Leadership of the National Association Of Nigeria Student (NANS) has been invited to the force headquarter over a threat -that all South African Companies should leave Nigeria before Seven Days- issued by the student body last week in response to xenophobic attacks.
A meeting held between the IGP, Federal Republic of Nigeria and NANS ended on a mutual note. The meeting X-rayed NANS involvement so far in the Xenophobia struggle as well as both Nigerian and South Africans government’s efforts at reaching lasting solutions. While the IGP appreciated the peacefulness of NANS agitation for an end to Xenophobic attacks on African nationals especially Nigerians.
A petition submitted by the South African High Commission was responded to by the NANS leadership. The NANS President took time to debunk the fallacies and fears expressed by the South African High Commission and gave evidences of actions taken so far.
The president also reiterated on behalf of the students movement that no violence has been recorded so far in their actions and none will be encouraged as we go even further. He also asserted that they are morally higher than the South Africans hence their resolve to press for freedom, dignity and respect for all Nigerians, Africans and the businesses they own in South Africa without violence against their persons and businesses.
The IGP advised that the students movement should operate within the ambit of the law and he assured the Police authorities of their commitment to the struggle through consistent global advocacy for the defence of all Nigerians in South Africans.
The President of NANS, Comr. Danielson Akpan, GCNS was accompanied by the Comr. Yinka Dada, JP, former NANS President, Comr. Eugene Okoloise, NANS VP National Affairs 2000/01, Comr. Ekemini Inyang Ex-Officio 1 among others.

Muttee: Four Nigerians were arrested and transferred to Accra Regional Police Command on Tuesday September 10, after torturing and disfiguring their Ghanaian house help. The pummeled househelp was saved after his cries attracted residents of East Legon, where the Nigerians lived. Joy News’ Latif Iddrisu reported that the victim’s head had increased to about twice its original size before he got help.
“We heard the victim crying out saying ‘this evening they are going to bury me in a septic tank.’ “When we rescued the boy his head was like the head of three of us put together. And his arm had become like those of four people put together. “They had beaten him so much. What the Nigerians have done today a Good Samaritan said.
It was learnt that effort to gain access into the apartment was met by stiff resistance by the Nigerians. One of the rescuers who sustained a bottle wound in his palm, said he was told by the Nigerians that he was interfering in a private matter.

fergie001: Abductors of Beauty Ogere, the mother of a former skipper and Coach of the Super Eagles, Samson Siasia, have released one of their victims, Florence Donana.
The 66-year-old Donana was abducted on July 15, the same day Siasia’s mother was kidnapped at Odoni community, Sagbama Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
Donana was abducted alongside her 17-year-old granddaughter by the hoodlums, who first broke into the family house of Siaisia to seize Ogere at 2am.
But it was gathered that about 50 days after the incident and following prolonged negotiations between the families of the victims and the hoodlums, the kidnappers only released Donana, whose family paid some ransom.
A source from the community, who spoke in confidence, said the Donana family negotiated undisclosed amount of ransom with the kidnappers and sent someone to deliver the money to them.
He said the kidnappers collected the money, held the ransom payer captive and released only the aged Mrs. Donana.
“The 17-year-old granddaughter was not released. The mother of Siasia was also not released because the family had yet to agree on ransom. They are still holding three persons captive”.
The source, however, lampooned the police leadership headed by the Commissioner of Police, Uche Anozia, for not living up to its duty on the matter.
He said the kidnap case had exposed the current state police leadership as clueless and wondered why the octogenarian mother of Siasia could spend 50 days in kidnappers’ then without the police bursting the crime.
“It seems the commissioner of police has forgotten this case. The kidnappers are having fun, tormenting the families of their victims and acting with ease and impunity yet the police have said nothing on this case.
“They have no clues and nobody has been arrested. It seems nothing happened in Bayelsa. It is really bad. Maybe the Inspector-General Police should intervene by sending a special force to crack this crime”, he said.
Two days after the incident, the kidnappers established contacts with Siasia’s family and demanded N70m to set the victims free.
Siasia, however, begged the kidnappers to set his aged mother free unconditionally saying he was out of job and had no such money to pay them.
But a family member said the kidnappers brought down the ransom from N70m to N50m without consideration to the health of the woman.

