Look at how the northern part of Nigeria dictates who rules because of their population.

TysonsCorner:
I created this new profile to hide my identity. I have a fiancee we have been together for awhile now and plan on getting married by February 2021. She lives in America(her dad is white American while her mum is Nigerian), while I'm here in Nigeria. Due to the pandemic I lost my job earlier in the year. Luckily for my fiancee she landed a job over there as an Investment Banker with a Fortune 500 Company were she earns over $18,000 a month (benefits inclusive).

The issue is that since she got this new job over there she has been acting up assisting me with peanuts every month. I'm sick and tired of her attitude. But I really love her. I have been advised by friends that American ladies are a pain in the neck so I'm confused.

Please what should I do? Should I continue with the marriage plans(cause she will be coming in February 2021 for the marriage ceremony)? Or I should just look elsewhere. I'm 34 she is 27.
Get a job first, that should be your priority now not marriage

The problem with contemporary young generation is that many of you were born into your families when morality vacated your family homes. Being strict is different from being wicked, he is discipling you as his own children so your future can be better, you are here ranting he is wicked.

Many of you just like places you will not be tamed so that you can do whatever you want like forming cult groups on campus, turning campus to Olosho house. If he is not strict and people still allow to do whatever they like, these spoilt rats will still come back here to complain and cast aspersions if any bad thing goes wrong with the school. Go to Catholic schools and see descipline, you these spoilt rats.

Your fathers get money, but lack morality, so when your fathers finally dumb you into CU as correctional center, you begin to misunderstand 'strictness' to ' wickedness' because your fathers failed to even show you '101' of moralities before you left for school because your families lack moralities in the first place. If you like to become wayward and hates descipline, no need of going there, go to federal and state universities and do what you like. Judas Iscariots!

Somebody is sweating to make you great, you call it wickedness! Spoilt rats! Go to volatile areas in North and ask for the meaning of wickedness!

Travel › Re: Should I Invest In Nigeria Or Wait Until I Get A Permanent Stay In Abroad? by femi4: 2:17pm On Dec 14, 2020
Basalt:
Goodmorning Ladies and Gentlemen.
I am Basalt by name and I came to Germany last year(2019) October for my MSc studies with a little amount of Money and a partially borrowed block account from my inlaw (his money and my money).
On arrival in Germany, I took only a few courses and got a job outside my city and also got a mini-job. I did all my monthly expenses from my Mini job and used my main job to completely pay back my debt within a few months of arrival.

Now, that's not the discussion at hand.
I need advice especially from people who have lived abroad or have many years of experience in life.
My visa still counts till 2022 and I can even extend it if I don't finish my studies by then.
According to German policy, once you graduate from the University, you will be given 18 months to get a professional job or return back to your country.
Returning back to Nigeria is totally out of my plan at least for now because I came from a very poor family without any job connection and I am really enjoying Europe.
I plan to buy land or start building a house (I saved millions of naira and will even save more as time goes) but my friend who is also a student here discouraged me against that saying that my root is not yet fixed abroad that I should wait and continue investing in myself and undergoing professional training until I get permanent residency before investing. That I should always keep saving because it is not certain that I will get a professional job after graduation since my course is not in Information Technology which is currently booming in Germany. That even if I don't get a job, I can use the money to migrate to Canada or any other country of my choice.
He asked What if you invest the money now and don't get a job after graduation, what will you do after the 18 months of post graduation visa since you don't have any backup from home who will help you out financially.

What do you guys think. I need opinions
Your friend is right. Make sure your source is solid before investing in a country like Nigeria that's full of uncertainty
Family › Re: My Sister Wants Traditional Marriage In The City: Is It Normal? by femi4: 2:09pm On Dec 14, 2020
evuna:
Oga, you have no moral standing to define what traditional marriage marriage is to Igbos. Face your culture abeg.

The two most prominent Igbos are Ojukwu and Azikiwe. Go and look at their date of birth. It's more than a hundred years ago for Azikiwe.

Igbos have been traveling out of igboland for mouth than a hundred years now. They have kept that tradition of going to the village for Marriage and burial. It has helped us greatly.

I have no issue if the Op goes ahead to do it in the city but I just love Igbo culture. You will never escape the consequences of that folly even up to your children. It takes nothing to go to the village even if you go with a few family members.

Let your in-laws come to and do the rites in the girl's father's house. No matter how small. it's not too expensive, if not broke men in igboland won't able to get married. It's just that people want to show off that's why it seems as if it's expensive.

Igboland is very secure right now. no excuse.

Your decision at the end.
That's the lie you were told to instill fears into you. I was talking about forefathers and you mentioned Zik and Ojukwu.....smh

Many Igbos are having their traditional weddings outside igboland and no evil has befallen them

I attended one in lag last month, and the couple are doing fine. It's time we open our eyes and eradicate the greys areas of our culture

What do we consider as Expensive bride price? Different cultures and customs. I see men here complaining about huge bride price and inability to let go of adulterous wife. Does it mean he could not afford to another if divorce results according to the scriptures.
Pls honest opinions!

Dear femi,

If it were yoruba culture would you have said the same. Nigerians are hypocrites. Why don't we respect the decision of gays and lesbians and allow them to make their choice and decisions.

Those non igbos urging people to disregard their tradition and culture should calm down.

Why I love igbo culture is that one you will be reminded of your folly. Even if it takes 50years, people will keep taunting you till you do the right thing.

There was one traditional function that I attended. An elderly man claimed to have done one cultural rite or so. Omo, elders dey keep records oo. I heard so many things from them sometimes dating 60 years back.

Op, just respect your culture for future sake. People will taunt you, your sister and even her children. Save yourself the stress and do the right thing. It's not as if someone asked you to bow down to an idol or anything fetish.

Just do the right thing.
Define traditional wedding....We are getting this culture thing very wrong. You can be in Europe and have traditional wedding there.

Their forefathers didn't have the opportunity to travel out of their comfort zone, hence most traditional weddings conducted at that time were done in the villages.
It's about showcasing the Igbo culture and you reach wider audience having it away from your town. Hence more people will come to know more and embrace the culture.

It's about the ACT not LOCATION.

I brought this issue to nairaland to straighten out some things, as the first son of the family, I am under immense pressure to defend the tradition of igbo.

my sister wants her Traditional Wedding to happen in the City, I have never seen a city traditional marriage, it sound abnormal to the ear, it seems I am the only stumbling block to this marriage. white wedding can happen in the city but not traditional abi?

truth is that most of our families reside in the city, they grew up in the city, and the cost of logistics is their excuse. please is it right that I should allow this to happen?
Respect her decision. Traditional wedding is in the act not location
