This is a very good northern resort centers . But my question is: To what end and what is in it for Nigeria? Given that our PDP-lead gov. will foot the bills.
Arosa: Point of correction, we want him to stop instigating violence for his personal gain or detriment.
Pardon my not-so-good English. But the highlighted word above implies he is still instigating (assuming he even ever instigated anyone in the first instance). If so it will be good to provide evidence so we know you are not just mischieviously spreading false information.
This gentleman with his unbiased and thought-provoking write-up just lifts my hope that Nigeria is still alive.
Many people, for example, expect many PDP governors to lose in today’s elections. They don’t realize that a governor who illicitly secured 99% for Mr. Jonathan is likely to use the same fraudulent means to get himself re-elected as well – with, at the very least, 80% of the votes.
According to INEC, there are about 120,000 polling station nation wide, if all these new organisations that has sprang up to raise the populace awareness regarding participation and protection of votes could come together and obtain from INEC the schedule of all the 120,000 polling station along with its codes and is put up on a website in a format that results from the each polling can be inputted.
Results will be gathered by 120,000 volunteers at each of the polling station across the country, who are already registered voters at the polling stations in their various wards and by way of already pre registered phone numbers ( as text from a different number will be rejected) will send a text to a predetermined number at the supposedly collation centre set up by these organisations and is immediately put on the website for all to see.
With this method results will be known well before even INEC announces it's own version of results which presently is being suspected to have been tampered with at INEC collation centres in some states.
Like i said this is open to critique for a better idea to take shape and be implemented.
I don't want to be a nay sayer, but how can we guaranty that a good number of the volunteers are not actually sponsored by a party. Also the database integrity is also crutial so whoever that will be entrusted with it must be seen by all to be transparent.
In my opinion, their is no fool-prove system. It seems to me that the problem is not the method, but the mentality/psyche of our politicians and the electorates. Their is this atmosphere of distrust among us as a nation and the do-or-die attitude of the politician which propels them to always want to rig regardless of the system just makes things worse. Until we de-emphasis money/wealth/riches/position/affluence etc and make adding value to the nation through service our top priority, we will always devise means to circumvent any method. Remember the saying Where their a Will (+ve or -ve) their is always a way.
Are u guys in this country at all. With the massive thumb-printing (for which their is video evidence), recent ballot box snatching, under age voting, violence in SE etc free and fair my foot.
Amalaaba: People are bad because they are bad. No religion encourages anybody to be wicked or violent.
The Muslims in the current world are unfortunate that the west and their propaganda machinery are against us. Once a violent act is performed by a suspected Muslim, his religion is highlighted by CNN, BBC and all the western press; for example: "an Islamic man has killed 2 people". When the fellow is a Christian or other religionists the story is posted: "an gun man has killed 2 people".
Why did they not report the GENOCIDE in Sierra Leonne, Liberia, Ivory Coast and Rwanda as Christian violence? Millions were killed, but if any of them was a Muslim country, the story would have changed. Have we forgotten that in Rwanda, some Pastors were indicted for committing genocide, but their religion were de-emphasized. People (Kikuyus) were burnt in Churches to death by Christians of another tribe in Kenya, but they were not labelled CHRISTIAN TERRORIST.
This has become so pervasive that people now associate Muslims without Violence without thinking and the Muslims' blood boils in anger to defend their religion. As a Muslim, you are afraid to hold a strong opinion because you don't want to be labelled a fanatic. IF YOU DON'T KNOW, THIS IS GETTING DANGEROUS.
Why are we so mean that we can not commend any good act done by a Muslim? Why do you only expect horrible news to be associated with Islam? Why?
VERY SOON, THERE MAY BE MASSIVE SCALE GENOCIDE AGAINST MUSLIMS WORLDWIDE IF THIS EVIL CAMPAIGN DOES NOT STOP.
