This must be a joke. China never consulted this guy. Germany never consulted this guy.

I doubt if this guy even knows how to spell Abuja - Lagos is easy to spell

Athithief and his clowns should just pay the right taxes.

And that debtor commonsence Bruce should first return his illegal allowances and the 15m naira he has been pocketing , then pay his AMCON debts - onigbese.

Earn a six figure dollar salary, and get to travel the world and stay in the best hotels at the customer’s expense.

Obi and his ilk talk about China - I have spent a month in shanghai ( near nanjing road) we can only dream of the infrastructure available in that country — that is why they can create jobs.

There is no voodoo economics. It is purely based on an educated, motivated workforce guilded by selfless honest leadership.

Osinbajo kept talking about 16years and PDP, Whenever he doesn't have answers to questions
Because pdp had 16yrs to do something tangible for this country.

It hurts to even think of this ( can you image being in university for 16yrs without graduating ikn), now someone wants us to retrogress - step back in time.

Obi might be an economist but we once had a Harvard PhD holder who couldn’t do much.

I beg, buhari/Osinbajo till 2023 . Then Osinbajo takes over.

Of course it will never be business as usual. Going forward , the era of free money is gone. EFCC will be more active.

Governors should be ready to look inward to boost IGR and use state money for infrastructural development. NASS members should be ready to make sacrifice.

Nation building is a serious business that requires discipline, hardwork, shrewd management of resources , selflessness and dedication.
Great nation’s are prudent with their money , but we are just a wasteful people - just look at the money wasted on our NASS.

How can we develop without infrastructure, we need those or else we would never develop.

And that is exactly what buhari is telling them - tighten your belts and plan for the future.

This is what Osinbaja said.

Reno stop deceiving lazy Nigeria youth

Speaking at the Nigerian-German Investment Dialogue in Berlin, Germany, Osinbajo said Nigeria is a leading investment destination for potential and serious investors.

According to him, “He said consumer spending in Africa was $1.4 trillion by 2015, with Nigeria, Egypt and South Africa accounting for more than half of that total,” Osinbajo said.

PoliticsRe: "Government Owned Universities Should Be Privatize" - Sen. Ben Bruce by Felixv: 5:01pm On Dec 09, 2018
theoldpretender:
The cheapest school in China is around 2000 pounds. IE universities

In Nigeria it is below 300 pounds for the most expensive university

Germans pay half their income in taxes for the freebies you mention.

Look, if we were to apply German method of funding to Nigeria, you guys would be paying half your salary as tax, and you people won't agree.

University is expensive. It is a bitter truth.

What you want is 20000000 naira education at 2000 naira. It is not possible
you are not comparing apples to apples -the average income of a Nigerian is very low -nothing compared to that of china, germany or any other western country.

Education is a right and it should not be a privilege -you talk of taxes in Germany as if the people are groaning,I have been to Waldorf,Berlin and Heidelberg and the people there have a great life in-spite of the so called high taxes you mentioned -same in Canada where education is free.

Nigeria must invest more in education -private university are not the answer because that would lead to elitism , and then the best secondary students would miss out on a university education.

In the US now ,there are some states who are introducing some form of free education -new york is one of them and I believe California has a scheme that allow free education in community colleges.

as I stated before (which you ignored) we should not be paying our politicians huge salaries (and pensions) at the expense of our children's future. I went to university of lagos and, I and many of my colleagues were about to get a great education.
PoliticsRe: "Government Owned Universities Should Be Privatize" - Sen. Ben Bruce by Felixv: 4:33pm On Dec 09, 2018
theoldpretender:
Germany China and Japan also

1.Are highly industrial countries which export in bulk...meaning their governments make trillions in dollars in tax revenue. Nigeria exports just oil, some cocoa, some beans, and we are not the number one producer in any one of them commodities.

2.Who told you China does not pay fees? As an example...fees in China can be as high as 3500 pounds sterling per annum (in Nigeria, fees are kept below 200-300 pounds per annum). Japanese students also pay fees (here is an example from Osaka University) plus education costs in primary and secondary school are high.

Germany is free...BUT....at the cost of half a german's income in taxes. (Try that in Nigeria...there would be a revolution before the day is over).
there are public schools in china (China is able to make education cheap and affordable, in a large part due to heavy government subsidies ) ,as a matter of fact Germany has a very good system -health,and education is free and nobody can fault the quality of both their health care and education...you are probably right about Japan -but it is extremely hard to get into university there.

Japan is offering generous scholarship schemes to low-income families in a bid to create equal education opportunities across the country.

A ¥800 billion (US$7.2 billion) government investment will enable students from low-income households to be eligible for free education at national universities. Fees at private universities, two-year colleges and vocational schools will also be subsidised from 2020,

but the point is that ben bruce should first ask his colleagues to reduce their take home pay --nigeria cannot afford it..what we need to do, is invest in the future and that is quality cheap education.
PoliticsRe: "Government Owned Universities Should Be Privatize" - Sen. Ben Bruce by Felixv: 1:59pm On Dec 09, 2018
hakeem4:
i do not think you understand his point. since the government is not capable of handling the affairs of government owned university they should sell it to private people or companies who have the capability to manage it

@bolded does not make any sense. silverbird is doing fine
So the universities would be turned to profitable ventures. School fees will go up, accommodation would go up and guess what - the less privileged would not be able to send their kids to university anymore.

In Germany,China, Japan education is free - and they produce some of the best technology today.

What I would suggest is that Ben Bruce and his clan should reduce their scandalious allowances and direct that money to the education sector.

How can a poor third world country have the highest paid senators in the world.

And what has been the positive direct or indirect impact of all these on the lives of average Nigerians?
you mean taking the train from ibadan to lagos would not impact the lives of the average nigerian,

the reduction of the JAMB, NECO fees does not impact the lives of the average nigerian

the average nigerian feels good that the rich are also being asked to pay their own fair share of tax --

and I guess you have forgotten the school feeding program, the collateral free loans for petty traders the npower program ---
what you should be screaming about is the scandalours allowances the likes of saraki and dino are pocketing each month -----
