jl115: if the state has to bail out private companies then those companies are not private and the market is not capitalistic in nature.
Nigeria is not a full blown capitalist economy. There are different forms of capitalism and Buharism mixes everything. Buhari himself is confused. Perhaps he is still on his model called Buharism which was coined after his 1983 Government.
That, added to work on the dams and AKK gas pipeline, Nigerian electricity issues would definitely be solved before or around 2024. These are things Obasanjo and Jonathan should have worked on.
jl115: exactly what the word suggests.... If politicians have their hands in the cookie jar then it isn't free of Government influence.... And thus does not adhere to the definition of privatisation/ capitalism.
You don't get it. I mean the deals were non beneficial in the end. Sold to incompetent, or corrupt people or sold less than the ideal prices with no benefit to the masses in the end. Removing Atiku from the equation, generally in my view, Government should have at least 30% ownership in the major businesses. Hence I'm not excited by the idea of privatisation.
obaaderemi: Tinubu is a better manager of resources than obasanjo or Okonjo. He dreams big, like he did for Lagos when he was governor. And swatting aside the grand fulani coalition against a southern presidency to emerge his party's candidate shows he hasn't lost his touch despite age and recent battles with his health.
By the time a progressive such as Tinubu finishes 8 years, Nigeria would solidify its rightful place and there would absolutely be no reason for a debate with countries such as Kenya on development.
Hopefully. Although the momentum of the youths at the moment seem to be swayed towards PO.
rvp2018: If Obasanjo is still eligible why not elect him. He was by far the best president of Nigeria. Next you can ask WTO to release DG Okonjo - that one woman who can fix Nigeria. But I agree Tinubu if he is healthy is way better than useless VP of Buhari - that weakling of a prof.
Whatever you do - look for a reformist - for Nigeria NEED RADICAL DEEP REFORMS - that only Obasanjo was able to undertake as he switched the country from military dictatorship to democracy.
The current VP look like a quintessential conformist. Obina might be hobbled by Igbo exceptionalism.
The other guy - who lost to the useless Buhari - is also good. I guess he comes from north and Nigeria is tearing apart on it's seams and another Northerner will just send it more and more to civil war.
Obasanjo was great at what he was great at and very terrible at what he was terrible at. @ the bolded, if you mean Atiku, I'll say Buhari to me is better than an Atiku. Atiku is no good. Atiku is big on privatisation, and privatisation of everything is not the way to go. Also, Atiku has a case of corruption from the U.S pending against him.
rvp2018: Ruto who is one front runner is now live on NTV. I am personally deeply involved in his campaigns and I cannot be objective - but I believe Ruto will beat Raila like an african drum. Ruto is intelligent, charismatic, well spoken, hardworking and a natural leader in the mold of Meles Zenawi, Kagame and Museveni in East Africa.
Balogunodua: They claim Tinubu steal...yet increased Lagos GDP from 600million to 80+ billion dollars...while the Pandora thief called Obi can't even increase Anambra GDP to 20...
Tinubu remains a nightmare to his haters
You are mixing it up, he increased Lagos IGR from 600 million naira not GDP.
Balogunodua: He did for them what they will never do for others in their region.. he is the most detribalized politician in Nigeria, but still they hate him because he is not Igbo. If he was they would have been singing his praise, like the Obi the Pandora thief...
But guess they can't stopped a moving train ....
Lol, if you call Obi Pandora theif, we all know Tinubu is also corrupt. I'd prefer we discuss Governance and abilities because all of the guys in this race cannot claim to be free from corruption.
The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), has procured 2,322 gas-powered Nigeria-built buses for its fleets in the 774 local government areas in the country.
Inaugurating the buses on Friday in Abuja, the Director-General, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Jelani Aliyu, commended RTEAN for patronising indigenous auto manufacturers for its vehicles.
The NADDC DG said: “It’s very exciting to see that all the vehicles were built in Nigeria by an indigenous company.
”I hereby congratulate the Executive National Chairman of RTEAN, Alhaji Musa Maitakobi, for the commitment to buy the Nigerian built OMAA vehicles.”
He further called on all transport associations in the country to emulate the RTEAN and key into the National Gas Expansion Programme, by patronising Made-in-Nigeria Gas Powered Vehicles.
Aliyu said: “What was witnessed was a testimony to the fact that the implementation of the National Automotive Industry Development Plan, NAIDP, by the NADDC is yielding results.
Kuruptnigga: Lmao. Ok now bro, to your own opinion. You have seen both candidates achievements. Which of them did well during their tenure as a governor.
Well to be honest, in Tinubu's case, you have some people defending him from within the first two pages and they in turn listed some of his perceived achievements in real time. In Obi's case, I found only one person who tried to defend him. I don't know for now, but hopefully the best man wins.
samorobo: Will tinubu steal and work? Yes he will. Will his development be one one-sided and malicious, hell the fvck yeah. South west will reap his investment, and maybe some northern states. He would give a fvck about south-east. He is a tribalism and there is no better way to say it.
