won't and the next thing is to melt the cable since the breaker refuse to trip.

I use Lenovos.

I am so happy with the one I have been using for over 5 years that I have ordered a newer model.

I have used Toshibas and HPs before but none of both have lasted this long without issues.

The Toshiba died due to a motherboard fault.

In a couple of weeks, my brother who bought the exact same laptop with me had the same issue. It is like they were built to expire after some time.

The only major issue with my Lenovo is a noisy fan, which is a recent development, I have already ordered a new fan and it's on its way to me.

The other issue is the batteries have now degraded so I bought a newer laptop and a number of fresh batteries for the pre-existing one.

That's not to say that there aren't other good brands.

But there is a reason why Lenovos are so common in corporate environments.

My Lenovo can run almost 24 hours on its batteries. Thank of the value of that in our clime with power outage issues.

I've studied this issue a lot.

Fully closed gates and fences without more give a false illusion of security.

Without more they aid thieves instead of hindering them if you happen to be the subject of their attack.

Think of what happens if they jump in or trick you or anyone and come into the premises.

Without monitored cameras, armed response units, noise and light alarms they will operate totally unhindered.

What would happen if you didn't have a high fence? Or had a see through gate?

Hence I have posted earlier high gates and fences without more is not enough security.

See through fences and lower fences will give the neighborhood a chance to see what's happening that is unusual and may even intervene on your behalf.

After carefully considering the arguments for and against, I opted for see through gates.

This was not my position 5 years ago. I wanted the highest fence and the highest gates possible.

This year following a security review, I opted for see through gates and low front walls. The other three walls are high though.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

For your unique circumstances, security considerations may result in an entirely different decision.

On one of my threads, someone asked me why I buy blocks directly from block industries and not making them on site as before. My reasons are what I posted below.

1. Space.
You must have enough space in the land you plan to build before you talk of making your own blocks on site. Keeping the sand, and spreading out the blocks you need to make will take some extra space that's not on the build space. It's not every site that has this extra space to play with. There will also be the additional cost of moving and re packing the blocks when you finally want to build.

2. Supervision.
Before you conclude on making your own blocks, you have to first ensure that you will be there with the block makers to monitor the way they are making your blocks. Or you have to place a knowledgeable person on site for all the hours the block makers are working. This is to ensure that they use your whole cement to make blocks, and not use 80 bags out of the 100 you bought, because you are not on ground. The extra 20 bags could disappear, and you wont find out.

3. Mix ratios
This is the most important matter. The mix ratio of cement to sand and or stone dust, plus water is extremely important. You have to know this, and also ensure that the ratios are applied in every mix, because in your absence, workers will do what is easier for them, without minding what you planned to achieve with your blocks.

4. Turning methods
The turning of sand is a process that has been mastered by block industry owners, and except you are knowledgeable about the methods, the block makers will circumvent the process and do what's easier for them, right in front of you. There is a method of turning, and there is a number of times you must mix, and there is a particular moisture content that must be used before your blocks turns out right. How many house owners knows how many buckets of water must be added into a mix of 1 bag, at what intervals should this water be added?

5. How many blocks per bag
Do you know that owners of block industries can make 45 - 50 blocks from one bag of cement and it will be stronger than the 28 - 30 blocks you made from your bag of cement at your own site? Do you know there are specific cement brands that gives more yield, do you know that there are some sands that will give you a lower yield of blocks, or blocks that break upon minimum impact?

6. Curing process
When are they supposed to start treating the newly made blocks with water, how many times in a day, what water pressure, and at what times of the day should the water be poured on the blocks? Most importantly, who's monitoring this water treatment?

We should carefully go through these points and if either one or more of these important processes are breached, your blocks might turn out to be less strong than the ones they make in the block industry.

I started buying blocks from trusted hands in the past 10 years after finding out these truths, and as you can see from those pictures, none of the 2,000 blocks offloaded in this site was broken. We are using some of the blocks as seats on site now.

3. Please read my back comments, I posted on proper ratio of concrete mixes. Those are standards worldwide. Those standards explain why some people have to redo the motorways in their premises every other year or even sooner. Those standards also explain why a house might fall or have issues when it ought not to

If you must mold your own blocks then you need enough space to lay out the blocks, you also need to water those blocks for a couple of days (I have forgotten how many) which means you must have a reliable source of water, and finally security for those blocks. If you don't have all of these in place, just get commercial blocks.

My generator's block engine was replaced.

I noticed something when I tried to use a 1,500Watt photocopier that the generator acted like it was gasping for breath.

It has never acted this way before. I have used the above photocopier at the same time with a 1,000 Watt iron + TV + sound system and all the house lighting.

What should I do to resolve the problem?

Rather than approach a fabricator first, I have opted to go to school.
