Oga sir, Have public school teachers in Delta state been on strike for a month now or not? ''international standard'' indeed. |
ogugua88: I understand where you're coming from, but no. I don't want to be compared to Omojuwa because he and I are completely different. What I did and what he did are like apples and oranges. I contacted various people about my refund issue and didn't get an answer, so I wrote a lengthy synopsis as to what has happened. Other bloggers saw it and put it on their pages. I didn't take to Twitter the way Royal Entertainment and other angry customers did to lambast Banky W and the rest of EME; that's why others were blocked by EME and I never was. Banky W actually went out of his way to apologize and contact me after that write up.hmmm... Ok, i see u point more clearly now & i've been able to deduce the following (correct me if i'm wrong): i) if Omojuwa had been more diplomatic in his approach, i.e. making his voice heard but refraining from insults & threats, then he wouldnt have lost ur respect. After all the noise he made & 'death threats' to the airline, it seems odd that it took a replacement of the iPad to shut him up. ii) He comes across as using this issueto increase his popularity. & nothin destroys activism more than getting derailed along the line, deviating from the original & sole motive, which should be justice & justice only. iii) You dislike proud people (that much i've observed as ur NL follower.lol), & JJ has shown some serious signs of having that trait.iv) He's someone you once respected, as an upcoming voice of the people perhaps & that makes the f-ups above more annoying. A more mature management of the whole issue was expected from him. He made too much unpleasant noise & that's y it appears that it took only a new ipad - which is actually only what he's due for(lets 4get abt compensation & those fancy thns lawyers get rich on.lol) - to shut him up. Oya madam, just cut him some slack.lol. I don't hold brief for him, and can't make excuses for him but i still think his action will inspire lots of Nigerians to stand up to the big organisations, airlines inclusive, (who would now be more careful) when cheated . Indeed, activists need to exercise a good deal of caution & maturity without compromising persistence, in pressing for their demands, so that the other party & indeed the spectators will not really have anything to hang them with. Even insults, when necessary, can be delivered in subtle & mature ways. |
ogugua88: It isn't about him standing up to Arik. It's about the manner in which he chose to do so. There's a big difference.ma'am. I respect & usually concur with most, infact almost all your opinions on this forum on topics i'm concerned about. But on this, i beg to differ. Recall the EME saga that directly involved you speaking out for many others. I remember seeing many posts castigating you as well & criticizing ur manner of approach...despite it being almost (or about) a year since u had paid. I refer to this as a pointer for you to try to view this ipad issue more objectively. -it's no secret that most Nigerian companies have very poor customer service, reasons which include but are not limited to the fact that most Nigerians themselves dont know thier rights. This is a country where you have to bribe a man & beg him to do a job he's being paid for by the government. This is a country where mediocrity is being celebrated and anyone who demands for excellence is at first, ignored, then given little attention, then labelled a hater as a precursor to the release of further barrage of insults. Omojuwa has a caustic tongue, no doubt, which he effectively deploys in a good number of his articles but that doesn't mean he's not civilized. He may well likely have approached Arik management and gotten rebuffed, hence his twitter war against them. Arik i believe is too wise to give him a replacement iPad if they are not convinced it was stolen. Personally, i doubt if the number of flight tickets sold daily has suffered any significant reduction due to Omojuwa's twitter rants. How many airlines do we have to choose from anyway? That he's been twitting from an iPad since that incident is not an issue AT ALL. I personally know 2 people who have 2 iPads. & i know others that if their iPad or BB or tab gets missing today, in no time at all, a replacement would be purchased. So, if anyone is suspecting him of lying coz he's still twittin from an iPad, that person needs to 'open his eyes' more. What i see here is this: A man made noise about a company who he feels was responsible for his stolen property, company was initially indifferent, after a while, his noise paid off, he gets his replacement item back, they shake hands & everyone goes his or her own way. Simple. No long thing. Lesson learned - Stand up for ur right. JJ Omojuwa just reminded us of that, even tho we may consider some aspects of his method crude. NB: In NIGERIA, if you dont have a bit of ''gragra'' & ''shakara'' attributes, to be used when necessary, u many not get results. U proved that with the Banky W saga & Omojuwa just did the something similiar here. & about a grown man throwing tantrums, remember people were insulting you back then that u were making noise coz of 100 dollars. Of cors, like in this case, the money (or Ipad) wasnt really the issue, but the ''i'm smart'' attitude of the oppressor & d injustice suffered. |