ALL THE CHRISTIANS ON THIS THREAD PLEASE RELAX AND PUT YOURSELVES IN THE SHOES OF THE MUSLIMS. LET US ALL REFLECT. THE SOLUTION FOR HEADACHE IS NOT THE REMOVAL OF THE HEAD. WE CANNOT ALL BE CHRISTIANS OR OF SAME TRIBE!
To Nigeria (and especially nairaland) christians all of those atrocities were carried out by muslims oo not christians. Someone has even said Mr. Bologi is a christian and not a muslim to show you how daft some people can be. I have said this a number of time. No matter what you say or examples of modern day terrorism from Christianity, a typical stereotype christian has sealed up his/her mind about what to think of Islam and Muslims. For example it is said that Since World War II nobody has bombed London more than the IRA -The IRA is a christian group. Tell that to anybody and they'll just waive it aside. Question is should we remain apologetic and perpetually trying to convince people who have sealed their mind to what you are saying?
Fhemmmy: Why do i see this thread as a tribal shots
honestly, I don't see why anybody should see it that way. Their is no reference +ve or -ve to other tribes. Just a honest observation and warning against complacency so we don't get carried away by the euphoria. I don't see why we shouldn't celebrate ourselves just because we don't want to be termed tribalistic. I'm sure it's very easy to recognize a tribal thread when you see one on Nairaland. Everybody is free to praise is tribe/people just as long as you don't put others down.
yarodin: Before all the Yoruba internet warriors come here and start celebrating, remember Abia is not the only Eastern State in Nigeria. Afterall it is possible that Akala will win in Oyo, so it looks like there are smart voters and silly voters all over Nigeria.
Sorry to disappoint you, but the Oyos just smartly sacked Akala with their vote. Mind you, I'm not from Oyo.
Happy to see another state break lose from the shackle of pdp. But the people of Nasarawa must watch the performace of their new gov, and should not be afraid to sack him in 4yrs if he fails to deliver.
Right from the days of western region, the yourbas has always enjoyed good visionary governance. We have been spoilt with good governance. Little wonder we have a benchmark we sort of match todays leaders with. The best part is that we have proven again and again that we are not afraid to push any governor out of office for under performance with our votes. Good work people BUT THE JOB HAS JUST STARTED. LETS KEEP WATCHING THEM FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS TO KNOW WHICH TO RETAIN AND WHICH TO SACK.
Gbawe: Greedy 'Shayo' man !!! So you can go and sleep under the tree for 16 hours ?
Where else do you want him to sleep if he get high on pami? Is emu not a product of palmwine trees? It means his "liquid content" has just gone home to rest.
@maclatunji Just watchout what some irrational, hate spreading xtians will say shortly even after reading the message. They are very annoyingly predictable
Jaidey-one: ^^churches were burnt and xtians killed and the people responsible call themselves muslims and they claim to be fighting for islam. It's nt jst wat we chose 2 believe. It's wat is happening.
And mosques were not touched and non-christian southerners were spared abi? Sounds like you are only concerned about your brethren and not human life generally. And don't know that there are christian northerners killing muslims too.
Kenyy: Since the Forensic Analysis of the Bogus and MAGIC Votes of SS/SE/SW, etc. are in progress, it would be hasty and reckless for me to sing any praise song for JEGA-who was a Consultant to former INEC Chairman(Iwu) and Iwu was the VICE PRESIDENT when JEGA was ASUU President. So, we can conclude that JEGA was a partner in crime to Iwu in the 2007 Ridiculously Rigged Elections and could not have changed overnight to give Nigerians a Free, Fair and Credible Elections in 2011. (This is just the beginning. Watch Out for Part 2).
hmmmmmmmm, Pls pardon my ignorance. Any prove to these. I'm not a jega fan by the way. Just want to have facts b4 making comments.
