Mkenya2019: Pure nut case. Kenya is top 10 in global good. Kenya has always been well known. Not only as only UN HQ in the global south, as the Oasis of peace in war torn Africa, as one most progressive countries, Nairobi is now literally the HQ of Africa - competing with Joburg.
As for Nigeria - you're known as corrupt enclave that generates thugs and drug dealers. You probably the most infamous country on planet earth.
Kenya rise is not "new" thing..Nigeria and Ghana recently emerged from 40yrs of military dictatorship - and rejoined civilized nations. Both countries became democratic - 2002 - 20yrs ago
South Africa did well under Mandela - from pariah state - they expanded regionally - and became a force to reckon with - and post-Zuma they are going down.
As for Nigeria - apart from Goodluck and Obasanjo - your Buhari and your former military leaders are butt of jokes.
At least Buhari (for all his shortcomings) is not a model of the Kenyatta family. One family ruling a country and hiding much of her wealth overseas.
AfriqueDuZuid: Because the tend to think others are not making any progress, they are improving yes babysteps
Fact is their urbanization rate is 28% half of those in urban areas lives in slums. Paved network at 20k km, etc
Same way people think Rwanda is advanced, while it's countries like Namibia, Botswana are doing the most for small countries
Exactly. Rwanda for instance seem to be more about Kigali just the way Kenya is very focused on Nairobi but in SA there are many cities with good urban development. You even have 3 capitals.
In Nigeria, there have always been Lagos and Abuja. However, Kaduna is developing even more rapidly than Abuja at the moment. Road construction and flyovers in PortHarcourt has been the norm for the past 4 years. Uyo and Calabar are industrializing rapidly as well as Borno state which was bedeviled by the BokoHaram crises. We are not even talking about Lagos with the light rails and projects going on.
However, with all of these we know Nigeria should be doing much more but its' funny to see how the Kenyans brag about even lesser things like mere road construction in a tiny part of the capital as the face of development in Africa
Kazikazi: which wildlife? Most of those wildlife u see are Tanzania's animals from Serengeti national park. Even the amboseli national park cant survive without Kilimanjaro national park
You are right. I just mistook most of them for Kenya growing up, but I know better.
obaaderemi: You need to understand that Kenya is a small unimportant country. It was for decades seen as nothing but a hunting ground for white people, at an era where global attention was being paid to countries like Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.
The country only registered again on the world's radar when Barack Obama, a biracial man with some link to Kenya became president of America.
Their economy is small with nothing of significance to contribute to world economy plus the fact that the country wasn't producing people that made news on the global stage, and also no earth shaking events were taking place there.
Growing up I only knew about their wildlife (which is even more a thing in Southern Africa). I agree they are improving or making baby steps at the moment, but the things they love to brag about are laughable.
AfriqueDuZuid: Mozambique is managed by SADC, this Rwanda story is just France and Rwanda PR stunt
South Africa is always africa mouth piece, from G7, G20, WEF, BRICS,, etc even now with terms of covid, we already have infrastructure for medical enhancement but we choose to advocate funding for kenya, Rwanda, Ghana Ivory Coast etc to have such.
You seem not to be aware of SA businesses and companies in DRC that's why you tend to think when your small businesses enter DRC, it should be something worth celebrating, that it make national news in your country
I just don't understand them. The things the Kenyans claim here as big deals are quite laughable. So because they've started owning businesses in DR Congo, it automatically makes Kenya the super power of African Geopolitics .
samorobo: Pls let me know when Kenya hits this level. We are diversifying and also industrializing gradually. I give it 3 more years and our economy will be very solid and take a sporadic unprecedented turn.
I mean we are tapping into mining, gas sector,a train is being built in kaduna and will see transfer of Chinese technology on train production in the next 2 years. And now we have aircraft production. I say we are nailing the basics. Watch out africa, watch out.
Same was the case with Garuba lawal until he retired, and the crazy thing was that lawal was making the fist 11 starting line up, despite the fact that there was nothing special about him.
The North will always want a representative in the super eagles.
This I have seen.
Lawal was a utility player. Utility players are rare to find and would always be favoured by coaches.
Emperormartin: Musa will still make the team even under Eguaveon. In fact lemme burst your bubble; musa will go to the World Cup if Nigeria qualifies.
See eh there’s sth you guys don’t understand about Musa; he’s not there on merit; he’s representing the northern region whose numbers in the National team are becoming slimmer on each new day…
Must you bring tribe into everything? Na wa o, una matter dey tire person sometimes. When you go to the Western World, Oyinbo doesn't know or even care to know who is Hausa, Yoruba, or Igbo.
