thegoodjoehunt3: Deep in your heart, you believed Oasis007 referred to your stance before Coach Keshi became the coach of the Super Eagles.
So when safarigirl mentioned you putting your neck on the line, do you think she was talking about before Coach Keshi.
You already cleared it. You were not behind Coach Siasia before Suwon Tourney, that was before the Olympics. So, you never put your neck on the line.
I wanted that cleared because safarigirl was not on the thread that period to note that you were not in support of Coach Siasia before the Suwon Tourney.

I am not talking Imoh and Sadiq Umar. I clearly stated Siasia and I never saw you as someone who stood behind Siasia. Celebrating Umar making the list does not mean standing behind the coach.
You pretended as if you were Siasia thick and thin. When you clearly stated later that before Suwon, you stopped supporting him.
We can move on. You were not behind the coach. @bolded is very funny. Pretended! I stood behind Siasia thick and thin since is exploit with the U20, U23 and the National team(before Keshi). I also stood behind Siasia throughout the qualifiers and the Africa U23 tournament. You can verify that by going through my earlier comments on this thread. So, when and why did I withdraw my support? It was when he became the interim coach of the Super Eagles and it was because his list was questionable. That's all. So, i am not behind Siasia for now. I was only celebrating Sadiq Umar and Imoh Ezekiel. That's all. Bros, my points are clear. |

If you gave up on Coach Siasia before the Suwon Tourney, then there is no need wearing the heroic cloak as the one who believed in him. Hehehe! Trust and given up are two different things to me. However, I made it clear that I started supporting the team after my research on his selection. I made clear that that it was after I discovered that 90% of those players honoured his invitations, I changed my mind to support the team. I demonstrated that when I mistakenly listed 12 outfield players. You are my witness nau. But my celebration was not for Siasia but for Sadiq Umar and Imoh Ezekiel. I believe you know why it is so. |
Christianity Etc › Re: The God Of Old Testament And That Of New Testament Cannot Be The Same by forgiveness: 12:06am On Aug 11, 2016 |
Seun: In the Old Testament, God personally asked the Israelites to stone a man for gathering firewood on the sabbath day, but in the New Testament, Jesus blasts the Pharisees for being too strict about keeping the sabbath and allows his disciples to break it in letter, if not in spirit, repeatedly. After he died, Christians were permitted to disregard the sabbath completely. How did the God who personally oversaw the execution of a man for picking firewood on the sabbath suddenly change into a God that doesn't particularly care whether people keep the sabbath or not? The reason he gave for wanting people to keep the sabbath - that he created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th - certainly still applies.
Another difference is that the God of the Old Testament really hates foreskins - even though he created them! Even before his covenant with the Jews, he commanded his followers such as Abraham to circumcise their children. There's a bizarre incident in Exodus where God was literally trying to kill Moses over this issue of circumcision. This was when Moses was on his way to Egypt after God called him to free the Jews:
How could God go from almost killing the great prophet Moses for not circumcising his son to inspiring Apostle Paul to write the words below? Sabbath is the shadow of Jesus. 'I am the Lord of Sabbath' Moreover, the law was given by Moses but grace came through Jesus. So, you are free to choose one. Foreskin is the removal of flesh, that is to cut off flesh from the skin which spiritual means removing the flesh (distrust, canal etc) from the heart. 'circumcision is of the heart' KJV:But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 KJV:Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 KJV:But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. The genesis is what you need to know Sir then you will understand. |

It is good to expose the culture, faces and beauty of the Northerners because here in the South we don't have any idea of how they look like due to the Northerners strict religious beliefs that forbid their women from exposing their faces and to marry outside their religion.
That has really affect us as country and has denied us the privilege to express our fundamental human rights.
However, I wish the op or anyone interested to open a thread that will afford us the opportunity to choose the most beautiful tribe in Nigeria.
How do we go about it?
Every tribe should post the pictures of the most beautiful girls or women from their tribe on that thread and after that each tribes should choose the best 5 most beautiful girls or women from their tribe for the grand finalise.
We will then all vote for the most beautiful. The tribe that has the highest numbers of the most beautiful girls within the top 10 will be chosen as the most beautiful tribe in Nigeria.
After we are done with the female then we will proceed to the male.
NafeesaAA what do you and the SpicyJosBaby think?
At least, Northerners and Southerns will get to know more about themselves. |

