leathalbeast: to be honest my Ghanaian girls have been rising steadily since they started rebuilding but Zambia is up there the world cup itself is a great exposure for them the black queen hadn't played against such a good side in a long so they were exposed a lot in the first half but they came good in the second. They had three clear cut chances to equalize but luck wasn't on their side. Zambia has the advantage in the second leg but the Ghanaian coach who is very good knows what is against now. Anything can happen. The Ghanaian team on a good day can also play counter attacking football but the honest truth is that Zambia has great finishers I have been saying it for long that the new coach needs that vital test. Before now, the best African side they played was Senegal which is just an average team in Africa. The second leg is going to be tougher for them because as you acknowledged, Zambia has great finishers, so if they play attacking football at home in Lusaka (which they would definitely do), trust Zambia to take at least one or two of those chances. |

Kudos to Kundinaji of Zambia. She ran the show as expected. |

Deltamani: 🚨𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒🚨 Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses are gearing up to go today against arch-rivals Super Falcons..
The team had their final practice-session at La Réunification Stadium yesterday evening, with the invited 23 players all on ground. But Cameroon is no arch rival to the falcons judging by records alone. It is even debatable to say South Africa is a rival or maybe I'm missing something. |

lovewins: Sometimes it's better to ignore arguments that lack foundation. In what world is the basis for the comparison? Right now there's none.
However, I'm glad Esther has signed a professional contract with a Spanish team just like JOE did a few weeks ago. We now have at the very least common ground for comparing both players. We'll come back to this in a few months to see. Maybe in dribbling yes. Esther is a better dribbler and that's all the average Nigerian fan sees. But even Jay Jay Okocha added other things to his game such as free kicks, shots on target, passing, etc. Echiegini for now is better but Esther needed exposure and she has it now. |

You call it corruption not subsidy that is a pedantic argument Others may call it incompetent. Whatever the case that is irrlevant We are not able to pay for subsidy. We cannot afford it. Even if there was no corruption we still have not got money for it. So again that is an academic point . We would have to borrow to pay any subsidy even if it was operated by angels. No one will lend us money for that now. But Govt has circled back to paying subsidy though due to the exchange rate difference from that time. |

DeepSight: Cart before horse. Remove subsidy gradually but make sure local refineries work fully first so you don't import petrol tied to the dollar. Float the naira if you must but make sure your are a net exporter first. Floatation of any local currency by an import dependent economy is suicide.
Besides, believe you me, even first world economies take measures to defend their currency. If you abandon your currency to the vagaries of the wind when you produce nothing, you are beyond daft. You are suicidal.
Cart before the horse. That's what's going on, and that's what you are championing. Tail wagging the dog. Upside down logic. So when Buhari refused floatation simply because of this same cart before the horse reason, why was he criticized by Obi and most of the analysts in 2022 where they said floatation is the only way? Don't you think Buhari was also waiting for the revamp of refineries and coming on of Dangote refinery?

Tinubu has my respect, he stuck to his words and promises. Buhari said "what is subsidy?" before his election, just like Obi and Atiku. But he backed out and left the mess for his successor. Culled from 11th Bola Tinubu colloquium. Below is where he he said he does not believe in Nigeria.
In economics, when u reduce the purchasing power of the peoppe, what does it mean?
In the same economics,if u widen the tax net especially in a country that pays the lowest wage on the continent of Africa and the world at large,it means more poverty, hence the problem we are currently at now.
And to crown it all, coming from a man who told us in 1999 that he does not believe in Nigeria.

vaxx: Defaulting issues has to do with the depreciation of the local currency against the dollar and that is linked to the country's high indebtedness. Same issues with Nigeria.
You see , Ghana was owing big , hence, the international capital market was closed to the government, the country didn't have foreign exchange to keep the exchange rate low. This caused in high inflation back then Ghana. We have no option than to join the imf again.
That is the only prudent means for a long time solution, we already enter into gold for oil swap deal with UAE, the imf suggest we abolished the practice
Most developed countries debt doubled and even tripled but due to the external factors like the covid 19 and Russia/ukraine war but they did not have the level of inflation Ghana had so they didn't default paying up their debt . Country that trapped into the mess also end up defaulting, zambia and ethiopia care case study . So Nigeria case might not be exceptional , your debt has doubled up , your inflation has step up further . Infact the scenario is just similar like Ghana.
Nigeria actually need imf support But IMF recently expressed confidence in Nigeria's ability to pay her debts. |

The activities of governments after the disbursement of money by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) contributed to the depreciation of the naira, according to data and interviews with people familiar with the matter.
BusinessDay learnt that portions of the funds from FAAC were often changed to dollars by some governments at the parallel market, putting more pressure on the naira.
An analysis shows that from July 2023 to January 2024, the naira depreciated in six months immediately in the black market after the FAAC shared money to the federal, state and local governments.
“With the removal of fuel subsidy, more volumes of naira are being shared by the federal, state and local governments and some of these monies are changed to dollars at the parallel market,” Jude Idimogu, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said in an interview with BusinessDay.
“A week to when they want to share money, note the price of the dollar at that time and after collection, you will see that it will increase because they would have more naira and they would use it to buy dollars. We Nigerians are not helping the system,” he added.
The liberalisation of the foreign exchange market by the Central Bank of Nigeria since last June has led to a large depreciation of the naira, which has also increased revenue for Africa’s biggest economy.
Experts say there is a strong correlation between the depreciation of the naira and demand for dollars after FAAC disbursements.
“There is a correlation between the release of FAAC allocation and the depreciation in the exchange rate, especially in the parallel market. That is why we need to be very cautious about this rate unification theory,” Muda Yusuf, chief executive officer of the Centre for Promotion of Private Enterprises (CPPE), said.