ITbomb: Now this is how corruption begins in nigeria. Someone did exactly what he was suppose to do and we are here discussing compensation. @OP this reflect totally your mentality when doing your duties. U should not be good in your service just to get compensation but it should be done as selfless service to your society. Jega is paid to do what he is doing, he can only be recognized and and celebrated for his diligence
onwunaeme: Wonders shall never end!Muslim my backside ! That guy is not a muslim, he is a christian.
Hahaha i dey laff at some people ooooo . He is a christian abi? And he was not hacked by the almajiris. He must have some holy ghost anoiting abi? Soon you will say Rev. is a muslim. I wonder why people won't think b4 they write.
onye_ngbu*: This is the real jihad. Enlighten the people and let them know it is almajiri and not your religion that is bad!
@onye_ngbu The problem is 99.99% of Nigerian christians especially the ones on nairaland have made up their mind on what they want to think about Islam. No matter what you say or prove you show have little to no effect. But their is no harm in continuing to try for people who have the true knowledge, persuading skill and patience. The likes of myself have given up on them and whatever, they choose to believe is their cup of tea.
Sorry, I don't believe in superstition. People will die whether they live in aso villa or not once its their time. But they have to die of something though. IBB didn't lose his wife in the villa remember. Let everybody do what's right not business as usual. That way you won't be afraid of death.
However, I agree GEJ needs pray for God's wisdom to lead the country correctly.
Seun: Can you prove that the picture was taken during elections? Maybe a pic including the ballot box?
You just beat me to it!! While I'm not contesting there are under age voters, this picture proves absolutley nothing as it doesn't show them registering or voting
ogagusps3: ELECTIONS IN NIGERIA. Nigeria's election would go well if We voted via text messages from the safety of our homes. No more queues, no more safety management issues and the added . benefit of a very high voter turnout. The process will go like this: Registration will take place within a specific period and just like the 2011 registration process voter's finger print will taken and upload through the Internet to the INEC data base in order to avoid double voting. A special voter's number will be given to all eligible voters. When the time for election/voting comes an entire week will be given for each election instead of just a day. The eligible voter, instead of waiting in line to vote, can just pick up his/her phone and send a text message to INEC's number (E.g 444 or 787, etc) his special registration number along with the party to which they want to vote. This immediately gets to a INEC's system. It should also be possible for the results to appear as votes come in at the various INEC centers in the country, sort of like a live election. No coalitions, no ballot boxes, no bomb blasts, no deaths, no rigging since it's impossible with that type of system and reduces the amount of money spent. Some might say that some Nigerian don't have phones or don't have access to phones but I'm sure that with a whole week to vote and their own personal voter's number they could easily find a phone unit in order for them to cast they votes. Any vote sent to INEC without a registered voter's number will not be counted so even if an individual has a thousand phones in their possession they can only vote once as long as their registered. I've given this a lot of thought and so I'm quite certain that this is the best way to ensure free and fair elections without any security risks or having the country shut down. It would be IMPOSSIBLE TO RIG even for PDP that seem to have perfected the art of rigging.
I based this system of voting on those then in the US state known as Oregon where they use a postal system of voting. This was thought up by me, a 16 year old Nigerian living in Rivers State.
This is Africa my friend, when quite a number of people believe in having a large family. How do we ensure that a couple withh six children all under 18yrs cannot exploit the situation by getting phones for their under age children. I can just get a phone for my 2-month old baby and vote on his behalf. How about ghost voter (people who don't even exist). This is very childish in my opinion but could be revised to see how to block this holes and others yet to be identified.
J12: What if GEJ arrests him, whats the big deal? But GEJ is too smart for that, for he know the implications of such decisions.
What nonsense implecation. Must the country be kept in perpetual fear because of some imaginary implecation? If Buhari has truely done anything wrong GEJ should not be afraid as the CnC. But the truth is that their is no evidence against him. Rather we should question our CnC for failing the nation on security. Meanwhile, I laugh when I read some post about ICC coming to bring Buhari to justice. Does this not imply that GEJ is incapable of ensuring justice in the country? ICC when we have a president. kai Nigeria don suffer.