joseph1013: I have been wondering since yesterday o. Forgiveness that does not believe in any Nigerian coach. He was condemning the local players including Etebo. I was doubly surprised when forgiveness was beating his chest too. I was just laughing.
I didn't want to add to the war of words that's why I didn't respond to oasis. It's a convenient position he has taken. We would never have heard from him if Siasia took the woeful squad he paraded during the Suwon tournament and had failed woefully.
Anyway, I'm here to enjoy the tournament. Bros, haba! It is true I stopped believing in any Nigerian coaches after I saw what Keshi and Emmanuel Amuneke did with their teams and after Siasia selection against Egypt. Siasia was the only coach I supported before he started selecting mediocre players during his last short stay as the Super Eagles interim coach. This is because I love his style of attacking football and I still rate him above Emmanuel Amunike by far. But I don't support bad selection of players which is based on nepotism. However, I wanted to know why he selected these players and that was what led me to discover that these players where the only ones that honoured his invitations and eventually helped him to qualify for the Olympics football game. It is logical normal for him to call these sets of players ahead of those who loves their clubs than the National team. It was then I changed my mind to stop criticising his final selection. You will notice it from that time I set up how my first eleven will look like recently because I have changed my mind to support the team. But it doesn't mean I support Siasia for now. About Etebor Ogehnekaro, there was no time I did not include him on my list because it was glaring he helped us qualify for the Olympics football game. Although, I don't support some home based players mentioned here ahead of some established foreign based players. Lastly, I can only see Mikel and Sadiq Umar as the only players add to that team and nothing more. So, what is the big difference? |

Nobody needed to convince or confuse any1 here. His selections and friendlies results were there to see. Which included repeated trashing by d Flying Eagles.
Every single person that criticed Siasia's team selection had every reason to do so. In our very eyes, our best talents were being neglected for mediocre players and u expect the pundicts here to clap for Siasia abt that?
I still feel we could have produced a better team than this sef.

MY WORST AND BEST MOMENTS OF PAST OLYMPICS.
Worst moments: Seoul 1988: Nigeria 0-4 Brazil.
Nigeria paraded a highly rated squad of some of the then young emerging players. Some players from that squad(as far as i can remember): Sam Okwaraji, Emeka Eziugo, David Ngodiga among others. Coming fresh from a 4-0 defeat suffered at Chile '87 WYC, we all applauded as Nigeria was drawing 0-0 at half time more so as we were d better side!
The Brazilian coach made 2 substitutions at half time and the rest is history. Romario and Bebeto tore into shreads our defense exposing David Ngodiga and we conceded 4 goals!
I wept!
Best moments: Atlanta 1996: Brazil 3-4 Nigeria.
It was the semi final match.
Nigeria featured a highly talented and experienced squad. It was like a complete super Eagles team without Rufai, Finidi, Iroha, Keshi & Eguavoen( the later 3 names were already rounding up their careers).
Imagine a team that had Amuneke, Amokachi, Oliseh, Kanu, Babayaro, Ikpeba, Taribo, Okocha, Okparaku and Okechukwu, In one starting 11 line-up!
Brazil had Bebeto, Ronaldo De Lima, Cafu, Ze Roberto, Roberto Carlos, Joninho, Dida among others.
Brazil led 3-1 at half time. Our only goal was even an own goal credited to Babayaro. Okocha blew away a penalty in 2nd half. Ikpeba pulled a goal back to make it 3-2. And at the stroke of 90mins Kanu worked his wonder and scored a kind of goal even Messi and Ronaldo of today would nt b calm enough to score.
A counter attack in the first half of Extra -time ended it as Kanu volleyed the ball into d net off from a through pass from Victor Ikpeba.
I wept for joy & jumped down from d balcony of a storey building to celebrate with my friends who were already setting the streets alight with the song "Ose, Ose o, Ose o, Ose Baba!".
We won d final bt d joy was nothing like the semi final win over Brazil.
Guys lets hear ur experiences. Dnt mind me, I am old school. No matter how old or recent it is, lets share.
cc: TheGooJoe, Tbaba1234, Joseph1013, safarigirl, Bascovanveli, confun, lakesidepapa, forgiveness, other forumites too Hmm! I have been attending a programme.... hence my late reply. Appology tendered. 1996 Olympics football team was the first I had passionately followed perpetually with keen interest. This is because of the likes of Kanu Nwankwo, J. J Okocha and Victor Ikpeba which were the catalyst that allured me to that team. It started from the qualifiers to the last friendly against Togo at the National stadium which we lost disgracefully. In fact, all hopes were lost that day and because of that poor display, it prompted the crowd at the stadium to unknowingly hail stones at these super stars that won us a gold medal for the first time. The rest they say is history. |