Mkenya2019: Nairobi Expressway - at 76.3% completion - all structural work to be done by end of the year - and road to be opened in April. Incredible pace. This will be done in almost 2yrs.
Why are you celebrating roads? Road construction takes place almost everywhere all the time. You are making me feel bad for Kenya.I thought Kenya was rich? you dey fall my hand oh, guy. Let's talk new industries or Railways, and flyovers, not mere road construction,
SAMWISE94: So because i can't travel freely to other countries from Ukraine, that makes Ukraine a dead-end? Lol. What's the big deal in applying for visiting visas to other parts of the world? Abeg...kindly carry your bad energy comot.
What are the benefits of Ukraine though? Does it offer much after studies in terms of jobs, PR and Citizenship? I ask because I used to see Ukraine as a transit point for Nigerians, where you go with the hope to get visas to other European countries.
Nigerian Army re-opens Damasak market after 7 years of shutdown. The town was the largest producer of Onions and Pepper where traders made billions selling to Chad and Cameroon, until Boko Haram made it their administrative capital in the dark days of the Northeast. Jubilation.
SUFFERInSMILIIN: Let me explain something to you it's not the cars are on the road is very bad can you put a brand new car on the road when did 1 km there are 60 portals it is just better to buy a old one and put it on the road you have to look at the logistics. A new cars most of them are computerised and computerized gearboxes and automatic gearboxes which do not like potholes a truth at all go and do a research. The worst Road for a computerised or automatic gearbox vehicle is bad Road the gearbox will not last at all so it's just better to buy a old donkey and put on the road which can enter all the portals
Mkenya2019: Once you go into an inevitable civil war - we will send AID.
We are already at war.The entire North has been taken over by BokoHaram and southerners are all fleeing to do drugs in South Africa. The rest are just suffering and smiling.
kikuyu33: Speaking of which rmbr our driving in the 90s? I was a regular on Nakuru highway and rmbr once crawling along a typically foggy July morning tailback near Kijabe. Suddenly a bus with full lights horn blaring passed me so close in oncoming traffic I felt the slipstream. That was normal Benways bus style! Those guys were MENTAL!? IIRC they'd race with competing Obuya bus ro Kisii 450 km to Kisii. Sometimes the turnboy would drive, goddammit! THIS was the era bus crashes would kill 30-40 every 6 months and even 80-90 in at least one horror smash a year
You still see stupid ISHYT on our roads but not that CRAZY ishyt. Imo if half of our CSs had his productivity and determination we'd be at Saffa levels economically by now.
EVERYONE else he brought that same energy to the hotel sector and built Windsor resort. Alas! The kids have fked up that place with inheritance squabbles.
Mkenya2019: We have been busy for last 4yrs offering AID-In-KIND or technical support - by showing you what a barren non-mineral economy can achieve - but obviously we are dealing with extremely daft people.
Hopefully many of you can realize just how messed up your country is and become change agent like SufferingAndSmilling.
Otherwise if you remained deluded that NIgeria is the GIANT of Africa - you will continue to sink deeper into poverty, chaos and eventually civil war.
Mkenya2019: We already knew that. I want you to do something about your country situation. Otherwise all of you just want to immigrate and never go back to Nigeria.
My country people are only interested in suffering and smiling.
Mkenya2019: Your country need prayers. If you check any road circuit video of kenya - you can see the cars are newer - not south africa new - but decent
Mkenya2019: Of course - Kenya police can send USSD with your number plate - and in a second knows if you have done annual vehicle inspection or not - and detain your car for being road unworthy.
For drivers - you log into road safety website - book your car in any inspection centers annually - if your pass - you get certificate
Mkenya2019: It's more state dysfunction and collapse...anything goes...
In kenya - no only do we have strict import controls - any commercial car including taxis have do to annual inspection to make sure they are road worthy.
Those road unworthy vehicles pose a danger to everyone and the enviroment.
Mkenya2019: They have stone age cars - because there is no import age restriction - and there is a lot of smuggling. It shocking see the kind of cars on their roads. In kenya it strictly 8 year (more like 7yr old) car - no compromise - and in future we want to move to 5yr old car. Even Uganda now have 15yr rule. For Nigeria - these guys are driving cars last seen in 1980s and 1990s.
IronGalaxy: n all of your pics why is that I never see proper cars like your BM's, Mercs. VWs etc, its always these run-down cars that I can't even tell their brands...is this state in Nigeria?
Of course Nigeria is very poor and these are the only cars you'll find in Nigeria. It's sad actually.