OAM4J: Sorry, THE AMAKA is not your brother, but a very pretty sister. Now continue with your point
Apologies my sister, I didn't check. I made an analogy with Nigerian image a few post back. That the image of Nigeria has been so battered to the extent that if one is not truly patriotic, you'll find it hard to call yourself a Nigerian abroad. Yet this battered image is just the hand work of a very small minority of Nigerians (definitely less than 1million out of 150). When I saw your post, I just remembered the analogy I made and I wanted to have your take on it. The blood thirsty area boys in the in my opinion and as confirmed by a few people on this forum are in the minority. But sadly their evil deeds resonates all through the length and breath of the country.
THE AMAKA: truth be told, Christianity USED to be very barbaric in the oldern days, medieval Europe and all that. but we Christians have grown and evolved and now its a very small percentage that use Christianity to torture, kill, harass, etc people although Islam is older, they are 1200 years behind everyone else. they are what the Christians were 1200 years ago and it seems to be only getting worse. as someone pointed out, the newer version of Islam tends to be more violent.
My brother, do you honestly think the highlighted statement is also not true of Islam. I've said this a number of times on this topic.
mudleyback: um, so you're ready to vehemently defend a group of people mercilessly slaughtering another group of people in cold blood but label those speaking against such barbarity as "hating a group of people". seriously tho, wouldn't you hate on a group of people that commit such acts as the one below "in the name of their religion"?:
i told ya before, stop trying to defend the indefensible
Same thing all christians do on most online forum. Pick a sentence and judge the entire chapter of the Qurán. I have made a number of posts with several sentences, but its just so convenient for you to highlight one and quote it out of context. WHERE DID I EVER ON THIS THREAD OR OTHER THREADS DEFEND ANY KILLING IN THE NAME OF ANYTHING BE IT RELIGION OR OTHERWISE? My brother try to understand a discussion b4 jumping to conclusion that shapes your comment.
darqly: Now I see you're tired gists. I was speaking generally, not U and ME, heck I've never met u. I just find it tiresome that as soon as people are killed in the name of islam, your type flood the boards and start telling us you stand for peace and yada yada yada. " Luckily for me, I have never had to live in christian dominated area. Therefore, I don't know how violent you guys can get. But"- This is the most brazenly inaccurate remark I've come across, I leave you to reflect upon it as it really sounds comical.
Ok I sincerely apologise for that one. I got you wrong there.
Basseti: I repeat again , U are clutching straws. Why wont u get disappointed? Nobody is buying your bs. I would be disappointed too if I were U. Now u blame english? My friend u are so full of hot air. U wrote in bold that there is "Ample evidence, yada yada yada", 9/11 is an inside job". I said thats a big lie. What part of that convo is proof that I dont understand english? The ample evidence or the lie?? There they go again. Very soon when they are caught with thier pants down, they will blame it on mis-communication. Mr Donald Trump is soon coming out with his own documentary on "how Obama was born in kenya during the mau mau revolution, smuggled into honolulu by his grand dad, transformed into the anti christ by his muslim step dad and set on an agenda to destroy America using socialism". I guess we should all go watch that and believe it. Buncha twats
I'm not asking you to buy anything. What will that do for me? Mind you I didn't say there is ample evidence, this is what I said: "As for the 9-11, I try not to discuss the topic. But one thing I still can't understand about Nigerian christians is the passion with which they want to convince everybody that islam is behind the attack when even NON-MUSLIM AMERICA SAID THEY HAVE AMPLE EVIDENCE TO SHOW ITS AN INSIDE JOB. Whether it is an inside job or not is not my business. However, I found the documentary made by NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC on the topic very interesting. I'm no longer in the habit of providing links when it is readily available to all humans with internet connection. Google search national geographic 911 truther (in any order)"
If you can't understand that, then sorry I can't help you.
