Sunny4Gold: @travelpoint. Technically, visa officer officers are not really bothered about applicants closing balance, but history of the account (in flow, out flow, salaries and wages) are all taken into consideration which can also reflects the true financial status of applicants. Since you're travelling together and you are also responsible for his hotel and feeding during your visit, you should use caution when filling the visa form. For your Nephew, The cost of accommodation and the cost of living expenses should both be £0 Then for this question "Is someone other than you paying for all or part of your trip" Yes Please select what the relationship is of the person who is contributing to the payment for your trip: Uncle or Aunt. How much will they be paying towards your trip: (calculate the cost of accommodation and his feeding" but if you're staying together, make sure the hotel is suitable for two or more persons, then attach the booking confirmation. And for this question "Explain why they are paying towards the cost of the trip" the onus is on you to convince the ECO why you are sponsoring him to the UK for holidays. Another question "What is the total amount in GBP" do the calculation yourself, accommodation + feeding. Having said all the above, the ECO might still have doubt why you have to sponsor your nephew to the UK on holidays. To submit his application, you'll also provide some relevant documents e.g. employment, statement of account, letter to ECO explaining why you are paying for his accommodation and feeding. |

Spill I out because we all know you have technically defected and pledged your allegiance to APC. You're one of few politician who always engage in selling their influences and powers in an effort to secure personal achievements. TonyeBarcanista by all means, can be viewed as a "strong political prostitute" I was shocked how you defended the continuous incarceration of Col. Dasuki by the EFCC who a competent court of Jurisdiction has granted bails on three difference occasions. I just lost all respect for this great analyst "TonyeBarcanista" I have a letter for you. 1 Like |

profkehinde: With all due respect sir, but your story doesn't add up totally. A Nigerian professor's wife who is also a teacher suddenly abandoned her teaching job to stay back in the US? For what? A Nigerian full professor of medicine with a five years old child? Or did you mean to say grandchild? Sir you must be very lucky and among the few that have attained the highest academic ranking in "Nigerian" university at a young age with our Government bureaucracy. You're travelling next week, and she was supposed to return January 25th. Then it's not a problem at POE since she'll still be in the US as stated initially. Please tell madam to think about it again, but if she has the energy to face another stringent VO during her renewer, no troubles. Instinct tells me otherwise. If you are clean, you have nothing to fear. Best wishes. 1 Like |

I just hope I won't be selected for interview during renewal. Their wahala too many. GOD bless Nigeria, GOD bless our oil. 3 Likes |

We commend your magnanimity for creating time to attend to intricate questions here despite your busy schedule. We cannot change your visa policy and moreover you didn't enact nor created those laws, but the point is, The US government should revisit those laws especially the refusal letter to be more detailed to serve as a guide for genuine applicants the same way it is done by the UK and Canadian Government. Remain Blessed. |

Dear Visa officer. Sincerely, we appreciate your interest here. Posting this for the interest of the majority because I feel concerned with comments here especially that of @Jengem Don't you consider it a harsh decision to adjudged that an applicant is ineligible because you assumed he/she has failed an oral interview conducted within few minutes? I still believe visa officers shouldn't base most of their decisions more on applicants’ answers to their questions. We understand document fraud is rampant and visa officers cannot rely on local documents. Why not adopt document verification by a professional after an applicant has been interviewed in person, same way it is done at the German and UK consulates? a decision can then be reached after 3-10 working days to allow time for rigorous vetting, background and security checks. If an applicant is found wanting for wilful misrepresentation and fraud, then a life ban should be immediately imposed on them. I strongly believe this policy will help deter intending applicants with the intention of submitting fraudulent documents. The interview is not enough to reject genuine applicants due to different factors and it has never helped in curbing visa fraud in its entirety. Lastly. What is the rationale in giving a generic rejection letter (214B) to unsuccessful applicants because I understand each application is treated on its own merit and every visa officer also must have reasons why he/she is approving or refusing an applicant? In the law court; for different offences, there are different charges, penalties and punishments. For instance " Let's assume Mr. XYZ visited the consulate in 2012 and was rejected under section 214B because he has no family ties. Two years later, Mr. XYZ got married with a child and was still adjudged ineligible under section 214B. In 2015, Mr XYZ bought a house, reapplied and still got rejected with same letter. How then do you expect Mr XYZ to know where he's gone wrong with this same letters on three different occasions? The UK, Germany, Canada will always give detailed reasons for every rejection to allow genuine applicants readjust and restrategise. In conclusion and my own opinion, the generic rejection letter is not enough. Each applicant needs to know precisely why he/she is getting a rejection under section 214B. Many thanks and remain blessed for your cooperation. 9 Likes |

abnot: There is no way a civil servant with 57k salary will receive a visa if he/she presents a statement of account with closing balance of N10m without properly demonstrating the source of funds. The UKBA lay so much emphasis on how incomes are generated and applicants are selected randomly for visa interview, therefore if you do not support your application with paper evidence, how then do you explain to the ECO how funds in your account were generated? It has been said severally on this thread that ALL sources of funds must be properly demonstrated and it's only through paper evidence since you're unlikely to be interviewed. The poster's application was rejected because he/she failed to demonstrate that his/her employment/business that generates the stated income is substantial enough to bring him/her back to Ghana or neither was the ECO satisfied that the employment/business is subsisting and generates the said income. In a nutshell poster was punished for money lodgement. 1 Like |

@Simplesoul05 If you have N1billion in your bank account without proof of funds, employment/work history e.t.c; your application will be rejected. But a man with just N100k in his account can easily get a visa with a healthy statement of account and good employment/work history. In a nutshell, it is imperative to maintain a proper bank statement and profile. Also a good job history will increase your chances. If you have 400k deposited into your without a substantial paper evidence prior to your visa application, I'm afraid you will be rejected. |

KeishSunshine: It's not a factor that determines the successful outcome of a visa. Each application is treated on its own merit. Your purpose of visit and accommodation must be genuine. If your statement of account is healthy without money logdement, your work documents intact and marriage certificate and picture included, your chances are high. You can also list the documents you're submitting for review. |

KeishSunshine: Tax clearance certificate or tax card are meant for business owners especially the smaller ones. It is a requirement to allow ECO evaluate their businesses to determine if the business is legitimate and subsisting. In your own case; you're an employee of a reputable organisation judging by your net salary per month. Your pay slip showing your monthly tax deduction which is remittable to the Government by your company is sufficient. Best wishes. |

salsera: If you are a frequent traveller to the UK, US, Canada or the any Schengen state for at least three times in one year, you're qualified for a interview waiver. If you also hold a Schengen visa and you've used same visa to travel more than three times in one year, you are also qualified for the interview waiver. Finally, if you have been issued a one year multiple entry visa and have travel at least once with same visa, you're still qualified to submit your application without attending the visa interview at the consulate. Hope it helps? |

We all can't be fooled at the same time. It is even laughable the Government agency (EFCC) is trying so hard to justify its gross disregard to court orders and the rule of law. He was arrested, why mention his party? Perhaps to announce to the gullible ones that the agency is not selective in carrying out its statutory functions by arresting a mere caretaker? 2 Likes |