PureFace1: A flurry of gold medals in wrestling and others from athletics, boxing and even canoeing has seen Nigeria soar to the second spot on the overall medals table at the ongoing African Games in Morocco.
Nigeria, as of Thursday night, had gathered a total of 103 medals (40 gold, 28 silver and 35 bronze medals).
South Africa, who were previously occupying the second position, have now dropped to third as the curtain is set to drop on this edition of the African Games.
Nigeria’s biggest harvest of gold medals on Thursday came from wrestling where the country won all but one of the six gold medals on offer to reaffirm her supremacy in the sport on the continent.
Reigning African Games gold medalists, Blessing Oborududu (68kg), Odunayo Adekuoroye (57kg), Mercy Genesis (50kg) and Aminat Adeniyi (62kg), were all impressive as they retained their titles, as well as African Champion Blessing Onyebuchi (76kg), while 2018 African champion Bose Samuel (53kg) settled for silver after losing to Cameroon’s Essombe Joseph 2-4 in the final.
The five gold-medalists did not concede a point in their respective final bouts.
Unexpected feats
While the feat in wrestling was predictable and expected, Nigeria served the continent a pleasant surprise in a relatively unpopular sport in the country, Canoeing,
Nigeria on Thursday won two gold medals as Ayomide Emmanuel Bello won in the women’s 500m while she combined with Goodness Foloki to win another gold.
Another unexpected outcome happened in Rabat as a new face in Nigeria’s table tennis, Olajide Omotayo, emerged as the champion of Africa in the men’s singles event at the 2019 African Games.
Omotayo conquered three of the best players in Africa to be crowned the new champion of the continent.
From the quarterfinal stage, Omotayo worked his way to the final, beating two former champions – Egypt’s Ahmed Saleh and Nigeria’s Segun Toriola in the quarterfinal and semifinal stages.
The final produced the best of Africa with Aruna Quadri going up against Omotayo and the fans were treated to an exciting match.
Omotayo threw caution to the wind and raced to the lead with a 3-0 (13-11, 11-9, 16-14) but experienced Quadri cut the lead to 3-2 with 8-11, 13-15 wins in the fourth and fifth games.
The sixth match was a display of energy and skills and it was the younger Omotayo that scaled through with 12-10 win to claim the second gold medal for Nigeria in the table tennis event of the multi-sports fiesta.
Although the likes of Ese Brume also won gold for Nigeria in the women’s long jump and Shogbamu Bolanle in boxing, the icing on the cake was the Falconets’ gold medal in the women’s football event.
Bad for badminton
It was however not too good for Nigeria in badminton where only one gold medal was won in the four final matches the team members played on Thursday at the 12th African Games.
The only gold medal was won by Anuoluwapo Opeyori who beat Georges Julien Paul of Mauritius in the Men’s Singles.
Dorcas Adesokan lost the Women’s Singles to South Africa’s Johanita Scholtz.
While the pair of Deborah Ukeh and Dorcas Adesokan were beaten in the Women’s Doubles by Hadia Elsaid and Doha Toufic of Egypt.
Awaiting champions
Going into the last day of action before the closing ceremony, Egypt are home and dry in the first position on the overall medals table. They presently have a massive 79 gold 87 silver and 63 bronze medals.
It would also take a miracle for South Africa, who currently have eight gold medals less than Nigeria, to return to the second position as most of the games where they have medal prospects have been concluded.

Sportdab: Nice's first game since being taken over by Britain's richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe descended into chaos after it was temporarily suspended due to banners and chants, MySportDab reports.
Clement Turpin, the referee for the Ligue 1 fixture against Marseille, went to speak with Nice boss Patrick Vieira before concluding the game needed to be halted for 10 minutes while the issue with the supporters behind one of the goals was sorted.
'We can't stop a game every time some idiots do something, otherwise we'll never play, it's nonsense,' Nice midfielder Wylan Cyprien told Canal+ during the stoppage in play.
Concerns were raised five minutes before the decision was made to temporarily suspend the match as the stadium announcer looked toplead with supporters to end insulting behaviour.
'We ask you to stop these insulting remarks, otherwise the match will be interrupted,' the message over the PA system said, as reported by RTL.
Nice's players, led by former Bayern Munich defender Dante, went over to the supporters believed to be the offending party in a bid to strike an agreement to end the taunts.
But the players quickly retreated having seemingly failed to engage in a positive dialogue.