5 REASONS WHY FLYING EAGLES CRASHED OUT
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will not be in Zambia next year to defend the U20 AFCON trophy they won last year after they were shocked out of the qualifiers by Sudan. The excitement of having won a record fifth U17 World Cup in Chile in November got the better of coach Emmanuel Amuneke, his assistants and even the players, who felt they have arrived on the world football stage after what they had achieved in South America. They probably equated the demands of U17 football to that what is expected of a team at a higher U20 level, where the players are a lot more matured with some even knocking on the door of the full international side. Such thinking almost derailed coach Manu Garba last year, before he welcomed superior ideas to open his team to players outside those he has previously worked with at the U17 cadre. The wrong assumption that there is not much difference between U17 and U20 has affected over time the appointment of the coaches for the Flying Eagles as well as the faulty selection of players for the country’s youth team. Poor tactics On a day the rains poured down on Lagos, Amuneke got his tactics totally wrong by still insisting on the boys playing his passing game on a waterlogged pitch, while the more experienced and bigger Sudanese chose the more practical kick and rush style to their advantage. The Flying Eagles lack of size certainly did not help their cause as they always played second best to their opponents even after they reduced to 10 men midway in the second half. When it was 3-3, Amuneke should have shut the game as a draw was enough to qualify Nigeria. Is Amuneke really the tactical genius he has been packaged as? Team not good enough The Flying Eagles Class of 2016 did not have the quality and had they managed to advance to Zambia 2017, they would have been badly exposed by better teams at the AFCON finals. Even at the U17 level, what got them going was their raw determination, the goals of Victor Osimhen as well as their conditioning.
The team were shut out from other players even after a much-advertised screening exercise as Amuneke insisted on working with only the players he tinkered at the U17 level. This killed the competitive spirit in the team as players in Amuneke’s U17 pool were always considered ahead of those who were outside this group. Team selection was biased and there was hardly a serious consideration for the physical size of the players especially in key positions like goalkeeper, defensive midfield and central defence. It must say something about the quality in this team that after all the hype and expectations, only a handful of these players have since secured contracts overseas.
Goalkeeper Akpan Udoh was safe at U17 level, but was clearly exposed at a higher level, the team’s defence was below average, skipper Kelechi Nwakali failed to shine after he was named MVP at the U17 level and Osimhen could not reproduce the magic that fetched him a pro deal a top Bundesliga club Wolfsburg. Both players, coaches lost focus At last year’s U17 World Cup, these same boys had fought like wounded lions to make a name for themselves even when they had not received any allowances and bonuses. Their character and focus were praised, but only eight months later, it was a different story altogether after it got out to the media that they threatened to boycott Saturday’s match over unpaid monies. Attitude and discipline were sacrificed for immediate financial gains. “They lost the game even before they kicked the ball because suddenly they lost their focus and drive,” a top former international told AfricanFootball.com It was also understood that several of these players openly challenged the instructions of their coaches with Amuneke also angling to be Super Eagles coach after he was brought on board in an interim capacity for the AFCON qualifiers against Egypt in March. For Amuneke, it was not about qualifying for the AFCON, but winning the elusive U20 World Cup in South Korea next year. It is possible nobody really told him that you first have to qualify for the AFCON before you could start targeting the World Cup. Inexperience and lack of exposure At the U20 level, experience is a major factor and these Flying Eagles lacked it because most of the players are still with academies with not one of them playing even in the lower Nigeria National League. It was only three years ago that the likes of Paul Pogba and Kurt Zouma helped France to win the U20 World Cup in Turkey and today they have established themselves at Juventus and Chelsea, respectively. Amuneke’s team prepared for these qualifiers by playing mediocre academies around Abuja with their only tough test games being against the country’s U23 team. Matches against Premier League sides like FC IfeanyiUbah, which could have toughened them and got them the much-needed experience and exposure, were rejected outrightly. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) would have done better by arranging for test matches in neigbouring countries like Benin and Ghana as was the case in previous years. Probably, these big wins in their friendlies mostly at their training base deluded them into thinking they were unbeatable until Sudan delivered the sucker punch right in front of their home fans. http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/2/841325881?-18946:4882:3@bolded na em I don dey talk teeee... tey. TheGoodJoe: There are other factors. It is not just blood. Someone can have the right talents, without the right exposure, he would not show his talent.
Iwobi at a very young age was exposed to bright football. Being a nephew of Jay Jay and playing with Jay Jay at a very young age helped nurture him at a tender age.
The training at Arsenal also helped him grow. However, what I am pointing out is first exposure. This defines a lot about a player.
Iwobi was exposed first to our kind of football, before the English game. So you can spot the difference in his game.
Thiago Alcantara was first exposed to the Brazilian game because of his dad and you see the difference in his game despite spending most of his life in Spain. So, at the age of 4 he has started playing football? |

So you are saying when Arsene Wenger signed Iwobi, he had spent more time in England than Nigeria. That is not true.
The influence is different.
Football influence affects the way you play. When a child is born and growing up, the influence affects him.
Iwobi will definitely be affected by the English culture. His trainings and playing among English folks.
However, he has a strong Nigerian influence in his game.
Also, your family members which play a major role in early development also affects a player.
So if you look at Thiago Alcantara for instance, you see the Brazilian influence from his family. His dad used to play for Brazil and you see also the Spanish influence in his game.
At the end, it is all about influence and exposure. I agree. But at what age did he relocate to England? |

Stephen Gerard, Lampard are brilliant players. However, despite the long range goals and some passes, those guys playing style do not blow my mind. At all.
I do not rate Gerard over Jay Jay. Jay was unbelievably brilliant and controlled the whole field. When Jay is on his day, it was close to magic.
Same goes to Kanu. His touch and quick thinking brings a different class in their games.
The foreign talents always have an edge when it comes to on the ball brilliance.
I will take Alonso over those guys any day. Who em skill epp? Dat is naija for you. If you can dribble you better pass Ronaldinho and Pele. Kanu Nwankwo was a part time play in his days. Though, he is talented. But bros, em never near those big boys. |
