Baba.. Even me too I hardly buy clothes then as all my clothes are old. To cut hair is problem. It got bad that I only needed only 3k to transport for Nysc Camp then, I started begging people . All my hustle gone with betting. Until when I stopped it my life changed totally . Now I'm gainfully employed. Savings increased astronomically. I can eat what I like, send my parents money, change nice clothes without no worry, I can even take my girl out to the cinema and beach on weekend. If I'm still in betting all these money will be collected by Akin Alabi.THESE HAPPENS BECAUSE I STOPPED BETTING.

You lost 170k but I made $1000 profit. In every face of life, there are winners and there are losers. There are rich and there are poor people. Change your mindset and get some training. Education is very very deep. You even need luck to stay alive.
Go Sidon joor.. You made 1k dolls.. I bet you've lost x3 such amount

I was once in such situation. Until I stopped betting entirely then I got my sanity.
Betting is disastrous. If you are working and betting you are on a potential time bomb yet to explode.

I thank God I bet no more.
Even Nairaland knows me during those times.. I lost everything.

This is where the issue is, the name on my upwork account is not the same with my local bank account name.
My question is this, In the future Won't there will be any problem with that.. or should I just set up another payment method. Thanks in advance for your contributions.
Why don't register another payoneer account using your upwork name. You can no dull yourself

In writing, there's something we call MILESTONE.

I don't craft up to 5k words, and you don't pay for it. I am not stupid.

Desperation is the major cause of such losses.

I once lost $196 to a client due to desperation; I even took his fake ID to Shiloh grin

The truth is, I learned the hard way.

If a client can't pay for the much I have done, I'd rather not work. I'll just pick up a book and improve myself by reading a book.

So, you should see yours as a lesson and ensure it doesn't happen again.

But the sweetest part of my story is that today, I use countless jobs I did for the con artist to apply for jobs online, and I earn good money with them. Yes, u may call my experience a blessing in disguise

Next time, use MILESTONES.

Anyways, sorry for your loss...just make sure it doesn't repeat.
We live to learn. Thanks

There are honest Nairalanders here and there are also a few bad eggs. I am presently in a similar scenario: I sent a job to a guy here last week Friday and till now, he's yet to pay. He gives different excuses every day. I will state his moniker later today if he doesn't pay up.

This other guy, misterdhee1, is also trying to bilk me. On Wednesday, I sent him 3 articles, well-written and top-notch, and he refused to send the payment for 2 of them. He only sent a part payment for 1, saying his client didn't accept the other ones.

When asked for a proof of his claim, he forwarded a picture to my WhatsApp, where he was only chatting with himself. Even in that picture, the topics he sent to me, which I wrote articles for him on, are different from those shown in his so-called proof.

I will post pieces of evidence of all these later today when I am less busy.
Yes some are honest. I made a reasonable sum from a Nairalander here last week. What I'm trying to say is that, those guys with big projects should be investigated before doing their job

This is wickedness. Why not call out the person's moniker and phone number here so people can be ware of him/her
Let me not expose him yet maybe God might touch his heart soonest.

Seriously, I'm not happy. The pain I went through in the course of that job only God knows. I also denied myself little project that always fetch me something to live on during the period of my writing.
I'm OK with my steady small projects with cash flow than bigger ones.