We keep telling you that Islam has been misconstrued, you keep telling us it is not so. An analogy is like me telling you i was born on the 1st of February (01/02/1900), showing you my birth certificate along with oral confirmations from my parents & family members to prove it, only for you to come up with anoda birth certificate (a fake, but u insist its original) stating my DOB as 2nd of January (02/01/1900), along with a statement from a supposed doctor at the hospital i was delivered. Pray tell, who is likely to be right? Islam is peaceful, however odd that may sound to you. If you want to know what islam is all about, dont believe some drivel based on some misquoted verses or outright malicious publications by many who openly HATE Islam for some reason. Yes, many have been misguided & its up to us muslims to reeducate them, using the very same text they've been brainwashed with. We are doing that already. Thank you. Lemme not derail the thread The main gist of ur comment is quite appreciated tho, coz while i wouldnt really blame SOME people who do not like islam (tho i'll still enjoin them to learn more & get things right), it takes an at least OK non-muslim to acknowledge the fact that a muslim leader practiced Islam well. Though, note that the Qur'an and the Bible have a lot of teachings in common. Teachings which sadly, a lot of muslims & xtians (both leaders and followers) fail to live by. |
profola2be: just asking bro,is it not good to die in the other days of the week?Of course it is. But then Friday as u kno is like our favourite day of the week ![]() |
Kenistry: Never heard of him. Wht's is contributn to dis nation sef? Insignificant as far as am concern, He even made d front page at dat. Tribalism at work here.Insignificant you say? I mean, seriously, when many of you type negative and hate-filled comments here, do you actually feel good within yourselves that you are any better than those you are insulting? Be positive in your life and good things will come your way. Here's some info in case you are interested, i.e. If you dont find it an herculean task to click and read. www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lateef_Adegbite Inalilahi waina ilehi rajiun. He has done his part and left. The best of days for a muslim to die is on Friday. Just like late Alhaji Folawiyo, Alhaji Adegbite also made his exit on a friday. He will be remembered by muslims and xtians alike, for his role in continuosly preaching and promoting peaceful co-existence of adherents of both religions in Nigeria, among other things. May His soul rest in peace & may Allah grant d rest of us the will, grace & courage to positively touch as many lives as possible thru our speech, our actions & all other possible means before we die. If you wake up in d morning & at d very least, u have no intention of making anybody happy, then just make sure you dont go to bed with the knowledge that you made someone sad coz of something u said or did, even if on an anonymous forum. Coz no one knows when his/her time will be up. When i saw the several hate-filled comments on the hajj deportation thread today (didnt even bother to finish reading it), by people who supposedly believe in God & act on His teachings, i just remembered late Bawomolo. Dude died very young, but we on nairaland knew him as one very mature, brilliant poster, well versed in many areas, little wonder many were shocked at his age. May the era of sensible posters return to Nairaland. Amen |

tbaba1234: ^ There is no such thing as a good Bida...Thanks. Well, i've read some more articles on the topic online this morning & it appears that there is indeed a distinction between what is bid'ah and what is bid'ah in the deen. A good example of the former is what we r doing now I believe, in essence, use of technological tools and all that is common today, which didnt exist before. People studying hadith on their iPad using an e-book of Sahih bukhari is actually an innovation, but doesnt flout the principles of the deen. Using a microphone to make the adhan is an innovation, but it doesnt fall under the class of bid'ah the Prophet described. & yet, it still has to do with a religious act (as its not exactly just a ''worldly'' matter). But once it affects the sacred acts of worship itself, that's the kind of bid'ah that's frowned upon. So in essence, not every NEW thing should be classified as bid'ah... *as i see it o* ?? I guess my first post is better understood now. |
zayhal: It is bid'a. And every bid'a (religous innovation) is misguidance and every misguidance leads to hell.Had to resurrect this thread coz of the bolded. I have issues with it. I assure you that there are differences in the way and manner we practice Islam today and the way it was practiced in the time of the Prophet (PBUH). The compilation of the Qurán into one book , which happened AFTER the prophet's death during the time of Uthman (RA), is in a way, a form of Bidáh. Many innovations today are to be discouraged and frowned upon, but some, in my opinion MAY not be bad, as long as it does not violate certain essential aspects of the religion. As for the SMSs and stuff, i usually simply ignore them. same for the "like this picture if you love the Prophet" and stuff like that. I don't need to demonstrate my love for the prophet by liking a picture on facebook, there are many other ways of doing that in my opinion. Learned opinions are welcome ![]() |
A muslim friend has denounce his faith after reading this. All Nigerian muslims should pls do same (esp those in the western part). That religion isn't meant for you guys. Your muslim forefathers were carjole into that religion out of ignorance. It is even better not to serve a god than to serve one that believe and live on blood of humans.
