TonyeBarcanista:Then present the court order. Nobody is arguing with you that the land doesn't belong to gbagis. But what happened was; the government bought the land from gbagi people for the sole purpose of building another campus for Kaduna polytechnic, at the end the government succeeded in buying the land. The land was demarcated and at the end, a kadpoly campus was built there. Mind you everything happened many years back. So what happened next, the gbagis that first sold the land to government started selling same parts of the lands to the public at a very cheap price. The polytechnic authorities issued warning to people to stop buying their lands because they have already bought the land from gbagis. People refused to heed to the polytechnic warnings and they even went ahead to build their houses on the disputed land. Who does that? The polytechnic then threatened to demolished their houses if they don't vacate the lands. To be honest I don't know when both parties went to court or who took who to court but I know as of 2008/09, the government issued a warning for people to vacate the lands because it belongs to the polytechnic. You know Nigerians, everybody ignored the warning because of this our mindset that nothing works in Nigeria. And today the same people that were issued evacuation notice many years ago are crying blue murder. This issue is similar with that of NIPP. People buy lands on government reserve areas and cry blue murder went the government bring the bulldozers. |
This op is sentimental with the truth. This gbagi villa case has been on for years now. There was even a time that the government issued some very strict warning to people not to go close to the environs of kaduna polytechnic(sabon-tasha campus), and this was as far back as 2008/09. The demolition of gbagi villa was to be carried out last year under the era of ramalan yero, but I guess he didn't carry out the demolition because he wanted some votes. El- rufai has demolished many houses in Zaria(his hometown) because the buildings were either built on government lands or due-processes were not followed in acquiring the lands. Cases of people encroaching government lands didn't start today in Kaduna even when they know the government can wake up any day and demolish their houses. I think there was even a particular time that the Nigeria military has to demolished some houses built on their lands(in old NDA), now who in his right senses will buy a land in NDA just because someone told you that they have relocated to their new and permanent site? I saw a similar thread like this in the morn but I just choose not to comment there because nobody there really understood the real issue. |
Atiku and Zuma though. I guess they are very close buddies because they have one or two things in common. Both are very charismatic and their love for women is exceptional. For instance Zuma has four wives while Atiku has two wives. I'm I making any sense? Btw welcome to Nigeria Mr Jacob zuma, I hope you will enjoy your stay |
babadem2much:You made a nice point but all the name callings and throwing of tantrums were not necessary. Kwankwaso did very well with the scholarships, I even know one beneficiary that is currently pursuing his masters in UK. God bless us all |

Picking a fight with the DSS is just like picking up a fight with the NSA directly, and picking up a fight with the NSA translates to picking up a fight with the president and his cabinet. The governor shouldn't forget that the DSS is our domestic intelligence agency and a protection agency for senior government officials like the president and the governors. The DSS has its own act, rules and regulations guiding it. The DSS are not answerable to anybody but only to the office of the NSA and the president. I don't know which act gave a governor any power to chase a Federal government agency out of his state or bar such agency from any state government house. But one can never know though |
Ahmed0336:I believe many people don't know that the north is not only a very diverse, secular region, but also the porousness of north is at another level. People always think that the north is only constituted by Hausa/fulanis/Muslims which is not right. The north has a very large number of Christians like you that are found in almost every nuke and cranny of the north. People don't know that there are even hausa Christians and hausa traditionalists from the same Hausa ethnic group. We call people like them maguzawa, but to be honest, they are very few in number. |

zabson:Insulting random monikers on a faceless forum like this is the true definition of silliness. If insults rocks your boat, then keep it up |
Xapio:You welcome. You can also say one or two things about what you think/observer about the north or northerners |
Nice contributions coming from northerners. I like the way we are exercising maturity here and ignoring the negatives comments from troublemakers. As the good people here said; religion extremism, high level of unemployment, illiteracy, ignorance, poor family planning etc are our major problems. I absolutely agree with what you guys said here. I'm very happy that many of us really know our problems and are giving reasonable solutions on how to tackle these problems. I really do believe that in some couple of years to come, some of these our problems will be tackled by God's good grace because there are already some very serious northerners that really want to make a change. And is also high time we begin to look inwards to tackle our problems. We should stop waiting/hoping for the bill gates of this world to come down to our region just because we couldn't handle/tackle polio, VVF, malaria etc. Lalasticlala, mynd44 we will be very grateful if this thread is push to the homepage. And please the slurry comments here against the north/northerners should be brought down. Thank you |
Maxi112:you can open your own thread to hyperventilatie there, but this thread is exclusively for northerners to discuss north and northerners. Cc: Seun, mynd44, lalasticlala |
arewaboy:Another important point. I sincerely believe that once a problem is identified, then solving such problem will be easy. |
kurupt1:lalasticlala, mynd44 please take note of this comment |
maryam6:Maryam you welcome, can you please answer all the questions listed in the first post? Thank u ![]() |
Let me start from myself Well I'm from Northwest, from kano state precisely. My favourite local dish is dambu ![]() What I like about the igbos is that they are industrious in nature and the yorubas are very creative. I believe the biggest problem facing our north is highly corrupt/bad leaders who put themselves first before the masses. We should always hold our leaders(from councillors to the highest office holders) accountable, their promises must always be kept |