I like the fact that he wouldn’t be a pushover to the Fulani’s and can end this insecurity.he is a tough man but then again his health is everything to worry about.
Samboro read this thread from 2007. Tinubu appoints Igbo man as commissioner. Except we are saying Tinubu has become tribalistic against the Igbos within the last 15 years.
Deltamani: There’s no need to rate them cause Asisat Oshoala isn’t in their Class… Maybe you can bring in Uchenna Kanu and Compare with them..
Asissat Oshoala is great no doubt. I am not rating based on what they have achieved necessarily. Of course Oshoala is the most decorated African female footballer, I was rating based on their efficiencies as strikers. For instance, Eto is a better player than Rudd Van Nisterroyl and Eto is also more decorated, but I consider Rudd a slightly better finisher than Eto in terms of the number of chances they may take in a game and how they position themselves to take those chances. So I can say Rudd is arguably a slightly better finisher than Eto but not necessarily a better player.
samorobo: I don’t know,I was probably too you f to experience what tinubu leadership was like but fashola was great for me. I don’t just like tinubu,he reeks of thievery and extreme corruption, not to mention tribalism, most especially to the Igbo’s.
I have heard that in Tinubu's Government of Lagos, both Igbos and Hausas were employed in that Government. If true, I don't think such a man hate Igbos but what do we know? If he truly hates Igbos as you say, then that would be a shame.
mycar: In addition to roads, complexes and other infrastructures built by Peter Obi, there is nothing more powerful than human capital development, if you doubt me, build all the mansion in the world, if you do not train your children to be successful in life, all your efforts will go down the drain before your very eyes. I wonder how people will choose 1983 Mercedes 190 over 2022 Mercedes G-Wagon just because he used to like the 190 when he was much younger.
I disagree, infrastructure matter more. All state Governors for instance have been failures for not being able to provide portable water.
popizaino: Fashola ,he was simply extraordinaire, although Tinubu gets the stick because he set the precedent to which fashola was able to work on but fashola transformed Lagos.
For me, I just want a person who would take Electricity seriously and out of all them, Tinubu seem to be the only one who has made a move on that so far while in office, but I'm still comparing criticism of Peter Obi and Tinubu at the moment, to see the ones we can cope with. I know a lot about their strengths already, though still comparing both.
Kuruptnigga: ehhn, my brother don’t even go there. Even the lagosians will not agree with you. Tinubu did absolutely nothing in Lagos. Fashola made lagos what’s it today bro.
Kuruptnigga tell me what your thoughts are on this thread. If possible you can refute two or three complaints and that would be fine. This is a thread from 2012.
Schemerkhiz: That was what some people said when Cameroonian Njoye Adjara Nchout moved to Atletico Madrid Femenino some time ago, Same was said about Thembi kgatlana moving to Atletico, these people tends to hype this players too much thinking it's easy to fit into a Coach pattern.
Rating her 3rd Africa best goal Scorer ahead of some names is an insult... It's your Choice though..
Since you mentioned two Ex-players let me also name the likes of Cynthia Uwak, Genoveva Anonman did you watch them at all?..
For me Njoye Adjara cannot be compared to Babara Banda and definitely not Thembi Kgatlana. I would definitely rate Oshoala above both. I didn't really pay much attention to Genoveva (probably due to conspiracy theories on her then), but even then Genoveva faded out too quickly. With Cynthia Uwak you may have a point.
Barbara is talented, her biggest problem is injury and I have been following her since 2018 in the Cosafa games alongside Chawinga in Malawi.
jl115: you do know traffic jams is bad thing right?..... It means your road infrastructure is inadequate
Abuja is becoming more populated by the day and it's still being built based on it's initial plan in the 1980's, only some phases have been completed. With the population now swelling to around 6 million people from the initial 4 million some years ago, I am not surprised we are beginning to see these kind of traffic jams.
obaaderemi: If we go by their antecedents, Tinubu is head and shoulders above Atiku. He was trained as an accountant in the US and his experience of working in some of the world's biggest multinationals is priceless.
And he did well in Lagos too, although I still don't understand why he couldn't provide at least 60% portable water for Lagos as governor. And affordable housing too like jakande did. And his health and age are concerns too. But out of the whole bad lot, Tinubu stands out. And any politician who can outsmart the fulanis like he did deserves a lot of respect.
One thing we should also understand though is that Obasanjo frustrated his effort a lot by withdrawing allocations for some time and so they had to work with funds Lagos generated. Also, but for Obasanjo, Tinubu had made moves to secure constant electricity for the state in 2004 but was again frustrated based on the National grid law (electricity being on the exclusive list and duty of Federal Government alone)
Like I always said, I would have preferred an Osinbanjo, Amaechi, Moghalu, Peter Obi, Tinubu in that order. Now that Amaechi, Osinbanjo, and Moghalu have been all kicked out, I am undecided . Atiku is a no no for me. I'll rather have a Kwankwanso than an Atiku, because I don't believe in heavy privatisation of assets.