yeah, i'm sure that ''friend'' is on one of those lazy people who find it hard to perform 5 times daily salat ( max tym spent - 10 minutes each) & fast for 30 days in a year; or one of those stingy people who cannot give out of their money to the less privileged in the society (& not to the Imam); or one of those people who think that by claiming they have faith in Allah, Allah will not test their faith. Have u asked yourself why despite the 9/11 bombings (of which evidence keeps mounting by the day that it wasnt carried out by any BinLaden or muslim), & other ''acts of terror'' by 'muslims' , islam is still the fastest growing religion in the world? Check this claim anywhere & produce concrete evidence to refute it if you find any. & who cajoled who to accept islam Did muslim missionaries set up schools & forbid people of other religions to use their xtian names? Did they forcefully preach islam to them? (& spare me the crap of Usman Danfodio carrying a sword, as its easily obvious that this isnt true judging by the fact that we still have several xtians even in core northern areas)up until early 1990s, some xtian schools in Lagos were still reluctant to admit muslims, or they admitted them on the condition that they drop their muslim names as thier first names. Needless to say, they had (have) absolute disregard for islam. Now I repeat, who cajoled who? About 3 years ago, at my alma matter (LASU), a muslim student (& others obviously) was openly bribed by a campus fellowship with a bag of rice & 10k or so to denounce islam & come and join them. She refused (some accepted) & this also served as a wake-up call to the muslims to increase contributions to the indigent fund that had already been set up. Not all xtians give people something on the condition that they accept xtianity (some are generous with no strings attached), but SEVERAL do. So who is cajoling/persuading/forcing who? Islam and xtianity re supposed to co-exist peacefully, but unfortunately, several muslims and xtians are nothing short of hypocrites and brainwashed fellows. If every muslim sticks to the principles stated in the Qur'an and exemplified by the sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and every xtian sticks to the tenets and dictates of the present day Holy Bible (whatever version), there will definitely be peace in this world. But then anyways, the continuous intentional & unintentional misinterpretation of both texts (especially the Qur'an) and overzealous 'kasali' fanaticism on both sides is simply a sign that, well, the world is indeed coming to an end. God help us. |
huh?
