I saw a video of a Nigerian custom officer shooting a young man who they claimed refused to give him bribe. It was sickening. Life gone just like that because we think we have to fight violence with violence. The way forward is to support legislation that rids Nigeria of firearms, as much as possible, and we work hard to control our borders so guns are not smuggled in easily.

The reason civil defense is included is so that your local vigilante will no longer be able to carry a gun at night. I just hope where you stay is secured to such extent that the Nigerian police will respond to to you at night when you are attacked by robbers.