Over the years we were made to believe that there are very few northerners on this forum. Well anyway I choose not to believe this notion. Of course there are many northerners(e.g myself) on this forum but for some reasons best known to them, they hardly drop any comment here. They few ones i was very fortunate to have come across on this forum were very intelligent and mature e.g arewafederation, nduchuks etc. Lol, I guess the others have chosen to be mere spectators and not contributors. Please this thread was solely created for the northerners here and its purpose is for my fellow northerners to identify themselves. So please all troublemakers should stay clear from this thread. If you are a northerner here, please I.D yourself by answering these five(5) questions below; 1• state the particular region(NW, NC, NE) you are from 2• Tell us your state of origin 3• Your best local northern dish 4• What you particularly like about the other two major ethnic groups(yorubas and igbos) in Nigeria. 5• What you think is the major problem facing our north and provide your solution in tackling the problem. This thread is an inclusive thread and all sons and daughters from northern Nigeria are all welcome to contribute in this discuss. Lalasticlala, mynd44, seun and the hosts of other mods, please it will really be appreciated if this thread is push to the homepage for more participation and further contributions. |
zendy:It was a war and both parties involved committed all sorts of atrocities. It was a war between Nigeria(not northerners) and the separatists(Biafra). Besides they say all is fair in love and war. Btw this is another topic for another day. |
I'm a northerner, precisely from kano state(tumbin giwa). And it saddened my heart when I heard that yorubas and the Hausa community in Lagos had a brutal face off as reported by some mainstream newspapers. And instead of these mainstream newspapers to call for calm and peace with their publications, the were(are) busy promoting the ethnic clash with their one sided baseless reports. One of the newspaper even reported that security agencies were backing and protecting one group. What a shame. So is the newspaper telling us that northerners are they only people found in our security agencies? Why have we suddenly forgotten or choose to forget that in every tribe, religion in Nigeria, there are some sizable numbers of social delinquents and degenerates who are law breakers? How will any sane mind try to turn this "clash of the hoodlums" as a Yoruba and northerners face off? The agberos had a clash with the nuisances that called themselves okada riders/ keke-drivers, how does this translate into a Hausa/Yoruba crisis? Why are people desperately and dangerously trying to score a very cheap political point with this unfortunate event? I'm a northerner and I strongly condemn any kind of hostility unleashed by any tribe on another tribe no matter the amount of provocation(s). We should always be humans first before any other thing. Ransacking of shops, unnecessary killings are totally wrong in all sense of responsibility. I don't care who started what or how the entire fracas started, the Lagos started government should take up its responsibility and bring all the perpetrators to justice no matter who they are. The yorubas I know are law abiding citizens and accommodative people and my Hausa brothers are friendly and respectful people, we shouldn't allow this act of insanity by some miscreants and thugs take over our sanity. We should always allow peace to reign and be a fundamental way of our everyday lives. Peace brings progress and development while chaos and crisis bring nothing but retrogression and destruction. Nothing good ever comes out in crisis and chaos. And please people should stop rejoicing over unfortunate events like this, rather people should always call for calm in situations like this no matter the part of the divide you belong. God bless us all |
Innalillahi wa inna'ilahi raji'un. Allah ya ji kanta, Allah ya sa ta hota. Amin summa Amin. In namu tazo, Allah ya sa mu chika da imani. Op I don't think this is any ceremony, rather the dignitaries are paying their last respect to her by standing in prayers for her(burial rights) |
Forwetinnah:Look I'm a kano indigene so I think I understand my culture and traditions. Mrs usuru(that's ese's mum) will never ever be allowed to see the emir under any circumstances, we are talking about an emir here my friend. She might have met the galadima or the waziri, but she won't be allowed to see the emir because of some certain reasons. Her story even contradicts that of her daughter who first said she was hypnotized. So does it make any sense to you that a hypnotize girl will recognized her mother immediately she sights her? Look my friend, what yunusa did was wrong, but people shouldn't put the entire blame on him. Nobody is talking about the kind of parents Mr/mrs usuru are, nobody is talking about the kind of girl ese is. All we hear everyday is yunusa, yunusa and yunusa. I'm yet to hear the true story of this ese/yunusa saga. |
I knew it. I knew this woman will be caught by the trap she tried to set for yunusa. I have read the lies I was finally waiting for. Hahaha from thugs were beating her to how she escaped to the police station, what a cock and bull story |
hammerT:Who told you he went to Chatham house to campaign? Please he went there to deliver a speech |
hammerT:Funny. Just listen to yourself. So buhari was the person that masterminded the first ever coup in Nigeria that killed our regionalism and gave birth to a unitary system of gov't that is yet to work in Nigeria? |
All these things that the op mentioned didn't start happening today. Election has been won and lost, so people should move on |
MsGlobalwonder:madam you know you can pass your own opinion without throwing insults, is not that hard you know. I'm a member of this forum for years and in all my posts, you won't see were I throw insults at other members no matter what, and I also don't entertain people like you who are derive of any logical reasoning |
No matter what their lies or the unkept promises are, we still can't start accusing a political party that has not even spend up to one year in power/office. We should condemn them or praise them when they finally exhaust their 4 mandated years in office. PDP promised Nigerians heaven and earth but after their many years in power, they couldn't fulfill their promises and Nigerians were left with no other option than to vote them out. All elements of objectivities are lost in this thread. No matter how bias we want to be, there are some very positive gains that this baby administration has achieved like the victorious ongoing fight again terrorism, the commendable power supply. Mr op, hope you haven't forgotten that the budget is still been debated in the Senate and has not been passed?l. |
Her parents are irresponsible, the ese of a girl was loose and yunusa the "abductor" was very ignorant, not to forget the fact that he was plain silly. That being said, nobody should paint yunusa as the villain here until the true face of the story has been unravelled. |
kodded:Please let's try to comment like civilized people without throwing insults up and down. You can clearly pass your arguments without all the name callings. |
And how is obasanjo's unreasonable junketing any similar with what buhari is doing now. Buhari inherited an almost collapse nation that was already bleeding due to unimaginable corruption and looting brazenly. Buhari needs to travel, he really needs to travel, yes I said it again. He has his economy team, he has a vice president and he has a complete cabinet. Obama was also criticized when he came onboard, and today the US story has changed for the better |