Didnt focus on the user name initially. Now i see you were merely being sarcastic. In any case, my earlier reply still stands for those muslims who harbour thoughts sentiments you exemplified sacrcastically in that your earlier post. I remember a xtian vs muslim thread where u were really flexing muscle, while evading certain questions. I dont crave lengthy engagement on religious matters, but i strongly advise you to understand TRUE islam first, & be sure to do that with the aid of true and valid sources. The actions of several muslims today do not potray what islam is really about. We have abandoned the true teachings, therefore its not surprising that the world is so screwed up today. & whether we choose to believe it or not, muslims in many parts of the world are being daily persecuted and provoked, but still we are not supposed to fight, except our survival is being threatened as a result of continuous oppresion, & even then, we fight ONLY those who attack us, & WE MUST NOT TRANSGRESS LIMITS. Thw parts in bolded have been forgotten by many people. Sad. |
ismhab: CAPITAL YES.Would the Prophet (PBUH) have killed him if he was alive today? Dyu love the Prophet more than he loves himself? Abeg, no offence, but park well. Make una dey guard una utterances and actions. Take his life -life of an innocent (albeit misguided, deluded and foolish) man (not in self defence again) & see if Allah will welcome you with open arms into Al-jannah. |
You people are just being stupid. Anyone that insults our holy prophet deserves to DIE. BLOODY KEFIRI'S
Except this is sarcasm (which is quite unnecessary & inappropriate here), You are just as si.lly & deluded as the Minister. Check d Quran, hadeeth & the records of the sunnah, did the Prophet kill or command his followers to kill those who insulted him? Wasnt it his tolerant nature despite heavy insults that attracted many of his antagonists to islam? One mo.ron is now announcing price on his fellow man's head. Does he know if Allah will forgive the man eventually? Does he know his own standing in front of Allah? You, the Minister & his likes & the violent protesters are the ones who will be in trouble on the day of judgement (unless Allah forgives you)for causing people to cast aspersions on the religion by virtue of your unguarded speech & actions. Dey do work wey Allah no send una. Defend the honour of the Holy Prophet by acting according to his teachings & how living your life as he lived his, not by killing other people or making life uncomfortable for others. That said, shooting dat movie was still very much a bad idea. Same for all the insults on islam. Its not necessary. Even xtianity doesn't preach this bcoz Jesus Christ (PBUH) wouldnt have done the same. So if you claim to follow him, & you are acting contrary to his ways, what's the difference between you and the brainwashed islamist! |
hello mr find out,how is business going?am emmanuel stay in lagos. pls i saw your review on a post/tread that one nuepert that sell battery at @ 29 otigbe street and in that review you confirmed that youre enjoying the dv6000 battery he sold to you for a year now.you see i bought these hp 6735s battery recently but it doesn't stay up to 3hrs and i like getting the best cos i surf and work alot on the internet...pls is it true what you said. thank for your anticipated coorperation
Hmmm.... Wrong thread to post this.lol. But yes its true. Haven't met or dealt with Neupert since last year i got the battery, but I'm happy with what i purchased. I bought the battery around august last year from him, & its still serving me very well as I type this. If i'm just listening to music, or watching movies, mine lasts up to 2 hours. Lots of factors affect battery consumption. If your WLAN is on, your battery will drain faster. If you are playing heavy games, same thing. & be sure to reduce ur screen contrast settings and switch to ''power saver'' mode once light goes off. If you've done all this & ur battery still drains quickly, then i suggest u go back to him. I always ask for warranty when i buy anything electronics, if not manufacturer's , at least seller's. especially when as in the case of the battery, the only way u can be sure u r getting a perfect one is if u buy from an HP store abroad. I refered a co-worker to him just last week to get the same HP6735s battery. Dont know if he's gotten it yet though. Will see him next week. Peace. |

Morning boss. Please help with this VIN: 4T3ZF13C1WU021560 . Thanx |
Siena: If the engine's already on the way out, changing the oil so frequently won't help, it's just wasting money. It's actually more beneficial in such cases, to leave the oil in as long as possible, so it gets thick and black. A knocking engine will be quieter with dirty, thick oil. Many knocking engine have lasted over 6,000 miles with careful driving, and simply topping up the oil. And many of these worn engines have expired immediately after an oil change, smashing rods through the block.Hmmm....thanks for the added knowledge boss. Very enlightening. |
Siena: Replacing oil and filter on a monthly basis is way too frequent. Even for vehicles driven hard in very dusty regions, twice per year is more than enough.I share the same feelings boss. No matter hw poor quality our engine oil here may be (coz in naija, people can do anythn to cut corners. Even d known brands MAY not meet up to the specificatns they claim if tested), i think 4 times a year maximum is alrite, except the engine is already going downhill. Now, question is, how dyu know u r due for an oil change? The popular indicator most people use (especially for cars without the oil life meter) is the oil colour. If too black, we feel it needs to be changed. Even then, it seems some people just leave themselves at d mercy of the mechanics who 'draw up' the 'timetable'. Comments? |
