teepain: Without taking sides, I can attest to the fact that Lagos state have a record of putting out fire in different areas of Lagos State. At least, I know of a family friend that benefitted from their services. Recently, they put out fire on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway; oko-baba, Ladipo and some other places. A search on google would provide you with other recent episodes that required the intervention of the Lagos State fire-fighters. I guess you know one and we read of incidences of fire outbreak that nothing was done. Part of the challenges with the fire services is non access to water because Lagos State Government successfully destroyed our water pipe system. |

LegendHero: So why is the said Innoson truck configured for people to fetch water from the truck?
In Lagos alone, there are multiple truck and vehicle assembly plant like Innoson and that doesn’t stop Lagos government from getting better fire trucks
Obi is a cheap clown. I’m sure he would have told Innoson to only build a substandard truck which explained why it brought shame to Anambra when they needed it most.
Below is a Firetruck in Lagos, can you compare this to the lorry Obi the clown commissioned in that photo?
Suffer never tire Anambra people, I’m sure when it gets to the highest level, they will start asking Obi questions on why he saved that money instead of buying better trucks. Despite the trick, how many fire have they been able to put out? Do they have access to water at all? Wonder why you all need put up lies to defend what doesn't really exist. |

ImaIma1: 4 in primary 2. Term started in sept. She clocked 5 in Oct.
Challenge the child in other aspects like what? A child that is very interested in academics. Should you redirect such a child? And when later the child mellows down and loses that passion to learn because of our mindset and set ways, would that be better? Don't let us stress this, she is your daughter and you know how best to raise her. |

Family › Re: I Need A Mentor For My 10 Years Old Son. by GboyegaD(m): 11:10pm On Nov 08, 2022 |
ImaIma1: Yes. That should be put into consideration. I'm actually talking about a child that relates better with kids older than her, enjoys Mr Bean animated series and older kids cartoons rather than peppa pig or paw patrol, asks questions a whole lot and is very eager to learn new things, new words. Sometimes it is exhausting.
A child that will not rest till she does her homework. And after she is done, she disturbs you to give her extra homework and even tells her teacher to give her more homework.
What do you do with a child like that, one that has a great passion for learning ehn Mr Gboyega? I don't know how best to explain this however, there is more to it than schoolwork. Challenge the child in other aspects and let her have a balanced growth instead of rushing classes. 4 in Primary 2 doesn't just seem right. An alternative will be home schooling and that way, she isn't pressured by the school system and you can also ensure a balance all round. |
Family › Re: Married Folks, How Did You Plan Your Wedding? by GboyegaD(m): 8:43pm On Nov 08, 2022 |
In my case, I knew I wasn't willing to spend so much and also, I wasn't looking for too many people at my wedding, so we sat down together to draw out our budget. I contributed 60% while she did 40%. We chose a venue close to the church for our traditional (it was the hotel we lodged our parents and siblings) and we agreed no reception. At that point, we informed both parents of the date we chose and told our siblings as well. Most important thing was we had a number in mind (70 guests from both sides) although, on her side, the number was more than was agreed and the parents later apologized that it was some close family members that told some other people. She was also too conscious of colleagues she knew she wasn't going to work with anymore after the wedding, but I had to understand because she felt she had worked long with them, attended their wedding, and as a boss, she couldn't do without inviting them. She is beginning to learn that no be everybody person dey tell things to and that is the good side. One thing that almost caused trouble was the church. They kept acting like God and at some point, I almost canceled that part of it. The interesting thing is I haven't spoken to her pastor/marriage committee after that day because there is no need to. She rarely speaks to him as well (may be once or twice a year). I think our religious institutions should learn to remember that they have no business in people's home as that would earn them the respect, they should get instead of trying to shove it down people's throat. The idea of shoving it down would never help as it means, they do not get any respect whatsoever. Marriage is about two people and I do not know why some think it is about them and not even the couple. Most importantly, the buy in you need is that of your partner. |
Agriculture › Re: In Nigeria, We Love Building Houses More Than Agriculture by GboyegaD(m): 6:10pm On Nov 08, 2022 |
BluntCrazeMan: Let's discuss this issue of Subsistence Farming.. I support it.. Being that, instead of being lazy, go into subsistence farming. That's what people in the village do. They rent lands of people who live in the city, and farm on them. No matter how little they realise from such farming.
So, what are your reasons for saying that it should be discouraged? In third world country, what we see is a larger percentage of people farming for food that is not sufficient for a reasonable population. In advanced countries, less than 5% of the population are into farming and they have more than enough to feed their nation and export. Subsistence farming takes so much of time and energy with very little yield. I am okay with people having gardens where they plant their spices and other regular produce particularly vegetables while other things are gotten from the market. This could be done alongside their regular business or career. |
Agriculture › Re: In Nigeria, We Love Building Houses More Than Agriculture by GboyegaD(m): 2:28pm On Nov 08, 2022 |
One need not use the entire land to plant and if one doesn't live around the land, what happens? If you are trying to encourage people having gardens in their house, good however, if it is full farming, very bad. Subsistence farming should be discouraged. |

ImaIma1: I don't think there's anything wrong with a child being in a higher class based on capacity. It's better than that child being in a class that we think their age should be in while they remain unchallenged and undermaximized.
Some parents actually hold their children back from reaching their maximum capacity with the excuse that they don't want to rush the child. And this happens a lot with Nigerian parents.
My daughter was put in pry 2 at 4yrs. She just clocked 5 now. She's very studious and always pushes herself. Holding her back would not have helped her.
It is left for us to monitor these children and push them in the right direction according to their strengths and capabilities. Don't you think maturity is very key? The challenge sometimes is that you meet the Nigerian kid who is termed smart however, is very shallow because the brain is not capable of having real discuss and has been forced to grow due to the pressure of the educational system that allows for imbalanced growth. |
